I work at Trulee and the people who live there have genuinely changed my life. The connections I have made are some of the most precious to me and I fall in love with it with every passing day. I’m a student in NYC, and the continued letters, calls, and emails i receive from trulee residents and families makes me feel so special and I can feel the love from across the country!! It really is a community.

My father in law loved it here and so did my family! The facility is clean and very much family oriented. The activities team is amazing and is always coming up with different activities to keep the patients engaged day to day. My absolute favorite activities aide is Krystal she is the sweetest hands down and goes the extra mile. If there was 20 stars to give I would give 10 to Trulee Evanston and 10 to the activities team just because of Krystal. Highly recommended!

We have 10-20 student volunteers come from Northwestern every week to spend time with the residents which we really enjoy. We have worked with Trulee to bring activities/games and brain exercises that are fun and at an appropriate level for different residents. From the first day, we have felt welcomed and encouraged to build relationships with residents. We are grateful that we have this opportunity and have heard positive feedback about this partnership from both our students and the residents we spend time with. The staff is kind and helpful with pairing students and residents together which creates a positive experience for everyone!

Beware of Trulee if end-of-life care is part of your expectation. My mother moved into Trulee last October. We were assured that when the time came, a care plan would be developed that could comfortably fulfill her needs. How mistaken we were. The care she received was both unprofessional and inconsistent. Despite assurances, there was never enough staff to help her when her own care givers were not present. Calls for help to the bathroom were never timely and even went unanswered--resulting in a fall and several cracked ribs in November. She never recovered and went into hospice in late January. Morphine, prescribed every four hours for her comfort, was rarely administered in a timely manner. Many times, it was delivered only after several calls from family or care givers. At one point, we were informed that orders for her morphine had been canceled (they had not). There was a total lack of communication between the nursing staff, hospice, and the physicians, resulting in abysmal care. Watching a loved one die is painful; watching a loved one in unnecessary pain, anxiety and discomfort at the end of life is excruciatingly difficult. *The one star is for the facility; it is pretty.

We hosted a company team outing in the upstairs private space and were TRULEE blown away! My colleagues were questioning "why a senior living facility" but once they saw the beautiful decor and stunning views, they were in. The staff was so accommodating, personable, and kind. We felt very welcomed. Some of us even had a private tour of the building. The general consensus for those of us with aging family members or even facing retirement in the not-so-distant future, SIGN ME UP!

I helped a friend move into Trulee Evanston last November and have been very impressed by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. I have been there on many occasions and have observed many interactions of the staff with the residents. They are very caring and concerned about the well-being of the residents. It seems like a happy and enjoyable place to live.

Trulee is an exceptional home for my mother. She has come alive and this is the happiest and healthiest she's been in years. The PT and OT are exceptional. The activity options are great. The entertainment is also excellent.

My father-in-law was one of the first residents to move into this new building. The team are amazing with him and take such great care of him. Their compassion and thoughtfulness are second-to-none. The place is gorgeous, well cared for and an elevated experience in all ways.

Yelp
My decision to move to Trulee was a good one! Excellence prevails at Trulee-Evanston, the newly-established senior living community located on Ridge Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Vitality abounds in a community designed for both wellness and social engagement. Daily activities include exercise classes and thoughtfully-planned events including guest presentations/performances, current events, documentary discussions, travel talks, board/card games and more. The inviting smells coming from Trulee's kitchen permeate the second-floor dining center. Nutritious meals are served with a culinary flair, enhanced by the company, smiles and laughter of my new friends. As a spirited woman of 78, I continue to celebrate my 21st birthday. I recall over dinner the other evening asking my companions, "What is the secret of longevity?" One response was "attitude," another said, "happiness," the third said "thinking positively." There you have it! I'm surrounded by people who love life and continue to live life well. Genuine caring is demonstrated regularly by both administrative and medical staff. Living life well in an environment of kindness and caring is what Trulee-Evanston is all about. Charlene Blockinger
