The 25 Best Restaurants In Berlin - Berlin - The Infatuation

"This Mitte hotspot has been serving up traditional plates of pickles and pillowy boiled dumplings on modern red lino tables since it opened its doors in 2023. Reflecting the mixed backgrounds of its three founders, Trio offers down-to-earth dishes from corners of Central Europe: German meatballs, Hungarian goulash, and Austrian fried chicken. The food and bistro-cum-diner interior are humble and special, cozy and cool, with the power to comfort and wow in one caper gravy mouthful. We recommend trying as much of the menu as possible, but the goulash—both the mushroom and game are equally excellent—washed down with cloudy Brandenberg beer is a no-brainer. Any satisfying meal at Trio should always finish with an apple strudel and shot of hazelnut liqueur." - olivia ladanyi

Trio in Berlin is the kind of restaurant that makes you feel welcome while still surprising you in the best ways. The bread and butter came out first, and instead of being warm, the bread was served cold. It was unusual but really interesting, and it gave the butter a chance to stand out on its own. The portobello dish was rich and earthy, with a depth of flavor that felt both satisfying and elegant. The drinks were also impressive, well balanced and clearly chosen to complement the food rather than distract from it. I got the limonade and it was great. :) The dish that completely won me over was the Kaspressknödel. Crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy inside, it was the ultimate comfort food and easily my favorite of the evening. Service was excellent throughout. The staff were genuinely kind, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The dining room itself is cozy yet modern, with a warm atmosphere that encourages you to linger a little longer than planned. Trio delivers thoughtful food, great drinks, and a welcoming vibe. Definitely a place I’d return to.

Eva is amazing! Chicken schnitzel was so tender. Vegetable soup was amazing, lambs lettuce salad had a honey mustardy sauce was ok, apple strudel was another standout. It was my first time trying Mont Blanc but was not a fan, maybe that’s just me though.

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Berlin. For sure my favorite german-cuisine one. The food is amazing, traditional german dishes, served in smaller portions to be shared (typical small plates), from schnitzel, to the würst, to the spätzle, everything was delicious. The ambient is super nice, a mix of american dinner and DDR architecture. Staff is super friendly and easy going, not your typical moody Berlin staff :) Natural wines options are incredible. Yeah, you should go :)

Everyone was so welcoming as soon as you walk in. Had the schnitzel, the chicken was tender and big portions too. The only down would be it was a little oily but the cucumber salad helped. They also had guest beers on tap. Didn’t book but I was dinning alone so I sat at the counter.

Definitely overpriced for what you get. Food was good but way smaller portion size than expected - had to order another dish to fill me up. If you want goulash that’s tastier, larger portion, and cheaper, check out Gaffel Haus instead.

We visited Trio on a Monday and really enjoyed the atmosphere—lively and full, but not too loud, which made for a pleasant dining experience. The wine and drinks were good, and while the food leaned a bit on the creamier side that evening. The standout for us was definitely the sour cream ice cream—unique and delicious! A solid spot for a cozy evening out. 🍷🍽️✨

By far the most expensive ordinary food we’ve had. The soup had no flavour at all, like it hadn’t been cooked long enough. The ambience was disappointing and the lighting at our table was honestly horrific. I was genuinely relieved I wasn’t on a date because that lighting would have made anyone look terrible. The waiters were good, but the portions were extremely small and we left disappointed. I don’t want to be rude, but the hype around this place is completely out of hand and that’s exactly why I’m giving this rating. The prices simply don’t match what you get. If there was at least some atmosphere it might be easier to justify, but there isn’t. It feels like the people calling this incredible haven’t really had proper, simple, well-made food before. If you grew up with real Central or Eastern European home cooking, it’s hard to imagine anyone giving this a 10 out of 10. The wine was the one real highlight. Which is exactly why it ends up feeling like a tourist trap, especially for visitors who’ve never had basic German food before.

Trio has a cozy laid back atmosphere and great service. The dishes were tasty, I can especially recommend the game goulash ,the meatballs with capers the bratwurst and the delicious lemon crumble. Booking in advance is needed on weekends, we were there on Sunday and the place was packed. Would highly recommend for traditional German cousin with a modern twist, for a dinner with friends or a date!
