We booked this hotel via a third party app. Got a great deal, especially for a Steelers home game weekend. I booked it without checking reviews. I decided to read the reviews the night before we left for Pittsburgh and started to get a little worried. I wanted to write this bc we actually had a great experience and have nothing but good things to say. Yes, the room is super small (we got a king micro room), but it had a cool vibe and worked for us. Bed was comfy. Everything was clean. Yes, the barn door for the bathroom wouldn’t be my first option, but it was ok. Nice waterfall shower head. Do wish there was a fan in the bathroom. Rooftop bar was neat. Great location overall if you’re wanting to hang out in Lawrenceville and/or the Strip District. We did the valet parking and never had to use our car once the 3 day stay. Tons of stuff to see within walking distance. Definitely making this hotel our go to the next time we are in town.

Very clean and updated hotel. Our first room was on smaller side but great big shower. No hand holds though so shelf broke when using it for balance. Front desk staff was fantastic and changed our room as they couldn’t fix during our stay. We were upgraded to handicap room which is very spacious and meets all our needs. Only negative is road noise but it’s to be expected when right on busy road. Front desk has been fantastic about any needs, valet parking staff very nice and fast about getting vehicle. Ok 3 restaurants have wonderful food with great quality food and fast service. Has been a bright spot after being in town for surgery.

Google
There is valet parking of $28+tax (was not expecting that). We’ve stayed at plenty of motels for appointments at Children’s in Pittsburgh, this by far has been our best experience yet. I think we found a new place to stay. They’re pet friendly ($25 per pet, not bad), they have a restaurant/bar and a coffee shop at this motel. Rooms are cozy, clean, and handicapped accessible (great for a young lady who just had knee surgery a month ago). Give this place a chance, and it is a hole in the wall motel so follow gps to a tee.

It seemed so easy, a cheap hotel advertised for 60$ on Google Maps after a search. And yet the number quoted over the phone is different. Why advertise for 60 if it’s really 100? Okay. Whatever I need a room. You can’t park in the parking lot lest you pay, like 40$. Good luck otherwise. No breakfast and you’ll have to chase the attendant to find someone to make a coffee. The rooms are very. Very . Small. Perfect for one. Two people? I’d be stepping all over someone else. It’s down to like, the lights are out in random spots. They want to look so nice but honestly, this is a cheap nasty hotel that will advertise one price and then try and milk you. Avoid !!!

Google
This hotel is pretentious and more expensive than others. The common areas are beautiful but the rooms are small and claustrophobic. There are no extra blankets and the thinnest covers they could find. The king room I booked turned out to have a queen bed, and the sink and shower were In the bedroom, the toilet was a half bath with just a sliding door. Going poo-poo smelled up the whole room. The hotel touts itself as a wedding destination but it's anything but romantic when you have to basically poo in front of your betrothed or your plus one. Every single thing is an upcharge. Parking 28 dollars a night plus mandatory valet fee. early check in online 100 dollars extra charge. A movie? 26-32 dollars per movie in your hotel room. Breakfast is not included and is a la carte - even though the rooms are 175 dollars and up per night. The rooms are just not good. Hard to find light switches, end table only on one side, our bed had metal poking out the side - making it dangerous to get in. No carpeting and no soundproofing with all hard surfaces which amplifies sound from inside and out, the shelving and fixtures are cheap, the tv you have to cast your own services onto it or pay 26 dollars and up for movies, the blankets are thin, the windows are sweating when cold outside, the bathroom is weird, the shower and sink are open into the whole room so zero privacy and the toilet has a sliding door that has gaps so no privacy there either. The restaurant up on the roof is nice but extremely loud. There were about 20-25 people there for a party and they were spread out talking In small groups and you could not hear anything with all the noise. Fron just a few groups talking at once. The bar downstairs didn't. Appear to be open the entire time we were there, breakfast was super expensive and the coffee shop had limited hours. The espressos were the least expensive and most quality of anything there. The selling point was the neighborhood. It's in Lawrenceville which is a great place to hangout, shot, eat, and just enjoy the people. The hotel is in such a nice area. But it really is lacking in so many ways. They need to redo the rooms. Make them larger or make two small ones into a suite. It just needs an overhaul and to change the policies a lot. Stop upcharging for every little thing, include parking and breakfast, upgrade the rooms, and it would be fantastic.

Google
The room was bright and clean and decently sized, but the bathroom door was a sliding door that did NOT latch or lock. The door kept sliding back open while someone was inside, and the gap between the door and the wall was large enough that I could see the bed from inside the bathroom. Extremely poor design. Apparently no microwave available for guest use - the receptionist seemed very confused when I asked. Only valet parking available and the parking lot is extremely small. There was lots of free street parking available in the residential neighbourhood behind the hotel so we did that instead, and it was still pretty convenient.

Google
Staff is always fabulous at this hotel. They have been willing to set a 4am wakeup call when requested at 1am. Valet parking staff helped me with a flat tire & tow once. Hotel is clean, and in a good location. There are two things that would make this hotel better: fridges in the rooms, and a pull-up bar in the gym. Otherwise, can recommend 👍

Google
Lower price is what drove us to stay there while visiting family. Room was very small, worse than New York hotels. My wife and I couldn't walk side by side in the room. I'm not a fan of barn doors for bathrooms. No privacy and besides the door didn't work and it kept sliding open. Bed was comfortable. Assumed we would have service on a day but didn't happen. Have to valet your car, price quite high for Pittsburgh. Hotel was close to where we wanted to go. High point was the made to order breakfast option at the coffee bar. Great service with the food. Would we stay there again? Only if our regural hotels with suite options were not available.

Yelp
TRYP - is centrally located in a very convenient location off Butler Street in Lawrenceville. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were blackout curtains so the room was nice and dark. This hotel had a great breakfast for $11. Eggs, delicious potatoes, sausage, or bacon and sourdough toast. I really enjoyed that and so convenient. This hotel has many events going on all the time and it's set up to host any type of party. I definitely stay here again. People were friendly and helpful. And if you need to walk to a local place to eat a meal, there are many options within five minutes of the hotel. They have a rooftop bar to enjoy as well. Several staff members suggested places to eat or see nearby.

Yelp
Tryp was the perfect place for my one night stay in PGH. It's in one of the most walkable parts of Pittsburgh, Lawrenceville. It is a pretty trendy place. I came during the week for a work trip and the hotel was fully booked. The check-in process was a bit slow with long lines. They have a cafe inside the hotel. I was most looking forward to the rooftop that was supposed to have a great view of the city, however, it was still closed for the season. My room itself was pretty small and good for a one night stay. The bed wasn't the most comfy and all the pillows were very thick. I did love the sheet and blanket they had though! I also adored the bathroom layout. Do know they only have a rain shower head. This room had everything I needed for my quick trip and it's in a fantastic location.

Yelp
This hotel provides a remarkable urban atmosphere and is conveniently located within walking distance of numerous reputable restaurants and bars in Lawrence. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous. It is also dog-friendly, which was quite enjoyable as I observed many dogs in the lobby. Additionally, valet parking services are available. If you don't mind city noises at night this is the place for you

Yelp
Wmee have no connections to the city of Pittsburgh whatsoever. We flew in from TX to see Band of Horses and to explore a new city for my birthday. We really nailed it by choosing to stay at Tryp! The location is perfect and highly walkable. The staff were wonderful and attentive, and the hotel was very clean.

Yelp
Stayed one night this past weekend. We ended up paying almost $300 for our room, but I think there were a lot of games going on during the weekend (NFL, college games, etc) so prices were inflated. The elevators were out of service during our stay. They were routing people to the service elevator which we opted not to try since we were just on the second floor. There are also no refrigerators in the rooms which we thought was an inconvenience when we had some leftovers after dinner. Unsure if you could call and ask for one to be put in your room, but I would think a mini fridge should be pretty standard in a hotel. We weren't expecting the Ritz or anything, but between the elevators being out and the lack of basic amenities, it was overall a meh experience. Centrally located in the Lawrenceville area though, so that aspect was nice being close to the shops and restaurants.

Yelp
While the room was enough for my two-night stay, it was tiny for a longer stay. The work area was about 2 feet deep, and the chair made me scared to sit on it. I found nothing online that stated a $25.00 parking per night fee until I arrived at the hotel and saw the sign. I chose this hotel because it was close to where I was working. I found the water bottle refill station in the gym....it produced about 8oz of water in just over 60 seconds. So take plenty of water with you. I left early in the evening to find food. My car was blocked in, so the valet had to move both to get me mine and ask 'how many times do you plan to use your car because it's annoying to have to move cars around" DUDE, IT IS YOUR FREAKING JOB to move cars around.

Adam G.

Yelp
Service was professional and polite. They should offer self-parking on-site somehow. Elevators are painfully slow. Rooms are tiny for the price - would prefer a slightly elevated price and make some rooms bigger, and have reduced price for smaller rooms. Bathroom door needs repairs - see photos. We needed to use the iron/steamer, but it was gross - see photos.

Emma K.

Yelp
Easy to find & clearly labeled unlike the other spot we spent an hour trying to find. Staff is friendly & the rooms themselves are beautiful! If i come back to Pittsburg, i am coming here.

Christopher M.

Yelp
One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. We were moved four times in one night because each room had serious issues--dirty conditions, broken faucets, and privacy shades that didn't work. It's clear this hotel is poorly maintained. To make matters worse, Chase Martin, the general manager, was completely unprofessional. He refused to return my calls and lied multiple times about issuing a refund. Every time I followed up, I got a different excuse and no resolution. Avoid this place--zero accountability, zero hospitality, and a total waste of time and money.

Rachel O.

Yelp
This hotel is fake nice - a crappy hotel pretending to be a nice hotel. I was here for 8 days. I was charged for valet parking on days when I did not use valet & they illegally taxed the service. They also cleaned the room ZERO times. We did not have the "do not disturb" sign up & no one ever came to clean the room. Daily, I needed to go downstairs to the lobby to get toilet paper, towels, coffee, etc. I was constantly thinking "this hotel doesnt have that." Doesn't have a fridge or microwave. No free parking (only valet for $25 a night), no dresser drawers, no bathroom counter space, no window view (the bottoms of the windows are taller than I am), no comfortable seat in the room. Their marketing director did a great job at making this hotel look great on the photos but everything is very impractical & not worth the cost.

Yelp
The most horrendous hotel staff and management I've ever encountered!!! Hands Down!!! It's sad too because I stayed here quite frequently when I was in town and my friends and colleagues did too, but after the last fiasco here and having to contact corporate and the independent owner of the hotel and still navigating through what happened with my attorney I'll never stay here again and nobody I know will either. Horrible people work here. Yeah, the location is cool like everything else in Lawrenceville and the hotel in general is nice but that's about it. The employees we encountered have zero respect! That's all I can say until we have our day in court.
google avatar

Andrew I.

Yelp
In my room, there is a loud buzzing noise every few minutes. It wouldn't be so bad if the noise was continuous, but because it happens irregularly, it keeps me awake most of the night. When I complained, the staff was already aware of the issue, because this is a frequent complaint. The noise is my neighbor's air conditioner. They won't move me or fix it because "lots of our air conditioners do that."
google avatar

Zayaz C.

Yelp
It's sad that I have to leave such a low review of this place. The hotel itself is quite nice. Especially for the price. And the location is wonderful in terms of walkability. However I was mistakenly charged a large amount of money in the middle of the night which has left me next to no money during a lengthy road trip. I was assured by the manager that he would put a "rush" on the reimbursement, but it has been four days and I have yet to receive anything back. After having just called to check into status of my refund, I was met with a flippant and rather condescending response by someone who is better suited at working in a strict 1980's rural schoolhouse than in hospitality. There was also no attempt at any sort of gesture of apology or peace offering from management.

Yelp
Coffee at the Brick located inside the Tryp is a delicious coffee shop in Lawrenceville. They serve breakfast & coffee! They have a delicious Chocolate Tryp Latte that is perfect amount of chocolate & sweet. Few tables available to site and enjoy!!

Yelp
pros are the very nice front desk and car valets, very cordial and helpful...convenient location and affordable cost. they werent price gouging like other hotels during a recent severe weather event. theme of the hotel plays on its past, so that was interesting. quiet and calm vibe. bar on top floor and in lobby. breakfast offered in lobby. cons were limited housekeeping service. showed up once in three night stay. ...floor was so sticky when we arrived i used a towel and mopped it myself. some non functioning aspects to room...bathroom doorhandle , lighting, fan ran continually in br... also, bit of a horror show looking under the bed. dust and litter was YEARS thick. reconsider if you have bad allergies.

Yelp
$25/day parking!!!! Make sure you add that to the cost of your room. The poor parking attendant is so used to everyone yelling at him about the policy, he has a little speech about how he doesn't make the rules. Jug of milk doesn't fit in fridge - too small. No carpets, only linoleum in all the rooms, which makes it way for them to clean but my feet very cold. Only gets two stars instead of one because my son (6) was ecstatic to have bunk beds, and the end tables (though very small) have at least six usb charging ports and 4 electric sockets each, so all devices can be charged at once without scouring the room for plugs.

Yelp
Upon a late return to the city I did not fell like driving the whole way home after spending most of my day in the air or at other airports. I knew I would feel this way before leaving so I booked my stay hear well in advance. With my flight landing after 9 and having to get through the airport and out of the lot I was a rather late check in here. But not to worry, they were ready for me. Biggest headache here, parking. Being in the Lawrenceville section of the sitting, parking is always a nightmare. They do have a lot where they charge to park, or you can attempt to find a spot somewhere in the neighborhood and hope your vehicle is still there come morning. I opted to park in the lot, but under one condition. I was fine with paying the fee to park, but I did not want a valet in my vehicle. They honored this and I was able to park my own car and keep my keys, however, I was told where to park by the valet. Check in went smoothly and I was heading up to my room in a no time. I really enjoy that this used to be a school in the area before being converted into a hotel. There are still touches of the school throughout, like the lockers in the hallway (you can't open them, I tried, I was being nebby). The room with its artwork and dark colors on the wall felt very much like being in a classroom with blackboards all around. Even the window covering were black to block out the light. It was a rather small room, but still managed to be comfortable. King sized bed with floating end tables on both sides. Open storage, desk, tv, all against the other wall. The bathroom was accommodating enough, spacious and the shower was kind of relaxing with the shower head. I definitely got a good night's rest here. I do have to say, the view was pretty spectacular as well. I had a room facing the neighborhood and right outside I had a view of a mural of Tom Savini. Kind of awesome. It also made it feel like you weren't out of place either.

Yelp
Horrible valet service I stayed for 10 days and had to self park and pay for valet even though I self parked...The 2nd shift valet guy has a nasty rude attitude I avoid him at all cost. First shift staff across the board Is fantastic!!

Yelp
Frankly we were disappointed. Firstly, the roof was clean. They of course have all the ubiquitous o

Yelp
Nice ground-floor bar for a drink or light meal in the Lawrenceville area. Had a work function here.

Liz T.

Yelp
Warning: do not book. Came to this hotel to enjoy the rooftop bar. It's featured on this site as a draw. Come to find out the rooftop is closed for a private event tonight (Saturday) and closed Sundays. Misleading. Not worth the money for a tiny room. Do not book.

Yelp
There were pros can cons staying here.. overall I would have to say the hotel was a 4-stars and the experience was more like a 2-star, so I'm averaging the pros and cons and giving this place an overall 3. We got off our flight and decided to check-in right away since it was already 4pm. We walked through the lobby, which is located in the back of the hotel, through the little side entrance, there is a parking lot out back and the main lobby entrance. Hard to spot, so it took our Uber circling a bit to find it. The person working the desk was talking to another employee and didn't even acknowledge us when we came in, they just continued talking and then he finally came to check us in. No "Hello! Welcome!" - no acknowledgement or greeting at all, just a "Are you guys checking in?!" WTF? Rude! I've never gotten this at any other hotel before - and I've stayed in plenty. They did the standard - credit card and ID to hold a deposit for incidentals. We went up to our room and was greeted by some green hallways, with designs on the carpet, and wooden posts by the elevators and black doors. I loved the decor of this place. Opening the door to to our room, I loved the wooden floors, the design of the bed frame and the cool light fixtures. It's more like an industrial look with the steel chair and the steel rack for your clothes. Yes, the room is smaller and there's not a closet or much of storage space - but it wasn't a huge issue for us. The bathrooms had the rain shower head, which we loved, the white tiles and the black accents and floors! We were impressed! The beds were comfy, the pillows were comfy - great firmness in each! I slept well here because it was comfy and quiet. We had our room cleaned once out of the 3 nights here and the maid didn't do a very good job cleaning the showers. There was still hair stuck in the drains and we had to clean it ourselves. No bueno. The hotel is walking distance to a few restaurants but really inconvenient for sightseeing and to walk anywhere besides the bars and restaurants in the area. This place is the latest neighborhood to get gentrified in Pittsburgh so it's a little hipster-ish. I didn't like paying $10-$20 to get anywhere in the city via Uber. It says walking distance to places but 2.5 miles could be a 1.5 hr walk in this city. Beware! I hear the bar area has an amazing view but I didn't get to check it out. The restaurant/coffee bar on the 1st floor is empty. I also hear the rooftop restaurant serves delicious Mediterranean food and just opened a week ago, but we didn't get a chance to try that either!

Yelp
Loved this hotel. We were there for 4 days! Rooms super cute beds were very comfortable. Loved the little coffee bar downstairs and all the little places in walking distance. Great place ! Has a cool history too if you get a chance ask about the hotel.

Yelp
Before our stay I was SO EXCITED to check out the Tryp but unfortunately I left disappointed. We booked the suite with a king bed and bunk bed. The sitting chair in the room was covered in dog hair, the shower curtain in the bathroom was visibly soiled along the bottom and edges. The whole bathroom smelled musky. All of the surfaces were dusty and I found food wrappers behind the microwave when I plugged in the steamer. I hate to complain, especially because I understand the service industry is struggling to find workers but at over $300 a night for the room, I really wanted a less icky shower curtain. When I tried to call the front desk, the in room phone did not work. When I finally got through to the front desk they seemed uninterested in most of my concerns but said they'd sent maintenance up with a new shower curtain. While we waited for them, we noticed a loud humming sound that sounded as thought it was above us every 30 seconds. We mentioned it to the employee who brought the curtain who responded something like "that's really a question for the engineer and he left." We were there for a wedding so we left but when we returned the sound was still there and very annoying when trying to sleep. Overall I was disappointed and would not stay at the tryp again.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Fun energy - very steel design - comfy beds - great shower. Stopped in on road trip 2021 and was greeted by a super friendly guy at counter. Apparently our room requested was not cleaned that day so they offered us a second room, free of charge. We declined the additional room but his genuine readiness to go above and beyond to make us feel at home was not lost. Definitely will stay here again.

K D.

Yelp
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing. Cons: Very limited customer service. No one to help with bags, no room service, you cannot order food over the phone, you are not allowed to purchase an alcoholic beverage at the bar and take it to your room, the "complimentary coffee" is after 2pm (NOT in the morning), and they offered complimentary bagels but no cream cheese. Most budget hotels are better than this place. If you are traveling with a pet: I was traveling with 2 small dogs. They make you fill out an extensive pet waiver which I have never needed to do before. There are no pet friendly areas in or outside the hotel. They charged me 3 times for the pet fee so make sure to check your receipt before leaving. I would describe this hotel as pet tolerant (not pet friendly). TRYP sent me a review request after my stay and I relayed this info. The only thing they acknowledged was that they were sorry I was overcharged for my pets.

Liz G.

Yelp
Very clean, crisp, spartan room decor; must request refrigerator and water; coffee in lobby, valet only parking. Note that room sizes vary--our "micro king" room was TINY but they moved us to a MUCH larger room on a corner at no add'l cost right away. I slept very well-was there for one night.

R W.

Yelp
When I'm on vacation I tend to be generous with expenses but I'm thinking Boutique Hotel is synonymous with A La carte- parking was $25 overnight, was unsure if the coffee in the room was complimentary or not so didn't use, the bar seemed to have irregular hours and no ice machines available tho you could ask at the front desk for ice which I was reluctant to do bc I'd have been there several times. Room was small so the sitting option was on the bed- very comfy btw- or one stool in the room. Great location close to whatever you might want. Did not have to drive anywhere. I think my next visit I'd choose a place that offers more of a value- ie self parking, ice, maybe a comp continental breakfast or coffee. I'm not complaint about the prices but I don't see much value for the money.

Phil C.

Yelp
Clean rooms, outstanding hotel staff who are supper helpful if you are visiting and the valet staff give you the 5 star treatment. Excellent location and place to stay.

Tim J.

Yelp
I want to love everything about this hotel, from its history, location, to its wonderful rooftop views. However, this is my second time staying here (2022 and 2023) and the rooms have never been that clean, especially the walls, which looked like they had spill marks on them. Would I stay here again? I suppose I would because of the location, but my expectations for a clean room are low.

Yelp
Terrible service. Chicken order was RAW (and 30 min after the first order of jerk chicken from our party). I asked if there was supposed to be blood (not myoglobin or marrow) coming out and the waitress said it's "the ligaments" and walked away. Even if they were correct, you would think you would make your customers feel safe if it's a health concern and just return to kitchen and cook more so there wasn't actual blood pouring out of it.

Matthew M.

Yelp
What a fantastic place! We enjoyed our stay here. And, they even have a little coffee shop/cafe in the hotel. The man that worked there today (didn't get his name), was AMAZING! Not only did he make a great cappuccino and latte, he was so friendly and personable! The entire hotel experience was fantastic!

Jessica H.

Yelp
The decorations are trendy and the beds are nice-- but it stops at that. The guy at the front desk (evening shift) was rude on the phone before I even got to the hotel. He went from bad to worse when I got there. I was put in a room that looked like a dirty janitor's closet. I'm pretty sure someone had been using the room before I checked in. There was hair and red glitter all over the bed and floor, a tissue in the trash can, and the shower was still wet. I got transferred to another room. It had gum and bugs on the floor, but at least I could see out the window in this one. The area does not feel safe at all, so would not recommend walking anywhere after dark. If you are looking for a nice hotel--trust me--this is not it.

Kristen G.

Yelp
I don't quite understand why this place has horrible reviews, but I guess every experience is different. I'll start with all the goods because there were a lot. This place had extremely friendly staff. Loved the receptionists and the valets. All were polite and enjoyable to talk to. The building itself is really cool and well renovated. We got the room we booked and it wasn't nearly as tiny as some are saying. It's not lavish and giant but it was plenty of space for two of us and our two dogs. Beds were very comfy. Our room came with a small fridge and tiny freezer which was great for us! The coffee maker was also nice in the morning for a cup before heading downstairs for more coffee. Drip coffee, cream, sugar, bagels, pastries, cream cheese, butter, and a toaster were provided downstairs for a nice self serve breakfast. The location was in a great place with plenty of cute restaurants and shops. Very artsy. It was also a quick Lyft ride to downtown (or hop on the 91 bus for under $3). We actually walked the 3 miles from PNC Park back and it was a great stroll. The city is magnificent. I wish we would have stayed longer to be honest. Only stayed a night so we can't review the housekeeping. The negatives are small and mainly deal with price. I called about my dogs and was told it was a one time price of $20 total. I got there and it was $25 per dog. That's a bit steep especially when I was told something different on the phone. They don't have limits to size at least and everybody was SO friendly to my pooches. They loved the attention. Small Tip: If you have dogs, across the street on the other side of the Rite Aid there is grass for them to relieve themselves. The only other negative is the parking, like many have mentioned. A valet is only necessary because the parking lot is laid out so other cars can block others in. $25/night is ridiculous. It's not covered or protected. But I guess with supply and demand it makes sense because it's not convenient to park anywhere else. Still, it's not downtown so that pricing is kind of crazy to me. Bring two copies of your keys so you can access your car and things on your own and not have to wait for the valet. Really the negatives just deal with price. Around $100/night turned into just under $200 because of parking and dogs. That's disappointing.

Yelp
The staff here are absolutely wonderful. They are so friendly and accommodating. Rooms were nice. Each one different. I liked that the building kept the old lockers in the hallways, and the different art on the walls. Very unique place. There were only 2 minor things that I didn't like 1 there are no refrigerator or microwaves in the rooms, they had to be requested (and I always requested a mini fridge and got one each week) and the noise from the restaurant/bar on the top floor during the week. Overall it was very nice.

Yelp
So here's the thing, while I do tend to like the style of hotel the TRYP (I still don't understand the name, Trip with a Y? All caps?) was trying way to hard to be cool and seemed to have opened before it was ready. Pros: - Beds were comfortable - Rooftop bar has a really nice view (though it's hours are limited and you can't just go up for the view) - Walking distance to a cute neighborhood Cons: - Rooms are small (which was less of a problem since I was in the room by myself, but I can see how having another person in the room would be tight) - Sliding bathroom door doesn't actually close so you have to choose if you prefer a gap on the right or left side. (I went with left) - Air conditioning (even when "off") made this annoying alarming buzz sound every couple of minutes constantly waking me up. And don't bother asking the front desk staff for assistance, they will write it on a post-it note and stare at you trying to discern why you are still standing there. - Main floor bar/lounge area isn't open - The level of service is just lacking. The staff of this newly opened hotel emote this "I've been working at this hotel for 45 years and I am OVER life" vibe. Personally I would find a different hotel. If you just want a place to lay your head, I would find something cheaper knowing that is all you need.

Yelp
I booked this hotel for my parents when they visit. We were there 5/13-5/16 and then 5/17-5/21. For the first part of stay, the room was not cleaned unless we asked. No one instructed us how to request for room clean. When we checked in for the second part of the stay, we mentioned that the room needs to be cleaned everyday while checking in. The front desk acknowledged our request and still did not mention the tidy sign thing. The next day coming back in the evening, the room was not cleaned. We called the front desk and the front desk finally said that we need to put a tidy sign they have in the room on the door in order to have the room cleaned. The room does not have a tidy sign so we requested one and the front desk said that they don't have it and asked us to call the next morning to request the room to be cleaned. It turned out that the front desk person refused to give us the tidy sign was lying all this time because the next shift was able to provide the sign in minutes. The front desk person who refused to provide the tidy sign also lied about his name because we reached out to the manager and the manager could not recall this person. This hotel has serious management issue and lacking professionalism. It is extremely outrageous. It does not make sense that the customers have to bear the burden for the room to be cleaned.

Yelp
This is a really cool rooftop bar at the Wyndham. I stopped by here last night for a cocktail and was surprised the place was dead for such a nice venue. The bartender was very nice and I'd definitely return for drinks and a meal in the future.

Yelp
My recent baby shower was hosted at TRYP Pittsburgh and I was thrilled with the experience from start to finish! Wazw directions took me right to the entrance of the building where I was greeted by the kindest valet who helped me out of the vehicle with a sile. Upon entering, I was immediately helped by front desk staff. The Washington Room was spacious enough for guests to mingle without feeling crammed and well lit for photos. The food was amazing and exactly what the event coordinator and I had agreed upon. Hotel staff were prompt when clearing plates and helped to package any remaining food to take home. I highly recommend TRYP Pittsburgh and the Washington Room specifically for any event you might be hosting soon!

Yelp
Horrible dirty rooms. Bare cement floor, sheets are not clean. Bathroom floor and shower look like have not been cleaned

Yelp
Checked in and was given a room that with no towels and a clogged toilet. When I complained, I was told there were no other similar rooms available and that I should wait for the room to be cleaned. After sitting in the lobby for half an hour, I was told I would be given another room after all and someone would check to make sure it was ready. The receptionist was talking to someone else on a phone headset the whole time, and was he away from the desk when I heard someone say over an intercom that the new room was okay. When I got to that room, it was clean but the bed was improperly made, so I had to pull out the sheets and remake the bed myself. This hotel has a cool veneer, with touches paying homage to its former incarnation as a vocational high school, but I have rarely experienced such sloppy housekeeping and incompetent management.

Yelp
Over this Fourth of July holiday we stayed for 4 days. The room is fine, but if you want any of the amenities that they advertise forget it!! The Brick open coffee bar was never open. They did have coffee in coffee urns sitting there on the counter with the creamers and syrups, but when we went to get coffee there was none left, the bottles were empty. If wanted breakfast, you had to order it from the front desk (reall)! I ask the front desk receptionist some questions about the restaurant Eden that is their rooftop restaurant and bar. She could tell me nothing like what type of food the prices range ,nothing! I have Work and Customer Service and in the medical field for over 30 years and you don't have an employee that doesn't know anything about your hotel. I know the amenities being close had nothing to do with the staff, but the staff should be educated.

Yelp
This wonderful hotel opened a week ago in the Lawrenceville area, with reclaimed finishes from when it was a trade school. The basketball court wood elevator area is very cool. The bed was super comfy, the shower is fancy, the whole space was just neat and artsy. We loved it. A double queen was $150.

Yelp
The restaurants look decent but I haven't tried them yet - tried to go to the bar on a Friday night but everything closed down at 10. I like the industrial chic look and suppose the hotel would be okay for night or two but: 1) Housekeeping is very sub-par. The room was a bit gross when we arrived: the nightstand was covered in dust, there were drips of something on the edges of the bathroom countertop, and the wall near the toilet was splattered with something. I cleaned it all with a disinfectant wipe myself. Housekeeping is by request only. We asked them to change the sheets, they just made the bed with the same sheets we'd been sleeping on. 2) The bathroom is right in the bedroom, literally. When you're taking a shower, you're in the sleeping space. There's a mirror above the sink, which is right across from the shower so if you turn the wrong way you "get" to see yourself showering. Also, the room doesn't warm up when you shower so it's very chilly drying off. I'm going to crank up the heat and let the room get as warm as possible before I shower tomorrow. I covered the shower doors in towels so I felt less exposed. I really hated this arrangement. 3) THE GOOD: The bed is very comfortable and I've heard that the guitarist who plays in the bar on Thursday evenings is quite good.

Yelp
Very friendly staff! Stayed 3 nights. Quirky rooms but great location to walk to everything: shopping, restaurants, bars. Rooftop bar is GREAT. Morning coffee in lobby is friendly & cute which makes up for the slow service (the last morning we blew off that wait & got coffee elsewhere.) You pay a reasonable cost for the coffee but the food is free (weird but okay...). Room was surprising - 1st one we checked into had the glass shower directly next to the King bed - switched to a different King room which was better but just know there is no privacy if you travel w a partner. The shower + sink are literally right in the bedroom. Toilet room had a door but it never fully closed because it's is a "farm style" slider. (Stupid design). No toilet privacy. Note: this was NOT a "Micro Room" which some are; cannot imagine how they are set up! Daily housekeeping is NOT assumed but is available if you request it (learned that the hard way Day 1.). They should notify guests of this at check in. Other than the quirks it was a good, clean, safe place for us to stay & enjoy Pittsburgh!!

Yelp
I booked a two bed room for a wedding. Upon arrival I was notified I would be receiving a 1 king bed room. This made accommodations hard for my family of three. Additionally, the room was incredibly small. The only place to sit was the bed. Only one of three family members could stand or move about the room the room at a time due to the size and layout of the room. Finding parking was a challenge. The hotel did offer $25 valet parking. Additionally, I was told there was a discounted rate for a wedding which I was told I would receive upon checking. I did not receive the rate. Ultimately ended up leaving the hotel that night (eating the host) for another hotel with two beds and more space. Ultimately I would recommend being more honest in the room and hotel description online.

Yelp
I drove 4 1/2 hours on a Friday to this hotel after a long day of work. We arrived at 11:30 to be informed our prepaid room was no longer available as they were sold out. "Sorry sir. We over booked" Manager offered a Days Inn 10 miles away for free. When I asked about the area, "There are worse neighborhoods. You wouldn't get shot in the parking lot." Thanks, but no thanks. I believe that the best way to judge an establishment is how they handle issues when things go wrong. The person who helped us at checking wasn't too helpful, but was honest. The assistant manager was kind and said the "correct" statements when I complained about my room being given away. But in the end she was unhelpful. Finally, the hotel manager reached out to me. He was a pleasure to speak with. He immediately made things right by me. While I can't comment on a hotel that I did not stay in, I will say the manager is a standup guy. I will try to stay at this hotel the next time I am in Pittsburgh. I will change my review from one to three stars because of the manager.

Yelp
I have stayed here more than 50 nights in 2022 and they CANNOT clean the rooms! The first GM Ron asked for guests to "request" cleaning, but they couldn't even follow the notebook for requested "TYDY" at the front desk. The current GM John is even more CLUELESS! Stains, unwashed floors, and dirty bathrooms speak to the level of cleanliness at the Tryp. The sad part of this all is the hotel is very convenient to Butler Street and the desk staff is very nice. Too bad the management and cleaning staff can't figure out people want clean accommodations when they book a hotel!

Yelp
terrible staff as I was sitting with my mom trying to enjoy my meal I witnessed the chef stand there yelling one of the other employees
