Tropes & Trifles

This was my first time visiting this store, I went in to buy a Christmas gift for a friend who likes the romance genre. I was really impressed with the staff’s enthusiasm and energy in helping me find something this friend would enjoy - 2 staff members picked out half a dozen books they thought would fit my criteria well and then sat down with me in a comfy chair/couch corner and described each in detail so I could make an informed choice. That was above and beyond just offering a recommendation. I imagine this store is a romance reader’s dream - bright, cheery, well-organized, with lots of great books and easy to find categories. I really appreciate the attention to detail and customer experience. If you or someone you know enjoys this genre - I would definitely recommend checking this store out. They had great non-book gift items too!

Stopped in on a trip to Minneapolis over the summer and I cannot recommend this store enough. The staff was so sweet but not at all overbearing, the selection was fantastic with signed books everywhere you turned, and I ended up leaving with more than I intended to just because I wanted to support such a great bookstore. Been to a handful of romance only bookstores around the country and this is the one I wish so badly I was local to, easily my favorite. HIGHLY recommend!

I love this bookstore. I'm not even that big of a fan of romance, but I will read it just to browse and enjoy this store. The staff are so kind and helpful and the atmosphere is welcoming and happy. I cannot recommend this bookstore more. (Also they carry stuff besides romance)

Stopped by during a quick visit to the city and was blown away. Really well-organized and a fantastic selection. I also loved the not-romance and non-fiction sections-- I was able to grab a couple things I've been meaning to read in addition to the stack of romances I got. I also appreciated the LGBTQ heart stickers on spines of books featuring queer characters, rather than pulling them out into a separate section. Overall just a perfect place!

If you love romance and independent bookstores, this place is undoubtedly for you. Wide selection, some cute decor, tons of written recommendations, very informative staff that helped my SO find something obscure. This is not your average windowless, dank and dusty book dungeon (not knocking it, those places give me life. And allergies.).

Love. This. Place! I’ve recently started to really enjoy romance novels, and as a man I was quite nervous about going into the space. I felt totally welcome and boy oh boy do the fantastic staff here have a recommendation for every occasion. Buy local and support this incredible store!

It ate and left no crumbs. Fantastic vibes. Everything I want in a bookstore: well curated, knowledgeable staff who make recommendations, super inclusive space (very LGBTQIA+ friendly with books for those audiences as well). I spent half an hour talking over authors I like and getting recommendations I’m really excited about. Spiritually, I needed this.

Ahhh, I absolutely love this magical place. The 2 staff members I spoke with were so friendly and genuinely excited to talk books. They also have shelf talkers with staff recommendations AND blank ones for customers to create as well. I loved the bright open space and how well organized the books are by genre. This welcoming and encouraging vibe made me so happy. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in town.
