"A neutral SoHo/Chinatown space was transformed into an intimate sushi den: guests arrived via a discreet elevator and passed through a branded noren into a central dining area ringed by paper-lined, bamboo-edged screens and warm white light, with candles setting a ceremonial tone. The layout and subtle staging—waiting foyer, bar, and a restrained reveal of the sushi counter—were designed to mentally prepare diners for back-to-back chef-led omakase experiences and to showcase thoughtful pairings of artisanal cognacs with course-driven storytelling." - Vox Creative

If you want fresh meals and drinks try True Food Kitchen. This one is in the back of Roosevelt Field Mall. It has a large open well lit dining space with booths and tables.

I went here with my brother and sister-in-law for dinner. The place has a somewhat fancy yet calm atmosphere. The food was pretty good, personally. I ordred the grilled salmon, while my brother got the all-american burger (originally wanted the turkey burger but they were out of stock) and my sister-in-law got the steak. I enjoyed the salmon, and my brother liked his burger, although the fries that came with the burger were soggy. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law said the steak was a bit tasteless and dry. But overall, the place was fine.

Had a special dinner planned with friends from out of town which turned into a memorable moment, unfortunately not for the best. Picked True Food Kitchen because on paper the menu looked very tasty and diverse for both our friends and our kids. We made a reservation for an early dinner on a Saturday and when we arrived, the dining room was pretty empty. We were hungry after a long day and got to ordering. We had some questions which our waiter was gracious to answer and point out some of the highlights of menu. But shortly after, it turned into a very long game of waiting. It seemed like even though we arrived early in the dinner rush, since we were a table of 8, we saw tables sat after us getting water and food before us. The most frustrating part was we waited patiently but it was about an hour before we finally got a full set of utensils (half of us didn't have silverware), cups of water (even after our 2 hour dinner, still not everyone got water they had asked for so everyone was dying of thirst), and our meals. We didn't order anything particularly crazy. Some drinks, kids meals and burgers. Some of the food tasted ok but some also were pretty bad. Jambalaya didn't have much taste, and the apple lemonades didn't taste much of apple at all. One burger was cold and got sent back to the trash. Thankfully they removed it from our bill. The ambiance overall was nice and thankfully it wasn't too loud so we were able to catch up and chat. Our waiter tried, but not even getting our waters and lacking silverware was not a great experience.

Food was absolutely delicious with the perfect portion sizes! The wait staff was so kind and helpful. This is my new favorite restaurant and you can’t beat the clean ingredients.

Google
Food was great but service was lacking. They were all nice but seemed like every employee was new and lacked experience. Went there twice and both times we were handed the wrong food from a different table and our waiter didn't check up on us at all. It also took forever for them to take our payment and we had to walk up front to find someone. Management needs some work but the food was good.

We had such a lovely time at True Food Kitchen! Our server, Jessica, was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable—she made us feel truly welcome. Donnie, the manager, was equally wonderful, checking in with genuine care and creating such a positive atmosphere. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We left feeling nourished, happy, and already excited to return. Thank you, Jessica and Donnie, for an unforgettable visit!

It often takes a lot for me to get agitated at a restaurant, the service and food industries are not kind to their employees. Unfortunately, this is first time that I got so agitated, I had to post about it. A group of 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 children gathered for a dinner after not having seen each other for over half a decade, having just reunited to attend another friends wedding, and mourn the passing of another on the same day. That's not entirely necessary to the story here, but it gives context that emotions were already high and the focus was more on the conversation and being together than the food, but that can only last so long when faced with poor service. Two people were missing place settings, to which the server was notified several times about and nothing was done until I eventually got up after 40 minutes to take them from another empty table. Instead of asking who brought them, the server remarked "Oh, you got utensils" after arriving empty handed again, leaving me to reply "Yes, after taking them from another table." No water was ever brought to the table prior to or after ordering drinks, which took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. Additionally, my drink would not arrive until after my food was served, passing the one hour mark while other tables around us dined and drank, arriving well after we did. And speaking of drinks, I hadn't coordinated this outing and knew nothing about the restaurant or its food, so that's on me. That said, if I knew asking for a soda would get me a look that I just murdered an innocent animal for the fun of it, I would not have asked. It had to be one of the most unnerving looks I've ever received in my life and I worked retail for over 20 years, having thought I've seen it all. Learn something new everyday never gets old. When the food finally arrived, it was again well after an hour, perhaps an hour and a half at this point. I ordered a burger, medium. What I got, was a cold beef patty that was clearly sitting on a counter for well over thirty minutes. Still no drink at this point, so, after getting the attention of the server, who said the drink should be ready soon, told him the burger was cold and I want to send it back, with no replacement and was offered to have it removed from the bill. At least we could save some money, a silver lining. I can't say I've ever had a dining experience quite like this, nor do I hope to ever again. If this was any other outing, I would've simply left but I was there to see friends, the food was tertiary. But hey, at least the fries were salted decently, albeit cold and soggy, having sat in oil for far too long. I still know next to nothing about this restaurant, brand, or owner and I'm all the better for it because I can confidently say if anyone should ever ask about it, I can quickly tell them to go elsewhere without any hesitation.

Yelp
I have been to True Food Kitchen a few times. The food and service has been pretty much on point. However, this time everything was outstanding -from my waitress Maggie down to my vegan double cheeseburger and kale salad. Maggie was very sweet, professional, engaging and attentiv. She made sure my order was correct -burger was well done and my drink was switched because it wasn't as tasty as I expected. 5 starts all around...Come for the food and for Maggie's exceptional service. Thank you Tryr Food Kitchen and Staff!

Yelp
I like the concept, the decor is beautiful, and the service was good, but the food was really not good. We ordered sandwiches with two sides. The burger meat and chicken filet were fine, but the buns were stale, fries were soggy and order of sweet potato chips were mostly crumbs. Definitely not worth the price! After we were seated a man walked in, plopped himself in the table next to us, plugged in his laptop and proceeded to have a loud 20 minute phone conversation about real estate. I couldn't understand why he had to sit next to us though the restaurant was only a third full and there were plenty of empty seats where patrons wouldn't have to be subjected to his loud opinions. I later saw him walking around giving staff orders, which led me to believe he may be a supervisor. He should've been talking less and checking food quality better.

Yelp
My husband & I decided to try this restaurant today for lunch because we loved all of the healthy options. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was for us to get a table on a Saturday afternoon, but we'd soon learn why. As others have shared, the restaurant decor is lovely, and the food is delicious. Unfortunately, the drinks are underwhelming, and the service is sub par. We were seated immediately, but waited for some time to be greeted. Our server took our drink & appetizer orders and then went on her merry way. She didn't stop to check & see if we needed anything or clear our plates. I had to stop and ask her if anyone was going to clear our appetizer plates before the entrees arrived, and she grabbed the plates and placed them on the empty high top table beside us until some other waiter happened to walk by and grab them. I have no idea why she didn't just take them and place them in the back for cleaning. Almost immediately after our plates were clear another young lady brought out of entrees. I have the lasagna and my husband had the grilled salmon. Both were delicious. Once again, our server did not stop by to check and make sure that our orders We're 2-hour liking or inquire as to whether we needed anything. She just busy herself with other customers - mind you, the place was practically empty. I counted about 8 tables of two to four customers at that time, and there were at least two other servers actively interacting with their customers. After we cleaned our plates, we sat and watched our server do everything but come to our table. I noticed the manager sitting nearby and asked to speak with him. After sharing our concerns, the manager apologize and offered bus desserts at no charge. We appreciated it, but it didn't change the quality of our experience or lack thereof. While waiting for our dessert, which took so long we thought they had to bake them from scratch, a young lady walked in to place a to-go order from the bar. After standing for a while without being acknowledged, she about faced, shrugged her shoulders and walked out. I'd love to see this restaurant chain thrive, but we won't be returning or recommending it to anyone we know. I waited tables while in undergrad, so I understand the nature of the business. This team may a refresher training on providing quality service. If you're going to try them, I'd recommend using placing an online order to be delivered to your home.

Yelp
The food is delicious. Healthy ficus without the taste sacrifice is so rare. Bev did a great job as our server. The inside looks upscale and comfy. The cheesy mashed potatoes are bomb. The hummus is way better than what you'd get at a grocery store and the variety is great. Even the cocktails are good. I'd skip the juices unless you're looking for a healthy alternative and can't drink water as an adult. Parking is rough and you definitely will need to adjust to not feeling "full" because the ingredients are cleaner.

Yelp
Went for lunch to TFK aware of the kind of food they serve, however I had hope I would like it and it could be one of my regular eateries and be part of the rotation. One must have a taste for vegan food/taste and I don't have it but the menu and the my order I know they are true to their name. The restaurant is big and bright. The food made to order and the staff nice. If organic/vegetarian/vegan cuisine is your favorite I definitely recommend True Food Kitchen.

Yelp
Came here Saturday afternoon with my family while shopping for the holidays. My son has a few allergies and the general manager (I forget his name) was extremely helpful in us finding something for him to enjoy. Food came out and was delicious and it was so comforting not having not worry. Highly recommend this place if you have any type of dietary restrictions especially for kids (the chicken fingers are gluten free).

Yelp
Absolutely loved my experience here! The food was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor every dish tasted like it was made with real care. The ambience was warm and inviting, with a relaxing vibe that made it easy to enjoy the meal.

Yelp
Restaurant is located at the outside of the Roosevelt Field Mall, it has a lot of seating and wonderful decor all over the restaurant. They had explained how their menu worked and if I needed anything in particular, I can just ask. Bright Eyes ($9.75)- Pineapple, carrot, organic apple, ginger, turmeric, beet, and lemon. It had a nice kick from the ginger and expected it to be sweeter than it was. Edamame Dumplings ($14.95)- White truffle oil, dashi, thai basil. This had a nice amount of truffle flavor with a similar texture to grits. Without the dashi-based broth it would be too bland. Butternut Squash Pizza ($17.95)- Organic butternut squash, lemon almond ricotta, caramelized onion, organic kale and raisins. What a interesting combinations of ingredients that made it feel like more of a dessert pizza than a savory one. There was a generous with the amount of toppings but the dough itself could have been in the oven a little more Ancient Grains Bowl with added Chicken Tenders (18.35+$7.50)- Miso sesame glazed sweet potato, charred onions, snap peas, portobello, avocado, organic grains, pistachio pesto, hemp seeds and turmeric. This bowl was very filling since it had a lot of vegetables and grains, the taste was not my favorite because I felt like the sweet potatoes were a little too salty even when mixed together with the other ingredients. Chicken itself was a little dry but that is usually to be expected when using chicken breasts. Overall I thought the food itself was average and the some of the items was on the more expensive side but the service from Maggie and the staff were accommodating. She even said if the drink was not to my liking I can exchange it for another one. Visited 3/5/2025 Food- 6/10 Cleanliness- 9/10 Staff- 10/10

Yelp
First time here - came for breakfast with my husband and 3 yr old. Beautiful clean and happy lighting, very spacious which is great when you have a million bags for your toddler. Most importantly the food was delicious and really nicely priced (way cheaper than my own neighborhood so I wish something like this was in Forest Hills). For all 3 of us (and my son got a kids pancake entree also), plus my husband and I got coffee, it was $52 incl tip and tax. In my own neighborhood this is sadly impossible, and with not as good brunch too. So I'm a bit envious! I got the Farmer's Hash which had all yummy veggies, steak, avocado, and perfectly fried sunny side up eggs. Coffee was nice and big too. Bathrooms clean and well lit. Friendly service! We will 100% be back and would love to try for lunch / dinner!

Yelp
Just an update for this review.. I'd order from here every so often because I really enjoyed their food initially. I ordered here on July 13, 2025 a turkey burger. And it was great until I bit into a big hard piece of metal in my burger that almost made me think I broke my tooth. I called back to inform them, didn't make a deal out of it because things happen sometimes, and I was informed I'd be refunded within 7-10 business days. As of today it is August 3, 2025 and I still haven't received a refund. I have called several times and still haven't made a huge deal out of it. I just want my $25 back. But after this I won't be returning.

Yelp
Food was pretty tasty. Ordered the grass fed burger and the buffalo chicken sandwich. I'd say the chicken sandwich cost too much to be air fried but that's just me lol. The drinks were tasty as well. Service was pretty good, waiter was attentive. Ambiance was cool for a restaurant in the mall.

Yelp
Oh mine... I was shocked that there's such a health-conscious and nutritious restaurant. Their ingredients are very fresh and high-quality. Their foods are less salt, less sugar and less oil. Bread is homemade. Pizza is sourdough. This is a mother's kitchen. I can taste the natural flavors without heavy seasoning or heavy sauce. After the meal, you wouldn't feel too overwhelmed. It's just the right amount! This is an ideal daily restaurant for athletes and anyone who values health as a lifestyle. Service is very polite and friendly. Quiet, cozy restaurant.

Yelp
he wait here was ridiculously long and when we finally got our food which was about 40min after ordering, it came out cold! We had called over the manager and all he said was "do you want me to send it back?" Lol management is a joke. Not once did he apologize or give a brief explanation about why the food took so long or why it was cold! This was the worst experience I had in a long time at a restaurant. Definitely would not recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
My first time here and it was a pleasant experience. They are located by the Roosevelt Field Mall. They have a separate entrance but it's part of the mall. There's parking obviously but it's busy in general here especially during "rush hours". The separate entrance allows you to not even enter the mall if you're not planning on it. Plenty of seating here and the menu is healthy and they don't have anything that's fried. Service was awesome and our server asked if it was our first time and it was so he walked us thru the menu. Food came out timely and was delicious. I'll have to come back to try other stuff on the menu

Yelp
They had the cutest of shirts! Almost wanted to ask how I can get one ! With that said the service was 10/10 they do modify and accommodate food allergies. Came here w 2 other friends they were Very on top of allergic reactions Even made suggestions And their drinks were 10/10 we had skinny margs, peach mojitos, spicy margaritas & even espressos and vegan matcha latte ! What a great restaurant not first time here but will definitely keep returning.

Yelp
Love it here! Always feel good after leaving because the food is delicious and has healthy options!! Vibes are so great in there! Love the greens We had an awesome meal!! Sooo good & David was a great server!

Nicole D.

Yelp
True Food Kitchen never misses when it comes to fresh, flavorful, and healthy dishes! Everything tastes so clean and well-seasoned you can tell the ingredients are top quality. The atmosphere is bright and relaxed, perfect for a lunch or dinner that actually makes you feel good afterward. Our server David was amazing, super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and made great recommendations. He made the whole experience even better. Definitely 10/10 service!
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
I've been here twice and there's a reason why I gave it four stars instead of five. First off, the staff was attentive, nice & helpful both times I went. The second time I was here, everything I ate was very good, I got the True Trio lunch special which came with a main dish, a side & a beverage. The grilled chicken ranch wrap, organic tuscan kale salad & pink dragonfruit lemonade was the perfect clean meal I was craving. When I went last year, I went for the happy hour, the drink I had was very good, but the chicken sandwich I had ordered was definitely not worth the $15 that it cost. I think they may have changed this specific item since because it now comes on ciabatta, but when I had it, it came on a burger bun and honestly reminded me of an overpriced McChicken.

Andre P.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Jonny B.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience and my waiter was even better. David the waiter is the nicest person and every meal he suggested was perfect.

Prashant G.

Yelp
David was great! Food was fresh and delicious. Perfect portions, clean, and quick service.
google avatar

Alysha J.

Yelp
The waitress Ashley was phenomenal for our table of 6. The edamame dumplings were great. The entree I ordered was different. The gluten free cheese wasn't my thing and threw the taste and the flavor off. I would avoid ordering this. The ambiance was nice. High ceilings and inviting entry with maximum sunlight. I would go again just not order this. This is my second time here I lived my first meal but could not recall what it was.
google avatar

Dillan S.

Yelp
The speed, food, quality, and service were fantastic, and the restaurant itself was visually appealing. I'm definitely coming back.

Yelp
Great service and food! David was really nice and helped us out! I will be back! Food taste great!

Yelp
- resturant was clean and spacious - we were seated and food came quickly on a Saturday around 515pm - some items were a bit pricey - had many great vegan and vegetarian options - overall good service - took one star off because the shrimp was a bit salty to my liking

Yelp
We liked the food at True Food kitchen, it was light and tasted delicious. Definitely as promoted by them. We tried the burger and grilled chicken salad. We also took a side of sweet potato French fries and they were good with the sauce dip. I wanted to try Pizza, have heard really good about them. I went second time to try the classic Margherita pizza...and it was so good. Delicious!

Yelp
This restaurant is attached to Roosevelt Field mall. Parking is easy, inside of restaurant is attractive. Our group ordered some grass fed burgers, roasted cauliflower with tahini and a poke bowl. Food was okay, portion pretty small on the poke bowl. It was a "healthy " style restaurant with calorie counts for every dish. Overall it was pretty good, but I probably would go elsewhere next time.

Yelp
I was looking for a burger night as I was traveling through the city. True food kitchen came up as "All in one menu" for me. I really enjoyed the burger. our server was Brian was nice & caring. They deliver a not a quality French fries but they quickly replaced it with a better one. The manager was also very attentive

Yelp
The food and drinks are delicious and appeared to be very healthy. The ambiance is pleasant, fresh and clean with bright green seats and live plants . The service fell short in my experience. We ordered three meals and one appetizer.. My meal came out first and long before anyone else's . Since I got the ancient grains bowls, I knew it would be at its peak taste while still warm., however, I felt guilty to begin eating by myself since I knew everyone was hungry, so I waited and waited for the other people's meals to come out. Finally, the kid meal came out, followed by the last adult meal . While we were well into our meals , the appetizer finally arrived to our table. After we finish eating our lunch, we were offered a dresser menus by our waiter and we said yes of course! Was craving some cake not sure if they have that on the menu cause I never saw it. . We waited patiently for what was like an eternity. Finally our waiter reappeared and bought us the check instead.. making no mention of dessert or saying he forgot the menu or even apologizing for ignoring us for such a long time. At that point, I just accepted the bill, paid and left with the intention of getting dessert elsewhere. The 3 stars are because it was of my first time there and the service left a lot to be desired.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
Our first time here, (with a 3 year old) Great service- Imani, our waitress, made great recommendations and was very attentive. We got the sourdough pizza, kids noodles, burger, and a chopped salad. The two drinks were phenomenal- a hangover one and an OG. Everything was delicious and fresh. Def coming back!

Yelp
Loved this place. The food is fresh, healthy and not greasy, which I appreciate. For starters, I had the hummus with homemade pita which was yummy. I have to remind myself to take more pics of the food before devouring it, but the hummus was so yummy that I genuinely forgot. For entree, I had the turkey burger and I liked that it had kale salad as a side. Thought I'd miss the usual French fry side-but this tasted way better and my stomach thanked me for not feeling too weighed down afterwards. Drinks were also pretty good. The OG Drop and Prickly Pear refresher are a must try! Overall, this is a great place for healthy and delicious tasting food and drinks.

Mark K.

Yelp
The worst pieces of meat I've ever been served. If you can call it that. It's best to take it off the menu. Or turn it into hamburger meat. It was all silver skin and fat. I couldn't believe it. Other than that it's ok. Nothing special but it was definitely over priced. Place looks nice but I'm kinda over that minimalistic look. There are much better options for the price.

Yelp
I came here on Saturday with my mom and brother To start off they ordered all of our stuff in one shot so I wasn't use to that Next we waited fourty minutes just for our drinks and appetizers we almost left Next our dinner they didn't come back around to give us utensils or to check on us we had to flag down two different server from our own just for basic needs She never asked us for refills again we had to tell the server On top of all this she checked on us once in the beginning and once at the end and at the end I had to flag her down for the dessert menu Then dessert she gave my brother the carrot cake which wasn't vegan that was supposed to be for my mom My dessert told her to take the whip cream off because I'm allergic to coconut and she didn't I had to ask her twice until she finally did it This was not worth spending 160$ We almost got up and left twice On top of all of this she put us next to the kitchen when we asked the host and her for a quiet spot really upset and annoyed The host was awful his name was Johnathan and our server was awful her name was Elizabeth I don't mind paying my bill which I did and the saving grace was the food that was really good I WILL NOT COME BACK! What was supposed to be a birthday celebration tradition was awful we will find somewhere else to eat and on top of everything they didn't even sing happy birthday for my brother and mom when I put it in the comments

leidy s.

Yelp
Food was amazing but I was dining alone and they threw out my food without my knowledge. The matcha was okay.

Yelp
Love shareables!! The food was unique, pleasantly plated, taste buds approved, and fresh ingredients. I could've ate at least 2 more plates of edamame dumplings that were perfectly cooked in this savory broth. The service was great until it got real busy. The place was very aesthetically pleasing giving off the fresh and clean ingredient vibes.

Yelp
We come here often and our server Dave is friendly and attentive. Food is always consistent with simple ingredients and great flavors.

Yelp
This place could use a better employee training. Staff who commands us to get her at the counter to pay. A whole bunch of unbelievable attitude by one staff.

Yelp
As always a great meal at True Food Kitchen. Food is always fresh prepared well and they are known for using the healthiest ingredients. Great staff from management to our server Lizz who made sure she checked on us.

Yelp
2.5 stars, visited on a Sunday evening. Not very busy at all, lackluster everything but based on the overall rating it seems I may be in the minority! We had the meatloaf sliders, hummus, margherita pizza and brussel sprouts. Everything was edible but not a single bite I would go back for. Service could have been better, waters unfilled. We mentioned we were sharing things, it would have been nice to know there were only 2 sliders in the order given there were 3 of us at the table, also the 2 bite slider has the smallest square of meatloaf in it, most of it is mushrooms and onion. Expensive for the amount and flavor received. I don't think any of us will be back.
google avatar

Selen A.

Yelp
Great food! Delicious burgers. We ordered the mushroom pizza and was great to share. Our server Liz was attentive and helpful!

Yelp
I went with my son because he wanted to try the place. On a Saturday seating is quick with no wait and the place is very nice and extremely clean which I appreciate. And the service WAS EXCELLENT... did I say excellent? My only qualm is that the portion sizes were small so for a $50 brunch bill felt a bit much. Would I go back? Maybe

Yelp
This place is so yummy. All the food is so tasty and so fresh. The service is great and the restaurant feels nice and new. It is a very big space. We really enjoyed our lunch here!

Yelp
I never knew this place existed until I met up with a new friend. She really liked this place and thought I would too. Which I do now. It's on the healthy side, which I love. I got a kale salad without croutons and it was very delicious. my friend had an allergy watch. She told the server and they worked around it. The manager even came up to us and said if we had any questions or concerns, we can tell her which was great considering the fact that this is the first time I've ever experienced this in a while. It's a modern restaurant which I do like. They have the bar right in front of the kitchen, which is nice because it kind of hides it. The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs/cooks cooking. I do love the fact that it's an open floor plan and you can see the whole restaurant. It is attached to the mall so you can either exit parking lot or exit out through the mall in case you need to do some shopping or waste some time. I do like the fact that we don't need to dress up to go into this place. it's more of a casual restaurant than anything. Definitely will be coming back here.

Yelp
This place was a nice choice, walked past it many times and finally decided to go in. The place is well decorated and kept very clean. As soon as we entered, we were approached and helped by the host, who had us seated promptly ,we were greeted by our waitress Korinn. She was great, friendly, and attentive . We ordered the air fried Cauliflower, and it was good. That was followed by the Grass Fed Burger and the Spicy Korean Sandwich, both good choices. We were very happy with the whole experience.
