It's definitely a little gem that many people either know or unfortunately pass by. The quality of meats and other ingredients used in their sandwiches are top-notch. I've been coming on and off for years now, and I haven't tried a single sandwich I didn't love. Though honestly, their pasta salad is what always draws me back - absolutely scrumptious! Always greeted by friendly, quick service as well! A decent amount of parking is available. Highly recommend giving trolley stop a try!

I was really excited to try this new place, but they put one slice of chicken on my Italiano. The sandwich tasted good, but for the price and all I get is a single slice of chicken, just a tad disappointed.

I keep trying to like this place. Have stopped here three or four times and it’s always pretty so-so, however this last trip compelled me to write a review. I got a chicken bacon ranch, the bacon was RAW, they forgot both the cheese and the ranch and piled it high with lettuce that tasted like it hadn’t been washed. It’s close to my house and I WISH it had better food.

Poorly made Sandwich. I asked for hot and toasted, it was barely toasted. You can tell it wasn't made with love. I barely got one small thinly sliced piece of avocado. The pasta salad was very bland.

I walked in to ask if I can get pasta salad for tomorrow. Tomorrow is Sunday and I didn't know that they were closed. They yelled at me saying they were closed tomorrow and that they didn't have enough ingredients today to make the pasta salad. Maybe customer service...?

I got the chicken bacon sandwich, and it did not disappoint! It was made fast and fresh after ordering. They have a lot of other options that look great also, I'll be coming back.

I raise my family and La Mesa, but my children have moved out of the state. When I drive to visit them and ask them what they want me to bring them to eat, there always say trolly stop deli! Thanks for being so professional and so delicious.

I suggest ordering from a food delivery app if you're neurodivergent or have special needs. The food was good, I love a deli that freshly slices their meat and cheese. Ordered the Monday combo. Standard turkey. Nothing fancy. Pasta salad was delicious and the soda fountain was nice and crispy. The deli was busy, great. I love that for you! But it was SO LOUD and it was overwhelming. There was a woman with long hair jumping around everywhere talking at a 8-10. She jokingly rushed me into ordering which actually caused me to get something I wouldn't order again. Then throughout us eating outside she was screaming to UPS people as they're driving by. Again, just so damn loud. Then she'd go be loud in the smoke shop next store. Just an overall bad dining experience.

I Love Love Love this place! Amazing ppl and service. Small quaint place. You can order to go or sit down and eat. Their sandwiches fresh and are Wonderful and Amazing pasta salad. Never any regrets!

Wow!! First time here and I'm in love! This was the best hands down chicken salad I've had. It had such a unique taste I can't describe but it was extremely delicious. The pasta salad was also excellent and I learned they make their own in house. Extremely delicious meal! I'll try a sandwich next time!

Sandwich wasn't bad, but it only had one slice of chicken. Super disappointed to pay for a chicken breast sandwich ( Italiano) and only get one slice of meat. It just felt like all bread no meat. What deli only puts one slice of meat in their sandwiches?

I think this place is under new ownership. It's not the same friendly faces we've gotten used to seeing for years. Sandwiches were never really the draw. It was always about the pasta salad and still is.

What a little gem this spot is! I can't believe I haven't been here before! My daughter and I stopped in on a Saturday for some sandwiches and soup. The California Turkey is so good! Add some pickle and you've got yourself a sammich! We have the chicken and dumplings soup, which was alright. On Saturdays you get a free drink and cookie! They have a few tables inside and it was nice to sit and eat. Super reasonably priced, great customer service, and great food. We will definitely be back!

We've been coming to trolley stop over 10 years they make the best pasta salad in San Diego, we stopped by yesterday for lunch and split a sandwich and pasta salad between me and my husband the portions are so big it fed us both we were stuffed. Highly recommend this deli you have to try their pasta salad

Her presentation was on point and she was even able to put together a very last minute catering order for me, which I appreciate it so much! One of the best sandwich shops in San Diego! Picked up a variety of sandwiches and they were all great. The Killer club, Italian sub and pastrami. One better than the other. And the macaroni salad was so unique, I would go that for that alone. The service was great and will definitely come back

People behind the counter were friendly. Food was prepared quickly. The pastrami sandwich was bland. The pasta salad was bland. Just blah. The price was more than what was posted on their website. And they added some kind of "digital transaction fee". Sketchy. Not going back. Better sandwiches and business practices elsewhere nearby.

The blaring background music is all about "my Bit$h, your Bit*h, dat Bit$ch all this while eating. No escape. Both the soup (very watery) and the Mac salad meh. were below expectations. Portion on the R.B., less than generous, I made one half bigger and threw away the other half of the bread. They call your name and you go get your food at the counter. I was the only customer. Why bother tipping. I should have gone across the street to the farmer's Rest. Subway, right next door, gives this place a real run for their money, as I returned to my car I noticed Subway was way busy. Now I understand why.

Ordered over the phone for pick up, the team was friendly and helpful. Upon arriving I was greeted by both team members. I was asked if I was interested in extras, it's nice they have so many options! Delicious sandwich!

Trolley Stop Deli perfectly encapsulates many of the best attributes of downtown La Mesa: it encapsulates the absolute best of what local businesses offer. This speaks less to the priorities of the city in deliberately supporting local business, and more perfectly speaks to how incredible the food, service, and charm truly are. The fact that it not only staves off a nearby chain business selling similar items but absolutely thrives whereas in many other places the soulless chain establishment would have forced the local eatery to close its doors, further speaks to its excellence. This is a place I have been wanting to try for a while but hadn't gotten around to until recently. When I came in, I at once felt the local charm. The place has a quaint but significant ambience: it connects itself to the community with a mural depicting the nearby trolley stop, along with some vintage knickknacks that don't clutter but add to its simple but effective charm. The service was extremely friendly. Even during the apparent lunch rush-hour, they were incredibly kind. Not only that, they were empathetic to my unfortunate time restrictions and were extremely prompt. The food far exceeded my expectations, though. Not only was the price reasonable, the food was incredible! They were extremely generous with portions, all the ingredients were absolutely fresh that few other places in recent memory have come even close to achieving, and it was absolutely delicious. The wrap was exceedingly fresh. Even hours after having had my food, I still crave it. All of the flavors balanced each other out. I cannot emphasize the freshness enough. The steak soup was warm, party, and the meat was incredibly tender. I was more than won over from my experience here. I will definitely be returning.

I was going to order today but the lady on the phone was so RUDE. She answered with a hello. So I asked her if this was Trolley stop and she responded with a rude yes. Okay ma'am maybe answer your phone with a thank you for calling trolley stop deli. Then she interrupts me with what can I get you. So I started my order but her voice kept getting ruder. I ended up cancelling my order due to her poor attitude. If you're the owner please check with employees because you're losing a lot of business because of one worker and her piss poor attitude. There are several sandwich shops like mama Mia, BMH, Frazier farms who make sandwiches and have better manners towards the guest.

Truck stop Deli has great sandwiches! I've been coming here for years. Whenever I'm working in the area I always think truck stop daily you can't message you have to go great sandwiches it's just a little hole in the wall. You know what they say about holes in the wall they're always really good and truck stop daily has always been really good! Last time I was there it was near closing time I think they close at 4:00 we were there at 3:45 they were getting ready to shut the doors and the lady that was there along with the young kid that was there they both said yes you can order no problem with the greatest attitude ever! Thank you truck stop deli!

Two words: pasta salad. I've never had a pasta salad quite like this one. It's got a creamy sauce on it that almost reminds me of Alfredo but is delicious cold. The pasta salad is addicting and a must to add to your sandwich or to get alone as your main dish. I got a huge portion to enjoy for a few days!

I stopped by for a sandwich at 3:40 this afternoon (Saturday, January 18). The place looked closed with everything put away, I asked the lady at the counter if they were open and she said "we are getting ready to close), keep in mind the hours listed state they close at 4pm. I asked if I could still order and was told yes (but bothered). I ordered the Californian, after they prepared it, I was told they were out of pasta salad, along with their fountain drink being turned off. Not the experience I have gotten when I had been there before. They are known for their pasta salad and I would of gone elsewhere had I known before ordering they were out.

I've ordered from Trolley Stop Deli on multiple occasions and it's one of my favorites, I do wish they added more pasta salad on the side. Service isn't really good, they're more consistent with being rude than being nice. My friends and I usually order together and they never label our food. Extremely annoying since my friends have food restrictions so we need to be extra careful making sure which sandwich belongs to who. Labeling subs doesn't take long and should be expected when a group is ordering together, with over 2 subs. Atmosphere is okay, it's tight inside and when I visit it's usually busy in the lobby. I do like how they give you a free cookie and a fountain drink on Saturday's! Overall, it's a great sandwich place, sometimes they don't listen to modifications so be careful. Is pricey, around $13-15 for a sandwich and side, and customer service is lacking.

Ordered a "gourmet" turkey sandwich via DoorDash and what I received was 2 slices of bread with sliced turkey and cheddar with mayo. I wrote in the special instructions that "salt, pepper and mayo are the only condiments I'd like on my sandwich please" and so they delivered 2 slices of bread with turkey and cheddar and mayo. The "gourmet" turkey sandwich comes with Turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion, sprouts, cucumbers and avocado but I didn't get any of that cuz the lady making my sandwich doesn't know what a condiment is. I'm not even mad just frustrated cuz I have to go back but when I call first the lady is telling me that they did exactly what I asked for and that "next time you should ..." Like I didn't just waste $15 on a sandwich I could've gotten out of my kid's lunchbox. There will be no next time after that call. Not once did she accept responsibility or apologize or offer to redo the sandwich. All she says is "next time you should..." and "we did exactly what you asked for..." No. No, you didn't. I asked to speak with a manager or an owner and she says he's not there and she's the one handles customer issues. She actually found my ticket and reread the special instructions and still claimed that they did exactly what I wanted. We kept talking in circles as I waited for her to offer to redo the sandwich or credit my account or whatever but she just continued to claim that "next time you should..." Next time doesn't help me now. This is the second time this year that Trolley Stop has messed up my "to go" order. I've been buying sandwiches from Trolley Stop for 25 years- as long as we've lived in La Mesa and I don't have a real problem with orders that get messed up but I do have a problem spending $15 for a sandwich that isn't what I want and nobody is willing to accept responsibility or even to redo the food order the way the customer wanted it. Food for delivery has gone so far downhill since COVID. The sandwiches here used to be amazing and probably still are when you get what you order but the customer service is in the toilet. To whoever made my sandwich on 3/10/25 at 3pm in the afternoon- you are wrong. You never even acknowledged that you misunderstood- you just died on that hill and at least my local family of 5 won't be ordering food from Trolley Stop again. Didn't the thought cross your mind at all that why would someone pay $13 for a gourmet sandwich but only want plain turkey and cheese and mayo? What a waste of money. Gave it to the construction workers demo'ing my kitchen.

I have been coming to this deli for about twenty years. I used to love it so much, did the owners change? The quality of food has gone down tremendously, and the customer service has made me never want to come back. What happened?

Food is good but the shopping center needs to do something about people parking in their lot to go to the restaurant across the street. I saw more than one person doing that. I couldn't park so I skipped them and got lunch elsewhere.

Low quality white bread and meat, could make this sandwich for much cheaper than what I paid for it. Unfortunately I won't be coming back again

I just want to say the food actually tasted good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. What I wasn't expecting was that it would make me sick, just a few hours later, I felt nauseous and was sick the rest of the night. I got the chicken Curry salad because it's something you don't often see and I like that flavor but I know I can never go back because it was not worth the stomach pain. I didn't even eat all of it, only half so I shudder to think how I would have felt consuming more.

Very good sandwich. Well portioned and well made. The service was prompt and very friendly. Great place to take out. While the store itself is clean and has plenty of seating, definitely seems like a place to take out. Highly recommend!

The sandwiches are solid, very good every time. Customer service depends on who's behind the counter. They let pets inside despite the outdoor seating available.

I never like to leave bad reviews but this one i had to. IHAVE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE.A young Asian woman in the front was extremely nasty towards me . I asked what the turkey sandwich had on it she exhales loudly and elevates her voice to tell me what's on the sandwich. Then asks me what side i ask the options , again she exhales and elevates her voice to tell me the options then rolls her eyes. I quickly answer and pay. Another customer wanted to order a single cookie and pay with a card . The way this woman grits her teeth and rolls her eyes and says " oh you are paying with a card?" As I'm waiting for my food i start to look around , this place is nasty. There's grease on the walls and food on the floor. I really wanted to like this place and have a great first experience

Been coming to Trolley Stop for many many years (nearing 20!) and they never disappoint. My favorite is the Rosarito Wrap and their pasta salad is so unique and never changes. Amazing. You won't be disappointed if you snag a soup special or dessert either :-) Friendly and quick service every time.

It's just ok. Everyone raves about the pasta salad but I found it to be dry and bland. I also didn't understand the plop of mayonnaise on top. Tells me the restaurant agrees the salad is dry. Torpedo sandwich was fine. Not bad but not memorable. The French dip, the dip was missing so it was just a roast beef sandwich. Boring food experience.

Right in the heart of La Mesa Village this cute little deli has all your needs for a good fresh lunch or breakfast. Super fresh ingredients they offer sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, hot dogs and drinks. With a large varied menu they offer something for everyone including vegetarian options. Sandwiches come with a side and I highly suggest the pasta which they give you a very large portion of and is delicious. On Saturdays they offer a $9.75 special that includes sandwich, side, drink and cookie!

Stopped in for lunch today when I was in there plaza on some other business. Typical deli with a nice looking menu. I ordered the Reuben which came with a choice of soup, pasta salad, or chips. I chose the soup which was ok. The sandwich was very nice - basically as expected. My issues. On checkout there was a +$0.50 convenience fee added to the bill - really? I find this to be exceptionally poor form. I'm sure almost nobody anybody ever says anything. Wish I had. But what a cheap money grab. Build it into your up front prices if you need the money that bad. Not into the last minute bill at the end. Second, when I picked up food I asked for ketchup and was nearly shamed for it. Maybe a little unusual for a Reuben, but most places try to make a customer feel like just that, a customer and you made me feel not wanted. Not sure you thanked me as well. I'll wrap this up by saying that I don't go around looking to give poor or mediocre reviews. The sandwich was good. I actually really enjoy giving good reviews and am about to give stellar review for another establishment in this same business complex. But the treatment here today and the ticky tacky convenience charge earned this mediocre review.

Nice pastrami deli sandwich and great marbled rye. Busy but efficient. They also serve regular tea, which was a win too. I definitely will stop in again. The sandwich's a phenomenal and the pasta is insanely delicious I had the chili dog the other day a high quality dog the chili need more seasoning but all in all a pretty tasty dog. The young lady working the counter is so nice and has the best customer service I've seen in a long time. Thank you trolley stop keep up the good work

Just a small Deli in La Mesa, absolutely delicious sandwiches, just ordered the Supreme Tuna for a quick lunch break highly recommended. Trolly Stop Deli is worth the visit.

Umm trolley station where have you been all of my life?? I have always been on the look out for some delicious sandwiches. Well, I found it here! Granted, I've only been here once and only tried one sub (torpedo), but man was it delicious! The accompanying pasta salad was also to die for and I am not a fan of pasta salad so that says a lot. Shout out to my girl for taking me here because I otherwise would have never ventured here for a sandwich. My new go to...taking a break now to order from here again (even though I just had it yesterday). No such thing as too much of a good thing, right?

Great deli. I/2 sandwich and soup on the side. Pasta salad is great too. Housemade. The guy loved his pastrami sandwich.

My wife loves the pasta, so when I am in the area I stop in for it. I tried the French dip and was not happy with it. Next time I will stick to a cold sandwich. If I decide to eat in the next time, I will make sure I ask them to play music that isn't rap music where every other word was the "F" word. I think they just had it tuned out. I certainly could not tune it out myself.

Pasta Salad!!! Enough said. Great place for a nice, quick lunch. Nice selection of menu offerings but not one where you need a meal to read the menu board. ALWAYS FRESH!! Do lunch tomorrow!!
