Trident Booksellers & Cafe is a cozy haven on Newbury Street, blending a charming bookstore vibe with an expansive all-day breakfast menu and casual café atmosphere.
"With the standard hot chocolate and white hot chocolate options on the menu, Trident also offers a “chocolatino,” which is espresso with steamed chocolate milk that’s topped with whipped cream, cocoa, and chocolate syrup. The shop also offers a hot cider." - Tanya Edwards, Eater Staff
"Trident Booksellers and Cafe (and bar) is the last independent bookstore in Boston. For years it's been a refuge for creatives in the city. The eclectic crowd is a great match for the wide variety of magazines and hard to find publications from all over the world." - Amalgam
"Looking for a #studentcore vibe? Trident’s two-floor cafe provides the perfect refuge for those trying to finish an essay or study for an exam, complete with outlets under many of the seats for those long study sessions. Open until 10 p.m. every night, it’s not uncommon to see the tables and bar lined with patrons right up until closing time. The menu includes plenty of classic cafe fare, along with some literary twists, such as a mystery book chosen by one of Trident’s booksellers." - Maya Homan
"Every Friday at 7 p.m., Boston’s beloved brunch-and-bookstore combo runs seven rounds of general knowledge trivia in their upstairs space. As room is quite limited, maximum team size is six, plus all parties need to be present to be seated. If you do plan on coming as a team, be sure to arrive early as seats typically get filled up by 6:30 p.m. It serves its full menu all day — in other words, expect those brunch classics for dinner." - Valerie Li Stack
"Unlike the other restaurants on this map, Trident isn’t Nepali or Tibetan; it’s a bookstore and cafe serving a sizable American diner-style menu. But vegetarian momos have been periodically offered since way back in 1992, introduced by employee Tsering Wangdi, who became known as the “Momo Man.” They returned to the menu in 2021 when another Tibetan chef joined the kitchen staff. The restaurant’s new “Momo Gal” is using Wangdi’s original recipe. When available, Trident’s momos are served steamed or fried with soy sauce and peanut sauce." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
