"Truck Stop Cafe is truly a hidden gem. Though I’d like for it to stay that way, the family who runs it is lovely and deserves the shoutout. What’s great about it is the no frills menu—an ode to old-school truck stops with its simple bacon and eggs-type breakfasts for no more than $6–8. Because it’s run by an Asian family, you’ll also find items like wonton noodle soup if a traditional breakfast isn’t your thing. Either way, the service alone is reason to check it out." - WoodType

I thought the same thing at first, but turns out it just changed owners. The new owner is keeping everything pretty much the same classic breakfast, same good prices. I was there recently and it still felt like the same Truck Stop Café we all know. Definitely worth going back!

Google
Truck Stop Cafe is the best place in Vancouver to grab some classic diner style breakfast or lunch. Their FOH guy Edward is such a stand up dude. Every time we come here we see him engaging the customers with patience and respect. You notice he remembers the regulars orders. We saw a guy leave today and he said “I’m on a job here for a year, I’ll be back several times a week.” Come eat here and you’ll see why he felt that way. The food is simple, but it’s cooked perfectly. Not just well but perfectly every time. The Aunties in the back have got to be the best short order breakfast cooks in the game.

Google
Visiting from New Zealand so took thr family here for breakfast. Usual breakfast fare available. Did not expect the serving size. My blueberry pancakes and coffee was wonderful. Grandchildren were well looked after, so was husband and son. The person that served us was so nice, never saw the bottom of the cup. Ignore the decor and focus on the food, we loved it, we think we also saw a cowboy dinning.

Google

Google
Love supporting family own businesses and glad to have finally tried Truck Stop Cafe. Friendly service and was greeted and seated right away. Food came out in a timely manner and didn't have to wait long at all. One of the best homemade diner burgers I have had and well worth the price point. The patty was home made, juicy and flavorful. Got the works and there was no need to add anything else. Only disappointment was they ran out of onion rings to substitute jk! The eggs for the breakfast was cooked medium well as ordered and the potatoes were crispy and soft, but most importantly not powdery like a lot of home fries can get. Highly recommend this place and will be adding this to a regular rotation for sure!

Breakfast was delicious, with generous portions and reasonable prices. Although parking is limited, it’s definitely worth the experience. I’ll be back to try the lunch menu!

Google
I’ve grown up in the Chinese style Canadian restaurants, so whenever I see a cafe like this, I’m nostalgic for the hamburgers because they’re just SO good (if you’re born and raised in Vancouver, you know what I’m talking about!) Truck Stop Cafe did not disappoint 🤤 I got the Works burger no cheese and my husband got the breakfast, both very delicious and reasonably priced! It’s a small diner style cafe with great service and the food comes out quick. Definitely coming back!

Google
Saw an article about this place online so decided to come in and try. Glad we did! Walked in just after 9am when they opened on Sat. Bright, cheerful and immaculate. Greeted right away by the server. We were the first to arrive. Fast friendly service the entire visit. Several others arrived while we were eating, I suspect some were regulars. Speed of service was very good. Quality of the food was 5 star. I had the Truckers Omelet and my wife had the French Special. The serving sizes were great for the very reasonable price. Little details like the speed of refills and polite demeanor stand out for me. I will have to visit again to try lunch sometime. Give this place a try!

Yelp
Food was great, Ive been searching for these kinds of ma & pa cafes, old school cafe dinner foods. Service was quick, the son runs the front floor, fast with the coffee & water. The interior ambiance is old but clean, nothing fancy but 60', 70's feel.

Yelp
Great place for a breakfast. Loved their pancakes. This is a small restaurant which reminds me the 80's and their customer service is amazing.

Yelp
The casual family owned restaurant has been a staple of my eating pleasure for many years. It's a shame that more and more family owned restaurants are closing due to high rental costs. I hope you take the time to visit and enjoy a good home cooked meal at a reasonable price. There is free parking in the back. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Great service, classic diner menu with lots of variety. Great neighborhood feel. Good coffee too.

Yelp
This has been a favourite for years now. It's increasing popularity though has yielded a wait time during their peak hours, whether it's during the lunch rush on weekdays or throughout the day on Saturdays. Also, it's not a very big room so there aren't many seats to begin with. Nevertheless, if you're patient there's nothing that'll disappoint, if you're looking for breakfast fare or Chinese Canadian staples. There's no washroom, but the prompt food and service make up for it. (Eat with the utensils they provide if you haven't washed your hands.)

Yelp
Can't go wrong with some Great Comfort eatZ ! Had the pattie melt.. recommended, juicy pattie(get two if your feeling adventuresome) onions and perfectly grilled bread with a side of hashbrowns (thin slices of potatoes with the perfect amount of crunch)

Yelp
Solid, laid-back diner with a menu that ticks all the boxes. Daytime hours places are always fun for a night owl like me, but I wore my King of Takeout crown and got breakfast one day. French toast and a vegetarian omelette. The French toast was well-made, but came with cheapo condiments. Veggie cheddar omelette was meh, not a ton of flavour or cheese. Potatoes it came with were not as crispy-fried as I wanted them to be. But I got a thermos full of filter coffee which was perfect. Very friendly staff and a nice family vibe, and super duper cheap, so I won't complain too much.

Yelp
It's a truck stop cafe. Very easy to miss when you're driving on Clark Dr either north or south bound. Western and Chinese cuisine available. It's a three star, but a very enthusiastic three star. It's family run and if I were to take a wild, wild guess, they live in the upper part of the building too. The day I came here, son(?) runs the front part of the business. He seats you, brings menus, brings food and clears tables. The rest of the family cooks in the back. Overall the prices are very cheap for what you're getting. See pics. Entire meal under $25 tip in. They know who the regulars are. The son(?) asked whether I lived in the area or not when I went to pay. He's a very, very pleasant guy. Very mature for his age and soft spoken. Recommended for cheap eats. Don't come here expecting anything fancy. It is what it is. Parking on side streets. VISA/MC accepted.

Yelp
Old school, cheap, and good. Real regulars go here and I doubt there are many more places like this left. There is nothing gourmet or artisanal here... just a cheap breakfast and an old school grill,.. not even many windows.. I wonder how long the property will last but it is in the most odd location,.. and that is why I like it.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Can't beat these prices with this food. It's hard to find a true hole-in-the-wall like this nowadays (probably because of Van's sky high commercial real estate prices) so its refreshing to help out a mom and pop restaurant like this. Food consistently greasy spoon excellent.

Yelp
Tucked not-so-quietly off the side of Clark Drive in East Vancouver, the Truck Stop Café is a great option for a fast and cheap meal. What the café lacks in feng shui it definitely makes up for in menu selection and no nonsense service. The menu items spanned the globe - with options ranging from roast beef to chinese noodles to lasagna! The breakfast selections were impressively diverse - and the portions ample. Prices were reasonable. You're definitely getting trucker diner fare, with prices to match. Coming in under $5 - including tax and tip - is an easy feat. The bathroom at the TSC left something to be desired - mainly sanitization. We're assuming that most truckers are accustomed to highway side portapotties. This bathroom was definitely on par. That said, the rest of the restaurant was neat and clean. And there were bursts of decorative flare here and there- including a stuffed big bird doll in the back corner, illuminated trucker themed art, and a dusty old milk shake machine. The neon green menus added a splash of color to the room. Our service was attentive and our coffees were refilled promptly. Truckers must like to keep to a tight schedule, and most customers seemed to enter, eat, and leave in record speed. There's no energy wasted here. Forget garnishes, extra smiles, or a good hot sauce selection. The Truck Stop Café keeps to the bare minimum on all counts - but when you're in the mood for food, fast and simple - this place has got you covered. Sadly, if you are looking to rub shoulders with real live truckers, you're better off heading to the Husky! Highlight: Diverse menu selection. Lowlight: It was too hot and humid!

Yelp
It's your standard greasy spoon, but if you just want a chill spot to grab a bite it's decent. I come here for a cheddar bacon burger and fries for $5.95. And a root beer float for like 3.95. Try it out! Great, friendly service too.

Yelp
Can't go wrong. Classic diner with tasty, nicely cooked diner food for a really great price. Good, fast, pleasant service: it's family run place I'd say, and they're nice people. Burgers and breakfasts are good, clubhouse too, French toast looks awesome. Not fancy in any way, just tasty: eggs are cooked perfectly, bacon is nice, burger patties are made in house, veggies on the sandwiches are fresh, etc. And lots of food for your money. Bang for your buck is among the best in Vancouver. If you're looking for some pretentious nonsense just go somewhere else. If you do actual, measurable work for a living and would like a large tasty traditional breakfast, check it out. Coffee's way better than I expected too: usually that's the weak spot at old diners but here it's hot and fresh. Food comes out quick, so you can do it up on a standard lunch break.

Nicole G.

Yelp
I couldn't be more clear about anything; don't eat here. It's old, it's dirty, it's rundown, the food is horrible, but the staff are nice. The food tastes cheap. It looks like there's dirt and grime that has been there since they opened (which was a very long time ago). If you do happen to eat here, my thoughts are with you.

Kristin C.

Yelp
You won't find his place cruising around looking for a hot spot for a date. You'll find it because: a) you drive down clark drive everyday aka you're a trucker b) you live near by (like me!) c) you are a trucker looking for a good time This place has it all: - cheap eats -- you can find a decent meal for around $5 - ghetto decor -- lots of pictures of trucks and trucking stuff - interesting cliente - i'm not sure where these folks come from but I only see them at the truck stop cafe in the mornings or late night bingo sessions This place is rad if you only have pocket change for a meal and don't wanna wait 45 minutes for breakfast on The Drive ...*ahem Havanas*

Yelp
I come for breakfast here. Get the daily paper Coffee is always full Service is great, food is fast and good. All this at a great price. "Yea dig"

Yelp
This is by far the best burger i've ever had. They make whatever you want. I once ordered a double bacon mushroom cheese burger with a side poutine and it was AMAZING. They make their food with love and pride. extremely friendly family atmosphere. Delicious strawberry shake. Tastes like a real burger and shake tasted back in like the 50s. nothing weird added to the beef. my grandmother used to work in a diner back in the 1960s. She said it tastes EXACTLY like it did back then. Classic diner food at a very good price. oh and their spring rolls look homemade and are SOOO GOOD if you order them make sure to order a few orders not just one :) I wish i found this place sooner. This is a real gem. I'm keen to try their chinese food. But i can never find myself ordering anything but that delicious burger with a poutine lol.

Yelp
My favourite old school diner for breakfast. Awesome place for bacon and eggs, pancakes and omelettes. Prices are cheap! Coffee is really good too, surprisingly. I haven't tried the burgers but they seem to be very popular since I saw a lot of people ordering them. Fries looked amazing. This place is not fancy but it is old fashioned goodness that is rare to find these days. This place is a gem. The family that runs this place is top notch.

Sean K.

Yelp
Awesome find. Everyone I've brought here just love it. Prices are great, food is fresh and delicious with fantastic service! I love supporting this diner.

Yelp
I'm a small town girl and I love a truck stop diner. It's simple, affordable, home cooking. The family that owns/runs this place are lovely, hard working people. My boyfriend and I love this place. We've never tried anything other than breakfasts/sandwiches/burgers (which are all really good) but one day we will. We live in White Rock now but journey all the way in for some Truck Stop Diner food. Note - I love watching the truckers come in and order Salisbury Steak to go.

Carson H.

Yelp
My favourite restaurant in town, great friendly service and a very vast menu with more items than any other greasy spoon restaurant of this caliber. 100% family owned, you will see the same staff every day working hard for the people of east van. Very busy during the lunch rush during the work week for good reason, this spot draws a good cross section of working class people and is a pillar of the Clark drive industrial community. Their burger patties are made fresh daily, they don't make milkshake machines like the one they have anymore, their omlettes are the best around (properly folded, not a bunch of stuff scrambled together) and although I am not a huge fan of their chow mien (the noodles are very soft), their daily Chinese special is the most food you will get for ten dollars anywhere in this city, unless you enjoy packing in two or three bons breakfasts at once, which does get to be a bit much if you do it too frequently. Not feeling grease? No worries. They have the biggest bowls of udon I've ever seen too. And nice salads. Lots of options for everyone.

Yelp
Great family run business in an adorable diner style restaurant. I had freshly made Sweet and Sour pork and it was delicious. The service is great and the price are extremely reasonable

Max L.

Yelp
Love this place for family brunch without the hipster crowds judging me for bringing babies into a restaurant! Great staff will remember you after 2 visits you're a regular already
