12 Best Indian Restaurants in Charlotte | Eater Carolinas

"In the back of this Indian supermarket grocery chain is a counter-serve kitchen and small dining area, with surprisingly tasty offerings to quickly satisfy your tastebuds for breakfast dosas and butter chicken. Don’t forget to grab a few cake slices from the front dessert case as you head out." - Shindy Chen

I recently ordered Bajji Masala from Triveni Supermarket, and the experience was disappointing. The bajji masala was extremely salty, and when I complained, the staff insisted that everything was “good” on their end instead of addressing the issue. The punugulu was also not fried properly and tasted undercooked. The chutney was just okay—nothing special. Overall, the food quality was below expectations, and the customer service response was not helpful. I hope they improve both their preparation and their attitude toward feedback.

Decent grocery store. Helpful staff. Would highly recommend them for most Indian supplies just please stay away from their in house CHAT items. They offer these in their snack area. Unfortunately it’s horrible. Anyone who appreciates and know how chat is made will be highly disappointed. I ordered samosa chat and pani puri whilst my family ordered papdi chat and aloo tiki chat. All we got was abundance of badly made ragda with minuscule portions of dahi and chutneys which weren’t good quality either. Very disappointed with the taste and quality overall. When reported they did acknowledge and offered another item for free which I very much appreciate but it doesn’t solve the issue .

Visited Triveni Supermarket during a trip to Charlotte, and it’s a decent stop for Indian groceries. The store is well-stocked with fresh vegetables like okra and green beans, alongside a solid selection of spices, lentils, and halal meats, all at reasonable prices for a specialty market. The fresh chapatis from the in-house bakery were a highlight—soft and authentic, great for a quick meal. Outside, a vendor offered sugarcane juice and tender coconut water, which were refreshing. The weekend crowd was a drawback. The place was busy, and the checkout process was disorganized, with three counters but two separate lines, leading to a 15-minute wait. The staff was polite but seemed stretched thin, so visiting on a weekday might be a better bet to avoid the chaos. As for the food counter, we decided to try a few items and we got the medhu vada, egg puffs, and samosa chaat. The medhu vada was crispy outside and soft inside, just how I like it, though it could’ve been a bit warmer. The egg puffs were flaky and flavorful. The samosa chaat was tangy and spicy. Overall, the food tasted good, but it wasn’t perfect—probably a 3.5/5 for me. For the grocery experience, I’d give it a 4/5, but the food counter brings it down slightly to a 3.5/5. Averaging it out, Triveni gets a solid 4/5. It’s a reliable spot for Indian groceries and a quick bite, especially if you’re after fresh juices or chapatis, but plan your visit to avoid peak hours. Parking was also a but packed on the weekend.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at the bakery section inside Triveni Supermarket! A huge thank you to Shresta, the kind lady working there, who helped us. She went above and beyond to write a personalized message on a birthday cake for us, making a special occasion even more memorable. That small detail meant the world. Beyond the incredible service, the baked goods themselves are fantastic. The birthday cake tasted absolutely divine—moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We also tried several pastries, and they were all excellent. This is now our go-to spot for cakes and treats. Highly recommend!

I will go back and update my review after 3-4 months: - Very good place for a quick snack and tea. -Love the Punjabi Samosa with fried green chilli - Irani chai 🙂 - Dosa night is a fantastic idea- 3 different dosa just 11 $ - Fresh meat - awesome - Fresh roti - but quality is ok ok - Bakery is good and tasty but sometimes I feel pricey What we need improvement: - I should not expect ribs when I order front leg - I dont want to miss chicken leg piece when I order whole chicken - restaurant open sitting area need little more maintenance

We ordered kothu porotta, veg noodles, chicken legs, chat, paneer and onion pakora. The kothu parotta was soggy and had no taste. Then the paneer was okay but the onions tasted old. Next the chicken legs were average. The only thing that was good was onion pakora and veg noodles. The veg noodles was beyond spicy and kids couldn’t even touch it. So many green chilis.Spend $60 waste. More expensive than most places.
