On the Grid : Tropicana

"Tropicana is a tiny little place on historic, Southwest Boulevard. They sell Michoacan style ice cream and paletas made daily onsite. It's so much fun to see rows and rows of bright colored frozen pops. It's 98% impossible to decide between the exotic fruits and chocolaty ones, so just get a few. They now sell fruit cocktails, smoothies, churros and Mexican style lunch and dinner foods, too. This place is a summer staple on the Boulevard, but really, there's no reason not to go year round, ice cream is never not delicious!" - Rachel Sleeter

Friendly staff, has both a family pool and adults only pool. Meals have been priced accordingly for a hotel casino, but lots of options. Beachfront access was easy. Room was very spacious and updated

Had a great time watching the air show from the rooftop pool. I've been going to this hotel for a long time. It never disappoints. There's always something to do inside the hotel. The quarter is a wonderful place to shop and eat.

Overall would recommend.. Spend the money to upgrade 😃 Ocean view King Deluxe Suite Pros: Multiple pool access and roof space. And adult only pool area. Plenty of room for guests. Lively spaces and fantastic 24 hour marketplace. Highly recommend for small families or couples. Slightly away from the busier boardwalk areas. Food areas are greaat. Cons: Elevators are a challenge. Expect lines, confusion, and slight chaos. Outdated older building..pools are small. Must walk through a cloud of smoke in the casino to get to anywhere

The venue itself is quite entertaining – there's a good variety of music, a fun atmosphere, and overall it seems like a great place to spend the night. However, the security staff truly ruins the experience. They tend to get aggressive, especially when dealing with problematic guests, and unfortunately, they don't seem to know where to draw the line. Once there's an incident, they start treating everyone with the same hostility. Even worse, there’s a noticeable attitude shift if you’re a Spanish-speaking tourist – their behavior borders on racism. It's incredibly disappointing and leaves a bad taste after what could have been a fun night out. Another big downside: everything shuts down very early. By 11 or 12 AM, the whole place is practically closed and they won’t let anyone else in, even if things are still calm inside. It kills the vibe, especially for tourists used to nightlife going a bit later. Overall, it could be a fantastic spot, but the security and early closure policy really hold it back.

We had a pleasant stay. Room and some other areas are in need of an upgrade and at least one ladies room reeked of mildew. They only give you two towel sets and forget about ever seeing a maid for your entire stay. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and the view was rather nice except for the super bright lights outside our window at night. Casino waitress was a surley b.

Our stay was comfortable. This was my second stay at this hotel. The best part is its location which is right next to the beach and broad walk. Some part of the room was not wiped or cleaned. I can see the dust. The food we had was also good which is sometimes hard at a casino hotel. The self parking was easy and convenient. We got $5 voucher too.

if I could give it a 0 Star, I would. NASTY!!!!! The manager is none concerned about this Dumb. This was the dirty toilet when we walked in. It looks like someone tried to break in. I don't know what was snatched from behind the toilet seat. The manager said, "Well, these are our cheapest rooms. Never stay in the West Tower. When you come out, it looks like the homeless shelter. People look so worn down. Then we got the nasty ice machine room. We are out of here. 😀
