Try Coffee - Review - Kaka’ako - Oahu - The Infatuation

"If you’re someone who nerds out about pourover techniques and nano-roasting, prioritize a trip to Try Coffee. The cafe sources their beans from all over the world—and they also have a selection of locally grown teas, plus the usual espresso drinks. But you’re not just here to caffeinate and leave. They also have a gorgeous patio where you can settle in with a book or debrief an eventful weekend with a friend, complete with plenty of seating, umbrellas for shade, and even a chess board." - Julia Chen

Staff was super friendly. I came in to pick up some beans on my way to the airport. Unfortunately because of bad timing, they only had a couple of bags of Manhattan and a handful of Momus beans. Inventory to be restocked though. I picked up 3 bags. The dudes were fun to chat with and knowledgeable. I had a cortado with funky beans by Pirates of Coffee. Ask them for the crazy funky stuff if you’re into it :) Not sure when I’ll be back but can’t wait to visit again next time I’m in town!

Half of the co-working space is open to patrons of the cafe on weekends. The space is nicely lit, quite quiet, and spacious, making it ideal for studying or working. We tried their Ethiopian coffee, Americano, Latte, and Matcha Latte. Everything was delicious, but my favorite is the coffee latte. The service was quick, and everyone was so friendly. The indoor space can get a little chilly. On weekdays, only the lanai is open to cafe patrons. There is a parking garage attached to the strip mall.

Google
This is by far, one of the best coffee shops on the island. The coffee is sourced fresh and the owner is incredibly friendly! Every time I visit this spot, I feel a sense of welcoming and friendship among the baristas. They truly know how to connect with you and their knowledge on coffee science surpasses any other shop. The atmosphere is excellent and its such a great place to unwind and cowork with your friends. If it's raining, the patio can become very limited as the inside space is used for a membership-only coworking space. Overall, this place is a must visit if you are visiting the island. The location is tucked away in a small shopping center, but I promise its worth the visit. FYI - insta worthy balcony photos

Google
A eccentric little coffee shop in ward village. The coffees they have are always unique and flavorful. They have locally produced matcha tea as well. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and takes coffee seriously. They made a “bad” cup one time and remade it before they would give me an inferior coffee to their standards. The interior is spacious with lots of cool little art pieces around. The lanai is really nice with ample seating. Bathrooms are excellent as well. A nice place to grab a world class coffee and relax.

Google
I had a great time drinking my matcha before my flight back home. It's rare to find a nice terrace that isn't on the street. I loved the atmosphere with the plants and couch.

Google
Macadamia nut latte is good, enjoyed the outdoor seating & surrounding plants. Located on the second floor inside Boxjelly.

Google
Great coffee spot tucked inside the Ala Moana Boulevard mall, their views are amazing. Ambience is amazing with plants inside and outside too, if it's plants and coffee--feels like I'm in heaven, this one hits right at that spot. Loved my coffee too, I island brewed bean latte and enjoyed my cuppa. There's lot of seating inside too, but sitting on their deck is the best way to look at the views. Spotted a green lizard too, can't say it's beautiful but the colors on it were amazing.

Google
My favorite coffee spot on Oahu! Rotating espressos keep it interesting with plenty of seating and views. I only wish they served more pastries and stayed open longer! Pretty geckos and plants are plentiful at this definition of chill 🤙🏼

Yelp
Hands down, the best coffee on Oahu. If you're staying in Waikiki, take the 12-minute Uber or walk the 40 minutes it'll take to get there. I guarantee it's good. A couple things you have to keep in mind. Try Coffee is about coffee, not drinks. If you want that lilikoi puff float with sweet and condensed macadamia nut nonsense, then do not come here. That is not coffee. That is sugar. And you're better off at the hotel coffee shop than a place of quality. TK is the owner and is super nice. He's been in the industry for a while and he knows his coffee. If you're nice enough and has time, he'll have a conversation with you and give you a great experience. Daniel is also solid. He makes a great flat white and has been in the food industry for a long time. The rest of the team is just as solid. Super nice and incredibly knowledgeable. Try Coffee has built a staff you don't often find on island. They have rotating beans from coffee shops all over the world. TK had me try one of the most expensive coffees I never thought I would experience from Hydrangea Coffee Roasters based out in Berkeley, CA. It was funky and bright with floral and pineapple notes, along with a slight cognac undertone. Basically, it was a cup that was so complex it made me question my existence. And I can thank Try Coffee for that experience. The outdoor seating is nice, but here in Hawaii it can be brutal, so try to get something with shade. There are a lot of seating options. It's cute. Outdoors. They have plants and they have pop-up shades. It also shares the space with a shared workspace, so a lot of people are having meetings, working, and just hanging out. I've never felt these groups have interrupted my experience, which is what I'm looking for in a coffee shop. Overall, I give Try Coffee 7/5 stars. Anyone that says different can buy me a cup of coffee here and we can discuss your arguments otherwise. You won't win though *wink*

Yelp
I have wanted to "try" this place the last couple of visits. On my last day of my trip, I needed coffee and it seemed like the right time. They are located on the top floor of the Ward Center. They are also in a shared work space. The menu is limited but it has the basics which is great! Nice and simple. Though I always look for a signature drink, so I decided on their mocha latte. Great balance of chocolate and coffee. Some places put too much chocolate and it tastes like chocolate milk...LOL! They have a great outdoor patio to relax or work. I believe the owner was working because he and another customer were talking about coffee beans. He was friendly and very down to earth! Definitely worth coming to! Mahalo Try!

Yelp
Refreshing beverage at Ward Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii... Located on the third level, Try Coffee is an interesting shop. There's a shared workspace area that seems to be for members. Regular customers can sit outside on the patio. I needed air-conditioning, so I sat near the barista/cashier. The barista was very good! When I ordered a non-dairy matcha Latte, she gave me to option of oat or soy milk and asked if I needed sweetener... yes, please! She then asked if I wanted it hot or iced... iced, please She also asked if my order was for here or "to go". I asked if there was a restroom nearby... yes! Okay, I can stay then! My matcha Latte was just right! It wasn't too bitter nor too sweet! I'll be back if I'm in the area again because it was an efficient system with free parking and great menu selections!

Yelp
Finally giving it a try... On this lazy Sunday morning I like a place to relax and just catch up on things and with some places that are filled to capacity I thought to finally go up to Try Coffee and see what I've been missing out on. Located in Ward Center on the second level above the Rodger Dunn Golf sharing space with Box Jelly is where you'll find them but if you're using the elevator to get up here be sure to go up to level three as the levels are for parking and not the shopping area. The vibe here is just so nice and welcoming as I look through the many items on the menu which majority is coffee they do have great tea selections as well as you know I had to give their Matcha Latte a try with Oatmilk and Soy as their alternative choices it was Soy and did find it okay as it was nice and light. Lots of seating area all are outdoors with a slight roof to shade some of the seating which I did manage to find and enjoyed the nice Hawaiian breeze and is nice that I was able to bring outdoor foods to enjoy as well and did so with my Ajitama that I just picked up down the street. It's a shame that they do close early weekends is 3pm and weekdays 1pm as I could see myself getting a lot done since it's such a chill outdoorsy spot not a lot of talking as many are working as well it's sort of a simplistic vibe and nothing better on this Sunday afternoon. Thank you!

Yelp
My coffee buddy Yelp Elite extraordinaire aka Prolific Yelp Elite and recently an All Star designation friend and I met at Try Coffee located at Ward Center. If you park in the structure go up to level 3 A and walk to your far right to find this venue. Their banana bread slice heated up is worth making a stop here, perfectly made with a toasted crispy outer edge, yum! Thankyou for treating me to a large Matcha Latte, Jackie K. Beautiful deep green color with a barista's pretty design added on top was brought to our table with a full on chessboard and pieces already on it. We enjoyed catching up exactly two hours when the speaker began blasting music a few feet from my ear at 12 noon. That was the signal to say au revoir .

Yelp
Finally had the chance to come back to Try Coffee to try more coffee forward things! I decided to get a Cortado and 10/10 chefs kiss. I LOVE the ceramic cups they give you to drink the Cortado out of. It enhances the experience (imo). Anyways, they know what they are doing. The milk was steamed properly and whichever espresso they use works so well! Overall, Love the space, the drinks, and staff! I highly recommend coming here for coffee in town!

Yelp
I had no idea there was a coffee shop here lol it is hidden above fat cheeks. They are a cute place with a huge space to chill and hangout in. The balcony area is sooo spacious. The coffee menu was alright for me, not that much choices to choose from or any signature drinks. You basically put together what you want lol I got an Mac nut coconut iced latte. The drink was good. The service was good. Very friendly.

Yelp
Try Coffee has always been my little go-to spot that feels like a mental hug to get my life admin together. This place that not only serves high standards but also with high quality service in their drinks. There's nothing else that feels better than connecting to community in a place that cultivates personality + productivity :)

Yelp
Since I mostly study at coffee shops I'd say my reviews for the drink and ambiance take up 50-50. With both a cool indoor space and an outdoor patio, Try Coffee was the perfect place to get work done- whether you're on your own or doing a group project. My matcha was okay, it comes unsweetened but you can add a variety of syrups. Matcha wasn't too strong and could have used a little more flavor but then again, this is a coffee shop. I'm sure the coffee is great. Hopefully I'll be back!

Yelp
Checked this place out as a part of my search for the perfect wfh coffee shops. I'm hesitantly giving it a 4/5 and might not come back:( Main reason being there is no wifi and closes quite early (1PM) + Space: The space for the coffee shop is outside patio only, which I didn't mind because the space is very pretty and nice on a good sunny day. There are 1-2 charging plugs. Parking is free at the structure for the building. As mentioned, there is no wifi. The barista is nice. + Drink: I got the Iced Latte and it was 4/5. Slightly watered down taste but the coffee itself is good. Reasonably priced at $6.5. My friend said her black coffee was good.

Yelp
My hubby and I were in the mood to try something new so we Yelped it and came across this place. Because it was early Saturday morning, it was not a problem finding parking. The barista was sweet but I was not overly excited about the menu selection. My better half ordered a Red Eye and I had a mocha with a toasted slice of banana bread. I don't know what I was expecting but having a bag of Miracle Grow plant soil next to the table and other tables with potting-in-progress was okay, I guess. Since it appeared that the barista was the only person working, I really didn't expect much - she was quite busy filling orders. I've got to say that I really enjoyed the slight crunchiness of the banana bread. My hubby and I agreed that the coffee was nothing to write home about. Although my hubby is a dark roast fan, he said that the coffee tasted burnt. As a light roast person, I'm glad that I asked for a mocha - I don't think that could have finished my small drink. Honestly, was a share office space, it seems convenient and great idea to have the coffee bar. But, if you are looking for a more coffee cafe experience I'm sure that there are other choices.

Yelp
Just the best coffee ever. They are passionate about how they source their beans, prepare and grind and don't skimp on quality. Despite all of that, it's very reasonably priced. Love this place !
google avatar

Devona M.

Yelp
The coffee and service were great. However, I was disappointed to learn that there was no wifi after I paid. I asked for the wifi but was told that since it's in a co-working space, the only options were the unusable ward wifi or a $30 day-pass. If I had known this earlier, I wouldn't have come. I'm currently using my hotspot.

Yelp
Try Coffee is home to the cutest and sunniest little terrace and coffee shop located in the heart of Ward Village. The ambiance is always buzzing and it's such a wonderful spot to get some work done or catch up with friends. The coffee and service is exceptional here. You can bring in outside food to enjoy with your drinks. This hidden gem is conjoined with the coworking hub, BoxJelly. This is the perfect place to get your caffeine fix and enjoy the sunshine!

Yelp
Visited Try Coffee once again, and the vibes were immaculate! [Merch] Their merch is high quality, attractive and fairly priced. I love their t-shirts and hoodies. If you buy merch, you get one drink for free! [Drinks] I ordered a black cold brew ($6), and my boyfriend enjoyed an iced matcha latte with whole milk and honey ($0.50). I believe the person who helped us was the owner, TK. Super personable, nice and thoughtful. He asked what type of milk we wanted in our drinks, if any, and was very friendly! He even helped clean up our cups after we finished. My cold brew was juicy/fruity, well-balanced, and straight-up delicious. I drank it black. Not sure if they rotate the type of beans/roast, but I'll definitely get the cold brew again! [Location] Try Coffee is located in Ward. 3rd floor. Parking is free. Restrooms and free WiFi are available. [Customer Service] Everyone is chill and nice, each time I've visited. They work hard and create a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely try TRY coffee. You won't regret it, and you will be back.

Yelp
Place for serious coffee lovers. Matcha/sweet latte drinkers should go elsewhere but if you like interesting flavors in a pourover, come here! Baristas working here are very knowledgeable Outdoor terrace space is filled with comfortable chairs and umbrellas to enjoy the weather and nice views. My fam always comes to drink coffee and read here Looks like there's an indoor shared working space with groups of people meeting Nice bathroom

Yelp
I stopped by Try Coffee, the cafe inside Box Jelly coworking space, and had a pretty good experience. The matcha latte was nice--smooth and not too sweet. The barista was friendly and brought my drink to me. The outdoor patio was a pleasant spot to sit, offering a relaxed vibe to enjoy a break or get some work done. It's a decent place to check out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Best place on the island for specialty coffee. Friendly and social environment with a large lanai to work out of.

Yelp
Great coffee spot tucked inside the Ala Moana Boulevard mall, their views are amazing. Ambience is amazing with plants inside and outside too, if it's plants and coffee--feels like I'm in heaven, this one hits right at that spot. Loved my coffee too, I island brewed bean latte and enjoyed my cuppa. There's lot of seating inside too, but sitting on their deck is the best way to look at the views. Spotted a green lizard too, can't say it's beautiful but the colors on it were amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Stoked there's more than just curb hitting the island in craft coffee as it really is hard to find good coffee anywhere but your home setup imho. Thanks to the guys and gals at TRY. Awesome coffee. Awesome machine setup. QUALITY. A+ - 2 spots worth not throwing out. Curb and now TRY! Hell yeah
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
I ordered a latte at Try. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor area is definitely the better place to sit, as it has a nice ambience. The latte was a pretty good latte - not especially noteworthy but still solid.

Al N.

Yelp
Try is one of the best places on the island to get some of the best specialty coffee out there. Their staff are solid, friendly, and knowledgeable. Always a pleasure to see and talk story with TK and Arielle. It's clear Try is passionate about quality coffee and committed to bringing not only the best beans to the island but also service and innovation with their Try cycle subscription service. From roasting to serving, these guys are the best!

Yelp
Barista/owner is super friendly. The coffee was good. Tons of seating, but I felt awkward sitting inside because everyone was quietly working. Outside did not have a lot of shaded space. Convenient free parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Breezy mostly outdoor morning coffee shop on the 2nd floor of the Ward Shopping Center. follow signs for the BoxJelly co-working space to this little stop. Simple menu, but that means every item is well crafted. I've had their matcha and their latte and both were well made, balanced, with good flavor. Would return. There's a nice lanai filled with light, plants, and a good amount of shade for sitting too. Will return!

Yelp
Great, attentive staff. Had an iced mocha that went well on the bright sunny day. Will be back for sure
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
The barista was nice and honest when I asked about what she recommended. I ended up getting a vanilla latte which was strong and tasty without being overly sweet. I initially asked what matcha she would recommend but she said she wouldn't recommend it personally. There's a discount for Box Jelly users which was a plus.

Ji Eun Y.

Yelp
I ‍ Try coffee it is my favorite spot to loiter. Here is all my amazing matcha they made 4 me

Allie O.

Yelp
Loved this spot! Wanted a calm spot to read and enjoy a coffee. Loved the vibe- tons of spaces to work. I sat outside and had a hot latte. It was delicious and actually super beautiful! The spot was quiet and calm and had a nice playlist that didn't distract but you could still enjoy.

Yelp
"...someday I'll be part of your world." - Little Mermaid Barista: "I'm Ariel and you are?" Eric: "As in Little Mermaid Ariel? I'm Prince Eric, truly!" Ariel: "Awww really? It was meant to be!" It's all about Prince Eric & Ariel! Yes, the early morning barista is named Ariel. The nicest, sweetest, and easy to chat with mermaid I've come across in this lifetime. And Ariel makes the perfect cups of coffee (& matcha tea) with the cutest Latté art! Not only is Ariel an amazing barista but also a wave rider! She surfs too - duh she's a mermaid! So I only see perfection here! I posted a story recently on Instagram on my Disney encounter with Ariel! Try Coffee shared it and boom viral! So glad to support independent coffee shops like Try! Give them a Try! Say hey to Ariel and be amazed... Yours truly, Prince Eric Follow my stories around the world: IG: @eric_travel_guru Shoutout: Big hugs to my bestie Kyra K. for sharing Try Coffee with me which is now in my rotation for remote work while in Honolulu! Update to 5-stars!

Yelp
Coffee and drinks legit suck lol But the ambiance is unbeatable, which is why I think people come. Beautiful interior and exterior patio space, very spacious, with both small and large group tables, never super crowded, tons of free parking, right in the heart of Ward with tons of eateries nearby, a quiet oasis, and free wifi! Love studying here! The workers are very hit or miss. The guys tend to be friendly, but the girls don't even smile or say a word when they deliver the coffee to your table. I'm like "... ok thanks?" But completely agree with previous yelper who said coffee is sour and bitter. Every single beverage I've gotten here has been bad. Either bland like the matcha latte, or sour and bitter coffee. Just think of it as your entry fee to sit here and work lol. They also annoyingly turn off their wifi 15 min before closing. Low key rude because if you're working online, you may lose your work without any warning. They literally don't even tell you they will do so. Unprofessional.

Joyce P.

Yelp
The cortado I had was very good and it came out quick! I chose this spot to try for my random week day off work to read since the photos of the outdoor seating looked so nice. I was unlucky and the only open table had the sun shining hard when the clouds moved and the table was very wobbly so you couldn't lean on it. The place was packed by college study groups and people having meetings. I'd like to come back and try their other coffee drinks and hopefully get a better seat!
google avatar

Jay A.

Yelp
What a fantastic coffee joint. We had a few minutes to kill between meetings, needed a place for coffee where we could do a tad of work. Try Coffee is located within a workspace where you can get work done while you have a drink, maybe have a bite. I had a bread pudding baked in a muffin form. It contained bacon, onions and cheddar. It was delicious. Had a cup of tea as I was overcaffeinated by this time of the day. Sat at a comfortable table protected from the sun yet was able to overlook Honolulu. Does it get any better? They apparently have some of the best coffee on the island. I spoke with a couple of caffeine afficionados while here. The folks working here are very nice. They even have some cool retail items for purchase. Hard to find a more comfortable and/or relaxing place to work. I shall absolutely return.

David L.

Yelp
I have been in Honolulu for two weeks and have tried a different coffee shop almost every day that I have been here. Try Coffee is by far the best coffee I have had. The baristas are very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend Try Coffee if you consider yourself a coffee snob and aren't a huge fan of the darker roasts. The space is really great as well. Lot's of comfortable seating.
google avatar

Vivian K.

Yelp
VERY SIMPLE PLACE Coffee is good, very basic menu Cute location (above Roger Dunn) Not very many seats Only thing that got me... they have NO WiFi Since it's connected to the co-working space, they don't provide wifi & you have to just connect to WardVillage-WiFi... Probably won't be coming back again because of this tho

Yelp
2.5 stars My sister needed to meet me to talk about something important so she suggested Try Coffee in Ward because her manager recommended it. Try Coffee is located on the 3rd floor toward Ewa above the old Kakaako Kitchen. There is shared office space seating inside but for the general public, seating is on the outside in the open air. When you enter, you order then find an open table. The barista will bring you your order when it's ready. If you're getting take out, there is a small seating area right by the register where you can wait for your order. It actually took awhile before getting our drinks but to be fair, they were busy. Make sure to pick your table wisely as it can get hot with the sun or you'll get WET! I arrived first so I ordered for both of us. Got my sister a Genmaicha (hot green tea) and I got their "Try Gardelli" (Chelbessa). We both enjoyed it but what I'm not sure about is if any water from the umbrella got in my drink. While I was sitting on the table, a small bucket worth of water just fell on me and the table. Some water droplets might have gotten in my coffee. My shorts along with shoes were soaked. Hopefully I don't get sick from drinking the coffee. I did mention what happened to the barista but they didn't do anything about it. We ended up moving to a new table to finish our conversation. As we were leaving, I told the person sitting on that specific table what happened and highly suggest he move since he was working on his MacBook. The staff really should have done something. Imagine if that much water fell on his MacBook? Had to knock off stars for that.
google avatar

Jerry X.

Yelp
Situated on the second floor in the same space as a co-working space, we came here on the recommendations for a nice place for coffee and to work. I got the cold brew, and my friends got the potion based on the high praise from the cashier/barista. The potion was by far the better option, while the cold brew had a nice fruity hint that made it that much more enjoyable. Overall a great option for coffee, and one that I would consider coming back to if I needed a place to work.

Yelp
It was nice to finally try Try Coffee! I came on the weekend for a work session with my coworker, and I think I found my new favorite workspace! The drinks are refreshing, the baristas are friendly, and the environment is inviting and serene. Try Coffee is located on the third floor of Ward and inside BoxJelly, a coworking space. The coworking space is spacious, airy, and nicely decorated--with both chairs and tables inside and outside. You order and pay for your drinks at the counter, find a seat, and the baristas will deliver your drinks to you. They have free WiFi available and parking is free at Ward Village. Since I'm not an avid coffee drinker, I ordered a small Iced Matcha Latte with Soy Milk. The barista asked if I wanted my drink sweetened and suggested honey, which I ended up doing. My drink was slightly sweet, refreshing, and nicely balanced. For their iced drinks, they offer both 8oz and 12 oz sizes, while their hot drinks come in one size. Dairy alternatives are available from soy, oat, skim, and whole milk as well as sweeteners. They also offer baked goods. Give Try Coffee a try! Although their drink menu is small, they offer other tea and coffee drinks as well as pastries. It's a perfect place to work, relax with friends, and sip on a drink!
google avatar

Chis N.

Yelp
Got our coffee and found the plastic cap from the oat milk container in it. Service was also super slow.
google avatar

Kyla W.

Yelp
I tried their 12oz ice matcha latte with skim milk, not sweetened. Very reasonable price compare to some other coffee shops. But I won't come back. The drink was alright, but I wish the matcha taste could be stronger, used more matcha powder and matcha to milk ratio should be either 1:1 or 1.5:1. But the quality of matcha powder they use is not the good one, there is no bitterness in it. Probably similar to Starbucks kind? Service was alright, there are lots of regulars because baristas acknowledge them by names. I was paying cash and grabbing coins, then cashier probably think I am slow so she went to make coffee instead and no coming back to collect the cash, then when another barista saw me and ask if I order already. And it took awhile for me to get the drink (around 10 minutes) Medicore drink with okay customer service. Honestly the coffee/drink from farmers market tastes better.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
Try I have such a soft spot for try coffee because it is so comforting and personable. The barista remembered my name when bringing my order (no table numbers or anything just faces to remember) as well as on my way out, which means so much in today's "coffee shop culture". Not to mention the honey latte was such good quality and decent price for the size in today's economy. The counter to order is in a shared space with box jelly, but the outdoor seating is partially covered which allows for the perfect breeze on a nice day. This coffee shop is in such a convenient and cute location right in Ward village. I cannot say enough good things and really admire this business and hope to become a regular!

Yelp
Loved the ambience of the place, as you can see in the pictures , the place is beautiful. The service is great! I do however wish they had more options for drinks and also that they had food. Other than that everything else was fine (:

Maria G.

Yelp
Have come back again and again for their carefully selected beans and a pour over. They never disappoint and every staff member is friendly and knowledgeable on the flavors and origins of the coffees they serve. Wonderful space and concept.

Yelp
Found this gem on yelp and decided to go try it. The cafe is located in Ward Center where there is free parking. I think a lot of cafes on the island are quite small so I was very surprised at how large this cafe was. It looked like you could spend a decent amount of hours here to study without getting kicked out. The ambiance is quiet and peaceful. I particular enjoyed that they also had outdoor seating. I ordered a matcha latte and it was pretty standard. The matcha flavor is present but I wished it was more pronounced. My partner ordered the coffee and it was pretty good but also not the best. In conclusion, I think this would be a great place to catch up with friends and do work at.

Yelp
I've been wanting to ~try~ this place out for a while hehe. They have a pretty simple coffee menu, but have a few syrup flavorings to spice up any drink :) I got an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk ~ It wasn't very strong; I think the oatmilk really overpowered the espresso imo, but still good. Maybe i'll ask for an extra shot next time? hmmm I came on a Friday morning around 11 am & it was pretty chill & quiet with lots of tables open. I loved sitting outdoors on the patio - every seat is in the shade ~ great atmosphere & views! They also bring your drink out to you which is nice!

Located on the second floor of Ward Village. The parking structure is a bit of a crunch, but it wasn't too bad. The view is incredible and the interior is really nice! You can sit indoors or outdoors, your choice. Wasn't in the mood for a hot coffee so we got an iced oat milk latte. Simple, but still really good. The bread pudding was nice a touch. After eating, you just return your dishes in this black tray and go about your day. Really nice spot to study, work, or talk stories :)

Yelp
It's all about the coffee and vibe for me at Try Coffee. Located on the 2nd floor of Ward Center, inside The Box Jelly (a coworking space), this hidden gem is the perfect spot to get away from your house or if you need a little change of scenery. And of course grab some coffee! Menu is pretty limited/small so don't expect an extensive list. They also have some baked goods but at the time we went, they only had one dark chocolate cookie left. I ordered an iced latte w/oat milk and honey and chilled outside on the balcony. Coffee was perfectly made and I'm pretty picky about my coffee. What's great is that it's outdoor and overlooks Ward area. On the weekdays, the Box Jelly is used as a coworking space that you can rent. But on the weekends it is free to use! I can see myself coming back here to get some work done or a coffee date with a friend. The owner?/barista guy was super welcoming and friendly. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Coffee tried. Result, failure. I noticed a few Yelpers post photos and checking in to Try Coffee, and that got me interested. Well, perhaps I'll try again. Try Coffee is located inside Box Jelly, an office/work space for rent place. It's in Ward Village, above the new Roger Dunn Golf Shop. It's not easy to find and get to. Try Coffee is on the second floor. You will see signs hanging from the side above from the parking entrance across Merriman's. There are many 30 minute parking stalls downstairs, so you don't need to drive around and around up the parking structure. From the ground floor parking, you can walk to the middle and take the elevator or escalator up, but I discovered a couple of hidden staircases right before you enter the parking structure. When you arrive, you're asked to stop and scan a QR code to enter your info, but it didn't seem like anyone did that before coming in while I was there. Silly me for following directions and being a caring citizen. The coffee choices at the moment are Papau New Guinea, Peru, and two types of Ethiopia. I chose pour over Papau New Guinea. But it didn't matter what I chose because the coffee was not prepared well at all. It was very weak and under extracted. Not sure if it was due to the coffee grounds being to large or water wasn't hot enough or just not brewed for long enough, but in short, the coffee was sour and watery. Not a good way to start the day! Another issue I had was with the plastic lid, the spout melted a little from the heat and changed shaped to where I couldn't open it correctly and be able to drink from it. Also, the spout was an incredibly small hole that's not suitable for drinking anyway. I hope they switch to something more....user friendly. Other than that, Try Coffee is a nice place to sit and enjoy your drink. It's very open and spacious, and it's open balcony has nice views of all the new condos and future condos in the Ward area. Everywhere is clean and neat. The barista was very friendly, personable, and informative. Very nice guy! He said he'll bring in new, different coffee beans every so often, so it wouldn't be the same coffee from the same regions all the time. Overall, I might be a coffee-snob, but the difference between a well-brewed and a not well-brewed coffee is huge! The coffee missed the mark, and the lid was very subpar, but the service was excellent, the place and environment were comfortable and enjoyable. Definitely a nice place to sit and relax for a bit and enjoy the views of all the condos, and think that not too long ago, none of them existed. I might try Try Coffee again, but perhaps ask to brew it longer or make it stronger.
