I was really looking forward to having a fabulous brunch, but had only an ok experience.
First the vibe inside is great - the décor, the bar. But the music is simply too loud for the space, for a Sunday brunch at least, especially at the tables around the bar. Of course music makes poor acoustics better (no overhearing every word of everyone at every table around you) but it also makes an intimate conversation more challenging. This may just be a one-time experience because there was a party of about 15 people sitting next to the bar, so we had music and their boisterousness to contend with and one of us is a low talker.
Next, we were all disappointed that the menu limited us to ordering brunch and the brunch menu is less varied than many other places in PVD, tbh. I was hoping for the basic Troop burger; the Hangover Burger just has too much going on for me for a Sunday: bacon, egg, cheese, burger would have been too much lifting! My husband ended up getting the Hangover burger, I had the Local Farm Omelette, our friend ordered That Chicken Sandwich. The burger was delicious - but my friend and I were a bit disappointed. For me, the ratio of cheese to vegetables was way off for a dish that calls itself "Local Farm," way more cheese and fewer veggies than I expected. My friend was surprised that her chicken was fried. Now, for me that would have been heaven, but nope, she felt she should have been asked if she wanted fired or grilled like she would have been if she'd ordered the Farm Fresh Salad.
Service was ok for just a regular day, but with that giant party near us I think the wait staff did really a good job. While they were a bit slow in getting to us, when our waiter came over he was attentive and thorough.
So, definitely come for the burgers. Oh and the drinks, of course!
