"Trinosophes (the "es" is silent) is part cafe, part gallery, and part performance space. They do great pour overs and espresso drinks, and there's enough space to take up a table with laptop work or a lunch meeting. The food menu is always really inspired. Stumbled on this gem on google and I was not disappointed! They have this vegan pizza that’s delicious. The coffee is just ok. There is a record shop next door and they keep the attached door open as they play records from the shop themselves. Great workspace for students or WFH individuals. Nice place to catch up with a friend. Will definitely be frequenting this place when I can.

Google
Large unique open coffee space with unique pottery served specialty coffee/tea beverages and lite breakfast options. Lots of natural light and cozy decor with repurposed seating options. Also, has a stage for live performances. No wifi is the only downside. Come with hotspot if you plan to work for a few hours. Other than that. Give them a try.

I really liked this place. Went to the Kranky showcase concert in October 2024. Did not disappoint. Nice venue.

Google
This place is beautifully designed and slick. The egg biscuit sandwich was damn delicious and the coffee was fabulous.

Google
I was told to visit this place bc, "they are able to make vegetables savory." This is entirely true, brunch was delightful, filling, and in an environment where you could comfortably spend an hour or more. Trinosophes has a less hustled brunch vibe than other spots mostly due to just how large the space is. Mid-century modern vibes and good company make this a weekend favorite.

Healthiest, freshest and delicious-est food in the city. Espresso consistently dialed in. Vibes always immaculate

Google
Payed 4.75 and waited 10 mins for a latte that’s 3/4 full and the foam quality was atrocious. Please get the basics right before you start selling banana chocolate crepes for 12$

Google
My personal favorite cafe in all of Detroit. The space is massive, however made more homey by its welcoming staff and pleasant design. It is attached to the adjacent record shop with a shared walkway. I imagine this is their source for the lovely background music choices, which is typically a soft jazz or staff choice. They serve pour over coffee, a perfect cardamom chai, and just recently added, a varied and tasteful pastry assortment. Overall: 5/5 the perfect spot to relax in the Eastern Market neighborhood. Their in house cardamom chai is perfectly brewed. Enjoy!

Yelp
If you get anything, you have to get the breakfast sandwich. It is perfection. It has two buttery flaky biscuits with the softest scrambled eggs. The goat cheese and aioli make it so creamy and flavorful. They have few vegan friendly options in their menu. The space inside is large and open with such a cool vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Found a delicious vanilla latte; plus the dirty chai was super strong and had a unique spiced flavor. The chocolate chip cookie was excellent, soft but with crispy edges, just like I like it, and the yummy chocolate bites mmm so sweet. The eggy breakfast sandwich was perfect on a fluffy savory biscuit. It had an interesting cream cheese spread mixed in making the eggs nice and creamy and the pickle slices made for a nice surprise. I do wish we got a bit more of the side salad because I enjoy my greens! The neighborhood doesn't seem like the safest, but it was still great to stop by this chill spot by chance during our visit to Detroit!

Yelp
What a vibe!! Amazing breakfast sandwich. Huge open vibe, performance space.... And next door to Peoples Records! Cmon!!!

Yelp
This is probably my favorite coffee shop in Detroit. They're in a great location, right next to Eastern market, so it's a solid place to go to over the weekend while strolling the market. They're also a great place to work from, as there's plenty of space and it's not too loud. I love the dirty chai, but I think the main standout is the food. They have a great selection of pastries and sandwiches that I think are far superior to what you find in most coffee shops. They're also connected to a plant and vinyl shop, and I haven't been, but it looks like they do local music shows as well. They also have really interesting and fun dishware. The vibes are more industrial and it's a huge space, so I really like the setup. The staff is super friendly. The only callout I would make is to be sure to look up the hours before going because they are closed or hosting events sometimes.

Yelp
Good coffee. Amazing biscuit with French scrambled eggs. It's the only place that I'm aware of that makes French scrambled eggs in the city. There may be some fancy bistro somewhere that I'm unaware of YET but those scrambled eggs are amazing and the coffee and the service is great too. It's a cool place across from the Market to take a break from shopping.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Came here for lunch over the weekend before riding our bike on the Dequindre cut and Belleisle. Staff is super friendly. It's a very cool space to hang out in. We had the lentil pita and the egg sandwich and coffee. All were excellent.

Yelp
My wife and I were at at the eastern market around 11 AM. All the usual eating spots in the market had lines outside. She has to go to restroom. We hopped in the car left the market. I saw the sign and open door on this place. Made a right off of Gratiot on to a brick alley. Follow it around back. I found a parking lot and an open back door. Wife answered the call. I ordered food and coffee. She had a pour over decaf and I had a regular coffee. She has the breakfast sandwich and I had the breakfast taco. Everything was 5 star. Nice place to hang out or meet up with a group.

Yelp
Trinosophes / Warda Pâtisserie has some of the best buttermilk biscuits and breakfast sandwiches in town. Named one of the country's best new restaurants by Bon Appétit in 2019, Trinosophes is located across from Eastern Market and has ample parking for customers across the back entrance of the restaurant. From the food to the décor, Trinosophes proves that less is more. The dining area is simply decorated with plants and minimalist furniture, giving a bright and spacious feeling. Sometimes the most delectable meals are the simplest with high-quality ingredients. For brunch, I ordered a glass of 100% Traverse City cherry juice and a vegetarian breakfast sandwich with a fried egg, white cheddar, garlic aioli, and pickle. For non-Michiganders, Traverse City produces the best cherries in the state and is known for its cherry festival every summer. My breakfast sandwich tasted freshly made from homemade ingredients. The buttermilk biscuit was to die for - very fluffy, buttery, and soft - not hard and crumbly like the biscuits that are typically found at other cafés and restaurants. I don't think I can go back to eating other breakfast biscuits again. Pickles aren't typically found in breakfast sandwiches, but it went surprisingly well with the garlic aioli and the runny egg yolk. My sandwich was the definition of gourmet breakfast food. I'm not into pastries, but what was left looked tasty. I recommend visiting as early in the morning as possible for pastries because they run out quickly. Almost everything was gone when I arrived in the afternoon. I will be returning for the biscuits and to try other menu items. Definitely one of the best new restaurants in Detroit and a must-visit for its drinks, food, and pastries.

Yelp
Wowww one of my all time favorite cafes just to relax, i love the food selections and how theyre prepared; so beautiful!! The vanilla latte was delicious, smooth, not burnt :) I haven't figured out the hours yet because sometimes google says theyre open and theyre not when i get there but its okay hopefully they fix that. Love love this spot !! Great ambiance, it feels like im sitting in someone's living room that has really great taste. Beautiful space

Yelp
Best food! Lots of vegan & vegetarian options. Best ambience, light, big, open, airy coffee shop. Awesome coffee

Yelp
In general I think perfect is boring but Trinosophes is perfect yet not boring. It's as close to a French cafe as Detroit gets. It's quiet so shhh when you come here. The vibe is low key chill zen. Need a moment of peace? Come here. Get a butter biscuit and a cup of tea or try the cherry juice. It's all good. There are no bad choices. Come experience Trinosophes. If you like big meaty American breakfasts don't come here. You won't like

Yelp
I've been a patron of Trinosophes through their many stages. It's always been a nice place to get something to eat and sit for a while. The coffee is good and the food/bakery items are always amazing. Having the record store attached it also a very convenient plus and it's nice to stroll in their after you're done. My favorite thing they offer is their hot tea served in elongated bags. The ginger is the best. The venue space is nice and would recommend catching some carefully curated entertainment when you get the chance. I wish they had events more often but maybe in the future.

Yelp
Trinosophes is great coffee shop/eatery/community and performance space in Eastern Market. It's large and airy and makes working solo, dining with friends, or working on group projects a breeze. It's perfect for every scenario, really. There are several large and communal tables for big groups and smaller table tops for solo diners. The menu is great and features several breakfast options with items ranging from breakfast sandwiches (vegan friendly) and crepes, to lunch served until 2pm featuring items like several salads, a lamb patty melt, tempeh reuben, and more. On my last visit, I had the Great Lakes Plate which consisted of a smoked fish salad, soft-boiled farm egg, pickle of the moment, and Avalon toast (gluten-free nut bread also available upon request). It was delicious. The salad was not mayo based so it was light and fresh and the egg was cooked to a perfect soft-boil. From 2-5 they have a very limited segment of the menu available as well as several baked goods and such available throughout the day for light snacks as well. Yesterday I had a lemon bar and it was so so good! I also had an iced coffee and high fives to them for having simple syrup and Calder dairy cream to mix in. In general, their coffee is prepared in a pour over style so it takes a little longer to get. That means I wouldn't recommend popping in here if you're in a hurry. But this is not the place for that in general. This is a place for socializing, relaxing, and enjoying the day. Creativity and the arts are a focus here and they also host regular special events like art shows, live music, etc. Check their board in the cafe or their website for a list of upcoming fêtes. Also next door is People's Records, so it's easy to pop in and grab a new record and support another great Detroit business at the same time.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in Detroit! The food is amazing and I love how the menu is always changing. My favorite breakfast sandwich around is their egg and biscuit sandwich! Atmosphere is great and the coffee is amazing.

Yelp
Such an amazing Detroit gem their incredibly delicious food is accommodating to all diets. Always curate amazing music shows and the coffee game here is primo. Rebecca and Joel are huge assets to the Detroit community so glad they are holding down this spot!

Yelp
Great location! Interesting acts, eclectic bookstore, fantastic midday menu and great drink offerings. A highlight in Detroit!

Yelp
Oh my. I'm giving them 5 stars for the breakfast sandwich alone. Maybe it was partially me being ravenous after knocking out another 24-hour shift at the hospital, but I wish I could transport myself back in time to when I took my first bite of the breakfast sandwich. Their biscuits are AMAZING and are the perfect foundation for a buttery, savory, delicious sandwich with a hint of garlic on the tip of your tongue via their aioli. I do wish I had been around to try their full-on food menu. It appears as though they have moved away from that at this time - their menu centers around the breakfast sandwich, some simpler fare and some fresh baked savory goods that I resolve to try soon! I've posted a current menu as it looks like a few of them were out of date. The space itself is very open - cozy seating and tables abound and make it an ideal place for a meeting, brainstorm session or even just a quiet cafe atmosphere to relax. There are a multitude of book cases with books that one can pluck and read while present, and tucked in their far corner was a stage complete with numerous instruments. Currently, they also house Warda Pâtisserie, a burgeoning Algerian influenced pastry shop that is both seasonal and incredibly creative, drawing on its influences from the owner's travels. Staples that I bought were the sablé cookies as well as a lemon mascarpone tart, all of which were delicious. They're incredibly elegant and beautiful and would make for a unique gift too! Plus they do online orders for larger cakes/tarts to serve bigger parties. There's so much to love about this place. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I don't typically take the time to write a review but the food was so so good I just had to say it. my friend I couldn't decide what to eat and dexided to get several items and share. it's been a couple of days now and I'm still thinking about how yummy it all was! can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Definitely would come back here! Got a cappuccino and breakfast sandwich and would definitely recommend. My friend also got the cardamon tea latte and that was fantastic. Would recommend exploring their tea drinks. I also really liked the atmosphere. There's a record store next door that is neat and the art gallery is an added nice touch. Only downside, they don't serve alcohol, so no boozy brunch.
google avatar

Stone Z.

Yelp
My friend who had previously worked here + helped build the record store next door showed me this place and talked super highly of it! The food options seem to vary by the day. The vegan options the day I went were something along the lines of expensive avocado toast and granola yogurt, neither of which I order out anyway because I can make it at home. Butttt, there was this "peanut cigar" in the display, the one vegan pastry option. I'm a sucker for vegan pastries. It was very unique- crunchy outside and peanut filled inside. It reminded me and my friend of like a peanutty baklava in a stick. Very interesting! Technically the food options (on my experience on this one day) only would be like 3 stars, but the atmosphere makes it 4, and the personal connection/bias, the duality of the space- cafe, reading space, working space, venue space with a stage, and lastly the photos of all the tasty vegan options I have YET to try- the soba noodle bowl, the breakfast sandwich, makes it a 5. I will definitely be coming back
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
This place was excellent and unique! My dish was fabulous. The reason for the 4 stars vs 5 stars is due to the service. Maybe we looked like we'd been before...but we didn't know a few things: 1) you went up to the counter to pour your own water 2) coffee took a half hour to make 3) you just go up to the counter when ready to pay to get your bill I had to get up 3 times to ask questions. If they had been explained ahead of time, I would have been fine with it.

Yelp
Pros: -great coffee and tea options -extensive vegan choices -everything I've tried here (drinks, baked goods) has been delicious -strong representation of Detroit food companies -flawless, fast WiFi -quiet, respectful chatter, abundant seating options, bookshelved walls and good acoustics make this an excellent place to work solo of have a small work meeting -beautiful lighting Cons: -food is a bit pricey -honestly that's it I love this place

Yelp
Great pastries, community, and mission! This location is great to meet friends or hang out by yourself. Areas to work in or read, as well as books to borrow and look through while you're there.

Yelp
Great gluten-free menu & delicious! My sister & I ate here today for lunch & loved it. I got the "Michigan Lamb Patty Melt". To make it GF, they substituted the GF nut bread with a berry spread, as a side dish, instead of the house made focaccia. Delicious, would definitely recommend it. My sister had the "Noodle Bowl". The dish is made GF, no substitutions needed. She said it was very tasty & exactly what she had a taste for. She added hot sauce at the table. She also had the turmeric tea & it is her all time favorite tea. She went there specially to have this tea. I had a pour over decaf coffee with half & half. Very good. We shared the GF chocolate cake. My sister liked it, said it wasn't too sweet. I was disappointed in the GF cake. I would not get it again. I expected it to be more flavorful.

Yelp
This place has the best espresso! I have to stop here every time I visit eastern market.

Yelp
What a lovely coffee shop, art gallery, and music venue, wrapped into 1 huge, yet hidden location! In Eastern Market, this treasure offers tea, coffee, light snacks and brunch. I tried the salmon, and my friend had the eggs. Both dishes were not large, but high-quality and filling. The vanilla lavender cake was out of this world - not too sweet, with a beautiful lemony icing. The staff were attentive, the space is super large and chill, and it's a wonderful place to grab a coffee and get some work done. Check out their website, or talk to a barista about what's happening at Trinosophes next - there is always something fun going on!

Yelp
This cafe should not be so well-hidden in the streets of Detroit! Inside it has the cutest vibe, the nicest people, and such a great menu! I came here for brunch during the weekend. I could not choose because so many of the options sounded delicious! The waitress recommended the buckwheat noodle bowl and in glad she did! It included carrots, shiitake mushrooms, herbs, buckwheat noodles (of course), sesame seeds, Tofu, and mixed greens. Mixed into this bowl was a divine miso glaze. This glaze was sweet and savory. It hit the spot! To go with my brunch, I ordered their fresh squeezed watermelon and lime juice and it was uber refreshing. I drank it before my meal even came so I also ordered the freshly squeezed orange juice. This was just as good! Nothing better than freshly squeezed juice to go with brunch. The perfect end to a perfect meal can include a lot of things. But in this case it was a vanilla-mango-chia pudding. It was so creamy so full of flavor I wanted to buy the rest of what they had left and take them home to eat later! But I know I can always come back here for more, which I definitely intend to do. This place exceeded my already high expectations and I really enjoyed my weekend brunch here!

Yelp
I used to come here and do work during the week, grab a coffee and a vegan breakfast sandwich. Within the past year there's been a few changes in the menu and floor plan, but it's still a great place to eat and grab a coffee. My husband and I went on a Sunday and had the blueberry pancakes, grits, breakfast sandwich and chai latte. All were great! I love the books that they have there as well.

Yelp
I went here for brunch with my boyfriend on a Saturday. It's a cute cafe with a lot of space and tables. They regularly have art and music. They have a coffee bar as well and lots of homemade baked goods. They do have gluten free and dairy free options. I had an egg scramble with a tomato-style curry sauce over potatoes with chorizo. It was great! I'd recommend it for a lunch date!

Yelp
I have to admit, I love Trinosophes. Whenever I'm downtown during the day and everything is either booked up or parking is unreasonable, we end up here. I have some complaints, sure. Every time we're here we essentially get completely ignored. Like you don't have to fawn over us- I get it, it's not that kind of place and that's not what I'm about. But a simple "can I get you guys a menu?" would be nice, instead of pretending we're not visible. It IS a café after all! Still, everything we order at Trinosophes is always on point. I like that the menu changes based on which ingredients are in season. The dishes, both sweet and savory, always taste amazing and fresh and the portions are pretty big. You leave feeling mad full but never hating yourself for it. Will keep coming back despite the almost nonexistent service. Plus, one time I had the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had in my entire life (and it was vegan!) here and I keep hoping it will make a reappearance.

Victoria N.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and a perfect option for vegans and non-vegans alike. I had the avocado toast and the group I was with ordered the vegan breakfast sandwich and the egg breakfast sandwich. Everyone loved their meal! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Coffee shop/pastry shop/art venue near Eastern Market. Trinosophes is a gem in the Eastern Market neighborhood. Beyond the coffee and latte menu they have partnered with a pastry business as well and are offering a selection of yummy pastries. My all time favorite thing they offer is the cardamom chai latte. It is super creamy and just a bit spicy. Also check out their Facebook page to see what events they have coming up. Quick note: -If you visited Trinosophes in the past you may have notified they had a full brunch menu, but they recently made some changes and now only have a breakfast sandwich and the pastries.
google avatar

Tim W.

Yelp
I met up with a friend in the Eastern Market, at which time we both decided we were hungry. She insisted we check out her favorite brunch spot TRINOSOPHES. Of course I obliged and we were on our way. The location was great being off of a big street like Gratiot. The scene is very hipster with questionable choices in background music. The set was very bare of decor but that didn't bother me because I was there to eat! Anyways, my friend and I decided to split the French Toast (proclaimed best my friend ever tasted) and the fingerlings w/ corned beef. The toast WAS NOT the best I've ever tasted...not really even in the top 5 but it was good. Onto the fingerlings which were less than lukewarm, and came with the sight of H A I R on a forkful 2 seconds from being lodged in my mouth! This highly disappointed me. They comped the fingerlings, but nobody came to apologize from the back. I think a chef or manager should always apologize in such instances, but that's not everyone's practice obviously. I will not be returning.
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
They succeed at what they set out to do. It's an awesome space. I have eaten brunch here a few times and hung out drinking coffee, etc. on numerous occasions. The coffee is great, the food is fresh and delicious and it's a pleasure to while away the hours in this great venue. If you're looking for a big chain coffee experience, look elsewhere. This is independent coffee/cafe at its best.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
This is where artists go for an espresso and breakfast. Ingredients are from local farms and the coffee beans are from local roasters. The warehouse setting is inviting with large tables to share and adjacent performance space.
google avatar

Scott Z.

Yelp
Beautiful venue, and I love how this block of Gratiot has developed in the last few years. But the service is ABYSMAL and SLOW. There was one person waiting on a coffee order when I arrived. No one was in line ahead of me to place an order. The worker took a while to acknowledge me standing there waiting, but in a sort of irritated tone. Waited about 10 minutes to place an order. He then went back to load their coffee grinder ONE BEAN AT A TIME by hand, picking each one up and dropping it in. It was kind of comical. I couldn't believe my eyes. This was such an inefficient way to grind coffee. I really wish I had video recorded it. Just a hipster guy in a '80s Cosby sweater, delicately picking up a single coffee bean between his index finger and thumb and every so slowly raising it up and then dropping it into the grinder. It was mesmerizing. I lost track of time. I think it took at least another 40 minutes to make my latte, because I chugged my drink and was there a total of an hour. Very bizarre. Looks like the stage & live music section would be interesting on another day, but if you're in a rush I would not recommend this spot.
google avatar

S G.

Yelp
In what looks like a dodgy block of Detroit sits this coffee shop cafe that shares a kitchen with Warda. Book stacks and a music stage add to the cool vibe. Chatty locals made this spot feel like a home away from home.
google avatar

Yelp
Good music and lunch! Parking around back is free. Had a Vegan sandwich..yum! Black tea very good! Located in Eastern Market...great community..safe and inviting.

Yelp
I love this place, and have no idea how yesterday was my first time there. The menu is well put together and creative--I had the Vegan Breakfast Sandwich with Cardamom Chai tea, both were delicious--the seating is fun, and the service was superfriendly and attentive. Go here!

Diana C.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and layout of this place! Very bright and open with many tables (some individual, some communal). The restaurant/cafe is part of an art gallery, record store, and performance space. They offer coffee, tea (not the widest selection but has your basics), and health-conscious food with interesting flavor combinations. They also had one fresh juice on the menu when I went. They're vegan-friendly and a lot of their food is gluten-free. It wasn't labeled on the menu though, so make sure you let the server know of your preferences. I had the turmeric-ginger tea and the potato pancake & eggs, both of which were great. My friend had the barley porridge and grapefruit brulee which she enjoyed as well, but the porridge was a pretty big serving and very filling, so she was only able to finish about half. The only downside was that it took a long time for them to brew the coffee. When the waitress brought it out, I had forgotten that we had ordered it. Besides that one downside, I'd definitely come back! It's a nice atmosphere to sit and read for a while as well.

Yelp
Truly eye-opening food, beverages, and pastry. I'm pleased as punch this place exists. The atmosphere is awesome, about as relaxed and chill as a coffee shop can allow. The staff is friendly and unobtrusive: happy to make recommendations when asked, but not in your face. This is an ideal haunt to make into an office, their drinks keep productivity humming and the food would be gorgeous in any setting, but is particularly impressive in a small cafe. Great local ingredients and flavors lovingly prepared with some imagination. This place is the New Detroit for me: fearless, incredibly talented, and totally humble. They work hard with a smile to make a cafe you actually wanna hang out in. I'm torn, I want to keep this place a secret, but I can't. The good coffee-drinking people of Detroit deserve a place this awesome. Stop searching and reading reviews, go here/you're welcome.

Yelp
Oh my gosh...delicious fresh food mixed in unique and interesting dishes. LOVED my breakfast sandwich on fresh biscuit, side of roasted potatoes, barley porridge and fresh squeezed carrot, apple, ginger juice. Hubby loved lamb ragu and egg. Only downside was the long wait time after our food was ordered. So don't come hangry, as I did. Atmosphere is big and open with lots of space to move and explore. Communal table as well as some individual tables. Perfect amount of white noise. A bit of cold atmosphere though so dress in layers. Street parking is a breeze. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Artsy, airy, healthy brunch spot. The food is farm fresh with several of options for vegetarians. *breakfast sandwich was delicious. The buttermilk biscuit was very fluffy, buttery and yum. I'd get it again. *my mom said the vegan breakfast sandwich was okay, the chickpea burger was made to emulate eggs instead of a heartier chickpea burger. *the rosemary smashed potatoes might be the best side here I'm not giving it five stars because we got here at 1pm and they were out of a few things on the menu. The AC wasn't awesome so on a hot summer day it felt a bit stuffy. Otherwise, great atmosphere. Wonderful to be surrounded by books, art and music. Great place to come by yourself for brunch or with others

Yelp
Trinosophes is exactly what Eastern Market needed: 1. [T] is a restaurant that serves fantastic food, with ingredients sourced straight from the market (and caters to vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores alike!) 2. [T] functions as a gallery for artists who don't receive support from the traditional gallery system (contemporary art for profit), and provides space for artists who are doing wonderful things in Detroit, but don't receive as much recognition 3. [T] is a fantastic cafe! Great espresso, pour-over coffee and tea, even if you're poor (Trinosophes is quite affordable, especially for quality) 4. [T] turns into a great venue at night, often catering to the free-jazz and experimental set. Considering how much great jazz is still in the area, there should be more venues like this. I don't know that the other reviews, the lower-starred ones, are fair. A. "Going there prior to official opening" is your own problem! As a regular visitor of the officially opened space, the sound at concerts (free jazz, rock and roll, electronic etc) works and is lovely. The sound guy there has been in the city for decades and knows his chops. There isn't beer, they don't have a liquor license, and there isn't a tap. This person doesn't know what they're talking about.. B. "Hunter"'s review, of 'no A/C' is invalid. Trinosophes has A/C and I spent many days there last summer, getting out of the heat. Totally invalid. C. The cafe/venue is totally non-pretentious and lovely. I'm happy the neighborhood has something like this - something for the locals, and not necessarily catering to those who come on Saturday mornings from out of town. If you want an authentic Detroit spot for food or drinks, check it out!

Yelp
Who doesn't love an establishment that is simultaneously a music venue and a caffeine-and-food-slinging joint? The music venue brings in all those quirky musicians who founded and/or carry the torch for the used-to-be rockers and punk rockers and curmudgeonly pseudo-outcasts. The cafe is a daytime place for all of us grown-ass responsible people who have work while nursing newly-acquired hangovers after trying to hang on to our youth. The space is wide and bright without feeling empty. The tea, although supporting local enterprises, is not my favorite. The coffee is solid (beans from Ugly Mug and other local roasters). The music is great for earning avant-garde or obscure scene points but not the best for concentration/reading. So you may wanna bring your earbuds. The food is simple and hearty. The clientele mostly keeps to itself but is friendly enough when you bump into each other. The servers are friendly enough but a little... serious? Stoic? Great for a short socializing moment or for hunkering down for 4 hours to put in some laptopping labor. Also next to the best street in Detroit, in my less than humble opinion. I.e., entering through the back is highly recommended. And the name. Enough to make a lady swoon in her knickers. Alchemy abound in this space. Come out and support it (and get on their mailing list).

Yelp
Went here on a friend's recommendation and loved it! I can't speak to their venue/gallery areas bec it was 10am when I went (although they looked fun), but their cafe atmosphere was wonderful. Great space, live music, & amazing coffee. The baristas are really attentive and friendly too. Doesn't get 5 stars because the breakfast egg sandwich thing was too good to be that small..!

Yelp
Great space! I enjoy coming here to get work done. Serving anthology coffee and others, it is great. They also have a couple baked goods and generally vegan options. I have not attended a show here but it is a great space.
