Troni's Italian Restaurant

Lordy, Lordy, why have we not come here more!! Absolutely the BEST Italian in the area! Great service, delicious food, and the wine was spot on! The pizza my brother ordered was supreme, no mushrooms, and it was delicious! BEST Alfredo we have tasted!

I’m a first timer to Troni’s, overall great place. My order was 50 minutes late, that being said it was New Year’s Eve. But I think better planning. Be extra staff would have prevented this. They did give me two pieces of very yummy cheese cake to make up for it. The food was incredible. Seriously some of the best Italian food I’ve had in Dayton. I got the egg plant rotini (they gave me spaghetti instead) but it was very good. My partner got the chicken fettuccine which he really enjoyed. Garlic rolls were a treat as well. Highly recommend, I’ll definitely be back b/c they know how to cook!!

My family visited Kettering during the days of Covid19 and ordered from Troni's. We were impressed with the good quality of food so when we returned for another visit 4 years later, we decided to try Troni's again. I'm happy to report that our initial encounter was not a fluke. This place rocks! Excellent quality food all around. Great ice tea, garden salad and appetizers! I had Chicken Alfredo with what had to be the richest Alfredo sauce I've had anywhere. Highly recommended!

Had never been to this place before but needed to get cannoli for someone and heard they were good here. Oh. My. Word. Delicious! Oh so delicious! My only complaint is that it was later in the evening so there were only two left. I could have stuffed myself with half a dozen they were so good. Will definitely be back for these and for a meal soon!

I’v lived here for a year and I didn’t know they were here, boy have I been missing out! Food is very good, Service is great! If you like Italian food, this place is for you!! They have large tables to see your entire family, or a small quite cornered for two. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Look at this Greek salad!! Its absolutely amazing!! The fried ravioli is bomb! The owners are amazing. The enviroment is great! We love it here.

Overall this place was a good place to have an Italian dinner. The Alfredo was amazing!! So was the chicken parmigiana. The garlic in the shrimp scampi and on the garlic knots, was not cooked down enough making the garlic still having a bitter garlic taste. I personally love garlic, so it didn’t bother me. But do wish the garlic was cooked down just a little more. I would skip on deserts. They are not made in house and taste like it. Overall, pleasant experience. Would like to come back to try their pizza!!

I adore their food, especially the trio pasta! The owners are always warm and quick to greet me when they see me, which of course, feels great as well. They take off a month in the summer, which bums me out because I miss it, but I’m glad they can do it for themselves!

Just discovered our new favorite Italian gem in Kettering--and wow, it did not disappoint! The mussels were steamed to perfection, like they whispered, "we're ready," The house-made Italian dressing 100/10 And the chicken parm was so tender, I'm convinced it had a spa day before arriving at the table. But the absolute star of the show The Salerno. Picture this Sicily 1926: tender sautéed goodness in white wine, fresh basil, and garlic, roasted peppers and sun-dried tomatoes. The waiter recommended it like it was a secret. Tommy Toe took the leap--10,000/10 would recommend. Come hungry. Don't wear white. Prepare to enter a flavor town you won't be disappointed

It must be nice to shutter your restaurant and leave (the country?) for 3-4 months with no explanation known to me. We faithfully returned as a disappointed group of 8 people and were greeted by a very unfriendly waiter who after accepting our reservation sadly informed us that they had no lasagna! Why bother opening? I think what these people deserve is a good taste of reality. Please take your business elsewhere!

Since going here, I've always wanted to try their pizza as they looked pretty good when I was dining in the restaurant. I ordered delivery on September 21st. It was a large pepperoni pizza with mushrooms and black olives. On October 18th, I ordered a large pepperoni pizza with black olives and hamburger. This time I ordered carryout and picked it up myself. Both times, the pizzas were very good. They are real homemade pizzas unlike any of the area pizza chain restaurants and they are huge compared to most large pizzas. The sauce is very evenly distributed and tasty and the toppings are great as well. Troni's uses the slicelife.com website/app, and I had never used that before, but ordering was very easy. I had to wait a littler bit when I ordered carryout, but the wait wasn't too bad and they gave me a couple of fresh rolls with cheese and garlic oil while I waited. The staff here is always friendly and they do treat their customers well. This is another great experience at Troni's and I highly recommend.

Atmosphere: half of the restaurant was modern and remodeled and a side room with larger tables and more space bare decorations, good for large parties. Staff quick and very nice. However, we called in a reservation for 2 with confirmation and once arriving at the restaurant the staff seemed puzzled and said they do not do reservation for groups under 8. It turned out fine as there was room for us in the side room but a bit of miscommunication with the reservation and the staff. Meal: we ordered the garlic rolls, cheese pizza, and chicken parm. Our waiter was very nice and did explain the miscommunication with the reservation, however he did forget our order of the 6 garlic rolls and we didn't end up getting them. We did have 2 rolls that come with the entree and they were a solid 9.5/10, the side salad was 9/10 and great dressing. Pizza was delicious 8.5/10. Now the chicken parm. Taste was a 7.5/10, but the size was a 2/10, very small especially compared to other dishes and WAY over priced ($21) as a chicken parm lover this was a huge let down. Overall, this place is a 3.8/5, great taste but lost points for miscommunication of the reservation, forgetting the garlic rolls order, and size of the chicken parm.

Nice little Italian eatery tucked in a sad little strip - you can miss it if you blink. It's a very casual place, paper napkins, no booths. Cute and kitschy ambiance, and oh the heavenly aroma when you first walk in. And the food's fine, they offer both chicken AND VEAL with numerous classic preparations along with assorted pasta dishes. We came early on a Saturday afternoon but it was starting to get busy before 3:00. Just one waitress handled all the tables, she did a great job. Calamari is rings only. Although we specifically requested they not be cooked beyond a golden color, they still came out brown and the coating was crispy. The Calamari itself however was tender and good, but could have been so much better. Lately we've experienced an epidemic of overcooked fried foods and it's starting to tick me off. Anyway it came with a cup of hot, chunky and flavorful marinara. Two of the four garlic rolls suffered a similar fate, I spoke up and them replaced, you can see the pictures. We each had a Veal dish and were totally satisfied. It was cool to hear the sound of the Veal being pounded in the kitchen after placing our order. It was quality meat and we were both satisfied. The sauces were excellent- Francese and Capri styles. Served over linguine. Portion size just right. Salads were fresh. We were checked on frequently. My husband was pleased with the wine. I had a Peroni. We saw a beautiful genuine pizza pie en route to a neighboring table. It looked amazing and I have a strong feeling the reports are true, real NY pizza is here. Alas they do not sell by the slice, but I can see myself coming back, eating two slices and bringing the rest home for gentle rewarming later. Although casual dining, they do take reservations...I had called earlier in the week to see if they had Veal, I mentioned it was our first visit and the time I figured we'd come, and she said, 'you won't need a reservation then.' Something else to note- the prices are very reasonable. Glad to have Troni's on my ever-expanding (geographically) Italian restaurant list. Next stop...... ??

Food was great. As well as the service. Don't let the outside fool you the inside is nice. We will definitely be back.

We tried Troni Brothers today as we were in the area and wanted to help with Pizza week. Impressed! The garlic twists were hot n tasty with a nice sweet marinara. The salad was fresh and customizable. The pizza was a NY style that we had half light pepperoni and half cheese. The crust thin and light but the edge was that perfect grip size for the fold. The underside was crispy and nice. Cheese was fresh and a good mozzarella mix. Lightly sauced more sweet than zesty. A very good pizza to add to the rotation The pepperoni was good, not too thick but not spicy. So thats a personal choice on if you would like it or not. I know some like it spicy or crispy. The Sicilian was nice. Lots of gooey cheese more sauce and the crust was definitely thick and crispy on the bottom. No onions in the sauce but tasted garlic. Great flavors Nice place, friendly staff, and offered a military discount We will be adding this place to our pizza rotation and we think you should give them a go too.

I usually get pasta trio or pizza. Hubby tried something new ... new to us the stuffed eggplant. He really liked it and would recommend it. It has salami so i was afraid to try ...as im picky about meat. Later regretted not giving it a try. They both come with side salad and garlic knots. You leave garlicy and safe from vampires. Service was ok. Good meal.

Very poor communication. Nothing on the site says closed but a paper on the door. Don't know the food or atmosphere.

Though the atmosphere was nothing fancy, everything seemed clean. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable! The food was served very hot, not the it's been sitting under a heat lamp warm, but fresh made hot! I plan on getting back there in the near future!

Disgusting. Threw it all up a couple hours after I ate it. Ordered chicken Alfredo and it tasted like butter only. I tried to fix it with other seasonings and it was just gross. Made me sick and was $26. Won't be back!

Excellent family owned place for Italian meals. It's my favorite place in town. Owner gets to know the customers. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and food. I recommend this place to all my friends.

Found this gem while shopping in Oakwood. What a great experience. Nice menu and reasonable prices. My wife had the meat lasagna and I had eggplant parmigiana. Both were excellent. We will return with our family

Not a fan. Meat lasagna was pretty light on the meat. Red sauce was sweet tomato-y, no depth of flavors. Service for our group was slow, and they were not busy. Arrived at 11:30 and finally got our checks at 1:50. Will I return? Yes, but for the group camaraderie, not the food.

We come in for pizza all the time. Great food and love the atmosphere and coziness of the restaurant. Service is always nice too!

First time to order from Troni's, we got the small New York style pizza, Stromboli, and calamari for takeout. I couldn't resist the smell of the food in the car and accidentally ate 2 slices of pizza before I got home. Pizza dough has a crisp flaky layer then a soft chewy middle, excellent buttery flavor. If you eat slices in the car you will get croissant like flakes all over yourself, but worth it. The marinara sauce was excellent also, hearty tomato and garlic flavor but not acidic. Calamari was cooked perfectly with a good portion. Stromboli was cooked perfectly and a good portion.

New york pizza is my favorite good prices not to expensive quick service lasagne is delicious too courteous staff very helpful nice clean place loved it will be back thanks guys

My cheese ravioli was delicious as was my groups lasagna and spaghetti. The rolls were fresh out of the oven and super garlicky tasty.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Had the Stromboli and really enjoyed it. My wife got the lasagna. It was served piping hot and was delicious

Troni's pizza was fantastic! Would go again just for the pizza. We did also order the garlic bread and were not overly impressed. Would recommend trying other appetizers but the pizza alone would stand to receive a high eating. Would go again.

Was so happy to have this for carry out. Service was great, friendly and the lasagna portion was large enough to serve 2 and delicious. Would definitely recommend and like to return. YUM

I had the chicken parmesan and it was very good. The sauce on the spaghetti was seasoned well but not overpowering. The house made rolls are amazing. Portions were generous. Our waitress, Lori, was pleasant, organized, and did a great job managing a large party of 13. Our orders came out quickly and hot. Yum

I ordered carryout - 2 Spaghetti and meatballs, 1 meat lasagna, 1 baked ziti Ok, first want to address some of the low ratings...just curious what your expectations are...is this some magical place that you get a $50 plate of delicious Italian food for 1/4th the price? No. Is it any good though? HECK YES. If you can find better at this price please tell me where! Food was great for the price, got a ton of food, so basically food for 2 meals (dinner + lunch following day) at a great price. Service was spot on for carry out during a busy time (friday dinner)everyone was friendly and patient which is hard to find these days understandably. Place was clean and actually looked nice if you your looking for a place to actually go. Next I'll try the pizza and give a review accordingly. Thanks Troni's!!

For solid traditional Italian food this is a nice little place to go. The staff was friendly and attentive even with being very busy. The space is small but the table layout is excellent and you don't feel crammed in. The food was very good.

Classic family Italian restaurant. Great food great service. I ate the classic spaghetti and meatballs. The meatball was fantastic. I've also had pizza there that is phenomenal.

Without question the best pizza in Dayton, NY style. Their sauce is perfection, crust is perfectly balanced between crunchy and chewy. Learn from me- I love toppings but keep it simple, 1 topping to truly enjoy the fabulousness that is tronis pizza. Don't forget to add an order of meatballs!!

In a sea of mediocre pizza, A large Troni's well bake will cure your ailments. the old fashioned is also a great option. is it the best pizza in the world? no. is it the best Dayton's got? Absolutely. get a peroni or three, get a well bake cheese or old fashioned, and have a good time. Do not listen to people leaving negative reviews. they probably rant and rave about marions or flying pizza, and how they just *love* spaghetti warehouse. nasty!! the pictures also don't do the pies justice.

Meh I should love this place. It's locally owned. Food is prepared fresh, in house. Prices are good. Those are all characteristics I'm looking for when I eat out. Somehow Troni's always seems to miss the mark a little though. Servers are friendly but service is hit or miss. A pet peeve is that they make the soup to order meaning you don't get it with the salad course, but at the same time as your entree. Also it hasn't been simmering. We all know that soup needs time to be excellent. Some of their entrees are excellent. Pasta is cooked properly, sauces are flavorful and varied. Jimmy's is just a couple of miles away with the same menu-many of the same recipes-but with consistently excellent service.

This is just a pretty middle of the road Italian place. The restaurant has the vibe of a pizza place more than a sit down dinner. The service is fine. Overall the food was just a lot of bland cheese, we tried a few different dishes and just felt it lacked a lot of seasoning or more interesting tastes. The house salad is what I would expect from a pizza place. I think if your only goal is lots of cheese it is a good enough place, if you like Italian with more flavor or interesting spices, try a different restaurant. I would recommend other local options.

Very average. Ordered a hot (as in temperature) pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. Got a lukewarm pepperoni pizza that had no extra cheese. The pizza lacked flavor too. Probably won't go back.

I've been on an Italian food rampage for some reason this past month...comfort food maybe during the after holiday doldrums and cold weather? BTW ... according to Tom they make the BEST pizza ever. I went for a full blown meal. This place is tucked into a very small strip mall (3 or 4 storefronts) located at a "major" intersection. No curb appeal. Salads in Italian joints are always disappointing to me. They always have their little plastic container of dressing tucked into the corner. and are pretty much iceburg lettuce. But at least it's a salad, and served with the most delicious garlic knot rolls I've ever had. I can take my bread or leave it, but I ate my full allotment here! Then Eggplant Parmasian...an it was to die for. I ate the whole generous thing at once (unheard ...I always leave food) My girlfriend polished off her baked Ziti as well. We were unusually quiet as we shoved this feast down our throats. Of all the Italian joints I've eaten at, this was hands down the winner. So take Tom J.'s advice and see for yourself. And if you're a pizza lover, by all means try this pizza. I'll probably be in an Eggplant rut, cause I tend to repeat fave meals over and over.

I came here for dinner tonight with my dad to try some NYC style pizza. We ordered the 16" with extra sauce and pepperonis with two side salads with the house italian. The salads came out, and while there weren't many ingredients on it, it was very fresh and I loved the garlicky dressing. Later we got our pizza and it was delicious. The crust was super thin as it should be, and the flavor was spot on. I would definitely get their pizza again and I'd like to try some of their others. If you want some good thin crust pizza in Dayton, try Tronis. Update: I've come to Tronis since I've just had their pizza and decided to try some pasta this time. I got the baked cheese ravioli with meatballs and it was awesome. It was covered in cheese that was golden and bubbly and the meatballs were flavorful and moist. Great pizza and pasta!

I heard this place was the place to come for real NY style pizza. I was not disappointed to find that statement true. We stopped in here for a late dinner on a Thursday. The pizza came out very hot to my delight. The crust on the pizza was thin and crisp with just the right amount of "flop". The sauce was light and tangy and it complimented the cheese very good. Ive been looking for a real NY style pizza here in the Dayton and I'm happy to say I've found one. We look forward to coming back and trying something else from the menu, maybe some past or a calzone.

This is my second visit to Troni's! It's a little hidden Italian gem hidden in Kettering. It's nice to have an authentic Italian restaurant in Dayton! They are known for their pizzas and I have ordered them during my initial visit. It was delicious and the crust was amazing! I came here with a friend on a Wednesday night and it was already filled at 5:30 pm. They get crowded pretty quickly and they do not take reservations. I ordered a veggie lasagna and it came with a side salad and garlic knots. My friend ordered their special which was the lobster ravioli. Their portions are huge so do come hungry. Troni's will not disappoint if you are craving Italian food.

My family loves Troni's!! The atmosphere is great and the food is fantastic. The staff has always been so nice and helpful.

Hearty pizza and excellent pasta. Many choices! Good wine list. A family business with attention given to the quality.

If you are looking for not over sauced and truly authentic, go to Franco's. By the way, stay away from the veal. Did not resemble veal in any way. Very tough and flavorless. Because of the very good service, we are willing to give it one more try but with the pizza this time.

Amazing dinner spaghetti and meatballs! Hot and delicious! My said his calzone was AWESOME! Highly recommend this place! This place rocks and the food is BOMB! Don't confuse this with Troni Brothers, not affiliated anymore! This is the real deal! Great customer service also!

This review is for the Dorothy Lane Troni. Loved Troni's pizza in the past. Recommended to everyone. On 9/27/2021 got a large cheese takeout. Friendly staff. Cooked properly. Good crust. It was tasteless. I'm sure the ingredients were changed. Tasted like cheddar cheese. The next day, we reheated leftover pieces. Troni pizza always tasted great reheated. Totally different. When I removed it from the fridge, yellow chunks throughout. Thought it was fat, but on closer inspection, looked like cheddar cheese. Basically tasteless except for the taste of what I am sure was cheddar cheese. Please raise your prices and go back to your original ingredients.

Great place to eat! We came in and it was rather busy but we were seated quickly and were treated as if we were the only people there. Place is small so it looks cramped but it doesn't feel that way. Our food came quickly and it was hot and fresh. Great New York style pizza. I'd say the cost per topping is a bit much but it was still great food.

we ate their several years ago and it was good.... Well just Friday... We ate there again....(I heard they were bought out and they were keeping much of the same recipes) I decided to order the appetizer of calamari.. And my dude order a calzone... My calamari was overcooked (and I mean burnt) flavorless, fishy and unseasoned... I'm not mad about the lack of salt tho... But there was a little bit of greenery and a few specks of parmesan cheese... But otherwise no flavor and no tender crunch... Was kinda like chewing a cheap piece of gum... Like bazooka gum...I didn't even eat half of it. My guys order was a pepperoni and sausage calzone... The outside wasn't even buttered.. The assumption would be there would be parmesan cheese on top... Shove kind of seasoning... Even the marinara sauce was tomatoes.. uuuhm tomatoes only.. With no seasoning.. Not even a basil taste... Nothing...I would rather go to spaghetti warehouse for my calamari (that's even been sad my last visit... But we all know everyone is cutting corners).... But the menu says pepperoni and sausage calzone... Cheese is included... But it had cheese.. Just cheese and it would have been nice if the different cheeses would have been mentioned... Like he loathes ricotta cheese... Just a bad experience..

We were in the mood for pizza at a sit down restaurant. WOW! NY style pizza was excellent...with sliced sausage. But the garlic rolls are great! We'll be back.... Small parking lot with only one handicapped spot, so for us wheelchair bound folks, go during the off hours. I hear it's packed for dinner!

I do not think the two Troni's restaurants are the same at all. The dorothy lane location is far superior. First off, you actually feel the true pizzeria vibe here while the other just lacks that charm. Secondly, and more importantly, the sauce/crust are far more consistent with NY style pizza while the wilmington pike location has an extra sweetness (please note: this is a negative in terms of NY style pizza). Flying pizza?...more like fly past it...doughy to say the least. While I will remain slightly open to trying other contenders, I will maintain a skeptical palate. My only criticism, since it is so good, others know this too, and it can take up to 45 minutes to get your carryout pizza on a friday night depending on when you call, eh such is life. worth the wait. ps the calamari is also fantastic. enjoy frequently.

We had seen several people on social media talking about Troni's. We decided to check it out and we will be back! Absolutely amazing food! The staff was wonderfully attentive and friendly. We highly recommend a visit to this family owned gem!
