Trolley Square Oyster House

We got down to Delaware much later than expected, but were definitely hungry since neither of us had dinner. I couldn't go to bed hungry and we were kind of in the mood for seafood. I heard of this place before but hadn't been and luckily they were still open that late so we headed over there. It was a Friday night, so the place was pretty full, with music playing throughout with some people our aged mixed on the college students there. We lucked out with two seats at the bar. For drinks, I initially ordered the Blue Rock Lemonade - in my mind I thought it would taste or be similar to lemonade cocktail drink I've had before... It was not that lol. Though I normally do like drinks on the sweeter side, this one was too much for me. But it may appeal to others taste. I ended up just asking for the same thing my boyfriend got which was a Margarita (I think pineapple flavor) which was much more satisfying. Again, we both were hungry and didn't feel like sharing apps or being there too late since we had to get up early. The Seafood Linguine caught my eye, so I ordered that while he got the Fish 'N Chips. There's was different in that they used catfish - we are used to seeing cod or haddock - but it came out pretty good. My dish was also pretty good, with a good mixture of seafood (shrimp, crab meat, mussels, clams) in it. We would come here again - earlier time though - to check out other items on the menu.

No idea how, but my original text that goes with my photos was lost, so here it goes again. Our family came to this Oyster Hoyse yesterday and I have to say it was really good. My wife and son got two dozen oysters ($1.00 each at happy hour) and we also got some mussels, cornbread, fish and chips, and cheeseburger sliders. They got regular drinks and I got a couple of espresso martinis. The place filled up within minutes of our arrival and then almost seemed to clear out, except it hadn't. When I asked, our waitress told me the have a downstairs area. They also have an upstairs area that they open up during their busiest days. Overall, I like this restaurant and I'd absolutely go again. The food was great, as was the service and atmosphere.

Great place, food was very good, asked the server for recommendations and took four of them, the crab dip was a great start to our meal, had some oysters to transition into dinner. I had the crab melt, our table also had a Crab cake and fish and chips. Service was great with multiple tables touches. Try it out, you'll be glad you came.

10/10 on everything!! Every time I come here the service is great and the food is even better. Izzy was our waitress the last two times we were here and she deserves all the good things and praises she's so sweet and attentive. The food is always always always amazing. I don't think I'll ever have a bad thing to say aboit Oyster House. It's my go-to when starting a night out in Trolley. Thanks again Izzy 💓💓

Wonderful little place! The staff, the food, the area, it was all amazing! Had oyster shooters, a black mamba, 1 of each half shell oyster available, and a lobster roll. Izzy (idk if I'm spelling correctly) was great! She was friendly, attentive but not overly so, and overall made for a great dining experience. Highly recommend coming to this spot and enjoying everything they have to offer!

Place is small but its good.. we love hanging out here to chill and some music.. one of the reasons we come to oysters house is because of the great bartender Brandon!! He makes great drinks..

First time visitor at this restaurant. Our waitress was Sarah. Sarah was friendly, attentive, and make great suggestions on food options. We ordered oyster Rockefeller, clam chowder soup, seafood pasta, lobster roll, and a short rib grill cheese. The portions of huge and the prices are reasonable. The soup was watery but good. There was plenty of substance to the soup. The seafood pasta portion was huge and I brought the rest home. Everything was good. The restaurant is small and street parking is tight. We also spoke with the manger Dayton about the great service and food. We will definitely return. They have an outdoor section and look like a rooftop area. I can’t wait to visit during warm weather

We were pleasantly surprised by the Oyster House. It's way bigger and nicer than it looks from the outside. They have 2 floors, a rooftop and an outdoor space. There are multiple bars and tvs everywhere. Unfortunately, our waitress was very distracted talking to her coworkers and wasn't the most attentive, but the food was good, and they have a great menu. We will definitely be back!

Oyster house is a good go to happy hour spot!! Grab a drink at the bar or the patio when it's nice out. The food is always good! Recommend one of the sandwiches and the truffle fries. Bartenders are always super nice and quick to make your drink!

We ended up here for Game Day brunch, which meant we got an $8 Crusher. I had an orange one, and it was so delicious I had a second. They had squeezed the orange juice, so their juice is super fresh! The bar tender was kind and attentive. If lived here we would be regulars. It has a great vibe and tons of seating inside along with a covered patio with a bar outside. We sat at the inside bar, which has seats with backs and a place to rest your feet, and watched some sports while we ate. We came here for the lobster roll. It was on a perfectly toasted bun and had a good amount of lobster. I got French fries and a side of ranch, which tasted homemade; the French fries could have been a little crispier. We got the wings with their seasoning that was tasty and also the crab dip, which was divine. We even licked the spoon.

From Wilmington, but living in Albuquerque since the late 90s visited trolley Square oyster house in April for the first time definitely a five star experience. Returned this past Saturday night. Not as good but still good. Service: our waitress was lovely however I had requested my items to be delivered separately, and they were delivered all at once. When I asked her about it, she mumbled something that I didn't really understand and then she, very noticeably, avoided any eye contact with me the rest of the meal... acknowledged by my dinner partner. Ambience: inviting & cozy, even with very large presence of the bar, which also has its charm. Food... Everything was good the only disappointment hence the four stars, was the last time we had the muscles in April. They were big plump juicy. The muscles I had Saturday night were puny, though tasty. I had it with the curry preparation, as recommended by the server.

Seems to be a local favorite! It's crowded at 8 pm on a Friday. They have a good selection of oysters and you can watch them shuck it at their oyster bar. They have tables and outdoor seating with balcony heaters. The staff was attentive and friendly; the service was awesome. Will definitely recommend and come again.

I live in the Highland area of Wilmington , the bar is about 6 blocks from my house. Been there a few times, but stopped, the area started to get sketchy around there with shootings and fights. Out of towner's coming in acting out. I'd drive through the area in the summer to see cops all over the place. Not a safe area to go would not recommend it to anyone.

Hopped into the oyster House on a Sunday night. A lot of the other restaurants in trolley were closed. On Sundays, they offer crush specials all day long with several flavor options. There were three different mussels that you could choose from and they were delicious! The cauliflower bites were good but could have been crispier. The burrata peach salad had black salt with was yummy but the peaches were very hard! A good bite for a Sunday night! Attentive bar tender!

Delicious and fresh oysters! This is a must visit if you love oysters because they're only $1/ shuck. It did take a while to come out but it was worth the wait. We also ordered the fish and chips and calamari, which were fried well! Crispy and not too oily. Atmosphere isn't too loud so you can still have a conversation. I just didn't like the chairs since they were just metal stools with no backing.

I was craving some seafood for a birthday treat and we hadn't been to the Trolly Square area yet - TS Oyster House gave us the perfect excuse. We came for a late lunch and the place had plenty of open seating and were guided to a table right away. I would highly recommend starting with a 1/2 dozen oysters & glass of bubbly, which I did and it was the perfect pairing. The waitress was able to steer me to the briniest oyster options and I'll be back again for more. The Clam chowder is the perfect balance of creamy/potato/bacon/clam that most restaurants get wrong (too much cream, not enough bacon, light on the clams) - light enough that I wanted more! I chose the White Wine Mussel Pot - a VERY hearty serving of mussels simmered with a lightly fragrant wine & garlic sauce. Only feedback I have is I wish there was more garlic toast, but I think we all wish that. We also ordered the Fish & Chips which had an airy batter with great seasoning. Paired with Old Bay fries, it's a winner. Can't wait to come back and try more on this menu, very happy with our visit!

Great option for decently priced seafood and good quality!! I had the fried pickles as a starter and they were super good. I recommend them with the ranch and aioli sauces. The raw oysters were super fresh and had the standard toppings you would receive. Definitely helped fix my craving for them. The lobster roll was also very fresh, but my main complaint was how little lobster they include (see the pictures) especially since it's a $28 roll. I took only one bite and looked and said wow where is the rest of the lobster They had great customer service and our server was super helpful. The interior is kind of small (and they only have a few bathrooms so you may end up waiting in line). There's also outdoor seating which seems like it would be favored during the warmer months. It's a nice patio area with speakers to hear the music they're playing inside. I recommend and would definitely come back if I'm in town!

Still one of my favorite happy hour spots. You can't beat a buck a shuck! The oysters were fresh and delicious! Bartenders were on point. Place is not huge but very warm and inviting.

Great food, good service, nice ambiance I can see where in the evenings coming here and seeing the shucking would be a neat experience. Loved the old bay seasoning on the potatoes.

Love this place for their HH $1 oysters! The oysters are fat and juicy (size of finger for comparison to the oysters). They also have different happy hour deals throughout the week. When we went on Friday it was the fish and chips. The fish and chips were also wonderful. Super crispy and fresh. We've been there multiple times whenever we're in DE. Service is also nice and fast!

The physical set up is more bar but the food is more shellfish house. Our flight from PHL was delayed 4 hours so we came down for oysters and clams. There's a dedicated person shucking shellfish on a bed of ice, that gives you an idea of the speed of the turnover, the key to fresh seafood. We also had steamed mussels, which were fat yummy morsels in a classic white wine garlic steaming liquid. Seating was bar and some inside high top tables and picnic tables outside. Would definitively come back when in the area.

The food is always amazing and I highly recommend the seafood pasta!!! But this time I wasn't super hungry because the pasta can feed atleast 3 ppl so I got the Lump crab meat grilled cheese.

My friends and I waited in line for about 25 minutes on Halloween. The bouncer was taking photos of my friend through the window in the door. When she confronted him, he said he was sending it to all his friends. We really like Oyster House and the ambiance inside was great, but the bouncer situation was really unsettling.

Nice vibe, good food and drinks! The music was great and the crowd wasn't too old nor too young, it was pretty mixed. I would definitely return. Perhaps on a nice summer night to enjoy the outdoor section.

A great local establishment has fallen to the atlas group. I do enjoy some of their restaurants in Baltimore but they have completely gutted the best of Oyster House. Food is now terrible but the saving grace is the staff still shines. The menu has been completely revamped for the worse, they took away the best po boys in Delaware. When the bartender says he gets asked 5x a day for po boys and management doesn't realize (but still has most of the ingredients) you've screwed up.

Fresh seafood, cute ambience, and good customer service. What more could you ask for?! Had the fried calamari, shrimp po boy and oyster po boy. Po boys were good. The calamari was fresh but definitely not the best I've had. The breading and flavor were lacking. Looking forward to returning and trying more things on the menu.

Really nice bar. I stopped in for a drink and a quick bite to eat. We got a ceasar salad with crab cake, ceasar salad with blackened shrimp and fries. The food was delicious. The crab cake was a little undercooked but it was still good. The margaritas were also delicious although a little sweet. Service was quick and attentive. Will definitely be going back!

Me and some friends found ourselves at Trolley Square Oyster House for Brunch this Sunday to enjoy a mix and match of seafood delicacies and brunch staples. When you walk in, the beach themed decor and surf side vibes transport you to the beach, very much embracing the Oceanside atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy, so the staff seemed occupied, but they were still friendly and responsive to our needs!! The oysters were fresh and neatly shucked. The chowder was very potato heavy, but still tasty. Would come back for more seafood selections!

Stopped in on my day off to finally enjoy some buck a shuck oysters. The service and fun start at 4pm when the place comes alive and people slowly arrive to enjoy the happy hour from 4 to 6pm. Tuesdays thru Friday you can enjoy the oysters which I did for my afternoon. The oysters were chilled, clean and flavorful with a side of balsamic vinegar, cocktail sauce and horseradish. I enjoyed them with a side of slaw and a Dogfish while watching the three TVs that are playing different channels. The bar is very tight so get here early where the happy hour is. I'll have to be back for dinner with friends to try the rest of the menu. The place is slowing coming alive by the time I head out. Trolley Square hasn't disappointed me yet!

What a great happy hour. The burger sliders and the oysters were great. This is the place where I discovered "Crushes". I'm in love! Creamsicle crush absolutely crushed it! If you don't know about crushes they feature fresh squeezed citrus juice. Obviously how juice is combined with other ingredients can make it or break it. My husband got the bourbon creek oysters but I like my oysters cooked so I got the Virginia oysters. I also got the wedge salad but didn't remember to ask for dressing on the side- it was loaded with dressing, ugh. Lots of blue cheese hunks too. Great place, if I lived in area I'd be a regular!

Delicious sea food and cocktails. Try the oysters and calamari. Garlic clams with their toast bread is so good!!! The curry clams are also very good! We come here often for the happy hour deals!

Liked this restaurant until I got food poisoning......I ordered grilled cheese with crabmeat and only had 1 bite as it tasted funny. I sent it back and ordered mini burgers with guacamole. Big mistake. It tasted funny like bad meat. I only ate 1. I was sick with food poisoning for 8 days. I did let the restaurant know and they gave my friend (who paid) a gift certificate. Just be careful what you order, but hopefully they will be more cognizant about the food they serve.

We had a good time in their outdoor area on a warm Saturday afternoon with our little corgi. Their cocktails are better than most other places. Oysters were fresh and succulent. Shrimp po'boy and seafood stew both tasted legit. For the outdoor area we needed to order thru the bartender, but still, the service was very prompt.

Great atmosphere -- first Eagles game of the season had everyone psyched. Food and service was good too. Steamed mussels in white wine were excellent and nice serving size. Lobster roll good -- lobster a bit bland but overall good. Enjoyed it!

This is a weekly stop for us on Fridays to eat the fish. The portions are large, and the food is always fresh. The service is prompt, even though it can get fairly busy. In the summer, the upstairs seating is a nice advantage because it is outdoors.

This is a solid spot if you like shellfish. I've come here a couple of times and had some delicious oysters and little neck clams. The shuckers do a great job and the bar service here is great. There's usually ample seating available at the bar and at the tables. I've never had an issue getting street parking outside either.

This place is adorable. Great drinks, excellent food, really fun vibe. I can't wait to come back and check out the outdoor spaces.

Listen... I visit Trolley from South Philly maybe once or twice a month after an afternoon shopping spree at Total Wine. My experience is always great. I noticed someone gave one star for the establishment not offering a high chair. ... but what about the rest of the experience?? Was the staff friendly and apologetic? How was the food? To give one star for a small inconvenience such as a chair without mentioning the rest of the experience is unfair. I also noticed most of the bad reviews were fairly old and my husband and I stumbled across this gem about four months ago. Now for the reasons for my five-star review: Staff: amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable; offered a beer sample. Food: well done. We left full and satisfied. Atmosphere: inviting. Quaint. We just discovered an outside bar and roof top deck but it was raining. We'll check out these amenities next time as they seem very relaxing and fun. PS: to the reviewer who gave one star for lobster roll being "cold".... it's supposed to be server cold, therefore doesn't justify one star. One more thing: Emily, our server on 6/23/23, during our most recent time out to Trolley was bubbly and such a joy. Highly Recommended

Went during oyster week so oysters were only $1! Also got some items from the happy hour menu (Mac and cheese skillet, chicken wings, and fried calamari) and everything was pretty tasty. Nice casual spot if you want some good seafood.

Its ok, nice atmosphere We ordered a variety of oysters that were shucked in front of us at the shucking bar. They were ok, nothing to write home about. My first impression is that it is just ok but not great Sorry

Partner and I were in the area and stopped here for dinner after reading some favorable yelp reviews about the place.  We started off with some refreshing cocktails while waiting for the appetizers..she had the TSOH sangria and I had the black mamba. We only waited 5 mins for our pyo shrimp and dozen oysters from PEI to arrive.  The shrimp were fresh and had some old bay on them and the oysters were briny and juicy.  Loved it that extra horseradish was provided for the cocktail sauce. We weren't entirely finished with the appetizers when the entrees arrived.  We shared a maine lobster roll and new england fish and chips.  The bun for the lobster roll was buttered and grilled/toasted and the lobster meat was fresh and not overly dressed...very delicious.  The beer batter on the fish crusted up well and produced a nice crunch.  The cod was tasty and flakey...this dish could win awards!  Additionally, the nicely sized fries that came with these dishes were tasty and the cajun coleslaw had a nice spice to it! We topped everything off with a slice of the peanut butter pie...comprised of a dense yet fluffy peanut butter filling, chocolate crumb crust, chocolate topping, crushed nuts and lightly sweetened whipped cream.  Very decadent! Bottom line, the service was fast and friendly and the food was outstanding!  Would be weekly visitors here if we were locals!

The waitress are into a groupie thing, attention to customers, will take second place to their chatting amongst themselves and texting on their phones. first time customers get very little attention. respectful! BUT VERY COLD TOWARDS YOU. However the oyster were wondering. I had a block nine Pinot noir and some New England clam chowder that wasn't good at all. Tell you this could be a great place The atmosphere was wonderful. they have a upstairs and outdoor seating in the alley under the train trestle cool place to hang out. I meet some nice people there also.

My boyfriend & I wanted to stop by somewhere in Delaware to eat. We were traveling from Baltimore to Atlantic City. I am so glad I found this place on Yelp!! The food here is amazing! The staff was attentive and friendly. I wish we had another day to spend here just for the food here. Crab cake sandwich - totally worth it ! For lunch we are at a place that gave us "large crabs" which we had to open ourselves, and we felt like we received more meat from this sandwich! It was super delicious. Lobster roll - also very delicious ! The sandwich had a good amount of lobster meat in sandwich! Lobster & crab guacamole - We loved this appetizer so much !! Which they sold something like this in my hometown back in California. I would definitely recommend this place !

Maybe I'm just not a lobster roll guy. Service was nice and the music was nice. I got the lobster roll with old bay fries. My girlfriend got the breakfast burrito from the brunch menu. The breakfast burrito was the best thing we had and shout-out to our server for recommending it to us. The potato's it came with however were soggy and room temperature. I don't know if this is a one time mistake but it was kind of a bummer. The lobster roll was decent but for the price of it I expected more lobster. The proportions of it felt off because every other bite of it was just bread. Not an entirely bad thing because the bread is buttery and delicious, but ideally you'd want some lobster to accompany it. You're not paying 20 something dollars for really tasty bread. Would give it another shot if I was in the area.

Great atmosphere and drinks. I definitely want to love it here and have been a bunch, but they have to fix one item ... their Lobster Roll. If they made it correctly, I'd pay $$$ for the sandwich. I've attached a picture of what it should look like. What they serve is lobster salad, chopped pieces of lobster smothered in mayo and seasoning, definitely not a lobster roll. They used to serve it correctly, years ago but somewhere along the lines, they lost their way and chopped up the lobster into very fine pieces. Chunky and simple is best with lobster rolls.

Had my first raw oyster experience here and loved it! Fresh oysters shucked right in front of you and a pretty good menu in general. Can't wait to get a chance to hit their happy hour for the buck-a-shuck oysters.

Cozy, comfortable and fast, friendly service. We came for the oysters - both fried and baked, and both were top notch - as we typically expect from a Big Fish-owned establishment (although was not enthralled with the Big Fish on the waterfront last time we went). Good cocktails - not overly sweet and strong. Diavolo mussels were also outstanding. We parked literally right outside on the street - but i can see where that might be an issue during peak hours. Good choice...

The crab meat lump grilled cheese is everything they also pair with fries or chips. It depends on what time of day you get there. It is to die for the oysters are good also very fresh. The calamari is excellent. Well season with the red line and fresh and the cheeseburgers or heavily I just love this place

Delightful lunch the other day! My friend at work always raves about this place so we decided to go and check it out. The place itself looks alittle small but looks like there is an upstairs area. We sat in the outdoor covered bar area. They also had seats in the sun as well. Saturdays is 6$ crushes all day :) so I got the key lime crush and the mango crush (key lime was better but both were pretty good!). My friend got the lobster roll with old bay fries while I got the crab grilled cheese with old bay fries. Both were excellent and we both loved the vibes of the restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and nice. Overall great experience! Def. Would come back and try more items :)

Cute little place, a little cramped space wise. Good drinks, good food (try the PYO shrimp). Bartenders were nice. A nice spot for happy hour or a drink, as long as you're not with a large group.

Amazing food so fresh drinks are great oysters are always fresh and delicious I will always return and the people were nice nice time I'll picture my plate and drink lol it's was so good

My wife and I went there on a Friday. Really excited about visiting this restaurant since it's local to the area we visit.Love the area. When we arrived we were greeted by a bartender that was less that friendly, thankfully another bartender took over and the experience was so much better.The food was great and the service was on point. Didn't want to make my review on a snotty bartender with an attitude. IT happens . Would definitely go back .

Service was attentive and fast, Savanna checked on us often. Martini Monday offerings are so tasty I had two! The tater tots appetizer was cheesy, spicy, warm & soo good - But finally I get to the freshly shucked oysters - a Buck-a-Shuck daily between the hours of 4-6pm! we had 4 dozen that Monday, each with lemon, horseradish ketchup and mignonette. Not all restaurants serve a mignonette with their raw oysters!! Thank You to the House 's Shucker for the night- such a lovely presentation and fast too!

i had such a great night with Aj , Jd, Harrison and the rest of the staff. food was amazing. super polite. i love this place, went solo tonight and still had a blast, normally come with friends felt the same!!!!

Absolutely amazing place. Great food awesome people out of this world hospitality. I asked for a manager just to let him know how great his spot was and I mentioned another gentleman who had taken care of a special request for me and my girlfriend. He was like that's my boss I am f amazed by how great of service you get here and the food is a HOME RUN. Huge fan and will definitely be bringing people here along with me and my beautiful girlfriend. Really had to show love to a great team I absolutely loved your place and thank you for making me feel like family. Much love and respect.
