Florence Street Food Guide: 4 Must-Try Local Bites

"Near Ponte Vecchio, this trippaio turns out Florence’s signature blue-collar lunch: a chewy lampredotto sandwich, the abomasum simmered in herby broth and tucked into a crusty roll with salt, pepper, parsley-rich salsa verde and, unless you’re a purist, a dash of piccante; expect classic offal options alongside less daring cuts as well." - Mary Gray

When in Florence the Trippaio del Procellino is a hot spot. The line was long and the busy the day we gave it a try. Resting outside we noticed the line moving along fairly quickly. I fought the crowd to get in my order. Still a bit chaotic I managed to get us fed. The tripe sandwiches were just ok. They really didn't do it for us. Some folks love them...give it a try, you might find it is your new favorite.

One of the best sandwiches in Firenze! Don't be turn off by knowing it's from a cattle's stomach, it's worth to try, it's a very straightforward street food, go grab a soda with it! A great snack after some long walks around the city, I've tried the panini, bread is a little hard me, but the meat is tasty and love a little bit of fat in it.

We had the Pacino and the Trippa, both delicious and salty (in a good way). The Trippa was a bit more flavorful and came with a roll on the side. (My favorite) Location was easy to get to since we had an hour break in the middle of a tour near Uffizi. Wish they had at least a bar counter or something that many other food stands have.

I tried this sandwich based on high recommendations, but unfortunately, it didn't quite resonate with my taste buds. However, I'm giving 5 stars for the great service. The food wasn't bad; it just wasn't my cup of tea. Would still recommend others to try it, as taste is subjective.

The best sandwich I had in the city. Had the lampredotto classic for EU4.50. Sandwich was so tender and gravy soaked bread was just the right accompaniment.

Both the tripe sandwich and tripe stew (tomato based) are tasty and flavorful. The bread is not as hard as panini. Good place to grab lunch!

We had the Lampredotto panini. The meat is tender and the broth is flavorful - the bread was a little too hard for me, but overall good nonetheless. I suggest trying the other famous one at the Central market - that one blew our socks off and was worth the trip.
