A good brewery in the area ! Loved the options and choices of beers they offer. Ideal for people who love IPA beers. Personal favorite is garden a must try hoppy and haze. The food options are limited but can bring your food here. Should try if you are a beer lover. Have new beers every couple of weeks

Google
Very comfortable atmosphere. The brews they had available were all pretty good. The stout wasn't as strong as I typically prefer, but it had some good flavors to it. I ended up taking home a growler of it. The location is easy to find, and there's plenty of board and card games available to play. Food trucks will be available in the coming weeks with a rotation of tastes, and I'm looking forward to that. Overall, an enjoyable place that I'll be visiting often.

Google
This place is ok if you live locally, but I wouldn’t travel far for it. Over a quarter of the beers are unavailable for flights. The beers themselves were okay, but I’ve tried other breweries that were better in my eyes. I’m not sure if I just made a bad selection, which is why I’m still giving 4 stars. The atmosphere is decent. I like the decorations on the wall and how you could see the tanks; it adds a nice touch to the dining room.

A nice cross selection of beers to suit all tastes, with some unique brews. The plunge was my favorite of the two flights I had. Kid friendly and busy but not crowded when I visited. Definitely worth a visit when you are in the area.

I went here a few months ago for the first time. It was a beautiful day and packed. The inside space is large and lots of room to sit including bar seating. There was a large draft menu to choose from. The staff was nice but it was busy so they weren’t very chatty. I did not like how the staff did not explain that the live music I heard was in the back and how to access it. They pretty much acted as if it didn’t exist. There was a huge shaded tent out back and even a pour station. There was a decent amount of to go beer too which I like to see in breweries.

Google
What’s wrong with this place? Nothing!! the staff is great, very friendly, helpful and just all around great people. The beer selection is fantastic too. If you want to just chill and have a brew this is it. Mike drop!

This place looks to be HUGE in the MD craft beer scene. They had 5 beers when I stopped in, so they are still ramping up. Looks like they will be running 12+ taps when they get to full production. The place is still a little rough around the edges but the beer was great as well as the servers. My favorite is the Grisette Vin Blanc today. They also had another Grisette, a New England IPA, a Stout, and a collaboration beer with Saints Row. All very good. Can't wait to taste all the great beer they will be pumping out soon.

Google
Excellent customer service. We were served our beer in a fashion that took in to account how each beer would compliment the following beer we drank. This brewery understands the importance of providing customers with knowledge not commonly known about craft beer. Every sample of beer in the flight was exceptional. Personally I prefer the “Bobcat” over all others. This is a place worth making a drive to if you’re not close by.

Yelp
The brewery was well lit and had a lot of seating areas to hangout, despite being quite busy. I love how they have different types of food trucks to stop by there as well. There are a wide variety of beers, and I really like how they have seasonal ones as well. I've tried multiple beers and I've loved them all. The flavors are well developed and the atmosphere of the place is great and relaxing. Hope to go there some time during a trivia night, despite probably being horrible at it.

Yelp
Great craft brewery in Rockville. They have a very diverse beer selection on tap and their products are now showing up in restaurants and local beer/wine stores. You can definitely find a few beers that you like here! On certain nights, they will have a food truck parked in front for munchies! Also, they do a great beer and chocolate tasting online every month. Four beers and four chocolates - best done with a friend!

Yelp
(4) ~ very good overall brewery...located behind an office building. Note: Steeze Burger is usually there one day a week. Get the Double = (4.75) Great! & recently Voted DC's best cheeseburger (2023). He mixes in Bone Marrow;) My one wish would be to add Toppings like Sunny Egg; Avocado; Tomato & Mustard. It would be a (5) out of (5) then. MENU: ** Water (tap) = 4.25 Very good, must be filtered;) ** 1/2 & 1/2 (Scrum and Hooker + Fast Limes of Respite High) = (4) very refreshing * Fast Limes at Respite High = (3.75) Good Lime Sour * Scrum & Hooker = (3.5) good English Brown Ale.

Yelp
Still a great venue. NICK and JOSH are great. They give great drink recommendations and quick to serve. Casual and relaxing place to spend a Thursday night learning random things during trivia.

Yelp
The location of this spot really gives me chortles, being surrounded by these unrelated things, like services and a FedEx haha. I was walking from across the street with a friend and it just felt so random stumbling upon it like we did. There was some tents and we saw a bunch of people sitting outside in the shade and drinking pints. We went up the stairs and into the building... turns out we entered through the back where the magic happens, oops LOL! We walked to the front and got ourselves seated. There are plenty of long tables, short tables and a loungey area for you and your friends. I went up and chose from their selection of IPAs, ciders, etc. on their screen. I don't remember the name, but I enjoyed the one I had! I need to start taking notes of these good beers as I expand my horizon... it's because I mainly taste whatever the person I'm with is having haha. All in all, the place is really cozy and the wall has some cool decor that breaks down the beer creation process. I'll go back when I have more time to spend there!

Yelp
I have a bright spot on draft, the first draft of the day. I'm gonna miss this place, Sorry to see them go

Yelp
Came for their November Maker's Market and had a great time! Tons of vendors were set up in the lot and there were a few food trucks on deck, too. It was really cold and windy the day of the market, but there was some indoor seating. The indoor area is a little cramped and not as well laid out as other breweries I've been to. The women's restroom was also a weird layout and nowhere to queue due to the tight space. The brews we had were pretty good and it was nice that they had some beers outside at the beer stand. Really enjoyed the PSL stout and Peeled Cranberry.

Yelp
The craft brewery adventures take me to True Respite! For this brewery I only had the opportunity to try one of their beers and perhaps I should have tried more but one was really all that time allowed. For this brewery Steven and I had the Boss. A double IPA in the New England style. As I have said before I've found myself to be pretty picky with New England IPA's and feel like the best ones I've had thus far come from the New England area. Though I imagine as time continues to pass that will probably change. The Boss was by no means a poorly made beer but it wasn't at least through my craft beer adventures a very memorable one and that's what I'm really looking for.

Yelp
Take this review for what it is, I feel that I have no right writing about a Brewing Company when I don't normally drink alcohol. So this will be short because I tried one drink and I loved it. If you're not a lover of the taste of beer (Me!), try the passion fruit mango hard seltzer. It was fruity and refreshing. Nice location though you kind of need to know it was there as it's tucked away in an office location. Plenty of parking. The place was quiet for a weeknight. Spacious and plenty of tables and chairs. It seems bringing your own food was okay as they do not sell food. I'm wondering if they would partner with another local small business by allowing them to sell their baked goods. Another suggestion would be having a shelf of simple snack items such as chips and crackers for purchase.

Yelp
Great brewery in an unexpected location! My husband and I tried their Pumpkin Spice Latte stout which was so good that we had to get a couple of cans. The taproom is pretty spacious. While they don't serve food, they usually have food trucks if you're looking for a bite to eat. Check out the event calendar on their website or their Instagram to see what food truck is around.

Yelp
Since my last review, the owner has been in contact with me and has assured me it was rare something like that happens. Bailey really is wonderful. Since then I've attended some of their events and each one has been amazing. Looking forward to the Oktoberfest this week!
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Some tasty beer here! I tried both the bright spot IPA and the week away Hazy IPA and enjoyed both. Plenty of seating available and from what I hear there's always a food truck hanging out if you want to grab a bite to eat while you're having a drink with friends! I'll have to come back and try the rest of the line up!

Yelp
I discovered True Respite Brewing Company via their Facebook event: Mardi Gras Celebration & Bottle Release. The brewery is hidden in an industrial area. The brewery had a nice variety of beers. It was cool that also sell cans of Red Shedman Traditional Hard Cider and Apple Pie and Ice Cream Hard Apple Cider. My boyfriend was looking forward to buying a 4-pack of Irish Eyes Red Ale but when we arrived we found that it was sold out, only had it on draught, but will make a reappearance on March 12th. If we had known this, we would have taken rideshare instead of driving there. It was nice that I was able to taste the Hurricane, a cocktail inspired imperial fruited sour ale conditioned on rum soaked oak staves, prior to purchasing a bottle of it. It was sweet, tart, fruity, and tropical. If you don't want to buy a 4-pack of one kind of beer, they allow you to buy two cans of two types of beer to create a 4-pack. I got two Puckered: Peach Cobbler Skweeze and two Puckered Cherry Cobbler Skweeze. Both of these flavors were thick, sweet, fruity, and spiced with cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Between the other two flavors, I liked the Cherry Cobbler more than the Peach Cobbler. I'm not sure if they will bring back their previous Puckered flavors of Blackberry Ginger, Blueberry Blackberry Raspberry, Cherry Vanilla Cream, Coconut Strawberry Banana, Double Strawberry Shortcake, Extra Guavalier, Key Lime Banana Vanilla, Passionfruit Orange Guava, and The Dawn Wall because I'd love to try them all.

Yelp
Just good beer with no pretense. The White Tail is the best local Hefeweizen you'll find if you're sick of hoppy wannabes. Really good beer.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
We truly love this brewery. They have at least 16 beers on tap that rotate pretty frequently. We come a lot and are always able to try something new. A little bit of everything for everyone's tastes
google avatar

Yelp
Seriously good beer and quite the variety! Even during COVID it is still worth making the drive to pick up the brews here instead of stopping by a generic beer and wine shop. When I came here for the first time I split 2 flights with my husband and we loved everything we tried. One of my favorites is the hazelnut mocha latte stout! He really likes the red ale. Flights are reasonably priced. We have been getting crowlers to go lately and they run about $10 each. They have brewery tours here if interested and if you want to come chill with friends they got lots of board games and even some video games to play.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
I've been to True Respite (in the before times) and recently did a Girl Scout cookies and beer pairing virtually via the Craft Beer Seller, who has been great about organizing virtual events during the pandemic. Their beer ranges from fine/good to excellent. I feel like you really can't go wrong with anything they brew. The dunkelweizen and hazy IPA were my favorites, and I highly recommend sampling a few if you have the opportunity! The owner clearly is very passionate about his beer. He kind of phoned in the pairings (he hadn't even tried them before the event) so I don't know that I'd necessarily pay to hear him talk about his beer again, but I'd sure as heck drink it!
google avatar

Patrice Z.

Yelp
Damn good beer. I tried a flight with a stout and 3 sour beer and I LOVED everything I tried. The place is easy to find, yes it is located in a strip mall. A hidden gem that is clean, friendly and makes seriously good brews. Uber-Eats had no difficulty hiding this location to drop food off. They have video games and other board games for patrons to play. Brewer tours available for $20 There are couches and wooden chairs to sit (had no trouble finding a place to sit) also high tables if the others get crowded. Seriously, everything on their beer menu was delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Who doesn't like a local brewery that brings in other local businesses to cross promote and pollinate??? They offered yoga classes here this summer and i hope they bring them back at least monthly...it is so fun to do yoga in a rand location like the backroom of a brewery. Your admittance to class allows you a free beer (or wine) afterwards! And you can BYOFood so you can have hummus and chips or order from the food truck after class. The brewery itself is pretty high tech with large TV screens that list their brews and their high octane brews! All of the staff is super helpful and not too bad on the eyes (not that that's important but...) It is in an industrial area which is the only downfall..would love to have tables and activities outside but overall a great place to chill!

Yelp
If you are a craft beer fan and you are local to the Rockville area, why haven't you been here yet?! There are several beers here that are staples on the beer list, but I love how the brewers are constantly coming up with creative new beers on a regular basis. A group of people with different beer palates can each find a style they will like. Plenty of solid IPAs, sours, browns, stouts. Some beers are better than others, but all in all excellent beers. You can get full pours, taster pours, and flights. You can take pre-canned beer home with you. You can find True Respite beer in 4 packs in beers stores around MoCo (that sell craft beer, that is). As others have stated, there is no food offered, but you can BYO or order delivery. The place is kid friendly. The spot is laid back and open feeling. It can get crowded, but I've never had a problem getting a place to sit. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. I've been to most of the breweries in the area. Each have their pluses. True Respite just seems to stay at the top of my list.

Yelp
Good beer. Clean building. Good service. Not so great prices. They had one beer at $6, the rest were $6.50 or $7. If you're paying $6.50, you're gonna end up over $7 for one beer with tax. Gets spendy quick. Very nice spot. While the building itself is somewhat tucked away, the inside is very well kept, bright, and clean. You can see into the brewing space and they have some cool art on the opposite wall in the main space. Lots of windows, which I always like. After all, windows mean light and transparency. Would recommend the "Week Away IPA." One of the best beers I've had in a while. The "Westward Ho!" is also very good. A delicious, classic IPA.
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
The IPA I ordered 'Your So Vain' was very hazy and citrus oriented - my favorite of the 4 I sampled. The Cherry Cobbler sour was excellent (only in cans), located back in a business park easy parking outside. Half pours were offered but little too pricy so I didn't try as many and only had the one IPA pint!

Yelp
I came here not knowing what to expect. I'm a fan of craft beer and breweries, so I wanted to go through all of the ones in Maryland. Up until the day we went, I never heard anything about True Respite. We parked our car and could see the entire brewery through the windows. It looked kind of like a seminar was going on or a class, so we almost left. I walked in and found out they were doing trivia night. One thing led to another, and next thing ya know, we're 3 beers in and on the 3rd round of trivia. Had a blast. Spacious area, nice vibe, clean bathrooms, and extremely friendly staff. Beer selection was really good and it was a pretty decent variety. They also had food from Baronessa, an Italian restaurant from down the street, for sale. Would definitely come back and recommend anyone who likes craft brew to try it.

Yelp
In plaza so lots of parking which is alway nice had a two flights with my wife great variety and nice view if the brewery itself. Definitely recommend

Yelp
There are breweries closer to our house but True Respite has become our go-to. Most importantly; great beer. While I haven't adored every one, it's clear their brewers are top notch and enjoy making unique and lovely beers. I like the tap room and the staff are always welcoming. Family friendly and we love when there's a food truck.

Yelp
Been wanting to visit since opening! True Respite is a place to relax, enjoy the delicious beer selections, the music and the company. Great vibes and the beer is awesome, some of the best I've had. Can't wait to visit again and I'm so excited they are shipping me a 24 case so I can have it back in Denver!

Yelp
It has been three years since I last reviewed True Respite and in that time I have visited many times. True Respite's beer has only improved over the years and they always have a tasty draft list with many options. The staff and owners continue to be friendly and the newer outdoor seating tent and ability to order via Biermi for table service is great. While my older review mentioned the pricing and lack of tax in the price (and that hasn't changed) the other establishments in the area are now comparable. Overall, True Respite is a great place to grab a beer and my friends and family will continue to visit.

Yelp
Located a little bit away from Rockville Pike/Hungerford Drive in a light industrial/office park. Plenty of parking, lots of seating. Very spacious interior with full view of the actual brewery/tanks. Large tables, small tables, comfy chairs with small tables made of logs - really good indoor space. The beer is excellent. They offer flights of four beers, which is nice because they have a lot of beers on tap and many places for some reason don't offer flights. We ended up having three flights, and tasted all but two of the beers! (Excluding the non-alcoholic offerings and varieties available in cans only.) Some are obviously better than others - we really liked the hazy IPA, the tangerine sour, and the pineapple vanilla sour - but everything was good, and none of them had any off or unpleasant notes. They were all very clean, crisp, very good flavors. They have a lot of fruited varieties, and the IPAs are very hoppy and complex but not too bitter. The selection should please lots of different palates. One more note - the wood boards that hold the flight glasses are awesome. They have legs so that when you put them down, the board doesn't angle and fall down. The glasses are really secure. Nice touch. Will definitely come back and try those last two, and bring home some cans too!

Yelp
We were asked to meet a few friends at True Respite yesterday, and we are so glad they invited us. The beer here is incredible! They have a wide variety, and everything we tried was great. Our friends are IPA drinkers and were very happy with everything they ordered. We had the Peeled: Guavalier, Peeled: The Dawn Wall, and High Tail Hefeweizen, which were also awesome. This brewery also is doing an awesome job to make guests feel safe with social distancing protocols. Our table was far enough away from others, and we felt good about sitting inside for the first time since all the COVID-19 measures were put into place. We will definitely be visiting True Respite again when we are in the area.

Shannon H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great outdoor space to host a corporate event or fun party you should consider this awesome brewery! Steve Moore and all their staff are amazing. I hosted a surprise party for my husband's 40th birthday in their private outdoor tent and it couldn't have gone more perfectly. Steve is extremely thoughtful about the experience of his guests and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. The beer is great too!

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
True Respite has a good variety of beer, so there's something for everyone. Most of them are very good, too. The space isn't huge, but it's nice. They have a larger outdoor area in the back if the weather is nice. In addition to good beer, they also host some fun events, like craft/maker markets and classes. They don't serve food, but they usually have a food truck.
google avatar

Lara H.

Yelp
My husband and I came here to try out a sampler. Unfortunately they ran out of the only IPA on their menu just as we walked in, so my husband didn't care for any of the options. I tend to enjoy lower IBU beers (hefeweizens, wheat beers and such) so was quite pleased with the options and the unique flavors. + The staff was very attentive and friendly + Family friendly atmosphere - Ultra sleek space didn't help muffle any of the chatter of other guests, so it was a bit loud - No outdoor space

Yelp
Conveniently located close to Lake Needwood, my boyfriend and I wandered into True Respite after a nice stroll around the lake. True Respite hasn't been around very long, but for a young brewery, it certainly looks like it has a lot of potential! It's not located in the most obvious place, but with Google maps, you'll find it. There's plenty of parking too. It wasn't too busy when we visited--granted, it was a Sunday afternoon. My boyfriend ordered a flight of 4 beers. Depending on which ones you choose, a flight can be between $10-15. I ordered a Kombucha since I can't have beer (gluten). They have Blue Ridge Kombucha, a local kombucha, in bottles only. They rotate different brews around pretty frequently so I imagine it changes from week to week. The inside space was nice--like any small craft brewery, it's located in a warehouse setting, so nothing really fancy. There was plenty of seating and also board games on the side. It's pretty kid-friendly, it seemed as I saw parents with children. The best part was going on a short tour of the brewery. You can simply just ask the bartender or one of the staff for a tour, and if they're not too busy, you can go on a quick tour in the back. I believe our "tour guide"'s name was David. He was so enthusiastic about showing us around and was so knowledgeable in the art of brewing--it was truly awe-inspiring and impressive. Although we spent a little under an hour here, I got a pretty good sense of the great staff and amazing potential this establishment has in the future. Definitely looking forward to another visit! :)
google avatar

Colin S.

Yelp
Typically I get beer that is the "wild" flavors as they say but most beers have even the slightest taste of what the flavor is suppose to be this beer taste like shit not even a slight taste of waffles or blue berry trash like come on
google avatar

Natasha S.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Ample space, looks really cool on the inside and apparently they have an outdoor area as well. I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and finally went this week when they had their $3 draft special and i was able to try a lot of brews I havent before. I first got introduced to this brewery by going to downtown crown beer and wine. True respite beers are always on point. We sometimes buy a 4 pack if we really like it from DTC. The service at true respite brewery was great. Everyone was really nice and attentive. The location is a little hidden so better use that GPS and youll be able to find it. There is a lot of parking. They do not sell food or snacks but you can bring you own or order in (uber eats, doordash etc.). I also heard they have food trucks on the weekend. I cant wait to go back!
google avatar

Samantha R.

Yelp
Excellent beer for a new brewery. Love the Dawn Wall (ET what whaaat) and Guavalier. Grisettes are good too. Keep up the good work true respite! Pro tip: bring your own snax
google avatar

Amanda V.

Yelp
This is our go-to brewery here. Love the beer. The guys behind the counter are super friendly. Super chill down to earth place amidst a pretentious fast-paced city.
google avatar

Arthur S.

Yelp
My go to style are ales and pale ales but I must say the Alpin Haus stout stood out as the star. In my opinion it is light in body for the style of beer but the flavor profile is fantastic. The Grisette Vin Blanc tastes exactly like its description, "white wine character in its finish". If you enjoy white wine this is a must try.
google avatar

Sara E.

Yelp
I havent been to their brewery yet, but A+ for the beer I tried at a local event recently! The strawberry lemonade sour (at least I think it was strawberry) tasted like dessert. I wasn't in the mood for a beer, but wow! I finished off my cup, no problem. I now need to visit the brewery to try more of their summer flavors!
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Yes, this place is literally next to Child Protective Services which is a little off in terms of the vibe. Very random place to be but I'm sure they got a good price on rent. The place has good tasting beers though they have a lot of sours and IPAs without much variety in between. If you are a big fan of sours you'll be in heaven. Huge space with a lot of seating. It's never too crowded which is nice. I've seen kids every time I've been there but I guess probably because they were having celebratory beers after Visiting CPS. Good beers chill spot
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
Ended up here on Easter weekend to get a quick break from family. The vibe in this spot is incredibly laid back and chill, while the staff are knowledgeable and the beer is tasty. As I'm becoming something of a connoisseur of the Maryland craft brewery scene, what stood out to me about True Respite is that not only do the team take evident pride in their brews, the brewery space itself is quite a bit more welcoming than that of others in the area, like Seven Locks. Don't get me wrong, I love their stuff, but it's nice to have properly finished bathrooms and signs up about upcoming events. True Respite is running an event for Father's Day and I just might take my dad to it. Also neat that they clearly partner with local small businesses and give back as they can--always happy to support that, especially if I can do so while drinking great beer!
google avatar

Casey E.

Yelp
This place has a cool ambience. It's located in a business complex which is unusual but hey I suppose that fits the name of the business because it's a Respite from work Beers were awesome and priced well. Will be returning due to the awesome staff and cool brews
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
What a great addition to the Maryland craft beer scene. True Respite provides excellent beer and a fun space to enjoy it in. We stopped in for a quick flight before a dinner reservation (which turned into two quick flights, we couldn't decide what to try!) and enjoyed the beers quite a bit. The alpin haus and the marvin were delicious. My husband enjoyed the IPAs he tried (I'm sure they were good). The space was nice, with multiple TVs, different kinds of seating, gaming consoles, board games. While still not being too polished, with unfinished floors and windows into the brewery. A great space! I took a quick look at their events board and I wish we lived just a little closer. Beer and Zumba? Mac and cheese cook off? Yes please!
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about these folks. The beer is always delicious. I ordered some through biermi.com, which is awesome and I think some members of their team are responsible for, and got the pickup times mixed up. Even though I was two hours early, they still took care of me and I was able to drive home with those cold, delicious brews. Thanks y'all! Cheers!

Yelp
True Respite is one of the few legitimate breweries in the area. The inside is top notch and gives you a great, clean brewery feel. I had some beers I liked, some beers I loved, and some beers I didn't care for, but that's the charm of "variety". It's nice having a great brewery within a less than 15 minute drive from my house. It has without a doubt become mine and my friends go-to hangout spot and for good reason. The only thing that would make this place better is if they made it dog friendly!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite breweries in the area. I first tried their beer at a beer event and it was my favorite one. First time I came here was for their 5th Tuesday of the month beer special which you can get beers for $3. I tried a variety of beers on flights and mini samplers. They have a large variety of beers on tap. All so good! Staff are very friendly and helpful in making decisions. The brewery has a good amount of seating. No food, but you can bring your own.

Yelp
This is a fun place to go for their different events. They have a rotating menu of on tap beers which cater to many different tastes. Although they don't serve food many fantastic places will deliver including some of my favorites like Crossroads BBQ, Pizza CS NY and Dulcinea Bar and Grill.

Yelp
Visited here with friends. I enjoyed a flight of four beers while my friends each enjoyed a pint. It was a lively Friday afternoon crowd. No food - I understand a food truck is usually there but none today. Beer was very good.
