We went to True Food Kitchen last night after hearing all the hype and yes, it was with the hype! I made a reservation for five but it ended up only being three of us. I tried to call prior but didn't get answer; the woman at the front host stand was so kind about it. No big deal.
The ambiance is casual and relaxed, yet modern. It almost reminded me of a fancier CAVA atmosphere with a beautiful bar. So much greenery and lighting.
Our servers were AMAZING. We had two since we were there for three hours. Shoutout to WOODY & SAMANTHA R. Both kind, attentive, and funny; just all around good people and very knowledgeable with the menu tour!
We started with a bottle of wine to share, a favorite of mine that is a Paso Robles Cabernet. They had a pretty extensive wine and drink menu, which is always good. They also offer different coffees and teas! We were brought waters too, and random yes, but they were just crispy and delicious. Cold water but no ice, perfect.
The menu is so fun. There are so many different options and we of course had to try quite a few dishes to share! I love an extensive yet not overwhelming menu; we weren't in a rush and at not one point did we feel rushed by our servers. We started with the Tuna Lettuce Wraps & Edamame Truffle Dumplings. The Ahi Tuna Wraps were good, but let me tell you about these Dumplings: WOW. Woody recommended these and so did my friend, but I didn't need convincing. I could have eaten another order to myself. They are so flavorful, with a whisper of truffle but not too overpowering as truffle can sometimes be. I brought an extra order home to my husband and he also loved them. 10/10, do not skip these! We opted to share the classic Pepperoni Pizza as a next step; these are made with sourdough and so delicious! They are thin crust, but the actual crust is a bit thicker so it was perfect. We also ordered entrées; Nashville Chicken Sandwich, Thai Noodle Peanut Bowl, and Pot Roast Beef Dip. I tried the Nashville Chicken as this was air fried and light, yet still delicious, flavorful, and you didn't feel gross eating it, not a fan of fried foods and this was great. I also tried some tofu out of the Thai Noodle Peanut Bowl; so yummy, I love tofu! My own entrée was the Pot Roast Beef Dip. Think French Dip with Pot Roast, this was amazing! Cooked tender and the flavor was on point! We also shared a side of the Macaroni & Cheese (two sides, one for my dish and my sister got one originally to try), and unfortunately it was pretty bland. It has potential with more flavor/seasonings though! I got the Bougie Blanco
pizza to go for leftovers, and this pizza was AMAZING! It's a Parmesan cream sauce, black truffle (again, not too overbearing) arugula, and served with a size of house-made hot honey. So yummy!
Overall, we had a great experience at True Food Kitchen, a lovely addition to the cozy North Hills space. We will absolutely be back, and I highly recommend it! Also, fun fact: if you go Monday-Thursday and download the inKind app, you get $25 off of $75, and then earn even more cash for your next trip! Super simple and great that they do this.
