The Biggest Las Vegas Restaurant and Bar Closures to Know | Eater Vegas

"I observed that the Tropicana closed after 67 years — locks on the doors and plans for the site to become a baseball stadium — and that its closure shuttered onsite outlets including Oakville Tuscan Grill, Red Lotus Asian Kitchen, the Trago Lounge, a coffee shop, Chill’m (a frozen daiquiri bar) and Robert Irvine’s Public House." - Janna Karel

We stayed in the South Tower. The room was recently renovated and very clean! The casino had a lot to offer and, since my husband and I were away for my birthday, we didn’t want to be around a lot of kids, so the distance from the boardwalk amusements and other casinos made it great for that. The adult only pool helped, too. We would definitely stay there again.

Moms took our boys away for a night away before school starts. Not much for the boys to do besides the beach and a tiny pool. (Boardwalk rides were 'lame' and only like 3 rides, they are 17.) Everything just seemed run down in the rooms. Or overused. The shower took 10 minutes to get hot water and had barely any pressure at night. The next morning, boiling hot and beyond powerful pressure. Our room was immediately to the right of elevators. There was a constant banging noise coming from somewhere nearby. Check out was a NIGHTMARE - everyone leaving the hotel for the same 11am check out. Getting into an elevator was completely impossible - friends had to walk 47 flights down because after waiting almost an hour they still couldn't get into an elevator as they were all filled. Same with the self parking garage. HUGE line to just get in the elevator. We had 3 rooms under one reservation and only got two express check out emails so still had to go downstairs to check out - and there were CONSTANT extra fees, resort fee, credit card fee, this fee that fee. Would not go back here again, ever. Positives: Food was pretty decent, everything under one roof.

First time in Atlantic City. Happen to choose Tropicana. The hotel check in was long. The room was so so. Definitely dated. Floor was visibly dirty. Definitely not recommending walking barefoot. Toiled barely flushed and the shower was hard to adjust with water temperature. The room was near elevators so that's all we heard. Also the elevators close very quickly... Several times we have seen people getting smacked by the door walking in/out. The restaurants/shops looked nice and it have a nice feeling. The casino part also looked nice and lively, but I don't think I'd consider staying here again.

Tropicana is a great casino still thriving in Atlantic City. No it’s not the “newest” “nicest” hotel however it’s got a lot of stuff to do within the resort and located right on the boardwalk for a great price. I also walked around every casino during my week trip in the height of tourist season and Tropicana by far had the most people inside the casino gambling. I don’t even know how some of the other casinos are still alive because nothing was quite like Tropicana. My room was updated and clean. However if you don’t like cigarette smoke, don’t come here. Although other casinos allow smoking I didn’t smell it much inside them, which could just be from a general lack of people at other casinos but just know smoking is allowed and very prevalent. I had a non smoking room and didn’t smell any smoke in my room. I also didn’t smell any weed to my surprise anywhere in the hotel. My only complaint and I don’t know how this hasn’t been addressed yet is the lack of signage helping people find their towers. It’s probably the most confusing resort because of its size and lack of signage I have ever been too. Once I figured it out it was fine but it was extremely difficult to find North tower and you don’t see one sign for a half mile into the resort for it if you check in by Havana. You also need more signs pointing to elevators on room floors. Either way I’ll be back again soon!

This is our first time in Atlantic City, and we are pleasantly surprised. I was a little apprehensive because of some of the reviews I read, but our room in the North Tower is very nice and clean. The property is huge. There is so much to do and everything is nice. Do not be concerned about staying here. It is awesome!

Casino was sweet & so was the things inside the resort. Stayed in the west tower, (4904). Paid 475$ for one night, 30$ for early check in an 20$ late check out. Had no problems checking in that was fast an efficient. When we got up to the room we wanted to take a nap before a wedding and there was a constant banging, we thought maybe just the pipes. Eventually decided to turn off the ac maybe that was the noise, nope. Called the front desk they sent maintenance, guy said it was the ac he listened for a minute & said it was the service elevator, and it should stop shortly because house keeping was about to leave for the day. Nope that was not the case. Loud constant banging the entire stay. We couldn’t switch rooms due the resort being sold out. Other than that the room just needs some updating (wallpaper literally falling off the walls).

Room was nice. Traffic in the parking lot was out of control. Lines for every elevator bank on the premises. I would guess 30% of elevators/escalators in the place are fully functional. Really dampened the overall experience. Invest in some new elevators it will go a long way here...

Exceeded expectations! Clean, spacious room. Staff was friendly and helpful. We shared an elevator ride with a young employee (maintenance?) and he asked how our stay was and wished us a nice day - good work management to create this type of culture. Large number of food and dining options on the property. Nightlife was super fun:) Wonderful and enjoyable stay - keep up the good work Tropicana AC! We'll be back!
