Troy City Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Fall River, Massachusetts in December 2018. It was founded by business partners Keith Carvalho and Mike Ferreira. The name of the brewery is a reference to the historical name of Fall River. Although originally founded under the name "Fall River" in 1803, the town changed its name to "Troy" the following year and eventually changed it back in 1834. Carvalho started a home brewing club in Fall River in 2006. In 2017, Troy City brewing was founded as a home brewing entity when Carvalho joined forces with Ferreira. Eventually they would move in at a historic textile mill and opened their taproom to the public a year later. Together with nearby Canned Heat Craft Brewing, Troy City Brewery brings the brewing industry back to Fall River for the first time since 1963.
My wife and I first visited Troy Cory in October 2019. We were in town for the day to visit the home of Fall River's most infamous citizen: Lizzie Borden!! After visiting some spooky sites around town, we decided to check out Fall River's local craft brewery scene. When we arrived, they were having a Halloween costume party in the taproom (which was totally fine with us). I ended up sampling four beers: the Rail Trail Cranberry Lager, the TCB Test IPA, Maplecroft (Maple Syrup Porter), and Gage Hill (Toasted Marshmallow Chocolate Porter). The last one was my favorite and it came with a cinnamon-sugar rimmed glass. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our visit to Troy City. If you're planning on visiting any spooky Lizzie Borden sites in Fall River this Halloween season, make sure to visit Troy City Brewing.
