Trump’s Crypto Dinner Is Bananas for So Many Reasons | Eater DC

"A sweepstakes-style gala tonight at the Sterling, Virginia golf course will invite the top 220 holders of $TRUMP meme coin to “meet the president in person,” according to the event page, which reads: “220 Special $TRUMP Meme Coin Holders will be Invited to an unforgettable Gala DINNER with the President on May 22, 2025.” Gates open at 5 p.m. (a tall order during weekday rush hour), and “all guests must be seated in the Ballroom” by 7 p.m.; the Q&A notes “What provisions are there for special dietary requests like Kosher & Vegan options?” and also states, “The event should conclude by 9:30 p.m.” The page touts that “the top-25 coin holders are invited to an “Exclusive Reception before Dinner with YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT!”” and adds: “PLUS, We have separately by us arranged for a Special VIP Tour for you - so make sure you stay in town.” Per the event’s terms and conditions, “travel costs, ground and other transportation, parking, meals, gratuities and incidental hotel expenses are the sole responsibility of verified $TRUMP Gala Dinner recipients.” Since the contest started last month, investors spent around $148 million to secure black-tie seats; additional themed events include a “summer pool bar kickoff adult party” on May 23. The property is described as a luxury course open since 2009, located 26 miles from the White House — about a 40-minute drive without traffic — and as one of 18 international golf clubs branded by the former president since 1999. Its sparkling Presidential Reserve, released right after the 2025 Inauguration for a timely $245.47, is a likely pour tonight. Per the Sterling club’s 10-year executive chef Jim Zambito’s LinkedIn profile, the property has 800 members and pulls in $2 million in annual food sales; dishes include a grilled chicken Caprese sandwich and pineapple hoisin-glazed halibut." - Tierney Plumb

Two different 18-hole golf courses are very nice but private and require membership.

Although I am not a member, I had the privilege of being on this course for the LIV Golf tournament and I thought everything was fantastic. Course was in great condition and everything was great. I'd love to be able to play some day.

Google
Attended The LIV golf tournament May 26 and 27 ,awesome experience, highly recommended attending in the future. Parking services at Dulles mall executed perfectly, nice busses and quick service. The set up was very good, plenty of hospitality tents and restrooms . Easy to navigate and get around. The Pros were all very friendly and approachable, especially Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson, we were able to shake hands and get autographs and plenty of pictures. Only downside on Saturday they ran out of beer on the course with a few rounds to go.

Remarkable staff. Clean entrance hall. Nice Furnishing. Scenic view of the Potomac River. Outside Patio was organized. I would have given 5 stars had more thought been put into the needs of the elderly club members. Requirement: a novel platform to carry elderly/handicapped customers up and down stairs. Elevator is outdated tech. Elderly avoid using traditional elevator Becuz of the stigma associated with “lack of mobility”. An open elevator platform allowing safe stable access to all floors wud be a thoughtful touch (a novel method that would allow seamless transfers between floors) and allow the disabled customer to forget he/she was disabled. The members that hosted me was a cute elderly couple. They showed visible challenges walking short distances. Somewhat dismayed as they were excited to show me the club, but saddened when they couldn’t accompany me up or down the stairs. The adorable couple resorted to pointing me up the flight stairs to tour the upper level of the club and patio while they stood waiting for my return at the foot of the stairs. It’s not how I was raised, the elders/disabled are the center of the family ethos. We carry them where ever they need to go w/o hesitation. These are respectable patriotic club members and deserve the best. What is the current demographic of the clubs membership? How many elderly and/or disabled club members? Looking forward to visiting again and praying for leadership. (Lead from the front, major boost to the clubs image for a nominal investment).

A wonderful course with a stunning river view and very well maintained with exceptional staff. One of the best courses in the DC area and well worth the visit.

Google
Great course in great condition. One of the toughest courses I have played, but enjoyed every minute. The view is incredible too.

Yelp
Beautiful course. Restaurant was good. I got the chicken Marsala with gnocchi. Delicious. Caesar salad prepared traditional style with anchovies. Just how I like it. Good service.

Yelp
I was invited to a private dinner at Trump National's clubhouse restaurant and I was impressed with the variety on the menu. More than just steaks and sandwiches, there were plenty of options. I got the grilled fish with fried rice and broccolini, also got to sample the soba noodles with seared tuna. Tasty, well-seasoned and cooked well, these were impressive plates for a special event. And when it came time for desserts, we got the sundae, a lava cake, and a pan cookie a la mode -- Huge portions! Definitely won't be disappointed if I have to go back for another round of dinner!

Yelp
I'm confused by this club. it's not in or even near Washingto, DC. It should be named the Trump golf club in Deliverance, VA. The facilities haven't been upgraded since it was it was a Xerox conference center that went bankrupt. I can't believe Putin bought this as a birthday Present for Trump.

Yelp
Amazing views of Potomac River from patio of clubhouse. Golf course is in pristine condition, greens roll true, challenging but not difficult. Two golf courses played Riverview Course.

Yelp
My brother almost drown today from the current because this place refused to let him dock on their corse in his kayak. He had the decency to call and ask permission and they told him no. He later lost his kayak, phone, and everything with him and was stuck for hours holding on to a log. At one point was even stuck under water pinned down by his kayak and a log because this place can't treat humans decently. So disappointed that this organization would allow themselves to be bothered to help someone in need when it would've cost them nothing.

Yelp
A coworker who is a member at Trump National DC invited me and a client for a round of golf on the Riverview course. This was a spectacular course overlooking the Potomac river and is truly championship level (it has hosted PGA tournaments in the past). The clubhouse is top notch as you'd expect and was a five star experience through and through. In a perfect world i'd love to be back soon!

Yelp
This review is for only for the tennis facilities at this country club. I was very impressed with the quality of the courts. They have 8 indoor courts with reflective LED lighting which works great. You do not get any of the blindspots you normally get from standard direct lighting systems. These courts have a viewing seating area located on the second level with extra comfortable leather couches. In addition to the indoor courts, there are also several outdoor clay courts, in excellent shape. The club house looks like the lobby of a 5-star hotel, with super comfortable locker rooms and showers. And there is also a bar and cafeteria located on the second floor of the club house. Great place to play.

Yelp
I came here for a friend's wedding and this was an excellent venue as they had golf carts with a driver to shuttle guests to the ceremony area. One change I would like to see would be some cover or shade over the reception area. It was brutally hot on a Sunday afternoon with no cover whatsoever. After the ceremony, there was a cocktail open bar on the upper patio. The views were definitely stunning. The bartenders were friendly and attentive with their drinks. The manager could use some adjustment to his customer service attitude. Many of the guests were crowded against the side of the building for shade which in turn sort of blocked the servers from walking out with finger foods. The way he asked everybody to move and not block the area was a bit condescending, not something you would expect from such a high end establishment talking to their guests. After the cocktail, everybody went upstairs to the main dining room. The view from this level was even better. The dining room was decorated very nicely. The dance floor was kind of small for a venue of this size but for this wedding it was enough as not many people went to the dance floor. The main course, filet mignon and seared bass was fantastic. The servers were prompt were refilling water, serving the food, and collecting the plates. I would definitely consider coming back to enjoy this venue more in the future.

Yelp
Sat for dinner at the bar in the basement: the French onion soup was on the sweeter side, but delicious. Had the blackened shrimp/avocado salad that was a little overdressed but, again, excellent- I'd just recommend getting the dressing on the side. Had a regular coffee for dessert (not the $13 "trump coffee")- it was lousy and tasted like gas station coffee- really the only disappointing thing of the night. The service was exceptional and we really enjoyed ourselves overall. Feels like you're in "trumpland"- a large portion of the decorations were pictures of Donald Trump, which was a little tacky. Felt like a Hard Rock Cafe or something.

Yelp
Attended a wedding - horrible experience. Ballroom was tacky, food was awful, champagne was warm and flat by the time we were finally served. Poor bride and her mother were besides themselves because nothing went as scheduled. Staff didn't seem to care.

Yelp
I may be biased, but one of the best golf clubs in the area! Incredible new tennis facility with both indoor and outdoor courts; a renovated main clubhouse; two golf courses; and they're in the process of updating the pool. The gym also has all the equipment you could want, and it's kept incredibly clean.

Yelp
On September 8th, we had our wedding reception at Trump National Golf Club. It was as close to perfect as you could get! Our guests were in total awe of the beautiful scenery and accommodations. The staff, including the bartenders and servers, were wonderful, working hard and taking quick actions during the event. Things went so smoothly that you barely even noticed they were there. All of the food and Trump wine was delicious! Our event coordinator at Trump National, Sarah Lusk, was like a member of the family, guiding us through the obstacles that accompany any wedding. Her calm, supportive demeanor was instrumental to what only can be described as a flawless reception. She went the extra mile to ensure that everything went without a hitch! I can't imagine that there is any other venue that could compete with Trump National Golf Club for your wedding. If you choose to have your special day there, I guarantee it will be amazing!

Yelp
Great interior. Superior gardens. HORRIBLE service. The level of service offered by staff here could not be overstated. I attended as a guest to a Corporate Event and I was honestly shocked. "Warm" food was served at room temp, some dining wear I used was DIRTY. A fork had food leftover on it in from the last guest. It felt like I was in some kind of training for staff rather than a paid event. Not to mention staff was RUDE. I just asked if I could get a different fork and the bartender scoffed at me. Never EVER going back.

Yelp
Great Golf Club! The course is excellent and the staff fantastic! The course will challenge you and is maintained very well. I'm glad I chose to play here! Amazing round! I'll be back! #MAGA

Yelp
Had dinner at the club on Saturday night. The service was fantastic. the server (an arab dude) was not only accommodating, he may have been the most professional waiter ever. Someone in my party asked for something off-menu and the waiter didn't know what it was. He said "Tell me what it is, and I'll make it for you" and he did! Unfortunately, my halibut was terribly overcooked. So much so, that if i hadn't been dining with 6 other people, I would have sent it back. But what can you do with overcooked fish? They would have had to cook a new one and I would have been holding up the rest of the table. oh well.

Yelp
First rate service and friendly staff. Give him his due. The Trump org knows how to run first rate club.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds. Food was excellent. Lunch on the terrace. Great view of the course.

Yelp
This is the place which Donald Trump recently bought for $18 million and renamed Trump National. He wants to invest heavily in it and compete with Congressional to be the PGA destination in the DC area. I played a round of golf here and I enjoyed it. The staff in the clubhouse were marvellous and replaced some of my missing spikes. The golf course itself ( cannot remember which one of the two I played) was tough and challenging - too tough for me but it did not stop me enjoying it. the Beer girl was hard working and they have a nice little snack shop / booth at the turn which covers you for beers and hot dogs. But the exciting thing about this golf course is the signature holes it has along the river. Probably the only decent Potomac river view holes in the entire length of the river. Langston has a couple of marvellous holes along the Anacostia, but the view is blocked by trees. Likewide Bretton-Woods just across the river in Germantown has some close to the river hold but the C&O canal and the tree line spoil the view. Bretton Woods also has the advantage of being able to hear Great Falls, which for some strange reason - maybe a bend in the river - you can't seem to do from Lowes Island. Anyway, the majestic members of Lowes Island now have the tacky Trump to deal with and you can expect a lot of the focus to be around the River aspect of this golf club.

Yelp
As copied and pasted from my review for Lowes Island...I'm not really sure what the official name is right now. Does Donald Trump have SO much money that he bought THIS place? Like...he couldn't have chosen a better place to stamp his name all over? Come on. This place is in Sterling, VA. They call it "Potomac Falls" though, I'm sure just so they don't need to deal with the stigma of people turning up their noses when finding out it's in close proximity to the scummy areas of Northern VA. I came here to check out the main building as a possible venue for my wedding, which is going to be in 2012. My mom dragged me here. I was instantly turned off when she told me that it was in "Potomac Falls". I went anyway, and the place looked pretty nice driving in. The front entrance of the place looked like a typical resort club. We walk in, and my eyes are drawn to a gorgeous chandelier. The event planner comes out and greets us and takes us upstairs to the "ballroom", though I'd really classify it as more of a plural, since there was a smaller room and a bigger room. The planner showed us where the bride and groom's table typically sits in the divider between the two rooms...except, you couldn't see them from the other room and they can't see into it! SO AWKWARD! That was my turn-off. As soon as I saw the layout of the room, I was done. I don't want my wedding reception to take place in two rooms where I can't see half of my guests. Not to mention the nasty construction that was going on in the back. They are going to be expanding the ballroom and the place is under construction. So the pretty view the place used to have is now cluttered with red dirt and neon orange construction crap everywhere. The event coordinator didn't even know when the construction would be finishing. You mean to tell me that I wasted two hours of my life coming here to be told "we're not sure if the room you want to have your reception in will still be under construction". RUDE. Oh, and she was also unsure about lots of other things having to do with the venue. But she was so quick to tell me what to do with my wedding, as far as invitations and stuff. Uhhh..okay. So yeah. If anyone is looking at this place as a wedding venue between now and 2012...look elsewhere. It's under construction and they don't know when it will be finished. I'm sure the golf course is nice, though.

Yelp
An absolutely lovely venue. Courteous staff. Beautiful setting. Food was great. An excellent value for the dollar. I highly recommend this place. You will love it.

Yelp
Excellent Championship course and very challenging. The clubhouse view was stunning. Pro shops nicely stocked. Our caddys Mark and Bennet did an excellent job and went above and beyond the call of duty. The beverage cart came around multiple times on the course. The views were spectacular enough to numb the heat. Challenging course.

Yelp
My parents have been members of this club (used to be Lowes Island) for years now and I have gone to many events and had our wedding reception here. Trump has done some good things but I honestly loved the club more when it was Lowes. I think some of the things that have been done are excellent (i.e. the course is gorgeous and in great shape and some of the construction done and rennovations were for the best), but there are some downfalls because of Trump. I think I would prefer to give the club a 3.5 but I am closer to a 4 than a 3.5. I would recommend being a member but I just feel like Lowes had a better feel to it in many ways.

Laura B.

Yelp
This is my favorite country club in the entire area. Gorgeous, fabulous facilities, amazing reciprocity relationships nationally and internationally and with lovely staff.

Yelp
I came here for wedding ceremony and reception. The staff was on point the entire time and were well put together. Catering here was delicious. The bartenders made a specialty drink for the wedding, Strawberry Mojitos which were absolutely delicious, if you get that for your reception be sure they make a lot because it will go quickly. One of the highlights of the facility for the ceremony was the platform that had a waterfall underneath it. I thought that was a pretty cool thing to have but it would have been better if there was some way to make the water cleverer because right now that bad boy is brown! This would be a great location for a wedding ceremony, reception or banquet.

Yelp
Played the River course here today. Beautiful course that was in fantastic shape. Saw a few holes of the Championship course near the clubhouse and infamous Trump waterfall and they looked nice too. I know people love to hate the Donald, but I'm a capitalist Republican and if the guy wants to buy struggling courses and turn out gems --- you won't find any criticism here. The closest I'll come is saying the requirement to have a forecaddy for all members before 1pm on the Championship course and for all guests is a little much. Our forecaddy was helpful spotting balls and gave us guidance on a few holes where our green was not obvious in the distance, but completely unnecessary. As for the course itself it was pretty short from the blue tees. Probably would recommend backing up to the black tees for a 10-15 handicap. As you have probably heard Trump whacked all the trees along the river from the old Lowes Island days. This not only gives you a very scenic view of the Potomac, but it lets the wind rip off the river. The wind made some simple holes play quite a bit tougher than then yardage alone. The tees, fairways, rough and traps were perfect. If you've read some of my other course reviews you know I'm a stickler for good traps with sufficient sand. They were perfect here including having a little firmer sand in several of the long fairway waste bunkers. The greens were brisk and had a fair amount of break, but nothing too crazy. We did find far too many big unrepaired ballmarks and spike marks for a country club. Can't explain that one and it's obviously not the groundscrew's fault. I also found it a nice touch that the inside of the cup was spray painted white and there did not appear to be any special event/tournament. Can't wait to go back and try out the Championship course. Hats off to the Donald!

Yelp
Beautiful golf course. Great tee off space and view of the waterfall over the Potomac river. The wedding ceremony was well organized and staff was very helpful.

Yelp
Beautiful Place. However customer service lacks! Reserved this place for my 40th Birthday in Jan back in October. I never heard a follow up call and when I called to follow up they gave the room I reserved to someone else, at the time I reserved they said I didn't need a down payment till the date was closer and they would follow up. Heard nothing! They said they would work with me butt I never heard of any follow up. So I too my business to the 1757 Golf Club which I got a better deal and more importantly awesome service!

Yelp
This club used to be named "Lowes Island," until a certain ostentatious millionaire with a terrible comb over decided to purchase it. I've played the golf course once B.T. (before Trump), and again after. Let me tell you... There have been significant improvements. When Trump purchased it, one of his first initiatives was to cut down 200 trees along the Potomac river. In my profession, I work with many of environmentalists. And in conjunction with them, I was appalled when I heard about the wanton tree demolition. However I've played the golf course since the trees were removed. And I'm not saying that I condone the demolition... but I am saying that I understand why he did it! It opens up views to the potomac river that are truly fabulous. To my knowledge, no other golf course in this area provides a comparable connection to the potomac. In response to MB's post above, I want to clarify that there have been many substantial improvements since 2010. For example while I was in the club house, I witnessed a wedding occur on top of a 35 foot cylindrical waterfall. That's right, ON TOP of the waterfall. Neither the waterfall nor the ceremony deck were there in 2010. They overhauled the kitchen, and renovated the dining room. I believe they constructed a new dining area that opens to the golf course. They renovated the tennis courts. I believe the gym / fitness center is currently under construction. The dude is going to town on the renovation.

Yelp
Ok, I have a opinion about Donald Trump and it's simple as this review. No matter what your opinion is of Mr. Trump he will not disappoint with this venue. The view, the coarse and the banquet area is Amazing! The staff goes way far and above to empress you!. I attended a wedding and it was amazing being held over the waterfall deck overseeing the Potomac River. We were transported to the patio for light finger foods that didn't make it pass the entrance to the patio. The guess overwhelmed the staff and then grabbed drinks overlooking the coarse. We then were moved inside to the main area for the reception and the view overlooking the patio, waterfall onto the Potomac River is one of a kind.

Yelp
In response to Mallory who seems to be looking down her nose from Ashburn like a spoiled child, I will respectfully disagree in whole. Her laughable eyes wide shut to anything that is not Ashburn aside, Trump national is an excellent place for a reception. I can understand that she was not pleased to be there during construction, but a more mature approach would recognize this and simply not review her visit as it was a single moment in time, and, um, the owner was upgrading the facility. Perhaps this is more a Bridezilla biting her affectionate mother. Regardless, here is some truth. The Trump National facility is an excellent facility. It is nested in a very nice upscale community called Lowes Island. The staff at the facility is very easy to work with and the views from the banquet area is stunning, especially as the sun drifts from the summer sky. Now how do I know this? Well, I had my reception at Trump National. The staff did exactly what we asked, and were even kind enough to prepare a 'to go' box as you never get to eat at your own event. The service was top notch. I understand that the early guests witnessed a problem with the cake, as there was a power outage at the bakery, and the team at Trump National aided the baker in finishing the details and setting up the presentation so it was perfect when we entered. The coordinator, having plenty of experience, guided some small touches that made the experience very special. In working with the chef, we created a menu of fresh food that, pardon the pun, trumps more dried chicken and gravy coated beef. We built a experience that allowed our guests to choose from the abundant offerings which came continuously from the kitchen. I can only recommend this venue. Certainly it has to be something that pleases you/your spouse/you occasion, but that is choice. I found the offered review way off base, and potentially even baseless as the opinion was built around nothing at all and certainly not an experience. (Any chance she was at the public course in Sterling Park?)

Jen H.

Yelp
Amazing, amazing. We just had our daughter's wedding here last summer and I had not gotten around to writing a review. The Catering staff is the best, and the golf staff assisted beautifully on the day of the wedding. Superb food and service all around, you really can't find a better location or staff!!

Yelp
always enjoy playing here, tough rough, tough greens, well maintained
