Best U-Pick Orchards and Fruit Farms Near Portland

"Comice pears, Italian plums, and apple varieties including Pinova, Pink Lady, and Granny Smith fill this verdant Salem-based orchard. If bringing food from home, look out for the picnic tables that dot True North. For a seasonally appropriate beverage, seek out the charming general store or cider wagon to sip fresh-pressed apple cider." - Rachel Pinsky

The wife, Husky, and I had a wonderful time exploring the grounds. We felt welcome immediately upon entry and can't wait to go back! We came late in the season for Fuji apples, so they were a scavenger hunt. However, I had never picked grapes before; they were plentiful and delicious. What a delightful experience! The owners were also super kind and incredible salespeople. What is usually a once a year trip might turn into a regular adventure. Traveling from downtown Salem was super easy. Cannot recommend enough!!!

We had an amazing time during our inaugural visit to this charming local orchard managed by a husband-and-wife duo. The owners were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They offer a delightful selection of apples, grapes, local honey, freshly squeezed grape juice, and apple cider. Be sure to sample the sparkling juice and cider—it's a must-try! Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

We stopped to grab some amazing pumpkin honey here at True North Orchards and ended up getting Carrot Honey, Blackberry Honey, and trying their new product “Sparkling Apple Cider.” Everything was so amazing! Especially the cider. It was like Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider only better!! It actually tasted like fresh apples! We will be back!

True North is a lovely little farm. We enjoyed an afternoon there with a grumpy toddler in tow and the owners were still friendly with us. They are very welcoming. We picked plums, honeycrisp apples and fresh eggs. All were reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend and will be back soon!

Late review, I was there during their upick apple season and they have really good pinovas to pick (as recommended by the owner for apple pie for thanksgiving! ) and great unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider. The owner took great lengths to preserve the frozen apple cider for the trip across the cascades to back home. I will be back for next year.

I can’t say enough about this adorable little orchard. The couple who own it are friendly and knowledgeable. They hosted a field trip for an after school program I run, and my kiddos loved it. I’ve been there personally as well, and loved that it wasn’t super crowded like a lot of fall orchards and pumpkin patches.

This orchard is beautiful and has delicious honey crisp apples as well as other tasty varieties. The owners are very kind and helpful and my husband and I really enjoyed the experience as it was our first time Apple picking together. Thank you True North Orchards! 🍎🍏😋

Paul and Dianne gave our group an amazing experience! It was a cold Fall afternoon and they had built a campfire to keep us warm during the apple cider pressing demonstration. Both were very informative and obviously love what they do! Thank you True North Orchards!

Yelp
Proof that (FB) marketing works! Here for an unusual Father's Day gift, I responded to an ad for Sarracenia Hybrid Carnivorous Pitcher Plants. These beautiful and exotic perennials feed on flies, mosquitoes, gnats, and most other flying bugs. Each plants consumes hundreds of bugs each season. Several varieties in pre potted in 4" pots single crown Pots $15, double crown pots $25. Easy to find, right outside of Salem off of Silverton Rd. They also have cherry trees and other U-Pick options. I was met as soon as I parked and got to see how they're grown and chose the ones I wanted. Pretty cool alternative to the standard dad tie. Check their website for seasonal activities. I'll be back!
