The Best Bars on New Orleans’s Bourbon Street | Eater New Orleans

"Although throwing back one (or more) hand grenades will surely lead to questionable decision-making, the distinctively shaped plastic cups are ubiquitous on Bourbon Street. Tropical Isle put the drink on the map during the ill-fated 1984 World’s Fair — the hand grenade was the fair’s biggest success. While there are a number of Tropical Isles in the Quarter, if you’re going to pick one, our recommendation goes to the Bayou Club, where you can catch Zydeco and Cajun music." - Beth D’Addono

Home of the world famous Hand Grenade, New Orleans most powerful drink! Tropical Isle Bayou Club is my most favorite spot on Bourbon street! My boyfriend and I love to grab a hand grenade and find a spot to sit a while and enjoy some of the best people watching in the world! and of couse the band that plays most everyday we've visited called the Hangovers. The band is so much fun they take requests and keep us singing and laughing along. The staff here is always nice and have great suggestions on other places to visit in the city. If the famous hand grenade is too much debauchery for your ideal night, Tropical Isle has a few other fun themed mixed drink options including a shark attack, Tropical itch etc listed and a full bar to find your favorite way to imbibe.

Fun music venue on Bourbon Street. There was a local Zydeco band performing, and they were outstanding. The dance floor was always full of couples dancing.

We had a great time. The band was very good.(Dave Ferrato & friends.) Angel was a great bartender. Friendly, and good at her job. And the other customers were very friendly and easy to talk to. Great atmosphere.

This place was a lot of fun and I would love to go back. Good music and good drinks. I strongly recommend the frozen hand grenade and didn't eat. Definately stop in here. The shark attack drink has a surprise that comes with it, if you dare to find out.

I didn’t plan to rate any of the bars on Bourbon Street from my most recent trip to NOLA, but we’ve find ourselves here not once, not twice, the three times during our 4 day trip! The live music was always the best and their bushwacker drink? I’ll take 5 please!

Came here for the first time yesterday. Great bar on Bourbon. They have drink specials. Fun atmosphere. Great LIVE music and the bartenders are very engaged and entertaining when they serve their hand grenade and shark drinks. Cool spot to check out if you are in the area.

I can proudly say, the first spot I visited in NOLA, was Tropical Isle to pick up a Hand Grenade, and it did not disappoint. Great cocktail to start the trip off, but I ended up tossing the container at dinner and missed out on all the refills. Until next time~
