True Texas Tacos

We love TTT!! All the ladies working in there are so nice and the tacos are bomb. My 8yo son is obssed with the bean and cheese! The barbacoa is actually my favorite. It’s great. The price can’t be beat either! You can see how clean everything is and it’s all fresh and delicious. As far as a gas station taco goes, these are the best! But PLEASE KEEP STOCK OF FRESH CILANTRO 🌿!!! They never have any and it kills the vibe slightly.

Wow, HEB got breakfast tacos? Yes they do, and they’re really good. See pictures. True Texas Tacos is in the little HEB gas station out in front of the parking lot. It’s *not* in the True Texas BBQ drive thru connected to the main grocery store. I hope HEB does this at other locations in the future. Recommended

I need to mention this work appreciation and recognize the work and dedication of these valuable women in preparing each meal. Melissa, the manager, and her great team: Jenny, Madison, Sam, Tiffany, Rocio, Veronica, Sara, Jackeline, etc. All of you make up this great group of hard-working women, so I give True Texas Tacos ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ golden stars❗ Simply delicious, OMG How we enjoy them, but need to mention all the salsas they have, they are tasty. LOVE THESE TACOS! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they’re not putting the stickers anymore, so we basically have to open all of them to figure out which one belongs to each of us.

The gas station is very nice and clean. I like their warm ready to eat breakfast. It looks better than QT's and I am a fan of QT for being a gas station. The empanada was delicious as well as the breakfast taquito however their tacos where not as good to me. I like authentic tortillas and these did not taste as authentic and soft. I would still come back but not for their tacos. The orange turmeric Agua Fresca is definitely worth coming back for too 😋 I will have to come back to try the Non breakfast items like the freshly made pizza.

We've been coming here every Tuesday for almost 1 year. The tacos are always good and the food has never been cold.

Updated Review Despite a several-month hiatus, I revisited your establishment hoping for improved ordering methods, specifically an alternative to the unhygienic petri dish of a kiosk. Unfortunately, the petri dish of a kiosk remains the sole option for purchase. My attempt to use it was met with frustration: after finally locating the desired tacos, I encountered a rigid limit of two hot sauces, regardless of the taco quantity, with no apparent way to purchase additional. The checkout process furthered my dissatisfaction. It also demands both a name (no big deal) and a phone number (why). I am unwilling to provide my phone number, anticipating its sale to telemarketers or its use for unsolicited calls and texts. Your cost-saving, profit-driven petri dish of a kiosk system contradicts any claim that this information is not for monetary gain. While I can only assume the food quality has declined alongside these changes since I am sure you cut staffing, I will never know for certain. This visit represented my final opportunity for your establishment to rectify its shortcomings, and it has failed spectacularly. I walked in, only to discover you’ve axed human service entirely, forcing customers into a dystopian maze of three cramped, kiosks—your so-called “progress.” No lines, no guidance, just pure chaos as confused patrons fumbled around like lab rats. When I asked an employee if this was permanent, they shrugged—no apology, no help. But the real horror came next. As I waited (forever!) for a kiosk, the person ahead of me wiped their snotty nose and then smeared their germs all over the grimy touchscreen. Disgusting! Do you even pretend to clean these petri dishes? Spoiler: You don’t. I can only guess at what risk comes from touching those plague festering screens. Congratulations—you’ve managed to turn a quick taco run into a biohazard experiment. I was a loyal customer, but consider this relationship terminated. I’ll gladly take my money to your competitors, where I’m not subjected to third-world hygiene standards and operational incompetence. Shame on you for prioritizing cost-cutting over basic decency. I will be avoiding this germ-ridden circus at all costs.

When they say Texas they mean it, these taco would put mexico to shame. They are sub par and provide a disappointing experience. The flower tortillas are made fresh but still taste worse then the cheapest factory made ones. The meats in the tacos just seem to be flavorless imitations of what they are supposed to be. In a city that prides itself of breakfast tacos its a wonder this place is still open at such low quality.

This is what has become of what used to be a great taco joint, more than likely my last visit to this location. Better off just closing this place down and just serve pizza. Extremely disappointing!!!!!

Everybody likes a deal, esp. when food costs are getting higher as with everything. I usually make a Protein Shake after my AM workouts & sometimes a sandwich or snack as I cool down. I didn't today so I remembered about the $0.99 egg & potato Monday breakfast taco deal! I bought 4 & waited probably about 10 minutes. It started to get busy & a line was forming so glad I got a head start. I took photos of the menu & enclosed donut/pastry area. Adjacent to the service counter is a cooler with ice cream & frozen alcoholic smoothie drink packages for $2.49/$2.69. Hmmm...I'll have to remember that for convenient poolside drinks! I placed some Green Salsa to go in the little plastic condiment container at the self-serve Salsa Bar. They had Pico de Gallo & Red Salsa as well. Order was hot & ready & the flour tortilla was nice & tender. It says you can opt for Corn Tortillas but I always crave flour in my breakfast tacos. I've never had any of the Specialty Tacos but will keep it in mind. They also serve the South Flo pizzas so sign up for text messages to get coupon deals!

Food was very good and tasty but price rather steep. I would recommend for sure. Meat was moist & tender and their BBQ sauce was great. Sides on point.

I really, really, really wanted this to be great. HEB (IMHO) did a great job on the brisket project taking time to understand the culture and the cooking methods. That fell short on the tacos. High Points: - The bean and cheese was a favorite - The sausage wrap was good (not very taco-like but good) - The prices are amazing and maybe too cheap? - Nice job on the potatoes in the potato and egg taco. - The red sauce (orange?) is more like enchilada sauce and should be used on an array of tacos for added fun. Good stuff. - Tacos are all labeled so you don't have to open them up for your friends to see what is hidden in the foil. Low Points: - What's up with the tortillas? They were rubbery even though they are made right there in front of you. The ones inside the store (uncooked) are actually much better. These didn't have much flavor at all. Need to work on that. Good texture but something isn't right. Someone's grandmother needs to do some consulting. - The Carne Guisada has way too much chili powder. It should be a balance of flavors and not one overwhelming taste. More green peppers would help. - The brisket used is chopped up too fine and tends to be hard and dry. It's the same stuff you have in the store not 500 feet away and it is wonderful. - The pico was flavorless even though it had a ton of peppers and nice looking ingredients. - Both the chicken and beef fajitas lacked seasoning. The meat was of good quality but it just lacked flavor. Go ahead and commit to flavor HEB. Service was great, people were friendly, prices averaged $2.00 per taco and you get free drinks depending on how many tacos you buy. Keep working on it - we love to love HEB!

ordered 4 tacos and 4 salsas and only got two salsas and they weren't even filled halfway like damn bring back the salsa cart I'll do it myself

we've gotten tacos here off and on since they opened. from my experiences the quality has been on a steady decline. although i appreciate a GOOD tortilla, im not too picky about them usually. but all 3 of my tacos today (around noon on a tuesday) were really not good. thick, chewy and rubbery. if these were HEB tortillas, NOT convincing me to buy their brand with these. i dont know if they had been reheated, were old or what. and i realize food prices have gone up, sausage & egg tacos were $2.69. not bad, but they were SKINNY; hardly any filling. up the price if you need to, but please give me something other than an inedible tortilla with a spoonful of filling for my $$$. construction workers were filing in, usually an indication of a good place for tacos. but i didnt find that today. also, not sure if they were out or have cut back on avail salsas - they had 3 with several empty spaces on the salsa bar. too many spots near me for good tacos, not sure if i'll try em again.

Great place to grab delicious tacos. It is located inside the HEB Fuel convenience store. Buy two tacos and get a free fountain drink. The Barbacoa was Slap Yo Momma Good !!!

True Texas Tacos by HEB are a good option for solid breakfast tacos. I've had the egg/bacon strip, country sausage/egg, sausage/egg, carne guisada, bean and cheese/bacon. Tortillas are fresh and homemade. Portions are good for the price.

Tacos are always great! And so are the wonderful ladies who work there! They're so welcoming and kind every single time I go!

The best people and the best food in the most unsuspecting place you would ever think. Hands down the best breakfast tacos in San Antonio. They are always Super fast even though the tacos are handmade they get out the orders super fast and everything is so fresh, super fresh and everything there is so clean all the time which is one of the many reasons I come back multiple times a week

Four-star gas station tacos? Apparently HEB does things pretty darn well - and that extends to a pretty impressive selection of gas station tacos. The prices aren't great, but everything is fresh and quite good. It's a great spot for breakfast tacos, but make sure you try the brisket taco as well - it's pretty heckin awesome. They have a good salsa bar with a variety of fixings. Everything is kept clean and fresh. Basically, the high standard you'd expect from HEB. My only complaint is that you can't get tacos after 2pm.

I seriously don't even know why I would put it past H-E-B to not think of EVERYTHING! These tacos are so so delicious and fresh and the staff is very nice!! I went so often that one guy knew me by name!! The salsa bar is clean and the salsas are fresh! PLUS, you are in a gas station that has everything that you could possibly need besides yummy delicious tacos!! I travel 75% of my week for work so stopping here for food and gas is so convenient! You have to stop here!!

Quick stop for some breakfast tacos and a fountain drink Dr Pepper. Nothing says Texas like H‑E‑B and tacos. Great concept here in this convenience store and even better tacos with the best flour tortillas!

Usually they are really good when it comes to small orders, but I have paid for things I didn't get before and today I ordered 2 tacos and I didn't get the bacon in the taco like I paid for. It was sadly just a bean and cheese taco without the $1.79 piece of bacon.

I will be back for more of those carne guisada tacos!! Delicious. I can't believe I've driven past this place a million times. Wish they were open past 2pm!

I don't know if it's because I'm pregnant or because they truly are, but these are the best bacon and egg tacos ever!!! My husband and I come here all the time, it seems this is the only food we agree on now. It's super fast and always fresh! Try it out. Nom nom.

Surprising find inside a HEB gas station! I had a Piccadillo taco and a carne asado taco. The tortillas were fresh. Great taste for such a low price; but that's normal for H-E-B! Love H-E-B!

Overpriced for what you get. Any add-ons cost. Beans - $.50, Guac $.79, Cheese $.59.. So '$2.79' beef fajita taco is really $4.67 with extras. The meat was ok but there are plenty of places to get great tacos in SA. I won't be going back.

I'm sorry I don't know how this place has high ratings. First time here great service but tacos not any good. Carne guisda smelled and tasted bad. Bean and cheese no flavor, barbacoa was the best one but only cause it was probably so greasy. Will try again when in the area but drove here cuz it had good ratings then finally noticed there's only seven reviews.

I feel obligated to say something. Me nd my family tacos and south flo pizza too much and almost every time i go there I see one of three people working Salena, Sam, Yuri are always happy, Salena is always quick and super nice she takes care of customers and treat me and them like loyalty. Yuri lets just say wow she remembers my name every time and I still don't know if that's good or bad cause I go there to much. she always has the biggest smile and is full of joy I love her personality. Lets get to the juice Sam is not human he is happy and joyful, he helps every customer and is so nice to the other people he is working with. most of the time I go in there he is cleaning and I'm shocked that a guy can clean as well as he does I need to see if he can clean my house. He is amazing and like I said no affiance but he is a sweet happy joyful chubby guy. if anyone goes here for tacos or pizza you can see what I'm talking about these three people are what make this place live and full of positive vibes.
