The Best Pickers, Peelers, and Tools for Apple Picking | Eater

"A small cidery in Warm Springs, Virginia whose cidermaker (Will Hodges) recommends a beginner-friendly fruit press for home cider production, signaling that small-batch pressing is approachable for hobbyists who want to turn a larger apple haul into homemade cider." - Stephanie Ganz

We tried this cider on a past trip but never made it to the cidery—so we were beyond excited to finally visit this week. The vibes did not disappoint! Super chill, great music, and such a relaxing, cute atmosphere. The bartender was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, the food was fantastic, and the cider? Truly some of the best I’ve ever had. Most ciders are overly sweet or full of fake sugar, but every single one here was beautifully crafted and delicious. While the cider blew me away, my absolute favorite part might’ve been Fanny, the cider dog. She is *the* most precious thing in the world. Even with a busy crowd, she would just flop down and nap like a queen. I’m obsessed. Please give her lots of gentle head pats if you see her—she’s such a good girl. Thanks again for the amazing experience. We can’t wait to come back for more great cider and hopefully another visit with Fanny!

I made reservations here for my husband and I, and my goodness- this place has so much charm! The space is beautiful, the food was great, and the ciders were amazing! Everyone was very knowledgeable and most ingredients and products sold are local to the area. We tried the flight and had to take a bottle home. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Can’t speak to the cider—was really excited to try it. We saw online that well-behaved dogs are allowed on the patio. Do NOT bring your dog. The owner’s dog was not friendly to other dogs. He charged us and tried to pick a fight with my dog. We left.

Yelp
Wow. What a hidden gem this was!! I'm so glad we decided to stop in, just a stones throw away from the Inn at Gristmill and the Hot springs this is a must visit. The cider is phenomenal, ranging from sweet and floral to funky and refreshing. Everything is fermented locally, using a majority of "lost" fruit. Fruit that hasn't been tended to and let go wild. It feels like you're drinking a glass of wild Virginia goodness in every glass. The flight is such an amazing offering, letting you try each unique cider offering. I also really recommend their Co-Ferment if they have it while you're there! We brought our dog and he was relaxed, we were relaxed. It was an absolute beautiful space, filled with so much care. Don't pass up the chance to try these ciders! We took a bottle back home with us to baltimore.

Yelp
My friend had made reservations to check out this cidery during our stay in Warm Springs. We had just finished our hike around the resort in the AM and this location was about 10 min drive away from the resort and 5 mins from the warm pool. Very cute location and be sure to look out for the signs. It was quite windy that weekend so the signs were blown over but easily found our way to the taste room. The main floor was very spacious and rustic. As mentioned earlier, my friend made reservations, paid the deposit, and for the cheese board ahead of time. (I'd recommend doing this ahead of time if you are visiting out of town.) It did take a while for us to get the cider started, but we looked over their options and decided on the cider flight. This cidery was definitely unique and different because this cider is actually dry. I'm used to the sweeter cider side but this cidery was dry and crisp. The cheese plate was attractive and delish. The ONLY thing I would suggest is...less blue cheese. I have nothing against blue cheese, but it was sure a big slice and my friends cannot say no to cheese. hahaha. Overall, definitely worth the stop and the place is adorable! Oh, if you get the chance, go upstairs to their attic. It was gigantic and unique.

Yelp
Charming space with nice dry cider. Everyone was welcoming and seemed genuinely interested in sharing info about the offerings. I went on a Friday evening for Foodlore Provisions and they had such a nice selection of local products from the region. Frozen cinnamon buns, bar bitters, wines, jams, cheeses and meats from local farms. Great if you have a local VRBO. They have limited hours, Friday evenings and Saturday morning. Fridays involve music and a great rotation of food vendors. They opened up the large side door of the shop so you can hear the music if you'd like to sit inside and have outdoor tables too. It's a beautiful experience, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Also couldn't help taking home a bottle of their cider and a canele from Reunion bakery in Staunton. It was insanely good.
