Our experience at Tryst started off on the wrong foot. When we first arrived, we weren’t greeted at all. We sat outside, and the hostess quickly handed us menus and informed us we only had about 20 minutes to order lunch before the dinner menu started at 5 PM. Then it began to rain, and we were moved to the indoor bar—(both the indoor and outdoor bartenders were very friendly.)
After settling in, we walked over to the hostess to ask if we could be moved to a table. She said yes, but never came back to seat us. Instead, we watched her seat other guests who had just walked in. At that point, we decided to just pay for our one drink and leave, concerned that the service might reflect the quality of the food.
But as we were getting to our car, the kitchen and waitstaff manager stopped us to ask about our experience—and we gave them our honest feedback. They convinced us to come back inside, and I’m so glad we did.
Carl went above and beyond to turn things around. The food? Absolutely 10/10—from the appetizers all the way to the dessert. And that cheesecake? One of the best desserts I’ve ever had.
Thank you, Tryst, for not letting a bad start be the end of our visit. You took the time and care to truly fix the experience, when most places would’ve just let us walk away. Because of that, we will definitely be returning.
