"Welcome to Weho’s lost and found. Trunks is where you go when you lost one friend at the Chase ATM line and the other is still inside the Pavilions that closed a half hour ago. Trunks is tiny, easy to get into, and in the middle of everything, making it the ideal spot to regroup and find your people before heading to the next spot. Also, bartenders here hand out tequila shots like they’re free. And if you flirt with the right server, they might be." - brant cox

Google
Spent my birthday partying at Trunks. My favorite part was the outside patio and the fact that they played all the old school jams like Britany, TLC, Beyonce and all the new songs we love. Danced all night! The drinks were STRONG and worth every dollar.

Google
Love this place. Owners and staff are very friendly. Great vibes and fun music. Highly recommend especially for strong and affordable drinks!

I remember when I used to go-go dance here over 8 years ago. Still love the crowd, amazing bartenders and area!

Google
Came to Trunks as the last bar of our night out. Kinda wished we had just spent the entire night there to begin with. This was one night where they played Beyonce back to back to back a few months after Summer Renaissance came out. I couldn't agree more with the songs choice. The music, people, and ambiance in this bar were unmatched. Out of every club we went to in WeHo, Trunks was my favorite, and the first one I would return to.

Google
I like a gay low-key dive bar vibe. Trevor at the bar is always great 🔥

Google
Went here last Thursday and it was our first and only stop, we were planning to check out the whole strip but the music, drinks and vibe kept us dancing! We went back on Saturday and it was PACKED, still a fun time, music was great, people had amazing energy. It felt good to be at a bar that was playing music for POC. After spending most of the night there we ventured along the strip to find another bar, but the music was way too electro & not giving the same vibe as trunks!

Google
always one of my go-to bars when i’m out in weho. i’ve been a loyal patron for years. if you want a no frills gay bar where you get great service, this place is for you. the bartenders are really friendly, swift to take your order, and professional. the regulars are extremely nice. there’s always a dance party happening to old 00s hits on the weekends. its a really fun place to end the night. the drinks are stiff and not over-priced by west hollywood standards. the atmosphere is a bit divey, in the best way. highly recommend! i’ve always felt safe and welcome here. i’ve never had a problem with pick-pocketers like some other reviewers, but that’s certainly not the bar’s fault… ?

Yelp
Loved it. We had the best time there. Great people, good drinks, dancing, what more could you ask for. We will be back.

Yelp
Recently I visited Trunks and found the ambiance to be quite nice--it's a welcoming and comfortable space that's perfect for hanging out. However, I found the drinks to be just okay. While they weren't bad, they didn't quite stand out either. Overall, if you're looking for a pleasant atmosphere to relax in, Trunks is a good choice, but don't expect the drinks to blow you away.

Yelp
Went for a night out with friends. Had a great time! Music was solid, we were able to dance. Spacing was great, although it was busy we weren't too crammed up. The drinks were definitely drinking(they pour them well). The patio is somewhat small, but enough room if you just want to catch some air. It's a good spot to go hang & dance. I'm a big Pitbull fan, so maybe next time I'll hear a song thrown on lol. There's a parking garage not far too.

Yelp
For old farts like me, WeHo gay bars fall into two categories. On one end are the hangout destination bars like The Abbey (still my favorite, review: https://bit.ly/3Q9PQh3) and now Schmitty's WeHo (a new one for us, review: https://bit.ly/43YQWj7). On the other end are the regroup respite bars like this one. Trunks offered easy access during WeHo Pride when other spots were jam packed. It was an older crowd in here, which meant the level of outward cruising was dialed way down. That translated to the bartenders as well who while clothed appropriately in black tanktops, were not as flirtatious as the ones at destination spots. Honestly, that was fine by Jamie W. and me because we weren't dying to watch sports on the big screens. We just wanted to weigh our options while downing our $14 Mai Tais (photo: https://bit.ly/3Ovh1k7). They were potent as much as they were sweet, so they do mean business here. It's just that it wasn't a place to love and look back with fondness. COCKTAILS - 4 stars...potent tropical libations AMBIANCE - 3 stars...more sports bar than gay bar even with the well toned bartenders SERVICE - 3 stars...a bit indifferent TOTAL - 3 stars...I know which category this bar fits into RELATED - Exploring LA? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2TWT63v

Yelp
Bartender refused to serve me Mario. He wax rude and aggressive, I would go to another bar!

Yelp
Very long over do review. WARNING! CAUTION! WHEN VISITING THIS ESTABLISHEMENT. This happened to me 3 years ago. I had two drinks one round our friend bought. The other a barback had met my ex once before. He brought us over a round of shots. All of us but one person drank tequila. Three out of the 4 were roofied. No one NOTICED at first only I did. I got the group together to leave, and my ex lost his phone inside during the process. As I started walking out, everything started to move sideways. We managed to get outside & by this point, I couldn't walk. My friends boyfriend entered the address for us for an Uber. We had 500 dollars cash, I know I threw up all over myself, and I woke up with a busted face & two broken teeth. We imagine we threw up in the Uber & we paid the guy cash and got us home. Bevause our friend didn't enter the address correctly.

Yelp
Divey bars are full of charm and the one with strong inexpensive drinks definitely has it. Now one of the last bars on the Santa Monica Blvd all-inclusive bar crawl train, Trunks is the chill easy going, often seat filled yet easy to maneuver experience you need. The music is solid, the people are chatty and the bartenders are attentive. The have a front patio attached to the bar as well as one directly across it off the sidewalk before the main entrance with security. You can bring your outside drinks over to this area, but nowhere beyond. There is a dance floor that usually gets a little busy at night as opposed to during the afternoon and day. They show mostly sports or sporting events during the day on the many TVs they have here much like Gym Bar, now on the middle half of the gay bar scene (closer to Hi Tops and across from Beaches, Rocco's etc). Restrooms deep in the back with wall bench seating all along the right wall of the bar. It's a very mixed crowd though nostalgic to an older generation for sure. If you enjoy the comforts of dive chic then march your feet to the beat of this establishment during the week (or weekend). Trunks has the occasional event, usually during a holiday weekend and always the best prices around. Including happy hour from 1 - 8 pm during the weekdays.

Lee W.

Yelp
Trunks charges $8 for a draft beer in the early evening at the same time much nicer close gay bars like Gym Bar or Schmitty's are charging $5. This would not matter if the staff were not rude or the bar was nice inside. I used to like it here and keep giving it chances but they have really gone downhill. Tonight I handed a $20 to a shorter barman that I guess was chest height for him, he rubbed the change up at my face. They act like they are the only gay bar in WeHo, they charge like you have nowhere else to go and they give attitude like you have no choice but to take it. They are none of these things and you have massively better choices. .

Yelp
Had the best time at Trunks this weekend! A friend was visiting from out of town and I had been asking around for a good spot. We walked Santa Monica Blvd and obv its full of bars but we had to find one with that right vibe.. Walked past Motherlode and it looked uncomfortably packed, and an older crowd than what we were looking for. Passed TomTom.. loud music and younger crowd but it more prissy than what we wanted.. Passed Rocco's and that looked like a maybe.. but kept going, and eventually passed Trunks, which I had not heard of or come across in my yelp research beforehand. It was lively but not packed like sardines, a good crowd, nothing fussy, just a relaxed vibe. They were playing 679 by Fetty Wap and I was like okk..Shall we try this place?? We went in and it was just the most chill, easy low key fun vibes ever! The crowd was solidly millennial, and tbh everyone was attractive. The bartenders were cute and personable. I always order my drinks with extra lime and bartenders always just give my a couple extra lime wedges to awkwardly squeeze in myself, making a mess, lime juice everywhere.. this one (and the other bartender that made my second drink) were generous with the likes and the squeezed the limes in themselves so I didn't have to. Which I super appreciated. Smiling, great eye contact, like really acknowledged the customers, not like they were over it/too busy, etc. Went dancing in the back room and didn't leave for 2 and a half hours! My friend and I agreed, the DJ absolutely nailed it. We wanted to find a place that plays pop, or pop throwbacks, or latin (like bad bunny, el alfa, etc) or some hiphop throwbacks and this placed hit all of them! New Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Ariana, Drake.. old Drake, Brandy, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, DMX, Chris Brown, Britney, Xtina Plus they had tons of big TV screens that showed the music videos so it was super nostalgic to have that visual element to totally take you back. I had an absolute blast and could not have asked for a better experience to show my friend a good time on a Friday night. Hope to come back soon!!

Charles S.

Yelp
NEVER COME TO THIS BAR visited 7/19 my partner and i ordered two vodka cocktails each and were roofied. as proven by my trip to the ER that night and a blood test. the drinks were always infront of us so its was in the bottles. busted face and blacked out the rest of the night. for your safety AVOID AT ALL COSTS AND DONT LET UR FRIENDS GO. spread the word, not a gay safe space at all.

Denny A.

Yelp
This used to be part of my playground, it seems like after the pandemic, the customer service declined. The bartender looks so unhappy that he doesn't want to be here or he hates his job Unfriendly af! No smile, no soul. They need to reevaluate their staff.. Bye.

Josh C.

Yelp
Don't come here so this bar tenders such an asshole the one that has earring so anyway so he's did a drink was a all Hawaiian blue and this guy didn't know how to do it and top it off says "ya I know how do to do it and apparently forgot the pineapple juice and apparently said "ohh ya I know how to do it with attitude" and wow not even close all he wanted was tips from the old folks apparently wow this place I would no come here later people !!!!

Young H.

Yelp
I've been here a few times but this two past times I've noticed that Trunks is charging my credit card on one or two drinks that I didn't order or asked for and another time they tipped themselves 40bucks without my consent. WTF!!! I had to dispute with my bank because trunk staff acted stupid when I went back to address this issue. Anyway double check your receipt or take pictures of it so you can dispute additional charges this place adds without telling you.

Vincent B.

Yelp
Enjoyed the bar, excellent drinks and music. My only issue was the music was way too loud. Maybe lowering the music volume would make it more enjoyable to listen to. Thanks

Daniel S.

Yelp
Was there last night . At a certain time they started charging a cover fee which I don't mind . We were already there before they started charging . I had a drink in my hand from there and still wasn't allowed to even use the restroom. We ended up going to Mickys which had no fee and problems . The manager/guy at trunks was very rude. I'ved frequented this place for the past 15 years and I don't think I will set foot here again. The bartenders are amazing though

Joshua P.

Yelp
This place sucks and is only in it for their money I asked for a vodka 7 and they gave me a vodka soda and I ask a server and another bartender for a replacement with the drink being fully intact and they chose to do nothing so I had to drink what I don't ask for

Ryan C.

Yelp
Great little bar off of Santa Monica Blvd that has a no-frills happy hour from 1-8PM, Monday through Friday. What I loved was that there was a lot of outdoor seating, so regardless of your comfort level, you could still find an area that was far away from everyone while still being able to take in all magic that WeHo has around you, and still be able to social distance at the same time. There were quite a few people on a Tuesday afternoon, but our bartender Alexander was bopping around the whole place making sure that orders were being taken and drinks were being served. I went with his recommendation for the Trunks Mule which definitely hit the spot. Served in a copper cup, it wasn't super strong, but you could feel it, and it was quite refreshing on a muggy afternoon. First cocktail out since the pandemic and it didn't disappoint. I'll for sure be back for some coworking and just enjoying the outdoors again soon!

Tony T.

Yelp
Mellow and laidback bar type of place. Definitely with the crowd that goes there as observed after a few visits within this last year. They do play some mainstream music as well as remixes of mainstream music. Their bartenders tend to dress dark clothing/garment and occasionally will go shirtless as the night progresses.

Salvador C.

Yelp
I typically love this place but I went here last night after about a year. I was bar hopping and decided to stop at Trunks for a nightcap but the bouncer would not let me in-I wasn't being obnoxious nor rude I just don't understand why the bouncer would not let me in. This doesn't make any sense to me. I've been a huge supporter of this place. All the bartenders are super nice including the owners but appears to me like the tides have changed. This place use to feel like "Cheers" now it definitely feels like a total stranger. Dismissible almost.

Alexis L.

Yelp
The security here absolutely sucks. Were we're visiting from vegas and got denied from entry for our IDs even though we are both 26!! Told them to scan it or to talk to hire management but then wouldn't. Young arrogant security. Was excited to try this bar. Never again. GET NEW SECURITY

Hans V.

Yelp
Hello! Y'all have a security guy who physically assaulted me when all I wanted to do was check if I had left my phone inside. Literally left scars on my arm because he shoved me on the ground. Will probably never come back again as long as he's around.

Christian R.

Yelp
This place deserves 0 stars because of the security. I've never been told my ID was fake especially being 5 years over the drinking age. The fat security man tried to keep my ID. His scarny buddy was egging him on telling him to keep it. I'm traveling and I need my real ID. They had no authority to hold my ID. Complete unprofessionalism. Do not go here.

Paul L.

Yelp
Avoid on Sunday nights: raucous "ghetto" crowd with violent, assaultive "security" personnel. Suffered a bleeding head wound at hands of "security," lost an $800 pair of glasses with no attempt on part of staff to retrieve same. Not sure, what, if anything, I did, as no explanation was proffered (perhaps I was misidentified). Historically, a pleasant place to visit on weeknights: friendly service, strong cocktails.

John L.

Yelp
We had a perfect WeHo day at Trunks. Very friendly patrons and bartender. We sat on stools at a tall table facing the sidewalk and enjoyed reasonably priced beers while watching handsome men walk by. I don't go out at night much anymore but I would love to see what this place is like later on when younger people than me like to go out. As it is, we had a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon Totally recommended and I would definitely come back

Jesse P.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years. I was actually happily impressed when I went in. I initially went in just to use the restroom. There was a lot of work done since the last time I was there. A great space for a dance floor, the bar was easily accessible and the music that was playing was good. So I stayed for drinks, and I definitely plan on stopping in again my next time in WeHo.

David T.

Yelp
It's been seven years since I came in here and the bartenders are ruder than ever and cold. They only chat with who they know. I didn't expect this and I tried to make conversation. Their attention span dissipates if you're not into them...LOL

Juan G.

Yelp
I use to come here a lot, good place to get drinks since they give you the cheapest strongest drinks but the security is the worst, I was trying to show my friend who has never been here but they denied us at the entrance and the security just being so rude

Miguel T.

Yelp
Servers and bartenders are prejudiced. I'm brown. They were checking in on their white clients much more than they ever did on my group of brown friends. We were there for one hour and were checked in ONCE. If you're a POC be prepared to not be served equally. Guess being an LBTQ doesn't cover equal treatment if you're brown. I went on May 31st 2021 from 9:45pm to 10:50pm.

Allen Williams ..

Yelp
Always a good time a trunks. Great music. Variety of drinks and on busy nights they add bar tenders on the patio and on the dance floor bar to ensure folks are served in a timely manner. This bar is def open to all ethnicities and makes everyone feel welcome. Love the vibes no matter the night !

Jared C.

Yelp
Security is doing their job. I'm here reading all of these negative reviews about security from all these people and oh yeah... I'm sure everyone of you complaining that security was "mean and rude" were sweet and innocent. Go try working a night in their shoes. All the disrespect they get nightly for an hourly wage that is barely above minimum. I'm sure they singled you all out and decided that THAT night was the night to pick on innocent you... give me a break. 3 sides to every story, glad we got to read just the one

Sandra B.

Yelp
Mario!!! Thank you for taking care of us and making sure your customers are happy!! Drinks yummm!! Sexiest on point!!

Francisco V.

Yelp
I had a great time at Trunks my New homie Corey took care of me and my boys. This is a definite must visit bar if you are ever in the area. The atmosphere was electric.

Brian N.

Yelp
I love Trunks! It's one of the best gay bars I've ever encountered. The only thing I dislike about the bar is the bartender, Trevor. He's extremely rude and disrespectful in my opinion. He treated me awful. He said disgusting things to me. The drinks are fantastic. The rest of the staff is superb. I love this place!

Michael T.

Yelp
Service was great even though very busy with only 1 server. He was friendly and very efficient. Good cold glass of Chardonnay for a warm sunny day.

Mike G.

Yelp
The bar itself is on the smaller side and it gets very crowd. The drinks are good and strong! You have been warned. The atmosphere is welcoming and chill. Not as pretentious as the bars down the street. One of the only places to hear hip hop and r&b. No food served, but your sure to have a good time with a group of friends.

Adriana M.

Yelp
Genar is the only reason I would ever come to trunks !! He truly goes above and beyond !! He really gave me the best experience !! I come every weekend just for his amazing energy !! He is truly the Diamond of Trunks without him nothing would be possible. ! Please come and ask for him when you come to trunks !!!

Priscila G.

Yelp
Soooo fun.....great music to dance to...strong drinks...beautiful people to look at...even on a Sunday. Has outdoor space in n the front so cool spot to people watch

Larry M.

Yelp
I've been coming here with my other half for nearly 20 years now- whenever we were on this side of the hill (we live in the valley). We came in last saturday about 530--there were two guys behind the bar. One was delivering drinks to customers at the other end of the bar that he made at the main station...the other guy was emptying the dishwasher, moving glasses into the cooler and not even establishing eye contact with me. Nothing. I was invisible. In a gay bar that for many years has created a space where the 'seasoned' gays could come, relax and get a good drink. This guy kept doing his thing...ignoring me. Eventually, he came to the station and stood their and mumbled something to me. I asked- 'Are you here to wait on me?' he said yes. I ordered the drinks- two vodka 7's for 18 bucks. BTW, there is no happy hours on the weekends. Had my other half not been in the washroom, I wouldn't have stayed there. Shitty service man. I put the two bucks in my pocket. Won't put a dent in your tips for the month tho. If I wanted to be invisible, I'd attend a GOP event. This guy is WAY too comfortable working there.

Agustin D.

Yelp
It's not the vibes... lol came here met a girl me and my bf where talking to her she also was with her friends but apparently some person decided my bf was straight and told him to leave cuz he was invading their space and me and the girl where being loud ... bartender, managers, bouncer didn't do or say anything but we left cuz the guy had a problem with us being loud & my straight bf. Just weird place ...drinks are ok

Stanley L.

Yelp
Really nice bar with plenty of good music and good vibes. Def check it out if you want some positive energy in your life!

Steele E.

Yelp
Went in on Halloween. I understand it's busy so we waited. Now I'm with two Asian friends. Waited patiently for over 20 mins. Being skipped over many times but still waiting understanding it's busy. When my friend was tired of waiting I got in front of her. Now me being white got service immediately, when I asked bartender his name he refused to give it to me. Wow. Such disrespect for my Asian friends. This bar won't ever get my service again. Shame on trunks. The owner should close down if this is acceptable.

Anhelica R.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. I really did. I was so looking forward to coming here after always walking past and hearing good music and a seemingly (but apparently deceptive) fun ambiance. I was really let down. I'm used to being let down because I date in Los Angeles but this was a different type of disappointment. We'll start with the bouncer. He has zero people or social skills and was incredibly rude. He didn't even ID me. Which is half of his job. And I'm way under 35 so that was just a slap in the face and a reminder I'm overdue for Botox. He did however yell at my guy friend for standing up while talking to me. Priorities amirite? Now the server. I was talking and joking around w my friends about a dead hitman. Never said I was a hitman, knew a hitman or was fixin to hire one. It was all joking. The server overheard and says that I am threatening his life and he will not serve me and he feels threatened by me. 1) I'm a lawyer so I'm used to people misconstruing my words but this was just egregious. 2) I am 5'2 and 100 pounds and he was twice my size. He was rude to me all night and did not acknowledge that I was there. Horrible horrible experience. Despite this being the closest bar walking distance from my place, I will never return or bring any of my friends from out of town here. Not even my worst enemy deserves their "hospitality" and "customer service"

Aloura C.

Yelp
The utter disrespect from the security is astounding. My friend was denied at the door while they continued to let others in and they were extremely rude about it. If I could give 0 stars I would. Save your money and take it somewhere it's actually appreciated.

Maria S.

Yelp
I am so happy this place survived the Pandemic! They opened back up a couple of days ago after being closed for 14 months. I live a block away and I have been there several times over the years. It is a great neighborhood bar. It is low key. They have strong drinks and are reasonably priced. The music is always great and the service has always been excellent. I went with a couple of neighbors the day they opened up and will be going again today.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Trunks has the best drinks on the strip unfortunately you're stuck between 80s hit and Beyoncé for entertainment 5 stars for the service and drinks it's just said they can't find a dj to fill the dance floor.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Service and drinks were good, but we bought two rounds and danced for over an hour, then took our drinks outside for air. When we tried to come back in the security wouldn't even let us in to pee! They said we now had to pay to go inside?! Wtf?! We had just paid over $60 in drinks and tips. Either they should notify you when you're walking out that you need a stamp to re-enter when they see you leaving with drinks for the outside seating area or they should check with a bartender to verify you've already paid. Really ruined our Halloween night. Buzz kills!

Ken P.

Yelp
Just stopped by after getting my haircut at "kut". The staff is super nice, the patrons very welcoming. And. Bomb ass happy hour!! $3 domestics. Couple that with the nice patio to people watch and you got a bar that I am coming back 2.

Brian I.

Yelp
Trunks is usually where my friends like to start our night, but it's not where we end it. It's mellow and it's a good place to grab some drinks or, in my case, catch up with my friends who started a bit earlier. In short, drinks are strong. Last time I visited was New Year's Eve, and that was my first time in WeHo on NYE. Generally, Trunks is pretty mellow and it's fun for my friends and me.

John A.

Yelp
Could be a lot better if the bartenders had any personality. Low key place with a large front patio. At least you don't have to wait long to get served. Maybe remind the staff that tips are based on attitude also?
