Tropical Foods (El Platanero)

Great huge Supermarket,you can even buy sugar canes and other exotic foods and drinks. The only not so cool thing are the food prices.

Dear Corporate/Whomever This Concerns, I didn't bother with Management today but it'd be the third time I use my card on different days and registers and receive cash back when I didn't ask for or click that option. Aside from the language barrier with some of the cashiers, they're hardly ever helpful. For the prices and expired goods Tropical Foods sells, at least fix your registers. And train your employees better...

To start I will say the most clean market I’ve ever been in wow this place was spotless, every shelve was stock nothing on the floor. Some nice music playing just beautiful I wanted to shop all day. Food from every country if you need something you will find it here. Even had my kid’s favorite boba milk tea I use to have to go to super 88 in Chinatown for that drink( can version really good). Something for Thé people amazing price on meat specially the price of steak, the T-bone steak was less than 6$.

Tropical foods in Roxbury is such a great stop for all foods tropical. I'm not sure how I feel about the prices of things but my satisfaction generally comes from the fact that I can buy food items and enjoy them like I never left Africa. I recommend this store for the African diaspora living in Boston

My favorite and best grocery store!!!!!!! If you need quality food, please head there. Excellent customer service also. They also have African groceries. If you love golden morn, this is the best place to get the cereal. I got my pounded yam flour from this store.

Few words, I want to go back the atmosphere, the people, was so relaxing and welcoming meeting people of other states and the convo was unavoidable and enjoyable 😀 make sure to take something to cover up after the water can cold? Don’t bring food they had lots of it, save som scarps for the 🐟 to feed for the kids who are not able to swim too far

I shop here out of necessity. Unfortunately, the store is pricier than other options nearby. I wouldn't say the quality or variety of ingredients justifies the increased price. Unfortunately, I have had less than positive interactions with the checkout clerks who seem actively upset to be there and can have attitude with customers.

This is my closest grocery store and it is wonderful! Very convenient and clean. There will also a brand new Marriott Hotel opening soon across the street from it with other stores on the main floor. My only negative here is that it does not cater to vegan or vegetarian tastes at all.
