Denver’s Essential Breweries Right Now, Spring 2023

"Beloved equally for its heavy metal theme and its experimental streak especially with respect to mixed-culture fermentation, this long-standing Baker brewery dares you to knock back the likes of Bloodaxe, a fruity Nordic farmhouse ale with orange peel and grains of paradise; “dank as hell” double IPA Nazareth; blond ale Skullseeker; and the tart yet roasty sour porter Revengeance. Bonus points for appropriately pairing those devilish-sounding pours with spicy eats from onsite purveyor Music City Hot Chicken." - Eater Staff

The Hottest Breweries in Denver Right Now, Winter 2018

"This micro, 3-barrel brewery is brand new on South Broadway, providing constantly rotating taps and a neighborhood vibe, and certainly not pinning itself down to any one flagship or style." - Eater Staff

Not as good as I was hoping.. The staff weren't that friendly and they could barely hear us over the music. The music was heavy, though blasting screaming which made it hard to talk with each other. The decor had an i teresting kind of goth or witch theme going on. Interesting art on the walls. The beer was okay - nothing special or even that unique, besides their flavor names, IMO. The food place in the back seemed more busy than the bar. Proabably won't come back.

Really nice brewery. They host DnD, Magic gathering, and more events. Food looked good. Didn't eat tho. The beer is spot on. Love the local artwork

Visited from out of town and wanted to experience the local metal scene in Denver, of course this was at the top of the list. But honestly we were pretty bummed after our visit, we found the space incredibly underwhelming. The space felt too clean, almost too manicured for what I imagined to be a metal bar. There was so little art on the walls, even the bathrooms had signs that said no graffiti or stickers- which frankly is the complete opposite of any cool bar I've experienced. I believe that a bar space is obviously one that mirrors the community that lives there. To have no art, no presence, no local or touring band stickers or anything, is quite frankly a red flag and very odd. I found this place to be lacking community or connection, and borderline pretentious. It was a cold and empty space, both literally and metaphorically. The bartender felt disconnected and awkward, every interaction I had felt hurried and weird. Only stayed for one beer because it just felt meh. Huge bummer honestly. I hope that when I give this place another shot in the future, there is more presence that has been allowed to grow there.

I absolutely love this place and make sure I visit whenever I'm in Denver. Some of the most unique brews and atmosphere around. Always feels like home. What a rare gem. Godspeed.🖤 🤘🏻🖤

Had the pleasure (or should I say, the angsty delight?) of dining at the most unique chicken and waffle bar I've ever encountered. This place is like stepping into a modern gothic establishment, nice dark and broody atmosphere. The staff, while likely nursing some epic hangovers and sporting perpetually disheveled hair, are probably friendly beneath their tough exteriors and you're not there early. Their snarky comments and eye-rolls only added to the charm of the place. But let's talk about the real star of the show – the food. The chicken was super spicy, like it had a chip on its shoulder, and the waffles were fluffy, crispy, and simply divine. It was like a flavor battle in my mouth, and I couldn't get enough of it. So, if you're in the mood for some deliciously rebellious chicken and waffles and don't mind the angsty metal vibes, this place is an absolute must-try. It's a gastronomic adventure that will leave your taste buds screaming for an encore!

Dark dive bar themed taproom. It had a good selection of beers and additionally food which mostly consisted of greasy fried chicken - you can pick the varying degrees of heat (would not go over “Nashville heat” level IMO). Surprisingly clean restrooms! Had some good music playing. Would definitely consider stopping by again!

The moment you walk in, you know you're at a black metal brewery! The decor is spot on, the names of the beers is thematic (Scorn is my favorite whenever they have it on tap), and the music playing ties it all together. The bartenders have all been very friendly, and it's always nice seeing a place feature local artists. On warmer days you can sit near their front entrance at the bar with the garage door open if you want their beer but aren't in the mood for the atmosphere.

The place has a dark atmosphere, but don't be intimidated. Friendly crowd and bartenders. The beer is good but the real star here is the food, Nashville chicken. I plan to come back again and again for the food.
