"After a few days in the mountains, you'll get a little tired of musty carpets and places serving mediocre chicken-fried steak. That's why Tropicali is a refreshing switch-up. This tiki-themed poke spot is decorated with palm leaf wallpaper, tiny hula dancers, and bubbling fountains—the kind of stuff that boosts winter serotonin levels. Snowboarders pile in to order solid poke bowls, fruit smoothies that taste like virgin tropical cocktails, and spicy jerk chicken that gets your blood pumping. Also, it's owned by two incredibly friendly brothers from Kauai, whom you'll hear yelling over the intercom, "Aloha Kelsey, your order just hit DA BEEEACH." - Sylvio Martins

Worth the hype on social media! The poke was so fresh and flavorful. Their new location has amazing views of the lake and a super fun shark at the entrance as you walk in. The decor is modern and hip and the restaurant feels cozy. It’s completely self-serve which is the only downside for us although not a huge deal if you know what to do. It was our first time so we were a bit lost but the employees were very nice and helpful. Honestly want to come back to Big Bear just for the food here!

This place was a mad house when we pulled up. A line of like 30 people waiting outside. We waited in line for 30 min to order and it only took about 10 min for us to get our food. Food was definitely worth the wait! Highly recommend! Worth trying if you’re visiting Big Bear and you’re not in a rush.

My daughter found this place online, and I went there on my way out of town. As others have said, the vibe, service, and energy are fun & upbeat! I got there at 11:45am, the line was long but still inside the building. It took about 30 minutes to reach the three ordering kiosks, and only about 10 minutes to get my food & drink. I ordered the Malibu (vegan) poke bowl and the Tropisical smoothie - both were tasty and refreshing. I enjoyed sitting on the big sunny patio. There's a great view of the lake. The only recommendation for these upbeat owners is to have a "no cilantro" button, and a description of the sauce options when ordering... the sauce names are not intuitive. Keep up the great work Tropicali!

The best spot in Big Bear just raised the bar to a whole new level! The guys at Tropicali have built a whole new level. The best food in the valley has the best view of the lake. Proud to say this place is part of my home town. Get over and check it out. You won’t be disappointed!!

Great delicious food. Super friendly service. Google delivered. I searched top rated restaurants, and this one is one of the best. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing. The plates looked small, and I got worried that the teenager was not going to get full, but he did, so that was a plus. The whole party wished we would have been able to go back, but we didn't make it a second time. Next time we're up there, we sure will go back. Even people we know asked if we stopped at this amazing restaurant, and when we asked Tropicali? They were like, "Yes!" We were proud to say yes, we did, and yes, we agree.

The Pele Poke bowl was surprisingly good! Line was a little long but I think it was bc of the holiday weekend…..15-20mins to order on a kiosk. I suggest adding the extra protein & rice for $4 more. Well worth trying it out very catchy funky place.

We visited during Thanksgiving weekend for lunch, and while the line was quite long, we only waited about an hour thanks to their efficient service. One of the staff members (maybe the owner’s brother?) was incredibly friendly and attentive. He frequently checked in with everyone in line, offering drinks and making the wait much more bearable. I ordered the Baja Bowl with beef since I’m pregnant and can’t have raw fish, but it ended up being way too spicy for me (I have zero tolerance for spice 😭). Just as I was debating whether to order something else, the same staff member came by to check on us and kindly offered to replace my dish with a Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. I was so grateful! 😭 It was absolutely delicious, and I finished every bite. I’ve never written a review before, but the experience here was just too good not to share. Amazing service and great food—definitely worth the wait. Highly recommend!

This is now the third time we’ve eaten at Tropicali. The first two times were amazing. The atmosphere and service is awesome and we got two poke bowls (Kraken and Kauai) and they were amazing as usual. The fish was fresh, and the toppings were crispy, and the cucumbers were good as well. The only issue I had was the Natty Bread That we ordered as well. I believe they added chicken livers along with the chicken or the texture was off on some piece of chicken. And the Caribbean spices have way too much cloves. I tried to power through it because mama always said to finish your plate, but I couldn’t do it. Maybe my palate Hey, is not refined enough for this dish, but I would Not order it again. We will be back though no question. They’ve moved from their little spot where they were before to a much larger location because of all the business they’re getting. Really solid place to get some Hawaiian poke and dishes and the employees are characters.
