The 2020 Seattle Hanukkah Food Guide - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Trophy, which serves some of the best cupcakes in town, has a bunch of Hanukkah treats available from December 9th to 20th. Cupcake-wise, they’re featuring a chocolate cake with a blue vanilla frosting swirl and a dreidel decoration as well as a sufganiyot-inspired cake filled with raspberry jam and topped with cinnamon sugar buttercream. You’ll also be able to order a package of salted caramel and jelly donut-flavored macarons, gift sets with or without wine, and kits to decorate your own cupcakes. Trophy’s also putting on a pop-up at the Mercer Island JCC on Sunday, December 13th, where their cupcake van will be selling six-packs of cakes and DIY kits from noon to 1pm." - aimee rizzo

This is my go-to spot in University Village—but not for the cupcakes (I know, shocking!). It’s all about the macarons for me. I’ve tried almost every flavor they offer, and I genuinely love them all. The texture is always spot-on—crispy shell with a soft, chewy center—and the flavors taste exactly how they’re described, which is rare with macarons. They’re not overly sweet, just perfectly balanced, and you can tell they’re made with quality ingredients. Every time we’re in University Village, it has pretty much become a ritual to stop by Trophy and grab a box of macarons. It just doesn’t feel right to leave without them! Whether it's pistachio, lemon, strawberry cheescake, or something seasonal—they nail it every single time. They make such a nice little treat, and honestly, I could eat them all in one sitting if I didn’t have to share. I did try their cupcake once (because how can you not?), and while it was cute and beautifully made, it just didn’t hit the spot for me personally. The macarons, though? Total game changer. If you’re a macaron lover like me, this place is 100% worth checking out. Trophy might be known for their cupcakes, but for me, they’re a hidden gem for macaron lovers. Trust me—once you try them, you’ll keep coming back too.

Google
The cupcakes look really pretty, but they are SO dry and pretty bland. It’s very hard to tell the difference between flavors… seriously lacking. For the salted caramel I couldn’t even taste a hint of caramel flavor.

Makayla Kent

Google
If they have the lemon meringue cupcake please give it a try! (if you like lemon) The lemon macaron was also really nice. I like the strawberry cheesecake also. Another great cupcake was the hummingbird. It was really nice, being from the south I appreciated the flavor combination of the fruits in the cake. Nicely done. Will probably be back and give another flavor a try before flying out. Its a nice cupcake place for a sweet treat before or after dinner, whichever!

Google
I ordered seven dozen cupcakes and a cutting cake for my wedding. For what I here, the Cupcakes were just good . Did not get to try the cupcakes. Here is the BUT. The cutting cake was so hard. When we tried to cut it we both thought it was frozen. completely unedible. Consistency of a hard dry sponge. Everything did look beautiful. But. We don't think the quality Justified the cost of that big of an order.

Google
Picked up Pre ordered cupcakes for graduation today at the university village location and both the young man and young lady were so friendly and helpful. The cupcakes were so fresh and delicious! Everyone enjoyed them. Trophy cupcakes are the best!!

Kassia Kubicki

Google
My cupcake looked beautiful, but tasted so nasty. My wife and I both felt sick to our stomachs after a few bites (we got different flavors) and ended up throwing the rest in the trash. :( I do not recommend this place. Go literally anywhere else in the mall for a sweet treat

Google
My friends from Bay Area requested getting his triple chocolate cupcakes. My order was blueberry pie, it was good, cream on top is not too sweet, cake was little flaky, I like them to be more dense. It is pricey $5 for small cupcake.

Google
Cute little cupcake shop! The cakes were moist & frostings were very flavorful & soft! They did not skimp on lemon on that lemon cupcake! Was nicely filled with good textured crumbs on the side! Definitely a nice splurge on some treats! Each cupcake around $6.

Yelp
LOVE their cupcakes! My husband and I stopped here to grab a little sweet treat to celebrate our little one! The inside is super cute and it's located in a shopping plaza with tons of stores and parking. Staff was friendly! We got their hummingbird cupcake and it was so delicious and very moist and not overly sweet! Will definitely be returning to try their other cupcakes.

Yelp
I used to work at the village and would go to Trophy after work. Their macaroons are the unsung hero. I love the bake on them and there is a nice bite that is satisfying. If I could watch a ASMR video on macaroon crunches I would pick Trophy. Their macaroons next to Bakery Neuvou are pretty on par. My favorite flavor is pistachio and I've tried all the flavors. None of the flavors taste super artificial or fake. I tried a macaroon shop at Bellevue Square and the packaging is nice but the macaroons are a little hard. Trophy hits on all levels. The service is always great in this small shop. Whoever does the training, kudos on excellent customer care. I'll do a cupcake review another time. In short, they are excellent and very Seattle. Great job Trophy. Consistency throughout all of your locations. I appreciate it.

Yelp
This spot was the last one that we went to in University Village before leaving and I'm so glad that we went in. They had gluten-free cupcakes and I had one of each. They were sooooo good. The best part? The box they came in. Even when dropped, clumsy spouse, they didn't fall, there was no frosting slide, and did I mention the nice soft cupcakes and the great frosting? We were welcomed upon entry which felt food and they had some interesting flavors. The grandbabe had candy from another spot, so he didn't get a cupcake. I loved the look of the shop and thought that it was quaint and cute. And the attitude of the employees matched the warmth of the shop. The only reason I'm not coming back is because I don't live in the area and I'm not sure I'd have a reason to go to University Village, however, if I'm ever in the area, I'm definitely dropping by.
google avatar

Yen D.

Yelp
Service was quick and I found out they also have macarons. They have chocolate and the fruit collection. There's no place to sit however.
google avatar

Maxine L.

Yelp
Little cupcake shop in u village offering boxes and a variety of interesting cupcake flavors. The people working were helpful and nice, taking the time to explain the different flavors of the cupcakes to me. I ended up getting a lucky charms cupcake which had vanilla frosting, vanilla base, and a cereal milk favored filling. The cupcake overall was pretty good. I'd prefer less frosting as it got a little too much. I liked the filling and the cake base itself. Overall, not bad! Definitely a place to go when craving a single cupcake.
google avatar

Yelp
The cupcakes were pretty good. They were also packaged well. The person who helped me was friendly and helpful. It was pretty empty when I arrived and they were changing out some of the options. Cute spot to grab a nifty cupcake!
google avatar

Madie D.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful, as always. Their cupcakes are the perfect size, perfectly moist, and perfectly crafted with respect to the cake to frosting ratio. I literally sprinted in one minute before closing and received such warm service, despite my rushed arrival. The cupcakes are reasonably priced and always fresh, even at the end of the day. I love all the flavors they offer! These cupcakes are the perfect treat for any lake day sunset, especially on a warm day when you can't transport ice cream all the way to a viewpoint.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered my gender reveal cupcakes from here. The process was so simple on their website; choose which one you want and the date/ time for pick up. They have a bunch of different cupcake occasion sets. Each set decorated in such a cute way. There are a range of flavors and the ability to walk in and get 1 to how ever many you want. I love looking at the pre-made ones and deciding through the glass which one I would like to try. The decor in the shop is cute and sometimes you can also find cute knick knacks to purchase.

Yelp
This was a 5 - twice. Meaning we ordered for 2 separate events over a 7 week period and both times they were great! We ordered custom (with our logo) macaroons and the tower presentation plus extra macaroons were great. What a really nice centerpiece and the logo was a nice additional touch.

Yelp
My daughter and I were in seattle from out of town, roughly 3 hours she had surgery earlier in the day and I wanted to get her one of her favorite treats that for us where we live are harder to find. We ordered 3 macarons, 1 milky way galaxy, 1 strawberry cheesecake (her favorite) and 1, 24 karat chocolate... the last one sadly left ALOT to be desired in the center the chocolate ganache had not been mixed well and she got an extrem amount of salt which was not only sad but very upsetting to our stomachs. Unfortunately that wasnt where the disappointment ended i also got one of their triple chocolate cupcakes, i personally feel i could have gotten the same thing at a grocery store. My guess they were just having an off day but i wish i had gone somewhere else for our needs friday while we were visting seattle
google avatar

Nadjia M.

Yelp
If you want a quick treat I recommend the salted caramel and the carrot walnut cupcake. Both were moist and tasty. My only complaint is it seemed like the cupcake was more frosting than cake. Wasn't a huge fan of the vanilla. The cake was a little dry but I appreciate how dense it was.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
Cute location in uvillage. We only tried macarons this time. The inside is small without seating. But there are some outdoor seats in the uvillage. Im a macaron snob so I didn't find these particularly impressive. They were made well but not very flavorful. I've definitely had worse and have had better. Not really worth $2.50 to be honest.
google avatar

Wina G.

Yelp
If you wanted to be wow'd by really pretty cupcakes, this is the place to come. The cupcakes are pretty much works of art almost and they are tasty as well. You can even build your own cupcakes! Your treats come boxed so you don't have to worry ruining the cupcakes before you devour them yourselves. They're not cheap, around $6 but they are really good. We stopped at the U Village one, super nice staff.
google avatar

Devora L.

Yelp
I went to U Village for the first time in a while when I stumbled upon a sign talking about cupcakes. So, I walked into this cute little shop and ordered a soft serve on a cone and a gluten free salted caramel cupcake. The staff working were okay not the friendliest or most helpful until I asked questions. The soft serve reminded me of the one from McDonalds, just in a waffle cone. I didn't try customizing it or anything to just try the ice cream. Anyway, the cupcake was so delicious I haven't had a gluten free cupcake that tasty in so long! It was moist and soft and maybe had a little much frosting but overall really good.
google avatar

Lee A.

Yelp
I was disappointed this time around because the cupcakes were pretty dry. For the price, in my opinion, they need to be a lot better. Maybe it was just a bad day - usually they aren't so dry. The employee working was very fast and it took like 1 minute to order and pay! Since the pandemic and days of online shopping with no lines, speedy in person service is awesome!
google avatar

Rashmi P.

Yelp
one of the best cupcakes and macrons i tried. love the filling it's so fresh and not too sweeter side. For my daughter's birthday we order ombre cake and it was fresh and yum too.

Chet Y.

Yelp
I ordered 4 cupcakes tonight and brought them home. When opening the cupcake I noticed the bottom portion was made smaller while the top was normal and had a lot of cream on top. I have been a long time customer and won't be back because of this. Thought this was the only one and opened the other 3 cup cake in the box and it was the same. Won't be coming back here especially when it is not cheap. Check your cupcake and you will see that the bottom portion they made it smaller.

Yelp
Cute & Quaint little cupcake shop in University Village. Loved the bright decor and how warm and inviting it was even though it was a small space. Fresh baked cupcakes with gorgeous, yet simple, decorations. I loved that this store carried everything you need for a quick party setup like cards and party decor. The packaging for my order just added the cherry on top! I ordered the "Hummingbird" cupcake which was a banana cake with coconut and pineapple and a cream cheese frosting. It was AMAZING!!! The cupcake was moist and flavorful and the frosting was light, airy, and tasty. I loved it all!
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
My friends from Bay Area requested getting his triple chocolate cupcakes. My order was blueberry pie, it was good, cream on top is not too sweet, cake was little flaky, I like them to be more dense. It is pricey $5 for small cupcake.
google avatar

Sara W.

Yelp
Well, their cupcakes are really good! I think it's a bit pricey ($5) but they are pretty good. They were out of the one I had saw on the website that I wanted. Thankfully, at around 3pm they still had a good assortment available. The store is small and I've seen in get crowded but the line moves quickly. The employees are all fast. It's a good place to go to indulge occasionally!
google avatar

Kathy X.

Yelp
I love the classic Red Velvet cupcake from here. I also love the s'mores but they only carry it 1-2 days a week (I believe), so make sure to check their cupcake schedule if that's what you're looking for. The cupcakes are always perfectly baked. A slight crisp around the edges and super soft and moist cake with the perfect amount of frosting. Trophy has some of the best cupcakes I've ever eaten and they never disappoint when I have a sweet tooth!
google avatar

Beini P.

Yelp
I was having a cupcake craving and Trophy was so cute and inviting, I had to come in. I got a simple chocolate cupcake. It was incredibly average, the cake was pretty dry and a bit crumbly, the cream tasted a bit like shortening rather than rich butter flavor. I gave some to my friends who agreed with me. We ate about half of the cupcake together and threw the rest away. I really wanted to like this place but I won't be buying from here again.
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
This location has really reinvigorated my adoration for over the top cupcakes (rather Trophy in general) and I mean that in a good way! Yes, the cupcakes are heavy, overly sweet, so bad for you they don't even list the price per but they are also super delicious, the cake is moist and the toppings are fun. And don't forget the cupcakes just look good. Recently our last two visits to UVill has included two stops to Trophy. On our last stop, we shared a cookie dough cupcake instead of getting two cupcakes. Sharing does cut the sick-feeling from eating too much sugar but it also limits how many things you can try...so I guess you have to decide which is more important a potential tummy ache or the option to try more than 1 super good looking/enticing cupcake?
google avatar

Yelp
We're delicious! Went into the store, it was clean and was helped quickly. I had a delivery and had some issues with my online gift card but Jane was able to help me last minute.

Yelp
Love love love trophy cupcakes!!! I've always admired the detail and flavor these cupcakes held I was so excited to try out the fairly new location located in U Village! If you didn't know, trophy cupcakes in U Vill has an ice cream machine, and can create many unique sundaes My friends and I tried a variation of different sweets, and we loved it! Please stop by this location to get a sweet treat. Not to mention, the friendly service and the awesome owner, Jennifer!

William R.

Yelp
Awesome cupcakes. Cool flavors and pretty decorations. I had the dark chocolate raspberry (wow!), and my boys had the cookies and cream and lovefetti, which they loved. These were very nice and looked like someone took their time making them. We had several macrons, too, which looked fantastic and tasted great. The staff here were college students, and both were friendly and helpful and interacted with the kids quite well.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Ohhhhhhh My goodness!!! Cupcakes extravaganza I had a hard time choosing what I wanted but settled for the seasonal pumpkin and strawberry lemonade. I asked our server what were her favorite on today's choices. And she was more of a chocolate person but said the strawberry lemonade is light and not as sweet, she was right. I loved that one but I had to try the seasonal pumpkin and I was not disappointed. The price was about $3.00 a cupcake but worth it! Trophy Cupcakes also offered macarons as part of their party items but I didn't try it. I was more intrigued with the cupcakes. Will I come again most definitely. Because of the quality of the cupcakes and the amount of ingredients in the cupcake. Most of the cupcakes have a filling in the middle or chunks of the ingredients in the cupcake itself. And let me tell you they put a lot of frosting to compliment the cupcake, which I enjoy. Hope you have a chance to try this place while in Seattle.
google avatar

Tiana F.

Yelp
So many pretty cupcakes!! Making it so hard to choose lol. The Strawberry Sundae Cupcake stole my heart so it was a must. Then I orders the Salted Caramel which is one of the best sellers. Very moist cupcakes with butter cream frosting.
google avatar

Alise L.

Yelp
My family goes to trophy cupcakes for every bday celebration because my brother has celiac and is gluten free. They always have two rotating gluten free options as well as one vegan. The Uville location is a one stop shop with a bunch of fun party supplies and cards and little gifts if you need a last minute bday gift. And woman- owned!
google avatar

Yadi G.

Yelp
Was in last Saturday at 8pm. There were two kinds of cupcakes left, chocolate vegan and black and white. I got the chocolate vegan and let me tell you, it wad the most stale cupcake I ever had. I should have just grabbed one at Cupcake Royale on the Hill. This place used to be a must have when in Seattle but after this last trip, doubt I will ever waste my money there again.
google avatar

Jocelyn L.

Yelp
Found out about this place from one of our friends who used to live in Seattle for grad school about 5-6 years ago (aka during the huge cupcake craze)! Cupcakes are not really a thing anymore, but if the time is right, and I have the stomach for it, I will eat one! I used to work at a bakery, and would eat one cupcake a shift (not sure if that is building credibility or judgment). I got their red velvet cupcake, which wasn't the most daring or interesting flavor, but also not the most boring. It was a pretty standard cupcake, definitely not worth $4.25, but still decent. What I loved most was that it came in a cute little individual cupcake box! Daw! Their cupcakes weren't refrigerated though, which I didn't think of until now (where I used to work, they were refrigerated at all times) - and now thinking back, that was kinda gross lol. Service was excellent though, and the display of cupcakes was on point. I guess I'd recommend this place if you were in the area and craving a cupcake. But if you want something sweet, go to Molly Moon's on the other side of the University Village!
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
Trophy's cupcakes have always been delicious. My favorites are the vanilla vanilla and their vegan chocolate cupcakes are fabulous as well. Did you know they have soft serve ice cream as well?! The matcha Oreo cone is to die for. The cone is crispy and light. The soft serve is perfectly sweetened and not overly sweet. It's an amazing trio if you ask me! Whether you're a fan of matcha or not, the soft serve tastes great with or without it! Don't sleep on the soft serve!!

Yelp
ATMOSPHERE: Cute, colorful shop with a clean store front in U-Village, came here on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 5 minutes to get in the store. FOOD: I'm a bit disappointed considering all the good reviews. I heard great things about their Red Velvet Cupcake but wasn't able to try it since they were out. Opted for the Cookies n' Cream and Lovefetti cupcakes instead. The presentation of the cupcakes made them look delicious. However, both were quite dry on the inside, and had a stale cornbread texture. Cookies n' Cream frosting was a nice balance of creamy and crunchy with large chunks of Oreo-type cookies mixed in, which I enjoyed. Lovefetti frosting was just sweet without any real depth. SERVICE: Not much to comment on - simple, fast service. The lady behind the counter didn't smile or feel warm, but was efficient. OVERALL: There's so many good cupcake places in Seattle that I don't think I will be coming here again. Over $4 and change for dry cupcakes. Only thing enjoyable was the Cookies n' Cream frosting but it's not worth making a trip back here.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
They don't take cash. Literally don't take standard currency. I've been coming here for years. I guess I'll have to buy a $5 cupcake with good old fashioned money somewhere else from now on...
google avatar

A Plus NW Home Inspection ..

Yelp
My wife and I went to your store in Bellevue on Sunday. We picked out a dozen cupcakes and were pretty excited to try the flavors we read about online. Unfortunately the first bite was the last. As you can see from the picture someone baked hair into our cupcake. Not very appetizing! Sent from my iPhone

Yelp
It's difficult to not love a place that specializes in serving happiness! This is an unassuming spot in the middle of U village with a small storefront, a few seats inside and lots of seating outside. The only reason they don't get 5 stars in my mind was the fact that the overall selection of cupcakes available was smaller than we expected. We found plenty to be interested in, but there wasn't a vast sea of cupcakes that many spots boast. The actual cupcakes were a delight - very flavorful and moist cake with plenty of delicious frosting. It passed the "our boys only ate the frosting" test, and they finished off the cake part which carries high praise! The $4 per cupcake is steep, but expected based on the location. Worth dropping by and grabbing a fancy cupcake for your fancy afternoon!
google avatar

Elsa E.

Yelp
Best cupcake ever. I'm visiting my sister here in Seattle and went shopping. We passed the store and I swung in and bought a cupcake. I got the confetti one bc it was one of the only vanilla cake options (tons of chocolate options). The decorations were beautiful but I did pick those off. The icing was probably the best white icing I've ever had. The cake was moist and flavorful. I guess it's good I don't live in Seattle otherwise I'd be eating wayyyyy too many cupcakes!
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Can't think of any place to get better cupcakes! The macaroons are alright though! Great for celebrations holidays and birthdays! Great boxing and they have toppers and stuff for bdays! Conveniently located at the university village north of Seattle.
google avatar

Megan F.

Yelp
Trophy Cupcakes has become a birthday tradition for me! :D Every year for the past 3 years, my birthday cupcakes have exclusively been from the University Village Trophy location. They do an incredible, gorgeous job every single time! They are really the best cupcakes in Seattle. They're not too sweet, yet still have tons of frosting and fine flavor! Tip: Go to the UVille (University Village) location only. The Wallingford location sucks.
google avatar

Lena N.

Yelp
I saw someone walk around i village with this soft serve and I had to have it. Luckily I walked past trophy cupcakes. Who knew they sell soft serves now?! I was ecstatic! I didn't expect it to be so delicious too. I was so very pleased it melted pretty fast so the thing around the cone was a great idea. Will definitely be coming back for more soft served during the summer!
google avatar

Caitlin H.

Yelp
Yummy cupcakes and macarons! Super cute little store that never disappoints with their desserts.
google avatar

Marie B.

Yelp
Still prefer the Trophy location in Wallingford over this one in University Village, more selection and friendlier staff. However, I prefer Cupcake Royale ones better. Even one of my co-workers bests them in flavor, moistness, and inventiveness of combinations. Seattle is spoiled rotten when it comes to chocolates, cupcakes, doughnuts, pies, cookies, artisan ice cream and other tasty treats. It should not, though, have to cost $60 for a dozen cupcakes though!
google avatar

Inna B.

Yelp
Well hello there, my sweet little splurge. It was lovely to meet you. My specialty cupcake 'innocence' was given to a lemon strawberry one at this fine location (on their opening day, no less). It was delicious, light and sweet. Not too sweet, except for one moment that the frosting felt like a bit much... but I'm used to being a little sensitive to sweet frosting, so I kind of expected it. I think this is a wonderful place, but I don't expect to be a regular. It's a bit of a splurge on the sweet side and on the money side (at $3 each or $33 per dozen). I'm thinking I'll keep this place in mind for special occasions and for those days when it feels like a sweet little cupcake will make the day brighter.
google avatar

Lucky S.

Yelp
Cute shop and nice staff. Their cupcakes are pretty enough, but damn if the two I got weren't hard and taste like sugary blah. Granted I grabbed them after dinner so maybe they sat there all day, but if you're going to be open late and sell baked goods, you should make sure they are relatively fresh regardless of the time of day.
google avatar

Abigail A.

Yelp
You can't stop at UVillage without getting something at Trophy Cupcakes! As a quaint shop tucked in the main area of UVillage, Trophy Cupcakes delivers delicious, sweet treats for all ages. There are classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla, while they have rotating special flavors and other unique combinations, like Red Velvet, Snickerdoodle, and Apple Pie. You can buy one that is in their display, or order ahead for a special occasion. Want to get a friend, or yourself, a sweet treat for a special celebration, birthday, promotion, etc? They also sell cute cards, decorations, and fun things to add to make your tasty purchase a bit more special. I have been to this location multiple times while in college at UW, before I yelped a lot. Coming back here on a short visit, I was surprised to see that they also sell macarons! Rather than indulging in a cupcake, my mother and I bought macarons. They are a little on the sweeter side compared to other macarons I have had, but still very delicious and very fresh! Stop in and feed your craving.
google avatar

Athene D.

Yelp
WEEEEELLLLLLL! I love this place! Sometimes I come home from work and stop by Trophy and I usually always get one cupcake and three macaroons. No shame! My personal favorites are the cinnamon toast crunch macaroons, but please, by all means try try try! It's not terribly expensive (unless you make it your weekly weakness habit, hahaha) Say yes to the little one when they ask if they can have a cupcake, Because I swear it will make you JUST as happy!
google avatar

Shruti N.

Yelp
I'm surprised the reviews on here aren't rated higher because my experience with this place was great! I have a sweet tooth, and when I walked by I knew I had to go in. I ended up with the triple chocolate which was delicious. Not too rich, not too sweet, and not too heavy! Would love to come back and try another type the next time I'm in the area! Thanks to the girl behind the counter for being patient with me as I was trying to make up my mind.
google avatar

Anna Y.

Yelp
These cupcakes are over $4 each but definitely worth it if you want to treat yourself. The cake is moist, frosting not too sweet, and the ratio of cake to frosting is well done. I would definitely come back to try other flavors.
google avatar

Luan P.

Yelp
Trophy Cupcakes sure was pretty. From the cupcakes themselves to the packaging, this place really got its presentation down to a T. The cupcakes quality however, remained mediocre. I had an almond salted caramel cupcake. The cake part of this was pretty dry. Maybe I got it too close to closing but this was not what I paid for, considering how pricey these little guys were. The almond salted caramel buttercream had flavor but was a bit heavy. I found myself just enjoying the cream, not the actual cake. The store does offer a lot different variety to choose from. Even their macaroons had dusted edible gold on them, fancy that. Overall though, I'd say it's worth checking out once but not recommended for frequent visits.
