I have been coming to Tripoli in Salisbury for years. I am emphatic when staff are very busy and know that the pizza does get inconsistent. However, on three occasions in recent weeks the pizza I have received has been terrible. The more discouraging issue are the staff I interacted with in the last visit, with my family present. I showed a staff member the pizza I received and explained that this is poor quality, especially during a time when there were only a few customers. He was rude and said “well there is nothing I can do, don’t eat it”. So he started talking in another language other than English, even though he initially conversed with me in English.
A female employee came over while he was talking to another employee, in another language, and laughing. I could not believe this was the response from staff with my family present. The female staff member asked me what’s wrong. I showed her the pizza and the sparse amount of cheese and the crust burnt black on the bottom. She explained that this is our regular cheese pizza and explained if I wanted more cheese I should have gotten extra cheese. I politely explained to her that I have been coming to Tripoli Pizza for over 30 years between Lawrence, Salisbury, and more recently, in Methuen and Seabrook so I am a bit aware of a certain minimum standard of ingredients on Tripoli’s Pizza and I also know when pizza is burnt.
While this conversation is going on, the two male employees are laughing and being disrespectful. Growing up in a neighborhood when I was young near Tripoli’s in Lawerence, and all the years until recently, this behavior would never be acceptable from a business.
She explained there was nothing she could do and would not replace the pizza; never addressing her staff’s intentional rude behavior. At this point my family is anxious, and I was not going to escalate any further conversation during the employees behaviors.
I really hope that this event is address and some training and oversight is established because this is unacceptable behavior towards any person. We presented as customers, and a family with kids, just having an evening out at Salisbury beach and wanted to get some pizza.
