I’m a baseball fanatic and I’m going to every stadium. This journey was a little disappointing but had some good points. The game itself was exciting but the stadium is old and showing its signs of needing to be replaced. It’s very outdated, instead of walking around a stadium I felt like I was in a hallway of a school or something. The vending area had the best feature and worst feature both, best feature is you get your souvenir cup and fill it yourself, refills and everything, that is super great. The worst feature is the ordering process. No humans just little kiosk pads, you get the ticket out of it after you order with your number but then you wait in another line to hand your ticket in to a person then wait even longer for your stuff. It’s horrible, people waiting on food block the kiosk pad so people can’t order and it’s simply a mess, if I returned I would eat before and get nothing except walk around stuff because of the lines. Keep in mind there is not many fans at the games so I couldn’t imagine a sold out game or large crowd the place would be a mess. Anyway still great experience and the stingray tank in centerfield is a must, hopefully 2028 brings a new stadium.

** They DO NOT have a box office. You must purchase tickets via the mlb app or other 3rd party ticket agent ** Had to see this place before it’s imploded. Thank you staff at Tropicana Field. Had an awesome time! Yes the ballpark is dated but it has so much charm and a very interesting history. Every employee we encountered was super friendly and helpful. Food and beverage prices on par with other events. Even the local police were very polite and helped move traffic the best I’ve ever seen. A wonderful night at the ballpark from start to finish.

We’ve been to the field a few times for games. It’s always clean and well organized. The team throws out at least 200+ baseballs to the kids in the stand every single game. The a/c is kicking and the lights in the dome are fun to watch. 10/10 will be going to more games.

COSMOPOLITAN

Google
I was impressed by the beautifully maintained dome stadium. The air conditioning was working well, so I was able to watch the baseball game at my leisure. If you are sensitive to the cold, I recommend bringing long sleeves.

Google
I came for a Rays game. I had a blast. I think this is a super unique stadium. I thought it was really cool we got to touch a sting ray / see them swimming from our seats and there are SO many places to eat / drink at with such diverse options! The gyro was so good!

Willie Ruiz

Google
Been to all of them and this one is def on the bottom of the list. But not in every aspect. There are many unique things about the park that i wish they keep around if they get a new field. It’s smaller and defiantly makes you feel like you are right near the field. The ray area in center field was def one of those cool unique things. Foods had a local flair. There were some parts of the ballpark that definitely didn’t make sense like the arcade section. As far as sitting watching the game, you def get a great experience and the majority of the time, you get to see good baseball.

For the age, this stadium is in great shape. Sad to hear they're replacing it soon. Only thing I noticed it needed were cup holders in the stands. Plenty of food/drink options during baseball games. Plenty of bathrooms. Sound system great. Easy in and out of parking lot to highways. Wish the event staff would keep folks from stopping in the walkways to chat to other fans, but that's because our seats were front row of walkways and we couldn't see multiple times due to friendly chatter.

Google
The field is really nice. They just replaced the turf. The stadium is awesome too. It's a shame they want to replace it because it is very well cared for. Staff is friendly but word of advice, do not bring any backpack or bags at all to the security point. I misunderstood the bag rule because I thought it meant they could not be over a certain size so I brought a very small backpack for my kids things. This was not ok. I guess a reusable grocery sack is OK though. The stadium had a lot of restaurants and bars, but be prepared to spend $8 on a 20oz smart water and $15-18 for a beer. Very expensive. Overall we enjoyed the game and our seats were great behind the first base dugout.

Yelp
I will miss this place. I hope it will reopen and allow fans to visit while the new stadium is being built. Here are some photos for fans who want to see what it looks like now. Looks weird without the tarp on. Close to a really hip area of St Pete. A lot of bars and restaurants nearby. This is a fun area to be around.

Yelp
Took the bus free to the game thirty minutes ! 2 Seats $100 each 2 Hotdogs $15 each 2 Water $3.50

Yelp
The stadium, food, experiences, and seats are not as terrible as some might suggest. Sure, this isn't a state-of-the-art 2024 stadium and it does feel a bit older, but there's a lot of character and fun to be had here. While visiting Florida, we decided to check out the stadium before its revamp in 2028. We had a great time exploring the concourse and checking out all the fun and interesting food options. I highly recommend the braised short rib grilled cheese--it's made right in front of you and is an excellent choice. The stadium offers a vast array of food and drink options, and plenty of places to stand and socialize, making for a fun ballpark experience. The roof might not be the most attractive feature, but it adds a unique character that many other stadiums lack. Parking and getting in and out of the stadium is relatively easy. If you're a baseball fan, you should definitely check out this stadium, especially before the Rays leave in 2028.

Yelp
I just watched my first Tampa Bay Rays game the other day - they were playing my team the Chicago White Sox. My White Sox won (woo hoo!), and my experience in "The Trop" aka Tropicana Field was great. There is a ton of parking available, and compared to some stadiums it's more reasonably priced - I paid $20 which is still a lot but it's better than some other stadiums. Once inside the stadium, there are a ton of gift shops full or Rays merchandise and a variety of food and drink options. The stadium itself is inside a dome like structure, so you stay out of the Tampa heat, but it's a bit chilly inside - this was pretty unique to me as I'm very used to outdoor stadiums. Overall, a cool place to catch a baseball game, usually tickets are pretty cheap too.

Carly M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our 1st Ray's baseball game at Tropicana Field. I loved all the different price points as far as tickets go. They even had $10 bench seats. We got parking for $15 through Spot hero. It was a pretty short walk to the entrance. I was SO grateful for the gluten free options located at RF Street section 148. Everything there is gluten free! Is was cool seeing the live Ray in the Ray experience. Lots and lots of food options. Super fun night! One note there are a lot of steps to get to the bathroom and other places. It seemed a little excess. Was ok for us but could be tough for others.

Alyssa Marie H.

Yelp
My 1st Tampa Bay Rays game, and we won!! With a T-Pain concert afterwards to boot! Nice use of lighting and sound. My friend Leah loved the mascot Raymond, highlight of her night. Mine was attempting to pet the rays in the pool on the second level. Fun for either the whole family or a group of rowdy friends. The Tampa Bay Rays plan to get a new stadium in 2028. So check out Tropicana Field, the last built of it'd kind!

Ryan C.

Yelp
This place is a dump and I think we all know it. The Rays need a new home ASAP. The staff is very friendly but pricing for concessions is ridiculous. 2 burgers, 1 hot dog, and 3 bottles of soda was $70+. A cocktail was $28. Come on guys, this is why your stadium is so empty. Why bother

Brittney B.

Yelp
My husband and I recently attended my first MLB game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Seattle Mariners. We had a GREAT time! Tropicana park had a great variety of food and drinks, not to mention classic baseball staple like Cracker Jacks and peanuts! So, of course we got a bag of Cracker Jacks. We also got a footlong hot dog. The hot dog was good, but I think I would have preferred two regular sized hot dogs because they would have been easier to eat. We also got a buffalo chicken combo with fries. The buffalo tenders had just the right amount of spice and they came with two cups of ranch dressing! The stadium had a large scoreboard and another large screen to view replays and players statistics. It was also really nice that the stadium has a cover over it, because the 80-90 degree weather would have been intolerable for hours. There were several restrooms around the stadium and they were well stocked and clean. Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A+++!

Yelp
Attending the Rays versus Boston Red Sox game tonight. This is our first time at Tropicana Field. With temperature in high 90's. it is a great night to watch a game inside an air-conditioned stadium. You don't have to worry about the heat or rain here! Pro: Super friendly staff. Every one we encountered is happy and helpful. You got your money worth just walking through these doors. Another cool item, you can pet stingrays at the tank. This is a popular activity. Con: Rays is not the most popular baseball team and can not draw a crowd. Red Sox and Yankee fans helped fill the seats on some night. Trop is known as Tampa Bay Rays but it is located in St Petersburgh. While the Trop is within an hour drive, most people avoid traveling over the bridge to St. Pete! The empty seats add to the depressing ambiance. The PA system is so loud and it can be deafening especially if Rays scores a home run! "GET LOUD!' or 'MAKE SOME NOISE!' can do irreversible damage to your ear drums. The food is stadium food and it is not cheap. However, there are many excellent nearby restaurants and bars you can eat and drink before and after the game! Game: Rene Pinto hit a two-run homer off Kutter Crawford during three run second as the Rays took a 3-0 lead. Enmanuel Valdez cut the Red Sox deficit to 3-2 on a two-run homer on third inning. The Rays scored two run in the fourth and went ahead with 5-2 in the fourth. At the top of 7th, Red Sox scored two runs to even the score 5-5. Luis Urias hit an RBI single in the 11th inning to give Boston a 6-5 lead. Brandon Lowe hit a 3-run homer at the bottom of 11th inning and the Rays beats Red Sox 8-6!

Glenn M.

Yelp
Love the Rays! The stadium is old but we'll maintained with great sight lines. Concessions have good food and the unlimited soft drink cups are a value! Go Ray's

Robert C.

Yelp
Little did I know three short months ago that I may have been one of the very last to pen a review of Tropicana Field. To the city of St. Petersburg, here's hoping for a fast and safe recovery from the double-whammy of Helene and Milton. As for the stadium, I don't know, maybe games can be played there without the roof? It'll surely be hot and humid wherever the Rays call home until the new stadium is built.

Jeanne D.

Yelp
My husband has now become an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and we have now attended two home games at his request. Purchased tickets online, together with prepaid parking near the stadium, and have found getting into the stadium is fairly easy. Because I need a handicapped parking spot, we usually come early. The best lot for handicap parking is Lot 1, but we also used Lot 7, and it was conveniently located at Gate 1. We found just by asking for a handicap spot and showing my placard was enough to gain entrance. The stadium is a very cool 71 degrees - great on hot August days, and has lots of convenient concession stands. My only complaint is the price of the food - bring your credit cards because it's cashless. We walked around and saw the mantas in their tank swimming around. Because the Rays scored 12 runs in one inning against the Colorado Rockies, it was an exciting blowout of the game. I feel there's no bad seat viewing the field, great line of sight from all locations. If you need anything, there's lots of hosts to answer questions and give assistance. There are elevators with actual operators at the controls to help you navigate the area. Restrooms are plentiful and clean for the most part. The stadium may have its faults but I enjoyed our visits and the experience of a live baseball game. Hope to attend to support our team for many years to come - hopefully after the team wins the World Series in 2023!

Jerry S.

Yelp
It's the trop! What can I say. Not bad not great. No rain outs or sunburns. Decent seats. Terrible food. Rays baseball - that's the reason to be here. However new safety netting all the way up to the bullpens makes paying big money for infield level seats not worth it since you are having to watch through netting which reduces the resolution of the view. Makes 200 level and low level outfield the best values and views. Scoreboard needs to be raised a few feet so you can read the bottom when the walkway is full.u

Ralphus S.

Yelp
The Enchant show is a little pricey, but it's the Holiday Season, and it's pretty cool with the lights and huge tree on the covered baseball field. there is also ice skating and shops set up. and it's indoors so you don't have to worry about getting snowed on !

Kyle M.

Yelp
Do not buy of stub hub. They gave me tickets but sold me tickets for parking also. They parking did not line up with the event. I called they refused to do anything. We had to pay for parking again at the event because stub hub gave us parking for a different time then the event and they do not release the tickets to you until 1 hour before the game. So you have 0 idea they are not going to cover the event until you get there. Never use stub hub they refused refund credit everything even though they sold invalid parking. i asked to speak to supervisors nothing. DO NOT USE STUB HUB

Rachel G.

Yelp
The stadium exceeded my expectations. Parking was easy, security was nice, and the workers there are happy to be there and are helpful if you're lost! Came here to watch the Rays v Yankees game and it was so fun. The stingray encounter (touch pool) was neat and free! Prices are still through the roof but that's how it is. For it to be an indoor stadium -- the air circulation is good and we never felt overheated unless we were jumping, cheering for the Rays. Great stadium.

Jen C.

Yelp
The scorching weather we've been happy made me glad for the nice air conditioned Trop. Makes summer baseball in Florida comfortable. There have been lots of upgrades to the concourse which is bright, clean, and has multiple food options ranging from stadium classics fl branch's local eateries. All ordered via kiosk now. Seats are pretty cramped, but it was refreshing to see a decent crowd. Upper deck was still closed but open levels were more full than I've seen at prior games over the years.

Marquese C.

Yelp
Love that the field is indoors . Parking at most stadiums are expensive but even tho it's a bit of a walk , u can still find SOME ways to get around it . Easy entrance & nice field

Greg E.

Yelp
It had been quite some time since I last attended a game here. My experience then was not nearly as pleasant as this last visit. There were many changes that brightened up the ballpark and the concourse. There are many new and interesting concessions as well. However, the seats still feel extremely cramped.

Beth E.

Yelp
Has the stadium changed or did I just get old and now enjoy watching a game in an air conditioned building? LOL. I haven't been here for over 7 years and attended a game today and went to write a review and found my old one. What a difference 7 years makes. I totally enjoyed my experience here today, with the exception of the seats being so close and cramped. The food choices are good, the atmosphere was inviting and it was totally enjoyable watching a game under the dome.

Ricardo R.

Yelp
Only reason it's getting a 4 star is due to the parking prices and employee. Went to the park for a Tuesdays game and had bought the tickets online. As I arrived I had forgotten where my wallet was so I asked if it was ok to pull over so I could put the money on my Apple play to where the older lady replied no you have to leave the parking or ama have to call someone which was rude. I went to the front to pull out to the side and the manager let me trough making my experience wayyyy better. Once inside everything went well food was good and game was amazin. Everyone inside had a great attitude.

Kevin K.

Yelp
We were there for WWE's Royal Rumble '24. The venue is bigger than I expected and there wasn't a bad seat in the stadium. The variety of food and beverages available was amazing!

Joel H.

Yelp
During the 20 years that I lived in Tampa, Tropicana field definitely improved. Still, it just isn't that great of a stadium. Let's start with the "perks" of this stadium. It is indoors. This is a must for baseball watching in Florida. The Hall of Fame was cool while it lasted. They've done a better job of getting local businesses into the park. The sting ray petting zone is a cool bit of local flair. It is easy to get tickets to see most teams. I witnessed my first Championship Game at the Trop because even for a series as big as that, it didn't sell out. Tickets are reasonably priced. So what's bad? It's hard to see from certain seats because the cat walk across the ceiling blocks views. This isn't unique to the Trop as both Wrigley and Fenway have obscured view areas as well. Most other teams have recognized that blocked views aren't a good thing and have designed stadiums to fix this. The Trop doesn't have the legacy of Fenway and Wrigley attached to it, so it needs an update to allow people to see from wherever they are seated. The ball can get lost in the ceiling as well. Not sure if this is unique to the Trop or if it happens in other domes as well (I've not been to another dome that was shut when I visited). I've never had a problem losing the ball in other stadiums. Some areas of the Trop are tight fits. Especially on nights when the crowd grows, this can cause issues. Overall, the Trop is fine to see a game because tickets are easy to get and relatively affordable. Just know that there will be some issues with sight lines depending on where you are seated.

Breanna H.

Yelp
This stadium looks like a dump on the outside but I have to say, for being an indoor stadium, they did things really well! Overall, my friend and I had a great time here. The employees and servers are so nice and friendly and there are plenty of places to get alcohol around the park which we really liked. We started walking up to the Budweiser Porch which is a very cool place to grab a drink, watch the game, and look at the stingrays in the little aquarium below! Such a cute touch. After drinks, we went to one of the levels and into a porch area where we were able to get beer and free popcorn. Then we went to our seats in the 300s. Those were a little tough and confusing to get to, but the fact that we could still get a great view was really nice! The Rays ended up losing but we still had a blast! Parking wasn't difficult and it was easy to get in and out of the stadium.

Crystal O.

Yelp
I have been down to the Trop twice in the last several months and seriously- security is where I am driven nuts. I simply do not understand the concept of a bag check and then you pass through the metal detector with your bag over and over and over again as they continuously recheck your bag and send you through again. What is this insanity? I had buttons, pins attached inside my bag from a convention I went to- didn't think anything about it- but on the 4th pass through the metal detector the security detached my pins and pulled them out of my bag. This was after removing keys, wallet, pocket change.... like seriously. I was there in December for an event and my grandson's diaper bag was lined with metal to open up as a diaper changing station on the go- I didn't event think of it and I went through security (not even kidding) 11 TIMES. I took EVERYTHING out of the bag before we realized the bag itself had metal- just slap me now. I was so aggravated I wanted to scream. Held up the family 20 minutes, as others in line were trying to go around my attempts to get through security. This time wasn't as bad- but still. I was at the grocery store last night and wondering what was stabbing me- my pins! I had never gone back and reattached them and they were stabbing me through my purse, eye roll. Besides security- we got the $10 seats up on the 300 deck- score right? WRONG. There are no escalators open to go up. John is handicap and I didn't want him walking up the ramp- but the line for the elevator was so long and sooooooo slow (we stood there for 20 minutes before giving up- only one party had entered the elevator in the time we waited). So- this place is not handicap friendly at all. Then we get to our seats- which are bleacher seats and we are literally smooshed out of our section. The family at the other end of the row was taking up extra seats, the old guys between our family and the other family were spreading out because of it and our four seats were really two seats. So I took my grandson and walked around during the game because we simply could not comfortably sit there. My daughter eventually joined me because of the same reason. Funny- because the stadium in their infinite wisdom blocked off actual seats on the 300 deck (not bleacher seating). I talked to an attendant who told me our section was sold out, but if the seats around us didn't fill in we could shift. No other help with our situation. Gee thanks. I actually spoke to 3 different attendants and that was pretty much the gist- you bought the cheap seats, suck it up. So- word to the wise, IF you buy "party deck" $10 seats, buy an extra one or two just to make sure you have room- because people are not considerate at all- shocker.

Cristina B.

Yelp
Good times! My first Tampa Bay Rays Game! Had a great time! I had no idea, until I arrived there that the field is covered and air conditioned! Lol like a total (CA transplant in FL) fool I wore a baseball cap and sunglasses oh and put sunblock on! Haha! Lots of food options, particularly in the 3rd base food hall, they have the typical baseball game options; hot dogs, nachos, but here they also have a Cuban sandwich food cart, a wine bar, kettle corn cart, bird & batter (chicken strips and fries) as well as burgers and corn dogs! Parking situation is "standard" $20 or "Preferred" $40. "Standard" is the same distance/walk so save $20 and park "standard"

Mina O.

Yelp
Unfortunately this stadium just doesn't cut it. Once you've been to Truist Park it's hard to accept anything less. The best part of my visit was witnessing the Braves win. This stadium needs some serious updating and is pretty small. It's a tight squeeze and no cup holders. The food is overpriced and the stadium is fully covered so no fireworks. There were kiosk to order food, but no hand sanitizer in sight. I ordered a hand rolled pretzel hot dog, but the counter was inaccurate so they cancelled my order because they ran out of them. Great experience with family and friends even with the flaws.

Karen C.

Yelp
I love this place. This is the way to see baseball! No worries of rain and heat. Great food choices and promotions! Free reversible bucket hat tonight.

Patrick R.

Yelp
Love to visit baseball games and stadiums. Tropicana is another one I can cross off my list of stadiums visited. Parking is $10 when you park just a block away at the shopping plaza. It is a short walk to the stadium, and from the outside it looks more like an indoors aquarium, or a sports arena than a baseball field. The inside looks a bit outdated, expected something more modern and trendy for Florida. We were able to walk around the stadium making our way to the top. We started at the 100 seats, then the 200 seats, and then to the 300 seats. That's when it got confusing, for some reason the escalators were blocked off, later I found out that one section was closed and not in use. There is only one tiny elevator (I think), and we decided to take the ramp to the next level, doors where however closed when we arrived. So we had to go back and take another ramp up, which allowed us to walk by the sky boxes and peak inside a couple of them. We finally arrived and took our seats, I think. Our seats where 15&14 at 353 with the letters WCH, I had no clue where this was, but wherever we sat down, nobody claimed their seats. The view is alright, but you are not able to see the end of the outfield due to the railing. Also the sound is horrible in this part of the stadium it echos, and you have no idea what they say. Overall it was an alright experience, not one of the best stadiums I've been to, but it was a pretty good game... Siri was the MVP in my opinion the way he stole the bases. Now it's time to look for my next stadium before season ends. PS. Built a new stadium please!

William S.

Yelp
Only a venue locals can love. Awful sound system and big screens. But, the lighting was fine. A/C was the sole redeeming value. $20 parking if paid on the day of.

Gerald H.

Yelp
We ubered here so I can't speak to the parking at the stadium. The park reminded me of a hockey arena or a farm system park. Not that this would be a bad thing. I loved how good options were in the walkway as well as in a larger area with several options Park was cool, pirates lost and my seats were great. Also the park was clean and the staff was friendly - even though getting in during a downpour they could have been way more accompanying and accommodating to us standing in the pouring down rain,

Courtney C.

Yelp
Love love love this field ! I've been to baseball games but I'm so glad this one was inside a dome ! The field looks so good !

Deanna P.

Yelp
Visited here for a Rays vs Blue Jays game in August 2022, and were pleasantly surprised! We read a lot of mixed reviews about this field, but we enjoyed watching a game in cool 70ish degrees when it was 100 degrees outside. The tank of manta rays inside is pretty awesome - found on the intermediate level. It's a must visit. We parked in Lot 6 ($20), about 4-5 rows down and were inside the field in a 2-3 minute walk. We attended a daytime game, so we didn't encounter traffic issues in the dark that we saw some people report. The staff working inside were super friendly, and the space was very clean and well kept. There is a nice variety of vendors with all of the ballpark food you'd expect, and some local food vendors, with high prices that you'd also expect. We loved going to a game here and would certainly return! Don't let the negativity about "the Trop" prevent you from visiting!

Tommy S.

Yelp
Told a group to move out of our seats (family of an umpire) and then when we moved to their seats, we were greeted by 9 police officers telling me to move and that I couldn't go back down to our seats....... I left a 7 year old and 9 year old in the seats we had left. Such a nightmare! Totally ruined the game for all 6 of us.

Jim V.

Yelp
Phone support (Eric) able to advise and answer all questions. Especially for bringing elderly WWII Vet. JOSH handled wheelchair support and checked in with us at 8th inning then was right at top of section when game ended. So many fans were helpful and considerate we were impressed with the community. The done is old but quite a relaxing tome to enjoy both teams put firth great effort with sone real nail biting innings. Many thanks we will not forget this celebration fir years to come.

Doug H.

Yelp
Had a fantastic day at the Rays/Rockies game in a very comfortable 72 degrees inside this Tropicana ballpark! Our day was even made better by Marco ( One of the fan ambassadors in our section! ) He was so friendly and helpful, took photos of me and my wife in the ballpark, brought us a program and just made us feel extremely welcome to our first Rays game!

Melvin M.

Yelp
The Trop isn't a bad stadium at all, it is just so MISMANAGED that it makes for a miserable experience. If they build a new stadium and allow the same people to run it then it will be just as bad. First there is crowd control. The Trop is TERRIBLE at crowd control, the way that they have food vendors set up and there are no lines, it's just a gaggle mentality. Second is the restrooms (also crowd control). There are two entrances to every restroom, one on the right and one on the left. In America we "keep right" so it makes sense that the right door is the entrance and the left door is the exit, yet they just allow people to go into whatever they want, if there is a line at the right door peole just go in the left and cut the line, it would be simple to put one way barricades in and out so people would be guided. Third is the food service - The majority of the people operating the food service are inept at best, they bumble around like they are lost and take forever to get anything, even when it's right in front of them. Fourth is the food - I don't understand why ANY restaurant would have a presence at the Trop, the food is basically terrible, I can guarantee that I will NEVER go to Melted, or Pacific Fresh, or any of the other places that are represented at the Trop that have outside restaurants. There are PLENTY of options to fix these things, and more of their problems, they are just not interested in making ANYTHING enjoyable. Just give them $17 for a soda or 10 for a hot dog and sit down...

Yelp
Attended a game while visiting our son and in celebration of my husband's birthday. Parking can be an absolute nightmare, but it certainly pays much to pre-pay for a parking spot at the stadium. But, once we got in line to enter the stadium, it was pretty smooth; lots of walking, of course. Very easy to find assigned seats. Stadium food was so-so; I got "plain" nachos, and the cheese was terrible!!! Yuck - never again! My husband had a giant order of loaded $27 nachos, which he enjoyed; he also had a pretzel. My son and his girlfriend had wings; my daughter had a hot dog (surprise, surprise). :o) We really enjoyed the game, though the Rays lost. We had no problem at all with the folks sitting near/around us, so we were able to have a good time. Being seated inside certainly made a difference; kudos to the Rays organization for taking this Florida weather into account and ensuring patrons are comfortable! :o)

Yelp
Hmm. I don't know about this one. And I sort of mean that in a loving way. Tropicana Field might be that place you just naturally love like a family member does, you know? But to an outsider coming in, you're looking at it kind of left. Being that I am new to the area, I'm sort of in the latter. Overall, yes, the field is perfectly fine. It's a perfectly fine place to watch a baseball game. The time I was there I had a good time. For me the baseball game itself might be a secondary attraction for me at a game. Admittedly, I'm there for the beer, food and maybe a t shirt or too. I will say I was really, really surprised at all of the food options. Naturally you got your hot dogs, pretzels and popcorn (you have to get your popcorn in a plastic baseball helmet). But listen, you can also get a short rib grilled cheese sandwich, Cuban sandwich, eat at one of my favorite local joints- Pacific Counter, and more. The true highlight was the ice cream. What is in that stuff? It's delicious. Like what you always wanted from a Dairy Queen visit as a kid. And of course I got it in a mini helmet. The field itself was in good condition. The signage and billboards looked slightly dated. I will say the seats were alright for someone who is 6'6- which actually I was afraid would be my biggest worry, but I fit pretty well and had a great view of the game. Yes, the interior needs an overhaul; like maybe a new paint job to cover up that dark blue paint on the cement. Just gives off an old stadium vibe of the 70s/80s. And for Florida being so sunny and bright, the inside doesn't really match up.

Yelp
The local fans may want a new park but this one is still pretty nice. It's clean. It has plenty of beer locations around the park. Yes it is a dome and it stays cool and dry all summer! Parking is plentiful but you gotta pay.

Yelp
Love our Rays games! The fact that's it's an indoor stadium imo makes it a better experience. No chance of it getting rained out and it's not unbearably hot The stingray touch tank is fun for the kiddos. Food was good too, can't complain. They have a lot of restaurants inside, so many to choose from. I just got a plain old Nathan's Hot dog , pretzel and a bottled water. I get it it's not the flashiest and disappoints people. Honestly I'm there to watch the game , idc that it's old , still a good time

Yelp
This stadium gets a bad rap for being one of the most aesthetically unappealing in Major League Baseball, but I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, it's not winning any design awards, but it's beauty is in its uniqueness. The slanted roof, that weird catwalk, stingray petting pool, it's truly one of a kind. Every single staff member we encountered was very friendly. Plenty of food and beer options, especially in the club level, where we sat. Overall we had a pleasant experience.

Yelp
We went here for a Rays Game and had such a GREAT time!! First of all, being inside an air conditioned dome for a baseball game was BEYOND enjoyable! Being protected from the heat and UV rays was awesome. The stadium itself was also such a cool experience. Our favorite part was probably the live stingray tank. It was really cool to see the stingrays and I bet children love seeing them even more than we did as adults. There was also a fantastic variety of food and drinks to choose from. Something for everyone for sure. The seating was also great. We sat in cheaper/nosebleed seats, but it was still great! Highly recommend for a great, family-friendly outing!

Yelp
My thoughts on Tropicana Field have really changed lately. I used to be less than impressed and while I still think it is one of the less exciting baseball stadiums I have been to, it's making moves and coming up in the world. Some unavoidable issues might be exiting the parking lot at the end of the night - WHOOF. I don't even think parking here is worth it based on that alone (not to mention it can be more expensive to park than to even purchase tickets to a Ray's Game (insert upside-down smiley emoji here).) And it's a pretty noisy stadium, somehow all the sounds stay really trapped and echo-y. And finally, there are no jumbo screens for replays, stats or fun entertainment. I love the touch tank for the stingrays totally cool, totally unique, and totally on-brand. I also really like how many local businesses are featured inside! Long gone are the days of pretzels, popcorn, and hot dogs, we can get things like Pacific Counter and Beans & Barlour, and if you don't think that's totally cool...then you're totally not. There are many restrooms and they are kept clean. The seats are typical. The lighting is typical. It's kind of everything you expect. I am not mad or disappointed but out of all the reasons to rave about St. Pete, I don't think "The Trop" is one of them yet.

Yelp
The best perk of this field is that it's indoors, especially with the FL heat. The staff I encountered were all very nice and friendly since it was our first time visiting. Seats were okay and I found there to be lots of gnats flying around my legs. They also had a very good selection of food.

Yelp
I've been to about 20 MLB parks, and the "Trop" was trash! Here is what I liked and didn't like about the stadium. Liked - Parking about 2 blocks away for $6.00 at a middle school. - Ice cream helmet sundae. - Decent food court with lots of options. Didn't Like - Everything else! - Tickets were close to $25.00 and that is for a sloped, metal bleacher up in the boonies behind the foul pole in left field. They close off the whole 3rd deck, and block it off and have a "guard" watching it so you cant even walk around and explore the full stadium. - The whole setup. Lots of concrete, and no view to the field as you are walking around the stadium. - Ushers. I saw plenty of people grab a seat in one of the fold up chairs for people with wheel chair access. Nobody said anything. My ass hurt and my feet were tired from sitting on that uncomfortable ass metal bench, (that was sloped down btw) so I sat in one of those seats. Not 2 minutes later, an usher comes over and goes "That seat belongs to someone, you have to get up and leave". This was the 5th inning. If nobody is sitting in that seat now, nobody is going to come sit in that seat. Fucking narc! After that, I was completely done with the stadium and bailed. - No "fun" to be had outside the stadium, just lots of concrete. - Big ass circus tent. Its air conditioned, congratulations, the stadium still sucks! - Too many "bros". Marked it off my list of stadiums to see, but will not be coming back here ever again. Didn't have a fun time at all. Lame!

Yelp
I have been to Tropicana so many times before that I didn't even realize that I have never reviewed it. Of course, everyone is always talking about the controversial topic of it being moved into Tampa for more attendance but to me that just means the people of Pinellas and Manatee Counties will go longer go as often so it will be the same issue. We'll just have to see how and when things all go down. I do love that it is 100% covered and inside because this is Florida and gets super hot outside where it can make going to a game unbearable. I have been to games outside here like at Raymond James where the sun literally drives you out of your seat and you miss some of the game. Even with being here a dozen or so times, I still have never made my way to the Sting Ray tank... I need to make that a stop next time I go and before the location moves and the new one might not include it. Not that I haven't seen or pet sting rays but how many baseball fields have them?

Yelp
My 10th MLB stadium. Interesting stadium to visit. We had fun as a visiting team, there were actually a lot of other away fans and we didn't get any hassle from locals. The view of the ball can get lost in the roof. You can tell it's an older stadium, strange set up. Walking around the outfield the floors were sticky, the stairs felt hollow. It was originally built as an ice hockey stadium and then they repurposed it for baseball. They have the stingrays petting area which was basically a "zoo", there didn't seem to be many stingrays in it and the water was pretty deep so you had to get your arm in far to even try to pet one. They have their Mickey statue still at the stadium, he's on the lower concourse. Check out Guest Services for a 1st time visitor certificate. Raymond was out in the rotunda meeting fans before game time which was cool, (I believe he does this regularly) it's was his birthday too, so other MLB mascots were out too. Security was easy, it's the WDW style metal detectors.

Yelp
I have heard bad things about the Trop my entire life, however, I wanted to give it a try. Overall, I was very displeased with my visit. First off, the cheapest ticket I could get was $36 with fees. It was a bleacher seat at the very top of the outfield. I have had seats like this at other stadiums over the years, but they usually cost anywhere from $4 - $12, rather than $36. The view was very bad, but I ended up walking around the outfield viewing area next to the bars. In regards to the food, I couldn't decide as it was a extremely expensive and lackluster. I ended up getting a bratwurst for $18 with no sides that was tough to eat. I know I have been spoiled as I grew up going to Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City which is known for great food! Very rough!! The only thing that was positive was the parking as it was pretty easy and somewhat cheap if you park only a few blocks out. I was hoping to have a few good things to say, but I just can't find much of anything. Overall, the atmosphere is just not good for baseball. I hope they get a new stadium soon that cares about the fan experience.
