"I experienced cocktails with a side of beverage education at Tropical Distillers, an 8,000-square-foot Allapattah distillery and bar jointly owned by NFL stars Mike and Maurkice Pouncey and real estate pro Kim Rodestein. The fully automated operation includes an in-house cannery, a 30-seat indoor bar and tasting room decorated in colorful vintage wallpaper and old-school Florida tropical touches, plus a 1,500-square-foot outdoor deck with additional seating, access to local food trucks, events, tastings, tours, and a gift shop. The space specializes in J.F. Haden’s Liqueur—featuring mango, espresso, and citrus liqueurs—and offers guided tours Thursday through Sunday at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. for $25, which include a five-spirit tasting and tour pick-up locations throughout Miami. From 5 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays I sampled cocktails curated by Amanda Perez, such as the Cafecito Martini and Floridian Martini, along with an array of frozen drinks, reflecting the venue’s one-of-a-kind, entertaining yet educational vibe noted by CEO Buzzy Sklar." - Olee Fowler
