The Ultimate Guide to Boba in Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley

"Truedan originally started at the famous Shilin Night Market in Taiwan and now has franchise locations in the U.S. It is famous for its signature brown sugar drink made with fresh milk and brown sugar boba. The brown sugar coating is layered along the bottom of the cup and up and down the sides of the cup. For optimal taste, the drink needs to be mixed until it is blended. There are also variations of the fresh milk series with different toppings like taro and grass jelly. There is also the option to adjust levels of sweetness and ice and to use nondairy substitutes." - Kristie Hang

New boba shop in town, there was a line but wasn’t a long wait. I tried the brown sugar fresh milk, and it was my favorite compared to Tiger Sugar down the street. The staffs were friendly and nice, store was clean, I like that they have milk alternatives for people with lactose intolerant. I would come back to try their other flavor drinks.

Truedan is the boba place that I most frequently visited when I was in Taiwan. Sometimes 2-3 times a week on those hot days. I think that says a lot! I noticed that the menu is slightly different in SoCal, but good thing the flavors were pretty much the same. I really enjoyed the brown sugar drinks with milk, would strongly recommend adding their taro or boba. The oreo brown sugar boba milk was really good too. I really liked the crema they added in the drinks, it tasted so creamy and felt like eating a cup of dessert! One thing I also enjoyed was their mini taro balls, but I don't think they have that in the store yet? Hopefully they will include that in the menu soon. All in all, a legit boba chain from Taiwan to LA. Needless to say, it is a must try!

First time trying this joint, we ordered A1. Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk and A3. Brown Sugar Fresh Milk w/ Taro. The boba had an amazing chewy with soft texture. The staffs were very generous with the boba and Taro. Definitely, will come back again.

Ordered the A1 Brown Sugar with Pearls & Fresh Milk with 50% ice and 50% sugar. This is a very small store that is to-go/takeout oriented which is not a big deal. It's still quite a nicely decorated clean location and the service was very quick for everyone's orders. This plaza is already quite busy but it's a welcome addition anyway, conveniently located next to a hiking trail, supermarket, and the 60 Freeway.

Honestly the best brown sugar boba milk I’ve had. The quality of the mix is just so fresh and well-made. It’s truly a step above other places.

The boba in this store was very inconsistent. My 1st experience was very good. The boba was soft and tasty. The drinks were flavorful. However, when I revisited the store again few weeks later, the drinks remain very consistent. However, the boba was hard and chewy. It's hit or miss.

Soft opening for friends and family was a hit! The word got out and it was packed(free samples). We had no problems the first opening day. I had the best black tea latte with boba! I tried taro as well in the brown sugar milk A3. Both were excellent, rarely do you get taro and grass jelly options, sooo good. I will be a regular customer. I’m sure the crowds will be better with the grand opening coming this week. I can’t wait to go back 😋

We ordered a classic black tea and a jasmine green tea both with boba and without sugar. Both have great flavor. If there is one thing I could suggest is to offer boba WITHOUT brown sugar. The boba make the unsweetened we ordered taste pretty sweet.
