REVIEW: Truluck's
698 4th Ave. S, Naples
My Husband asked me where I'd like to go for dinner on Mother's Day and he hadn't even finished the question before I enthusiastically replied "Truluck's, of course!"
There's just something about Truluck's that checks every gastronomic box for me, the minute I walk in I feel happy, and hungry and oh so sophisticated.
We headed to the bar for a pre-dinner drink, where I had my one and only favorite cocktail, a Belvedere Martini. Truluck's Bartenders have seemingly mastered the elusive art of the perfect Martini , including a frosty chilled glass, with tiny ice crystals glistening on the surface, a trio of olives IN the drink to add a touch of brine, and the dirty rocks on the side. Perfect every time!
We finished our drinks and adjourned to the dining room. Dimmed lights, glistening chandeliers, white linens and happy diners celebrating their Mothers in upscale style.
We landed at my favorite seat in the house, one of the leather booths looking out over the whole dining room, and to our delight we were welcomed by our favorite server, the handsome, delightful, and ever so attentive, Mario!
We started with an order of the Parker House rolls, fluffy, buttery, yeasty and delicious.
Next came the appetizer; I don't eat seafood, but my Husband is a fisherman and a huge fan. He started with the seafood medley including six East Coast Oysters with a zippy cocktail sauce and champagne mignonette plus a huge Stone Crab Claw, all nestled on a bed of crushed ice. Incredibly fresh and every morsel was fantastic.
As we began to order, Mario let us know that our super thoughtful daughter had called the Manager and ordered us a surprise Mother's Day gift of a Cold Water Lobster Tail and two flutes of Champagne! What a cool caper!
I ordered the Filet, a gorgeous little flavor bomb, perfectly charred on the outside and covered with a crusty rub of seasonings. The inside was a perfectly cooked, medium rare delight topped with a luscious, creamy au poivre sauce with green and pink peppercorns and a splash of Brandy. My husband had the New York Strip Steak which was equally impressive and just to push it over the top we ordered the roasted mushrooms and some Truffle fries. But wait...there's more! For dessert we accidentally ordered a Crème Brulee and a Cappuccino. An embarrassingly overindulgent meal, but I swear we only hate half of it. We brought the rest home in a lovely Logo doggy- bag with a thank you note attached, hand signed by Chef Jonathan!
So, when you're looking for the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want to feel super fortunate and totally fancy, I highly recommend dining at Truluck's. It's so much more than a fabulous dinner, it's a feeling, an experience, a vibe of elegance wrapped in excellence. Bon Appetit!
