Nestled near the corner of Kearny and Sutter lies a magical two story establishment, jam packed with authentic Nepalese cuisine -- Trisara. With a simple inside and dining room seen street-side, Trisara is the prime example of a local financial district spot where walk-ins are the norm, and excellence is as well. While the spot is not incredibly romantic or quiet, their white tablecloths and wine glasses sets your expectation for excellence.
These plates are the real deal. I have now tried 8 dishes at Trisara from Tikka Masala to Chicken Momo's to Chow Mein, and I could easily order ANY of these from the menu on any given day. Their flavor levels (mild, medium, spicy) are aptly described and not too overpowering. You can feel the earthiness and creamy undertones of each curry dish in every taste, and it truly feels like a warm hug on a foggy San Francisco day. Their entree portions are fairly sized as well, which usually gets me two meals in one while I am working or if I am looking for some savory leftovers.
Their lunch specials are solid with a few different choices of entree, and their dinners are exceptional on all accounts, including speed, craftsmanship, and value. I also have had the pleasure of both dining within the establishment and ordering for takeout (quite often actually).
Takeout is simple with quick and relaxed transaction from one of the host, and within 15 minutes there is a hand crafted, indo-Nepalese dish hot off of the stove -- awaiting you to devour its every note of flavor as if you were dining at the table next to the chef.
This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in the struggling financial district of San Francisco, and frankly it may be one of the reasons why Kearny street stays lively. Trisara is definitely a spot that you can't miss, and is the perfect end to a night of theatre, show, and spectacle for those in the city.
