Restaurants Find Requiring Vaccines Good for Business, Bad for Social Media - Eater

"A few weeks ago, as COVID-19 cases spiked across the state of Arkansas, veteran Little Rock restaurateur Capi Peck finally knew that it was time to implement a requirement that all diners passing through the doors of her 35-year-old restaurant, Trio’s, show proof of vaccination." - Amy McCarthy

Tried one of the March dinner specials and had a great experience overall. The cherry blossom cocktail was really tasty — nice mix of flavors. Even the water had good flavor, which I always appreciate. The hot crab dip was a standout: creamy, flavorful, and served hot with the perfect dip-to-toast ratio. The crab came in nice chunks, and the bread made great scoops (though a bit dry). I went with the crab cakes to keep with the theme — fresh crab, great flavor, and solid breading. The mango rice was a bit disappointing — decent texture, but the mango flavor didn’t really come through. The aioli was really good, just wish there had been more of it. For dessert, I got the banana pudding — very good overall. The cream on top was fluffy, the crust had great flavor (a bit firm), and everything came together nicely. I am partial, though — I love banana desserts. Parking is a little tricky due to construction, but they offer valet which helps. Clean single-stall restrooms with vacancy indicators, and service was quick and attentive. Total was $67.91 before tip — not cheap, but felt fair for a solid dinner. I’d recommend it.

I finally made it to this spot after living in Little Rock for **over 11 years**—and wow, what a treat! My coworkers and I headed there for lunch, and thank goodness one of them made reservations because this place fills up **FAST** during lunchtime. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated promptly, setting the tone for a fantastic meal. Our server? **A total gem**—energetic, engaging, and made the whole experience even better (sadly, I didn’t catch his name!). Now, onto the food. **Shrimp enchiladas? A+**—so delicious! My coworkers also got the hot crab dip and practically **licked the plate clean**, so I’ll take their word that it was amazing. Dessert was a hit too—a couple of them ordered the strawberry shortcake and were **happily slurping away** like kids in a candy store. Overall, **a top-tier dining experience!** I’ll definitely be back—this time with the hubby. **Pro tip:** Make reservations if you’re heading there for lunch during the week—it gets packed, and we saw plenty of people waiting for a table!

My experience was so surprising. When I approached the establishment the workers were ready for valet and doors opened right on time for 11. I went straight to the bar area and started looking around and saw myself surrounded by various seniors in the building. I felt a little uncomfortable at first but once you sit there everybody is laid back and the servers are wonderful! I started with the peach margarita that did not let me down at all and then I ordered the crab dip which was so meaty full of meat and the cheese wasn’t so overwhelming. I got the lunch BLT which I didn’t get a pic of 😞 but it’s loaded with bacon avocado and yellow tomatoes for a sweet taste. I then got bolder and ordered the lavender martini that just gave such a relaxing taste of lavender and liquor just the right amount on both ends. BIG SHOUT OUT TO MY WAITER I DID FORGET HIS NAME BUT WHEN I DO I WILL EDIT HIS NAME ON HERE HE MADE MY DRINKS AND MADE SURE I WAS GOOD THE WHOLE TIME BUT MY HAT TIPS TO MS. STEPHANIE SHE IS ONE OF THE HEAD HUNCHOS BUT SHE IS GREAT AND DARLING THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL HOSPITALITY AND KIND WORDS AND JUST BEING DOWN TO EARTH. YALL GAVE ME A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AND CANT WAIT TO COME IN THE EVENING FOR MORE GREAT DISHES. People please find this hidden gem that has been in the area for over 38 years. They stand on the name and I love this spot. This is a good one for you out of town folks as well. FYI DONT FORGET THEY HAVE TWO SEPARATE TIMES FOR DINING. I WENT FOR 11am-2pm THOSE ARE LUNCH HOURS AND THEY REOPEN AT 5-9pm.

The chicken enchiladas were delicious and were topped with a flavorful sauce. Guac on top was a nice touch too. I didn’t care for the cheese on the rice, it had solidified by the time it reached our table and didn’t really go well with the rice. I would’ve preferred no cheese at all or a cheese sauce instead. If I were to get that again, I would definitely ask for no cheese on the rice. The black beans lacked flavor and needed more seasoning. I didn’t get to try their strawberry shortcakes because it’s only served during summer but I hear it’s amazing! I’ll definitely be back to try that!

Google
This restaurant was awesome! My favorite thing was the service which one of the waiters was very kind, humorous, and helpful as he told me the perfect place to park by the river. The waiter was also very kind to my son (look on kid friendliness). The food was delicious and I got to try some very unusual but tasty food, so thanks to the chef and the amazing waiter was Gary. Thanks for the delightful food, service, and atmosphere. I really recommend their strawberry cream pie. Thanks again to Gary, keep up the laughing and happiness! PS I’m the kid ;) XD

Three years ago, my roommates and I celebrated buying a house together at Trios, a restaurant we considered one of the best in Little Rock. The memory of that night and the exceptional food brought us back on May 16th as we prepared to graduate and move our separate ways.

Google
Amazing all around. Everything was amazing, I can't recommend this place enough. Fine dining at a generally affordable price, I'm here for it!

Google
Great place for brunch and lunch and dinner too. Everything is top notch at this long time favorite of the locals of west Little Rock. Service impeccable and food is delicious. Cannot go wrong with any of the Egg Benedict creations such as the Scandinavian salmon and capers! We were lucky that strawberries were in season in Arkansas and the strawberry short bread cookie crust was luscious. The crab dip is good and is served with crispy French bread. The bread needed more crisp but still very good. Must do bucket list Little Rock eateries!

Yelp
I love trios! Their soups are delicious, ordered all the chicken salads many times. The chef changes the menu out regularly. You could kind of dress this restaurant up or down in regards to dress code.

Yelp
This place was delicious! We had the beef empanadas appetizer that I didn't get a picture of, we ate them too fast. I had the Thai shrimp curry and it was seriously soo good!! So much flavor and fresh quality ingredients. I also tried a bite of the blackberry pork chop, with a goat cheese better on top. I'm not a pork fan but it was fantastic as well! Very good flavor combinations. Just do not order the hot chocolate, it was the only miss of the night. Tastes like dirty tap water with cocoa powder mixed in, it was not good lol. Other than that the food was delicious. Service was good as well.

Yelp
This is always a stop when we are visiting AR, since my husband's grandparents love this place. They always order the same thing but everytime I go I try to order something new and I am never disappointed. The food is great! One thing I will ask is that, it feels like they are little understaffed and service was a little slow the last time we were there. I am sure it is just a little hiccup, and thing will be back to normal.

Yelp
I guess it's a sign I really enjoyed my lunch and the company when I only got one photo. I had the Duke of Windsor (sliced Turkey, melted cheddar, crisp bacon, grilled pineapple, and mango chutney on sourdough bread) and it is my new favorite sandwich. Our party of six was seated at a large round table, which was perfect for catching up with old friends. We had excellent service and everyone loved their meals. If you are looking for a great lunch spot, try Trios. Next time, I'll try to remember to take some photos.

Yelp
Food delicious. Parking horrible service wonderful. Only reason it wasn't 5 star was limited parking

Yelp
A favorite from "hello" for past many years. Love the ambiance. Service always excellent. Last two visits a disappointment. Both due to food not being HOT. Both times, including tonight, I brought my entree home to salvage. The plate was piping hot but the chicken enchiladas AND black beans were just past room temperature. The rice was the only item that was hot. The black beans were straight from the can with sbsolutely no seasoning, bland & unappetizing. Plzzz, don't let the quality slide here. There's SO little fine dining in that part of town with Graffiti's and others closing, ridiculous waits @ George's ... Our server was great & offered options.

Yelp
Good food, nice ambience. A great place to go with friends. I recommend Trio's highly

Yelp
This has been my favorite restaurant in Little Rock for decades. Its very popular with long term residents, and you often may see your friends there. The food is high quality, reasonably priced and you can tell they strive to offer healthy options.
google avatar

Adrienne C.

Yelp
The food and service is spectacular. Love the spinach dip and it's so addicting. The ambiance is nice and cozy.
google avatar

Yelp
I never would have thought but chorizo and pineapple go fantastic together and the guac sauce on the size was fantastic with it! Would have preferred pico over beans! We got the fundido as an app and the crème brûlée for dessert. All good options!

Jan W.

Yelp
Outstanding lunch. Trio tarragon chicken salad with its perfectly balanced taste, fresh fruit and to-die-for banana bread - my all-time fave. Kobe burger Excellent and the gluten-free bun was Jusst Right (as husband finds is unusual). And Omgosh strawberry shortcake! Friends nearby had the delicious BLTs with heirloom tomatoes & shared the strawberry shortcake also (with "real" whipped cream). Recent visit when restaurant re-opened after tornado damage, the place was as inviting as always - and busy. Get there early for lunch - plenty of parking up the hill & around back, hidden stairway on side of building takes you right to their front door. Excellent service too. Top-notch. Kudos to owner and management. And ... for the men who lunch, too, this is Not just a ladies place! Very enjoyable for all.

Yelp
Last Friday night we ordered the Grilled King Salmon, first hats off Trio's for serving wild salmon and not farmed like most here in Little Rock secondly is was one of the best seafood meals I have had in this city. It's presentation was creative and appetizing mixing the wild king salmon on fried green tomatoes with a corn relish. The tastes was incredible delicious. Split the strawberry short cake which is second to none. Service Excellent

Donna G.

Yelp
Consistently a stable, well run establishment. Dishes very tasty and reasonably priced. Ambience is excellent, cozy. Staff attentive. No complaints, not one. Recommend highly.

Yelp
Another place I've been wanting to try today Trio's brought some delicious delicious pasta for all the TSA employees who haven't received their paychecks (two) during this Government shutdown. The Officers truly appreciated the generosity that Trio's Restaurant showed. Absolutely generous. The catered food was really tasty so I can't wait to go try some other food on their menu.

Tarick H.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent music! One of Arkansas' best! The ambience is amazing. Food quality is very consistent
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Must try the Voodoo Pasta & Peck Salad! My favorite dessert is the Strawberry Shortcake or the Banana Delight or Coconut Pie! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here!

Ann F.

Yelp
This place hasn't changed since it opened. It used to be cutting edge; now it's solid and safe and a little dated. But the service is solid, and the food is tasty. Pleasant atmosphere--always feels a little "after church" to me!!!!

Yelp
Trio's is a solid choice, perhaps an institution for dining in Little Rock. While Trio's is not known for its creativity, it does serve consistently good meals at a reasonable price. On a weeknight recently, the dining room was filled with a mostly elderly crowd, enjoying the $5 happy hour drinks. The stainless steel straws were a great choice - demonstrating their concern for the environment (and keeping plastic out of our waterways.) I liked that. House salad of field greens and tomatoes were fresh and served cold. The pork tenderloin Anasazi was good, yet rather tame - given the description of pastilla and ancho chiles on the menu. The bourbon braised beef brisket was tender and savored. One of the best things about Trio's is that the dining room is relatively quiet, meaning it is easy to talk to your dinner companions. Desserts are large. Wine available. Lots of parking.

DavidCrystal P.

Yelp
We went for our daughter's birthday on the recommendation of a family friend. We were not impressed. For the price we expected more. We won't be going back.

Melanie W.

Yelp
We attended Jazz Night in their nightclub venue next door to the restaurant. It felt like we were in a jazz club in Chicago or NYC. World Class Jazz combined with fine dining is an excellent combination. We have already bought our tickets for the next Jazz Night.

Yelp
Okay I came back for dinner. Food was great and one of the best places for cocktails in town! Best staff and safest place for Covid. Seating perfectly spaced and amazing staff! Definitely my go to from here out! I had the beat caeaser salad, and once more the crab dip. Hey chef! Bring back that shrimp cocktail! Keep it up Ya'll. FYI-Another reason I keep coming back is because of their community involvement and commitment.
google avatar

Jeff T.

Yelp
This is basically a ladies who lunch restaurant, but since my wife was paying I went. Lasting impression the service, it was great, enough people doing a variety of tasks and doing them well. I should know better than order a Ruben when I am not in NYC it was okay but the cup of soup was great. My wife's quiche and fruit salad was good. We wanted to pass on the desert but the cheesecake with a raspberry sauce called and it was worth it.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great distance between other patio patrons. Amazing food and service. Five star restaurant.

Yelp
Gluten Free Review Got a gift card to try this restaurant while I was in town and when driving by on Sunday I thought they were closed, however upon entering and realizing this place was packed with good ol' folk I was amazed and excited to try this adventure of a restaurant. They offer gluten-free bread by Dempsey Bakery as well as Gluten Free Cracker Bread chips for the spinach dip and other meals which is EPIC, thank you Trio's!! Spinach appetizer was tasty as well as the queso appetizer served in a hot skillet thinga majig. My sandwich I ordered had fig, bacon, jelly and turkey I believe and it was darn good and gluten free. My patrons I was with enjoyed their dishes as well, the cold cucumber soup was an enlightening experience and something I haven't had before and was very tasty, especially when dipping my sandwich in it. The service was excellent and restaurant interior was legit, an awesome glass sculpture along the wall and a full service bar. See you soon Trio's and thank you for having gluten-free potions for allergy sufferers such as myself.

Yelp
I like Trios a lot and go there for the food and also out of awe and respect for the community-minded owners, who have done so much for our town. I am never disappointed with the famous Peck salad and strawberry shortcake, which has improved steadily over the years. However, I would like to see their hard rolls brought back. The ones now are more like biscuits without texture or flavor. Anyway, I can get bread at home, so will continue to go to Trios for their excellent food and because I love supporting this place.

Rita J.

Yelp
Trio's has always been one of my very favorites in Little Rock for food and fun cocktails. However, this past week, I must say they missed the mark on the Pork Tenderloin. It was the only bad meal I have ever been served there! Waaaay too much going on in that bowl! Mexican spices and blueberries??? Really? The rice had so much cilantro in it, I could not eat it. The chimichuri sauce and blueberry marinade did not jive! First time ever to be disappointed at Trio's.

Yelp
Came here for brunch. The food is just ok mediocre. Lacking seasoning. Cheese grits are flavorless. Shrimp and grits were ok...you only get 4 smaller sized shrimps but somehow they weren't fully cooked. Waiter took a look at the plate, asked if the sausage was missing from it, we said yes, and his reply was hope it's still good. Biscuits were on the harder side. Reminded me of school cafeteria biscuits that were overcooked. Felt more like fast food quality than restaurant quality. Then the waiter pulled our plates before we finished eating. I tried to tell our waiter about it after but he seemed uninterested, stayed we should have said something before, and walked off.
google avatar

Sara K.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this place for brunch, because I was curious about their shrimp and grits. He ordered the crab benedict, and we shared a side of hash browns. My husband thought his meal was ok. His poached eggs were over cooked. No runny yolk whatsoever. When our server came over to see how we were doing, I told her about the eggs, and she brought him over new ones. My dish did not look that appetizing, but it was good, and I liked the garlic bread that was served with it. Hash brown was simple. I like putting ketchup and tabasco on mine. Our server was nice, but the meals were pretty average. For the price you're paying, it was expecting a little bit more. However, since it was out first time there, I'd like to give it another go, and see if my next experience will be different. I'll check out their lunch next time.

Harry S.

Yelp
Congratulations to the Pecks!!! Good food and wonderful wait staff! Have had lunches, dinners and parties there! Always so good! Chris is the best waiter in town. Always friendly and professional as well as attentive! You must show you vaccination card to eat at Trio's. I salute the Pecks for having the courage to go the extra mile to protect her staff, her customers and the community!! This is true leadership that is motivated by compassion for other human beings!!

Yelp
Take out tonight for dinner... had the Tuscan Chicken dish and the Splendid Farmer (or something like that)...every bite was AMAZZZZZING, from the herbed butter corn off the cob and squash cheese casserole to the garden tomatoe caprese and Tuscan chicken itself, so juicy! But the ROLLS were my favorite!! Perfectly DELICIOUS down home meal, way to go Trio's! Can't wait til next time!! :)
google avatar

Bridget F.

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch. Food was good, but could have been warmer when served. Fruit comes was suppose to come with the Benedict, but asked for potatoes instead. Surprised by the style of potatoes that came. They were shredded. Cocktails were average. No draft beer choices. Overall a decent brunch choice for Little Rock.....

Robert J.

Yelp
Will never be back. Bad food, bad service, and not customer friendly. Many better options in Little Rock.

Yelp
Rehearsal Dinner Review. My cousin and her fiance held their rehearsal dinner here this evening. Service was absolutely excellent. Drinks were flowing everyone seemed happy and everybody had a wonderful time. You could have one of three selections of food that we had pre-selected before arriving. I ordered the pork tenderloin with a balsamic glaze that came with potatoes and asparagus. I thought it was great. My mother has picked the same thing. My sister had the salmon fillet. She was not completely sold on it. She makes amazing food. Anything that is less than par then what she makes is not that good to her. When I had it, I thought it was okay. I am NOT one who truly enjoys salmon unless it's in sushi, so I don't know if I can make a fair assessment on the dish when I am not partial to it anyway. Before our entrees we had a choice of a salad. I ended up getting the Caesar salad and the other option was a garden salad. The Caesar salad was good. Nothing amazing or something to brag about, but it is OK. After the meal we had a choice of dessert. Everybody of my family chose the chocolate mousse. It was very light and decadent. I am not a huge chocolate person, absolutely loved the dessert. I would be curious to come here without the special occasion attached to it. I think it would be a good date night place. I did not get to explore the restaurant since we were in the main banquet room, but the overall presentation of the restaurant seemed pretty solid. Trio's was a good choice rather rehearsal dinner.

Mike H.

Yelp
Trio's is near the house so we frequent it often. They have great variety on the menu and make seasonal adjustments. One that always brings us in is when Arkansas strawberries are in season, they make the best strawberry shortcake you can find. Many of the staff have been there for years, so you get outstanding service. The meals are delicious and proportioned well. I also like the casual atmosphere... You aren't out of place heading there after church for Sunday brunch, but you fit in fine in shorts & a tee shirt.
google avatar

Charles A.

Yelp
This place is great. We came with 4 adults and 5 kids under 11 and the service was great! Food quality was overall great. Stars were the pork tenderloin and the cauliflower steak! All the meals were really good but those two stood out. Nice beer and wine selection as well. Desserts were AWESOME! We had praline cheesecake, key lime, raspberry cheesecake and others. All were tasty. Price is very reasonable. Overall great experience and the service (dealing with the kids especially) was wonderful.

Matt W.

Yelp
Everything was great. Hot crab dip was a good size serving. I had chicken Milano sandwich which was perfect. My wife had the Duke of Windsor sandwich and she loved it. We topped it off with a fantastic strawberry shortcake that we shared. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Lucked up on the first try at this Little Rock Dining Staple. I can't believe I've lived in Central AR all these years and never tried this restaurant. Oh well, better late than never. Today we discovered the Zydeco Gumbo (daily special, the menu changes regularly). It ranks right up there among the best I've ever had! The roux had just the right amount of spice and the andouille sausage, shrimp and chicken combo with that garlic bread-- oh my! All desserts are made fresh-- I was too full to try it but my husband raves over the silk pie. And did I mention the excellent service? This place is a true winner! We will be regulars!
google avatar

Debbi S.

Yelp
I have a young adult child interning in Little Rock, and they could not get home to Maryland for Thanksgiving. They were feeling pretty homesick, and I wanted to send them comfort food. I googled and came across Trio's. When I explained what I was looking for, the manager couldn't have been more helpful. She helped me decide on the entree, sides, appetizer, and dessert. She wrote a card. And then she delivered the food and gave my child a much needed hug. The Chicken and Dumplings were incredible, as were the roasted potatoes. The spinach dip was amazing and the chocolate mousse cake was delicious.

Ashley H.

Yelp
Cannot tell you how much I enjoy Trio's!! All of the menus, lunch, dinner, cocktails, change regularly and seasonally. Desserts are delicious. Staff is fantastic! One of the only places I visit regularly because they keep me interested and they are consistently delicious.
google avatar

Barbara C.

Yelp
Trio's is the ideal setting for a casual lunch date or visiting with good friends. Their light summer menu makes the dog days of summer a little more tolerable in Little Rock. Locally grown tomatoes used in their Arkansas Caprese and Grilled Chicken are fabulous, and I highly recommend this dish. Save room for Strawberry Shortcake or at least plan to share a dessert! Parking can be limited so be prepared to walk a bit.

Carol N.

Yelp
This is one of our regular favorite restaurants! We continue to frequent it by carrying out. We love that the menu changes seasonally. The spinach dip is legendary. Don't miss out on the strawberry shortcake! Another great dessert is the raspberry cream pie. We miss seeing the regular customers when we eat there. Can't wait until we can dine in again.
google avatar

Susanne T.

Yelp
Trio's is a favorite! The Peck salad is divine and the Banana Delight is an all time favorite. We can't go back to Little Rock without visiting this central Arkansas landmark.
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
The Peck's salad is the best! It's such a simple salad but the dressing is what makes it amazing. The strawberry shortcake is also great. It's basically a strawberry pie but it's delicious!
google avatar

Charles D.

Yelp
Good food Avocado dip and Shrimp Enchiladas, Voodoo Pasta were great!! The down side is that you have to ask for the bread first; if not it will be brought just before you get done. .

David C.

Yelp
Best wild salmon dinner ever in Little Rock. I applaud Trio's for serving wild salmon and not farmed. It was perfectly prepared and served hot. Had the strawberry shortcake it's a seasonal dessert and it was perfect. Owner came out and checked with the customers very nice touch. Will definitely return.
google avatar

Clayton A.

Yelp
Good solid food. I wouldn't say it was fancy or anything but the presentation is nice and every meal I've ever had from them has been great.
google avatar

Sheryl M.

Yelp
We eat here for Sunday brunch and for occasional lunches. We have yet to eat dinner here. The food is always excellent. The decor has been updated to reflect a more trendy atmosphere. I love the colors, and I wish I could take home some of the decorations. I have never had a bad experience at Trios.
google avatar

Keashka T.

Yelp
Last night was our first time to try Trio's. Excellent date night location, very quiet, candle at the table, cute especially if you get a table against the wall or otherwise out of the way. Clientele tends to be a little older, which is not surprising given the prices. The appetizer--hot crab dip--was piping hot and delicious. I had the Tasman salmon--amazing! The butter sauce was delicious, and the risotto was the perfect texture and flavor. If anything, the issues I had were with temperature consistency. My pancetta-wrapped esp was room temperature and the risotto was unevenly hot, as if it had been reheated. Also, my drink (can't recall the name, but it was made with blueberries and vodka) was strong, but bitter. My partner had the cider-glazed pork with loaded mashed potatoes, and it was delicious. The rolls are also delicious and fresh-tasting. Overall, I would recommend this place. It was very busy (Friday night) which could explain the temp issues. However, our waiter was superb. I would definitely return and recommend. Remember to save room for dessert. The raspberry cheesecake is divine.

Tracy S.

Yelp
Ordered delivery family pack and it was plenty of delicious food with prompt delivery and a personalized note. We love this place and it is always on our list for dinner out. Don't forget to try the bar, really creative drinks!
