Food is ok (but expensive) compared to other Haitian places but the owner is extremely rude. I’m a regular customer and I used to witness how rude she can be with her customers and her workers. So today it was my turn. She yelled at me only because she was packing the wrong order for me and I told her it wasn’t mine. So it was my fault and as a customer I got this nasty treatment! I was so surprised I couldn’t find a word to tell her I just picked up my food and left. This is the last time. Never again! 0 customer service! She needs to work on that. You don’t talk to customers like this period!

I started to buy food at Tropical Haitian restaurant in Spring Valley last year. The first few time it was great, but over time they started slacking. I always order fish with rice or with Fryti. One time, I felt like the fish was off, so I told the owner, she made a new one for me. The next time my food was cold, so I decided not to go mins before they close to solve that problem. On April 03,2024 the owner was not there but there was a lady who was operating for the owner. This lady was extremly polite with great manner, and let me know since the owner is not there I have to pay cash because she did not know how to use the card machine. No, problem but she end up telling me that she did not have change so she would be giving me $10 instead of $12. But when I got home and taste the food- the fish had no season except for the head, which was to fried to eat. And she forgot my fried Okra or marinad ( Which usually comes with the Fryi). The next day I called to inform the owner how the fish had no taste and I was not given okra. THE OWNER WENT OFF ON ME, CALLED ME A LIAR SEVERAL TIME. TOLD ME THAT I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO SOAK FISH ECT...TOLD ME NOT TO COME BACK ETC...I was so taken back because she had never treated me bad like this. I will NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN.

The food is good. It could be better though. The rice and beans isn’t always fresh. And they don’t give enough Tasso Cabrit when ordering a large plate. But the lady who owns the place/runs it, is nice most of the time. Expect to wait some time for your food too. And it’s best to go in with cash than using your card.

I had to walk out of this restaurant recently because I felt like my food wasn't being served with love but with an attitude and extremely rude behavior from the owner. First of all when i walked in no one said Hello or how can i help you. The people behind the counter just stared at me like I walked into the wrong establishment. This wasn't my first time here or experiencing negative vibes from the staff (I think this is why im more upset because this isn't the first time I've felt like this). As i tried to order my food and ask a few questions the owner was very pushy, cutting me off, acting as if my questions about the food were irrelevant and just over all rude. This was upsetting because I love Haitian food and thought id be enjoying a delicious meal i could eat for a few days. Instead i decided to leave because who wants food from extremly rude people. I enjoy food served with love. Ill pay and tip any amount. I do no care about the money but i refuse to give to any establishment that has horrible customer service. Just because I don't speak creole and im not of Haitian decent doesn't mean I should be mistreated either. We're all from African anyway. Yes the food is good but this place is not welcoming nor does it have good customer service. I'd rather cook at home.

Spot turns into a lounge at night on saturday. The brown skin bartender is really nice, Drink was strong and her customer service was good. Now i can't say the same for the large light skin bartender. She came and told me she couldn't give me the rest of my change because they didn't have it. She told me the next time i come to tropical or the next drink i buy my change will be applied to the difference. First of all the rest of the changewas the tip for the bartender that made my drink. They basically stole her tip. Real unprofessional. Same thing happened to my friend when she went to go get her drink. They held on to her $5 dollar change that was suppose to be for the bartender that made my drink. Don't come to this location. Owner is cheap with the liquor. Besides the slim bartenders hospitality the staff is rude.

Owner is very welcoming, food was fresh and hot! The rice and beans was awesome, will return for that. Place is small but comfortable if you plan to eat in.

Worst restaurant to buy your meal. Today's food was not done well and when I approached the owner she took pleasure in discriminate me and using awful defamation word to push me out of the restaurant instead of listening to my complain.
