I live in the area and pass by all the time was told that It was a vegetarian very healthy place and it is however they do sell protein which I was told they don’t. The drinks are fire and the service was exquisite shout out to Julius. He was awesome. Explain things just didn’t try to get me to buy anything, yeah actually was awesome. definitely coming back Shout out To Julius⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
I made a on-line order and it was my first time doing so. I was confused as to where I would pick up my order when I came in. After telling hostess my name he left and never came back. I was left standing and looking around to find where to pick up on my own with no direction. And I left tip and I didn’t get a fork in bag. Oh well…my food was good.

Google
This was my first time going to True Food and I have to say, apart from the delicious food, the service was exceptional. I believe my servers name was Josh, he was incredibly kind and patient with me. Any questions I had about dietary restrictions and allergens, he was able to guide me without any hesitation and with complete transparency. I appreciated his helpfulness & especially his patience. Definitely one of the better places I’ve eaten because of the service.

Google
I had the pleasure of dining at True Foods for the first time, and I must say, my experience was exceptional thanks to my server, Josh. From the moment I arrived, he provided excellent service that truly enhanced my meal. Josh's warm smile and professional demeanor made me feel welcomed and valued as a customer. It's clear that he represents your company beautifully. I will definitely be returning and hope to have Josh as my server again! Highly recommend!

Google
The food was outstanding, as I had the grass fed burger with the Kale salad as a side. Along with the atmosphere you really can't go wrong eating here. I really want to give a shout out to my server, his name is Henry, who was very attentive to all of our needs. Henry really made our experience that much more pleasurable as his knowledge of the menu was second to none. Kudos to a great establishment, outstanding food, and an exceptional server.

Google
I recently had the pleasure of having dinner at this location on a hunch, looking to try something new to me in the area. I must say I was more than impressed with the dishes, drinks and above all else my server Josh! I let him know it was my first time eating at True Food Kitchen and let him know that I was looking to have something flavorful, but not too exotic. He suggested the Korean Noodle Bowl with Steak, and I must say he hit the nail on the head. Not only was his suggestion to par, but Josh's conversation, and service enhanced my dining experience as he was attentive, but not bothersome. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who anyone who has never been, and if you want to leave with no only a good meal, but also an excellent experience ask for Josh!

Google
The vibes in this try food are great. Place is clean and modern. The wait staff was great at the bar and during our brunch service. The food was delicious. The manager was nice enough to bring us out cookies after our meal too. Overall, the only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star is the amount of food for the price. I ordered the steak breakfast burrito for $16.50. The burrito itself was pretty small and there was no side.

**Be Forewarned: This restaurant is BEYOND SLOW!! For no reason. Every time we come here, and every single time I pick up a delivery — It takes at least 10 to 15 minutes longer to be given your order than listed or told. Why!?!? There are ample staff, few customers… and yet it takes an awful long time for the bare minimum order. The people are friendly, so the atmosphere is nice. This is a positive. But I’d rather not have my time wasted! True Food kitchen in Arlington, you can do better! :-/

Yelp
I ordered in due to long week at work. Well worth it.Yummy through and through. Beef was juicy, not dry. Tuna was so fresh and included lettuce and quinoa mix. Soup was perfectly seasoned. I would recommend this place to anyone. So delicious made me wanna go back for seconds.

Yelp
When we arrived, even though I printed out my Open Table reservation confirmation, they spent ten minutes looking for it, couldn't find it and put us down as walk-ins. The place was half empty on a Friday night. The server was nice but the drinks and food took forever. Getting four glasses of wine took 20 minutes. They brought half of our party's meals about 20-25 minutes after ordering, they the other half 15 minutes later. So awkward, and 40 minutes is a long time to wait for a sandwich wrap! That's just incompetent restaurant management. My family thought their food was good or ok, but my Thai peanut noodles were a lump of sticky, brown glop with way too much sauce and overcooked noodles. There were virtually no vegetables, and it was really just too salty and unpleasant to eat. I took a few bites and couldn't eat any more. The server saw I didn't eat much and that I didn't want to take the food home, but never asked if my food was ok. Dinner for 5 with five glasses of wine was $240 including tip. The food at True Food is just not as fresh or interesting as it once was. It's too bad.

Yelp
Good spot for healthy food options in Ballston. We had the brussel sprouts as an app, and the turkey burger and ancient grains bowl with chicken for dinner. All very solid! Their brunch is really good as well.

Katie S.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots. This is one of the few places that I never feel guilty eating at - and it's also a treat at the same time!! Edamame dumplings are a must-try. And the butternut squash soup in the fall season.... Chef's kiss!

Sharon H.

Yelp
The food comes out relatively fast, and the food is consistent with the quality and taste of True foods other locations. The ancient grain bowl is always a good solid choice, and with salmon makes it a colorful and filling meal. It's a good portion overall. The Poke bowl is less worth it given the size and price; the taste is pretty standard. Staff is friendly and nice and never seems too busy during lunch hour.

Jamie J.

Yelp
Great food. Great location. I've been to other true food locations but this one is located in Ballston Quarter mall and overlooks the square where events were going on one Saturday that we went so that was a cool experience. Food was great - I had a brunch farmers bowl with oat milk ice coffee -it was delicious. Our waitress was great about accommodating my sesame allergy and told me which items to avoid. Much appreciated! Our only note was that our waitress left our check and then did not come back for some time. We had to get someone else's attention before someone came to get our check/payment method so we could leave.

Yelp
Updating my review. I had gotten notification for potential fraud from my credit card because the tip was listed as 33%. I'm a good tipper, but I know that was inaccurate. I called True Food and they looked into for me, and turns out I was overcharged. They said they would reimburse me, and as I was going through my credit card bill I realized they never did. I realize that the initial could have been an error, but to not follow through with reimbursement too? The whole thing concerns me. Check your bill!!

Whitney L.

Yelp
Last minute decision to order some food with a co-worker. I placed an order for kale salad with chicken and didn't realize how pricey it was. Food was delicious and arrived pretty quickly though. But really $30 for a small salad for delivery is truly overpriced. Would not recommend delivery but possibly dining in as an option.

Terrell R.

Yelp
This was one of the better spots I've been to locally in terms of providing a wide variety of healthy food options. The venue itself is spacious with wooden tables accented by lime green chairs and sofa seating. I came here for dinner and was quickly seated. Their menu features appetizers like roasted brussel sprouts, tuna lettuce wraps, and charred cauliflower, a variety of salad and bowl options like Chinese chicken, seasonal market salads, teriyaki quinoa, and entrees like grass-fed tenderloins, chicken Parmesan, and grilled salmon with prices ranging from $13-$30. I decided to try the edamame dumplings, pesto pasta and a watermelon mojito. Service was excellent the servers were very attentive to the table and the food arrived in a timely manner. The mojito was delicious, light and refreshing, I'm not the biggest edamame fan however the dumplings were a hit for me, and the pesto pasta was amazing a solid portion size, large shrimp, and overall very fresh and vibrant tasting ingredients. I certainly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for healthy yet great tasting alternatives to the typical restaurant experiences.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a long long time. I'm so glad I finally did. They have a very modern fresh quality, unique type of dishes they have a lot of options to choose from. I can't wait to go back and try more of what they have to offer. They have indoor and outdoor seating if the weather is nice outdoor is perfect but indoor is really cute as well so you can gowrong there. we had a great server, great food, great experience. It definitely lived up to my expectation

Manuel G.

Yelp
Everything here was amazing. We had a table of 10. Service was outstanding. They mixed a good drink to start with. Pizza was a hit the kids. The hummus was such a hit we order a second serving. The Gluten free pita surprised even those that weren't gluten free. The steak salad was so balanced and filling met all the allergy requirements. Then when we had desserts. Dairy and gluten free cobbler. Probably the best dessert I've had in years. Gluten free cookies. SO GOOD I ORDER A HALF DOZEN TO TAKE HOME. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY.

John J.

Yelp
This place was a great find! The menu is pretty unique. They have rotating seasonal items and everything we have tried so far has been great. The service is top notch. The inside is bright and comfortable. Been there a few times now and will keep going.

Yelp
No AC, no servers, and nothing for free- True food kitchen was such an expensive and lackluster dinner. Came in with a group and they wouldn't sit us outside because they "don't move" tables. Inside was super hot at 7pm and it took 15 minutes for our waitress to even come to take drink orders. When we asked questions about menu items she told us half of them weren't good which honesty is appreciated but what a bad look if your own server thinks half the food is bad? Drinks came out in waves, even when most of us had no alcohol. My Mediterranean wrap was 17$ with no protein and no satiating side- just a plane leafy salad. My friend asked for a side of ranch and the waitress straight up forgot and then we had to re-remind her...oh and we got charged an extra dollar. Want to make your side kale salad a Caesar? 7$ up charge! My friends medium rare burger came out well done. Waitress was not really attentive either. The whole thing was so insanely overpriced and mediocre.

Parth R.

Yelp
True food is an excellent spot for their incredibly wholesome meals and creatively healthy twists on common classics. For example, the edamame dumplings in a bone broth have a creamy truffle included, while the sweet potato pizza is really just a kale salad on some really good toasted bread with good quality ricotta. All classics, but with a twist. The ingredients taste fresh, I never feel "inflamed" or gross after a meal here, and the prices aren't horrible for the value. A solid lunch or takeout spot!

Doug B.

Yelp
Personal and professional wait staff. Very limited menu. Very expensive. So loud and noisy as to make the best food (which it is not) unenjoyable. Not recommended.

Alex P.

Yelp
The vibes in this try food are great. Place is clean and modern. The wait staff was great at the bar and during our brunch service. The food was delicious. The manager was nice enough to bring us out cookies after our meal too. Overall, the only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star is the amount of food for the price. Yelp
I love true food! First time at this location and it did not disappoint. Got a spritzer which was pretty much just flavored seltzer water and a bowl with veggies and pesto.

Desiree B.

Yelp
Our pizzas were really tasty. I do love the fact that you know you're getting quality products here that are sourced well. Our service was great for it to be a busy brunch time. The restaurant as a whole was very inviting.

Ellen K.

Yelp
I came here back in November to meet a friend for dinner. We wanted to go here for healthier options. I got the ancient grains bowl with tofu. While it was excellent, even with the tofu add-on, I was still so hungry. Coincidentally, I saw on the DC Vegans Facebook group that someone else ate here on the same day and had the same complaint.! I went to Jammin Java for a concert afterwards and ended up having to order fries there. So much for trying to eat a bit better! Definitely will think twice about coming back to True Food Kitchen if I'm actually hungry. Maybe the 3 star rating is a bit unfair, but don't mess with a hangry woman, right? 4 stars across the board for service, food quality and ambienace 2 stars for portions / value

Ailun H.

Yelp
I live a block away from True Food Kitchen and have walked by it countless times. My friends and I decided to grab a convenient dinner here last Friday evening. Overall, the food was a 3/5 or 3.5/5 at best. There's really nothing to write home about. The food was fine, but given it's high prices, I'm not sure if it's a restaurant I'd come back to anytime soon. They have calorie counts on the menu, which is helpful for those who are looking to track their intake. For me, I don't want to know, lol, because it deters me from ordering what I really want. SEASONAL BURRATA - 16.50 I love burrata, and so do my friends, so this was the perfect appetizer to share. While burrata has a delicate flavor, I love the creaminess and the texture that it provides. They gave us a few slices of grilled bread which went well with the burrata. The bread wasn't toasted really well and I thought it was a bit too soggy, would have preferred a bit of that crunch. The vinaigrette went well with the salad (felt like there was a bit too much) and the greens were fresh and light. LASAGNA BOLOGNESE - 19 We were wondering how a lasagna could possibly be 450 calories, but upon receiving the entree, we understood immediately. It was tasty, don't get me wrong, but it looked and tasted very healthy. The sauce was made mainly out of vegetables and there was a light amount of ricotta or carbs in this dish. It's probably the healthiest lasagna I've eaten and will ever eat. Again, it was fine, but if you want that hearty lasagna that is a guilty pleasure and comfort food at the same time, the lasagna bolognese will not satisfy that. SPINACH & MUSHROOM PIZZA - 18 This was fine. The pizza dough is really thin and kind of floppy, so I needed the help of my fork to pick up each slice (otherwise all the toppings would slide off the dough). The flavors were on the healthier end. The caramelized onions provided a sweet and juicy flavor, and the mushrooms were delicious. The ricotta was minimal, but the bites that did have ricotta were my favorite. Overall, not bad but not amazing. If you want to splurge on a healthy dining experience, True Food Kitchen is a good bet if you're in the Ballston area.

Tyrone Omar N.

Yelp
True Food Kitchen was great! We loved the Butternut Squash Pizza that is currently in their seasonal menu! I thought the Teriyaki Quinoa Bowl (I added Tofu) was cooked properly and the taste was fresh. I believe there is room for improvement in terms of service, but overall a good experience.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Recently had lunch here with a friend and I have to say it was really great. Service was excellent and food was great. I had the burger with side kale salad. It was just the right size. I even had the blueberry crumble ice cream. Everything was great. I will definitely be back

Jacob T.

Yelp
Fun place to eat! The food was good not great, but everything is very healthy which is always a huge plus - I got the spicy korean chicken sandwhich and my girlfriend got a curry dish. The wait stuff was nice and decently attentive, would recommend anyone to try it.

Xaiban A.

Yelp
Came for lunch with a friend on a weekday and we sat outside. The vibe was chill and food was delicious. I've never had a bad meal at True Food. Their menu is seasonal and constantly changing with tasty new things to try. All for a non-exorbitant price

Kellie S.

Yelp
A friend and I went out for dinner, and I enjoyed everything that I tried! There is affordable parking in the garage for the mall. There is also inside and outside dining available. We made a reservation, though we went early Thursday evening, around 5:30. There weren't many people around when we arrived, but it definitely got busy by the time we were ready to leave. Those edamame dumplings were so unassuming, but full of flavor. Definitely my favorite part of the meal! I was surprised that the chicken wrap was served cold. It definitely took me by surprise, but it wasn't bad. We also had spritzers, and my friend ordered the Lasagna Bolognese, which was nice. Our service was great, and we were provided great recommendations when needed. Overall, a great experience for my first time out in Ballston.

Emma S.

Yelp
So good! My boyfriend and I got the edamame dumplings and tuna lettuce wraps appetizer, and couldn't agree on which we liked more! He got the Korean chicken sandwich and potatoes, and said the potatoes were great but would rather regular lettuce on the sandwich. I got the spaghetti squash casserole and loved it! For dessert, we got the strawberry crumble, and loved it! Our server was great as well and super helpful.

Sean K.

Yelp
The food here felt clean and portions were good. The service was probably the best part of the meal as they were friendly and attentive to our needs. Got the chicken wrap and shared a basil pizza. Chicken wrap was great and light. The pizza was a little salty, but not overly salty so i still enjoyed it. Sounds like their specialty is in fresher feeling menu items like their bowls/salads and veggie dishes. Brussel sprouts were also nicely done. Would come back again!

Alise G.

Yelp
I stop by True Food frequently when I am in the area. The food is good, I typically feel satisfied and ready to get back to work after lunch. I tried the apple lemonade from the winter menu, very refreshing and delicious. I also love their squash pie. I would've never ordered this but our server highly recommended it. For my entree, I love the lasagna bolognese and I add on addition chicken (blackened). It's the perfect portion size. The service is normally really good and the food is always fresh. I highly recommend this place for a team lunch, dinner with family or catching up with friends.

Anjali S.

Yelp
Amazing!! Would get it again. I love this pizza so much and the drink was great too! The ambiance there is always nice

Cheryl T.

Yelp
Stopped by here for dinner one day. We ordered the butternut squash pizza (garlic puree, organic kale, roasted butternut squash, caramelized onion, with a house-made vegan almond ricotta and OMG this was delicious. What amazed me the most was that it was vegan and did not bother my stomach at all! The toppings all complimented each other and each bite was great. We also ordered the ancient grains bowl (miso sesame glazed sweet potato, onions, snap peas, portobello mushrooms, avocado, help seed, cilantro pumpkin seed pesto) with salmon on top. This dish was also amazing. i really enjoyed the taste of the miso sesame glazed sweet potatoes. Combined, every bite was very flavorful and it was the perfect portion size.

Jean B.

Yelp
Awful service. Walked in, the hostess didn't look at us or acknowledge us. We had to ask if we could have a seat. Once sat, we waited 20 minutes and had to ask a waiter who our server was. After another 5 minutes we finally got water and our order was taken. No apologies for the wait. We received our food 45 minutes after sitting down and one of the orders was wrong. We have now been here an hour and one of us cannot eat because they still don't have food. Over an hour after being sat, everyone relieved their food. Food was underwhelming, chicken sandwich was dry, and waters were never refilled. Multiple tables have been sat and have left since we were sat. We will never come here again.

Jill K.

Yelp
I love True Food Kitchen. The food is always so good, and Keerthi was on point with her service. Recommendations were great and service was quick!

Zack G.

Yelp
Health-forward American spot with very fresh food Menu has a fair amount of options, and changes every season Right outside of the Ballston mall in a space feels is pretty urban I got the Kimchi Steak Fried Rice, and it was very tasty but also very spicy

Erica V.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Turkey was undercooked and my son went to bathroom half way through. Hair in my salad. Over price for food. Will not be coming back

K W.

Yelp
This is not the best True Food Kitchen. The service is always super slow and my food is often cold. I was being very patient, but when I saw tables being served that came well after me, I had to inquire regarding the status of my order, which I'd requested that they bring as each item was ready. They did nothing I'd requested. What's worse is this last time, my pizza came out burnt and cold! Why??? Yes, they rectify, but it sure would be nice to get served fresh, hot food in under 30-40 minutes. I think I'll venture to Mosaic the next time I have a hankering for TFK.

Jessie L.

Yelp
I recently dined at True Food Kitchen and found the food to be decent, though the service was a bit slow. However, the prices were fair, and the environment was lovely and clean. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Dayna G.

Yelp
I had the Chinese Chicken Salad for lunch today at Ballston True Food. It was mushy, bland, and almost tasteless. They also sat me at a table that was so close to the window that I could barely get into or out of my seat and I am a thin person.

Rachel B.

Yelp
The server and ambiance was spot on. The salmon was delicious however the chicken ramen was good, but strange. It has glass clear rice noodles instead of standard ramen noodles. The broth was not rice like most ramen. It reminded me more pho. Would not order again& AVOID!The drinks were very good and would yet again! Would come back & recommend to friends!

Emily H.

Yelp
Not my first time here, but I went with some different dishes! Grilled Korean Steak 6.5/10 - Steak was super chewy which made it hard to enjoy -- not juicy - Salad, rice, and sauce were tasty Margherita Pizza 9/10 - Can't go wrong with pizza! - Thin and delicious Charred Cauliflower 9/10 - Creamy sauce and great appetizer Service was very friendly and quick as usual! You can easily order everything and pay from your phone through the QR code. I wish the steak was more tender to eat and marinated for more flavor. Besides that, I enjoyed eating here and will be open to coming back again for more!

Chanel G.

Yelp
It is just that...True, Food. Healthy choices for healthy folx. The Peach & Bourbon cocktail was wonderful the last time I went! Inside was giving colorful, modern industrial. However, we sat outside. Our server was attentive. I'm certain that I'll be making another visit here. What we ordered: Grilled chicken parm Teriyaki bowl kids Shrimp Quinoa Teriyaki Bowl

A Y.

Yelp
Awful service, awful food. I went to pick up an order. The hostess did not seem like she wanted to help. The food was awful, no taste, and the broccoli in my dish smelled weird. Just an FYI, customers don't want to spend their hard earned money for bad food.

Adithi M.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 5 for Sunday brunch. We didn't have to reserve ahead of time and were able to just walk in and get seated pretty quickly. We ordered our food soon after sitting but the restaurant was very busy and it took forever for our food to come out. I ordered the Vegan Double Cheeseburger and found it a very average burger. The sweet potato on the side was not very flavorful either.

John M.

Yelp
I'm not one to write reviews but for this amazing restaurant I will. I walked in for a table in the morning and I was greeted so well by the hostess, she did a great job accommodating me as best she could since I can't hear very well. Now my server was also astonishing he gave me good recommendations and attended me well, It was my first time in and I ended up getting the ancient grain bowl with salmon...AMAZING by the way. Loved everything about this place, will for sure be back soon

Lisa K.

Yelp
Wonderful healthy spot for lunch or catering. Highly recommend the chocolate chip cookies! They're vegan and gluten free.

Viktor S.

Yelp
Food - quality went down compared to a few years ago . I used to like this place but it went downhill. For the price you pay you can do better elsewhere. Had ahi tuna entree today and it made me feel very sick after. And that's not to mention it being bland, no seasoning. I had steak before and it was chewy, not great. The only thing I still like is their selection of fresh non alcoholic cocktails but they cost you as much as $10 a glass.... Yikes Service- took a party of 8 there before Christmas and they miserably failed, some people had to leave after an hour without eating their main course. Would I still recommend it? Maybe, but less likely at this point

L. V.

Yelp
Yes! This will be my "go to" spot when I fly in... -It's not far from the airport -vegan and gluten-free options -Great service -Clean space / bathroom was spotless -Drinks delicious but on the weaker side -Most importantly the food is YUMMY! Smiles all the way !! Will for sure be back when I'm in town and probably stop in again before I leave. Enjoy!

Alex S.

Yelp
The service here is not good...slow, inattentive, and apathetic. It took 30 min from sitting down to just get a glass of water and nearly that long to even be acknowledged. It was clear other tables around us were having similar struggles. Food is generally tasty, but portion sizes are small and some things aren't great (skip the lentil side salad). Overall, there are far better options in the area.

Misty E.

Yelp
True Food Kitchen has multiple locations in the US if you haven't heard of it. The premise of True Food is that it's based on the anti-inflammatory food pyramid. They pride themselves on being ethically sourced, organic and truly healthy. 80% of my diet is based on this so this place is high on my list! The food definitely tastes fresh and not processed. So if you want a meal that is yummy and healthy, it's a great option. Whether you're traveling to the East Coast for holidays/vacay/work or back home on the West Coast, you can find a location and try it!

Si H.

Yelp
Disappointed on food order and service. Waitress lacked of listening skill kept talking about what she want to sell versus what we the customers want to buy/order then it ended with the wrong kind of food and the wrong order brought out at the wrong time while we had to wait so long for the food (the restaurant was mostly empty and not busy at all!). The waitresses & waiters & manager talking chatting laughing without paying attention to the customers waving the hands asking for help... waiting for a good while! At the end, the bill was pre charged the tip of over 25% instead of leaving it to the customers to decide for its fair amount. The ambiance was excellent. Sadly we Won't come back!
