Trident Coffee Imperial Beach

I’m Brazilian, and this coffee in the picture is the best I’ve had in US since I moved here (and I’ve tried coffee on both coasts!) The mocha I had at the store was really good as well! My new fav coffee place! Ps. If you have a Keurig like I do, I recommend using the iced coffee mode and small size, so your coffee won’t be watery 😉

I went to Trident Coffee in Imperial Beach for my first time the other day. It was an awesome experience! My friend and I ordered a blackberry cobbler cold brew, Midnight Vietnamese, an espresso shot, two protein donuts, and a bacon & egg empanada. First off, the space is, well, quite spacious. With a high ceiling, plenty of seating, nice seats, indoor plants, and cool lighting fixtures, the place has a great vibe. The cafe also gets a good amount of natural lighting which livens it up. The coffee drinks were delicious. The Midnight Vietnamese was an activated charcoal latte, and I swapped whole milk for coconut milk—it was unique and with the coconut milk it reminded me of the traditional coconut affogatos they serve in Vietnam. The blackberry cobbler cold brew was really nice as well. I should mention that this shop allows you to do a ton of interesting add-ins to your drinks, like mushrooms, ashwagandha, maca root, and l-theanine — pretty unique. Finally, the food was pretty good overall as well. The donuts were very tasty, especially the lemon poppy. I didn’t expect them to have such great texture after they told us they were high-protein donuts. The texture was absolutely heavenly—such a tender dough. The empanada was decent—not the greatest, but it had a good amount of filling and was quite large. I highly recommend checking Trident coffee out. It’s an awesome coffee shop with good people, and it’s also right beside some really nice walking trails along the end of the bay.

This coffee place is in the perfect spot. When you're ready to go on your trails.Walking or biking you can stop here first before heading out. I've never seen brew coffee on tap which was super cool. The stuff was really nice and it had different coffee names and recipes I hadn't had before. I definitely recommend this place..especially for our coffee heads out there

I hate to leave bad reviews especially when it's not bad at all. Coffee is pretty good but my biggest gripe with this is parking. It is extremely difficult and such a pain. Because of how tricky it is I took my classic car and because of how tight it is in there I managed to scrap a parked car. Unfortunately because of this I wouldn't even dare to come back. Be warned on that.

The BEST coffee shop in the San Diego/Coronado/Imperial Beach areas. Coffee is the best Ive had in a long time. Everyone extremely friendly. Great vibes. Perfect place to meet in the mornings. My go to whenever I am in town.

I've been coming here for years, and Trident's wide variety of coffee is truly unique and among the best in San Diego. They also offer nitro coffee with a range of delicious flavors. Sebastian, the cashier, was exceptionally friendly and helpful during our visit. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Tried the ice coffee came out okay but wanted it sweeter taste could of been better maybe with donut

flat white - 2 stars. sadly it was burned. the underlying ingredients were of ok quality, but the outcome was a beverage with burnt flavor. service - 4.5 stars. barista was friendly. there was another employee with an unironically matching mustache who was a bit unpleasant (just a tad aggressive, slightly machismo in a way that felt...unpleasant for lack of a better word). otherwise fine. atmosphere - chill as. 5 stars.

Some really good cold brew. These guys know what they're doing. Each flavor has a story, ask the barista about them!

Love the serenity of this location. They have a huge parking lot and plenty of street parking too. I came here on a weekday and the parking lot was pretty much empty. I love that you get to see the water from the shop. I ordered the midnight vietnamese and it was heaven! I don't like MCT oil and was able to replace that with mushroom and it really elevated the experience. Thank you!

I had to try their cold brew flight which included: 1. Son of a son of a sailor (Best, flavor) 2. Trident (normal dark) 3. El Capitan (super dark taste) 4 daily rations (for true sailors) Additional to that I had the following food: 1. Matcha/ strawberry donut (vegan non-protein) Very soft donut with a creamy frosting that covers the top and a very enjoyable morning breakfast or dessert. 2. Breakfast burrito Great mixture of egg and cheese. That's great for anybody. 3. Bacon, egg and cheese empanada Flavorful crust packed with bacon, egg and cheese. That's easily shareable since everyone wood want a bite. To top it all off is in an amazing area close to the beach, walking distance from a small kids playground and a beautiful view. Parking is easily accessible whether it's in front of the store or up the street. And to add definitely a place where kids can eat but do not have many options to get drinks.

I was drawn to Trident for it's symbolism...totally makes sense that it's located by the beach. I'm a health conscious person and was glad to find out Trident Coffee uses health-enhancing ingredients to foster wellness. Thankfully, it wasn't too busy in this naturally lit spacious coffee shop when I arrived. The staff was friendly and patient with me since I was a first-timer. Trident's wide variety of coffee was really unique...especially the combination of coffee and tea. When I saw cognitive mushrooms as one of the functional lattes on the menu, I had to order it along with an acai bowl which suprisingly took a bit to make and noticed it was in a cup. Overall, positive vibes. I left empowered to live my life full steam ahead helping to realize their vision :-) If I'm in IB again, I'll go back for another nautical journey but the next time by trying their popular nitro cold brew. I definitely recommend this veteran-owned coffee shop to the Yelp Community.

A friend introduced me to this place, and I decided to stop by after a doctor's appointment in the area. The staff here has always been cool. The first time I came here I tried the flight which was amazing, and today I went with a cold brew and a keto friendly empanada. I love places that have keto-friendly options. The vibe here is super chill being next to a gym and a bike spot. I see a lot of riders congregate here. I've never had an issue with parking, and there's a dedicated spot for Trident customers. Thanks Trident for helping me stay in my healthy lane. Cheers all.

Super sweet coffee shop in Imperial Beach. Veteran owned with an amazing staff and incredible coffee. They roast the beans in the back and the freshness shines!! The espresso was the best I've had since I don't know when

Trident Coffee is hands down one of the best spots around. The view is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is perfect whether you're working, relaxing, or catching up with friends. What really sets this place apart is the staff -- they remember almost everyone's name and make you feel right at home every time you walk in. On top of that, the coffee is out of this world. Definitely a go-to spot!

This is my second time at the coffee shop. The service is friendly, Very nice open area to sit or sit outside. It sits right next to a natural wild life area. The coffee is great, very smooth. I tried their 'protein bagel'. Uhhh I am sure someone has had a bagel before. It is chewy, crunchy and smeared with plenty of cream cheese. Not their bagel, dense and soft. Good lord can you toast me up a regular bagel next time.....

I live down the street, I have come here several times, I will continue to come here all the time. The place itself is kind of small, but they make it very spacious. There's a couple cute couches and a couple chairs and tables (with outlets). Outside, the beautiful air and sun, overlooking the water- perfect if you wanna get some fresh air. It's chilly, bring a sweater if you're hanging out outside. The coffee and pastry options are always all so cool, fun, and delicious. This place is known for it's nitro and specialty cold brews. I really like the "functional lattes". The service of the employees has always been super friendly, really above average- it's what encouraged me to write this review. Shout out to Randall today. He said he was just a month working there, but I seen he was handling the store and customers really well. Good conversation and great recommendations.

Great spot for sugar free drinks. I feel like their menu is unique to other coffee shops and I believe most if not all of their food is gluten free. The location is welcoming and a nice spot to stop for a drink if you're on a bike ride or a walk . Dog friendly as well which I like

Trident deserves another 5 stars from me, they have improved since my last visit! They have a variety of cold brew selections, cold brew specialty drinks, espresso drinks, and even functional drinks. I got the mexican mocha with oat milk and it was delicious! The chocolate flavor was so delectable and worked well with the cold brew. They have upped their pastry selection! I got a lemon poppy protein donut (which they told us has 22-26g of protein!) and a keto bacon and egg empanada. The empanada had flavorful seasoning. Usually keto pastries aren't my favorite since there's no carbs but theirs was pretty good! The unique pastry selection and delicious cold brew sets them apart from other places. The interior is a bit small but nicely decorated and with lots of tables and seats. The place overlooks the otay river/bay area so has some nice nature views!

My friend recommended this place and right off rip I can tell this will be a regular stop for me. The shop itself is so serene and has plenty of seating. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Adrien was so helpful in assisting us with our order. We got the Mexican mocha latte, peppermint mocha latte, and a peppermint chocolate doughnut. The coffee was incredible but if I could go back and do it again I would skip the doughnut or try something else.

This place is tucked away in IB. I come here every once in a while & it's a great place to get your cold brew fix. I love that they have different cold brews on tap. My favorites are their specialty cold brews. The protein donuts are also pretty good, they're not too sweet & dont have that weird protein taste. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program so you can get free drinks! Overall, highly recommend this place!

Best coffee and donut place in IB. Had the New Orleans and the Mexican mocha. New Orleans was tasty, perfect. Mexican mocha had a great flavor, perfect mix. Donuts are not your normal sugar donuts, these are protein donuts, had a soft density. Yummy. The surrounding neighborhood makes it a surreal experience. Away from traffic.

5 Stars - Stupid Good Cold Brew & a Keto Donut Worth Fighting Over Trident Coffee in Imperial Beach is the spot if you like your coffee strong and your barista top-notch. Rolled in expecting just a decent cup of cold brew--walked out questioning why I'd ever drink anything else. Their cold brew is stupid good--and with high octane. Had the banana nut keto donut, and I gotta say, it's wizardry. Shoutout to Adrian, who was slinging coffee and good vibes like a pro. Knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely made the experience better. Trident isn't just a coffee shop--it's a necessary stop if you're anywhere near IB. Go for the cold brew and pair with any keto or non-keto delicacies.

I've had house coffees, mochas, flat whites, and cold brews here and all are excellent. Fast, friendly service too. I've made it a go-to spot when I'm in IB. Going for a walk on the trails by the marsh after grabbing a drink here is a must-try. Just don't get run over by the bicyclists lol.

Love this coffee spot! The coffee is ALWAYS spot ON! From the cold brews, to any of their hot drinks to their on the go cans to grab to take home or if you just prefer to drink out of a can ! My favorites are their cold brew flight & honey lavender latte! The service from all of the staff is always excellent! Adrian and Kendall are the best! Friendly, helpful and always with a smile ! This is a great place to work for a few hours as well it's never too busy!

First time coming in and wow! The place is beautiful and the staff has quick and informative advice for any question regarding the amazing merch, the delicious coffee, and amazing, amazing food! If you're into coffee or food look no further.

Came here and a Saturday afternoon with my husband, this spot has a relaxed ambience . We loved the open view and staff were very friendly. We had a Mexican mocha and a son of sailor both iced. The coffees were okay and the coffee carrot cake was a 6/10. We'll be back to try other items on the menu. Husband- "They have cool shirts" I've Lived just outside of IB my whole life and just discovered this gem.

This is such a great coffee shop with such a relaxed vibe and great view of the San Diego Bay. It's great whether you are coming here with friends for a nice morning or as part of a pit stop on a bike ride, since it's just off the bike path. The service is very friendly, and there is a ton of variety of drinks and pastries. I loved their rotating cold brew each time I visited (they have so many options on tap it really feels like a bar) as well as the Horchata Latte. The menu is very extensive, so there should be something for everyone here! The seating here is ample and quite spacious too. Make sure to give yourself some time to enjoy the scenery though--there are so many birds in the area and it's just such a calming place to start your day. I highly recommend coming to Trident!

I tried the Salted Caramel Mocha, and honestly, it was underwhelming. I was expecting a rich blend of house-made caramel syrup with milk and espresso or cold brew, but instead, it reminded me of Dutch Bros--too watered down and overly sweet. The whipped cream and chocolate drizzle felt unnecessary and amateur. I'm sure the other drinks here are fine, but I expect a strong first impression when it comes to specialty drinks. This one didn't stand out, though it has potential. TL;DR: Trident should consider crafting their own cold foam to elevate their specialty drinks. Using lower-quality ingredients takes away from what could be a great cold brew.

A Monday morning ride around imperial beach and I just have to stop by Trident to get my caffeine fix. My "go to" beverage to order is their cold brew and trust me you can't go wrong with whatever you decide to order. Not today though as it was nippy and I just wanted to get the caffeine fix hot and fast. I opted for the doppio espresso. The barista today is Izzy who is very welcoming and personable. The wait staff have always been super friendly. Time to sit and relax...

Came here during lunch break since there isn't too many coffee shops south of San Diego. This is a great place to sit down and get some work done as there are many outlets. The staff here are patient and willing to explain the extensive list of cold brews too. I ended up getting the matcha latte which was smooth and not too sweet. I enjoyed the strong matcha flavor and would definitely recommend. There is an extensive selection of gluten free and vegan pastries which looked good. My friend got the raspberry bar which was too sweet for me, but I generally don't enjoy those types of pastries. Will definitely be checking this place out again!

Genuinely top 2 cafes I've ever been to. A place that specializes in nitro cold brew is so unique and the execution with so many unique coffees is superb. The baristas are top notch and let me sample before picking a drink. I loved it so much I bought a bag of beans. Add the fact that they have great protein donuts and a cool looking place as well and you have a recipe for a perfect cafe. This is a haven for specialty coffee lovers and cafe lovers as well.

I like to stop here midway while bicycling the Bayshore bikeway. The coffee here is delicious! My server, Adrian, was very helpful when I was selecting which drink to get this time. I have bought their beans to take home with me on many other occasions, since I don't live close by and I like to drink my coffee while wearing pj's. I also like their protein donuts to fuel my ride!

A must try coffee spot! Cool place, great cold brew, and delicious protein donuts. I have been here many times and the only downside is there isn't one closer to home. Customer service is exceptional, prices are average, and there is a relaxing beach like atmosphere. There is a small parking lot with free parking available and street parking. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, and plenty of space to enjoy the ocean breeze. This place is tucked away at the end of the street and is a local spot for bicyclist. There is a bike trail at the corner with a nice ride along silver strand. There is cool merchandise for purchase and cold brew in cans to go. There is a wide variety of cold brews and lattes available, as well as delicious pastries. The prices are decent and what you expect to pay. The workers are very helpful, friendly, and make the visit a positive one. The protein donuts here are bomb! They are moist, fresh, and pair well with their cold brews. I love their hot and cold lattes, and the cold brews have great flavors. My favorite donut is their coffee cake and the horchata latte is on point. I have a few t-shirts and the material is soft and comfy. I love the Trident logo, and the designs of their shirts. They give a 10% military/LE discount and dog friendly. Trident is an all around great coffee spot and worth checking out.

This was my first time trying trident coffee, i've heard great things about them and i was not disappointed! their coffee was nice, strong and smooth. the service was also great, adrian was very kind and helpful! i would definitely come again!!

Really cool local coffee shop right off the bike path. Met Adrian the barista, great personality , super welcoming, even after more than a 12 hour shift. Seemed committed to being friendly , knowledgeable and good spirited. Highly recommend.

I was assisted by Diego and Ricardo, who were incredibly friendly and attentive. They took the time to educate me on the cold brew options. We tried the honey lavender, and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend checking out Trident Coffee!

Every time I go to Trident Coffee, it is a wonderful experience. The cafe latte is always delicious and so are the keto donuts and bagels. It's really hard finding keto dessert options in the southbay and trident coffee is always my go to spot to find sweet keto treats for my husband. The location is also beautiful and you can take a nice walk along the bay. The barista is always extremely friendly and nice. Definitely a hidden gem in Imperial Beach.

All the coffees ive tried here have been delicious & very smooth. But the thing that really keeps bringing me back is their beef "empanada". The crust is so so good and crispy and I often find myself craving it! The location of this coffee shop is also very nice since theres a really nice trail where you can walk while drinking your coffee. Although its located near a busy boulevard this place feels so peaceful and is sorrounded by nature.
