Second time coming here for the vegan buffet, I’m so mad at my stomach since I could barely finish two plates! The host is so sweet and all the food is dang good! They definitely have a good amount of options and even on my second visit, I still haven’t been able to try everything! The only thing missing in my opinion is some fried rice, maybe if they could make some with tofu scramble and black salt that would be nice? The price also increased $3 since I last visited, but what hasn’t gone up in price at this point? Overall, would highly recommend this place, especially for vegans!

Google
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Boulder county. My wife and I are vegetarian and we love all the vegan options available on their menu. The owners are super friendly too. We love the vegan buffet on Mondays and Thursdays as well as the other nights when we order off of the menu. Love this place!

Peter Rattien

Google
Vegan and non-vegan family members and all loved it. If you’re vegan, they have a separate extensive vegan menu. If you can, go on Monday or Thursday night for their vegan buffet ($22). All of my pics are of that buffet! Trust me, just go.

As a Vegetarian, I love the “all vegan” dinner buffet at Tsing Tao Restaurant. There are so many delicious items to choose from! The vegan buffet is only offered twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays starting at 5:00 PM. Besides Chinese dishes, they also have some other Asian dishes on the buffet, like Thai Basil Eggplant with Tofu n Broccoli, Mongolian “Plant-based Vegan Beef” w/sliced peppers n onions, and Vegetable Tempura, just to name a few. All of these dishes are my favorites. Some of my other favorites are Szechuan Eggplant with Tofu, the Sautéed Bok Choy, Vegan Sesame Balls filled with a lightly sweet bean paste, Fresh Rice Paper Spring Rolls, and the Sautéed String Beans. The Peanut Sauce is the best I have ever had, and I have tried many versions of peanut sauce in my lifetime… there is a nice light coconut taste to it. The owners are very conscious when preparing their vegan dishes, so I feel confident that there is no animal/meat/seafood cross contamination. If the Buffet is not your thing, they also have an extensive vegetarian section and an extensive vegan section on their menu. If you’re looking for the best Chinese Vegan and Vegetarian food in Boulder County, I highly recommend Tsing Tao Restaurant… James DC

Google
Omiword. I had no idea that such a yummy Chinese restaurant was in Boulder. They have a lovely lunch buffet though their hours are rather strict for it. I'm vegetarian, so I didn't get the buffet since it was heavily meat oriented. But the lunch cashew tofu dish I got was absolute bomb. I will definitely come back here and bring friends.

Google
The food is really good and has so much flavor. I love all the different meat free choices, especially the eggplant dishes. The hot and sour soup has a wonderful flavor.

Dom Garcia

Google
Glad we found this place! We haven’t had Chinese food since going vegan. They also do a vegan buffet on Monday’s and Thursdays so we will definitely be back for that. The atmosphere was quiet and the people were very friendly. We ordered a lot of food and they gave us a free vegan egg roll and vegan hot sour soup. We ordered the vegan beef with broccoli with rice, the vegan orange chicken, and we also got lo mein. Love this place

Google
The food was mediocre, the buffet is way too expensive for such small variety to choose from. The quality of the food was not so great. The fried rice was plain no veggies at all and was more like steamed rice with barely even any soy . I’ve ordered from the menu on a separate occasion, getting the fried rice which had too much egg shell in it you couldn’t avoid any of it which ruined my appetite.

Yelp
I love stopping by here every time I come to Boulder. They have plenty of vegan options and I love their vegan buffet. The hot and sour soup is one of my favorites on the menu :)

Yelp
Food is the lowest quality I've had in a Chinese restaurant in the entirety month half century of life. The positive thing I can say is that it is better than it was three years ago. I had a male with a small child who was dumbfounded by the price and quality. At 10 years of age she was astounded at the worthlessness of our meal. The commercial landlords in southern Boulder routinely shoot away decent restaurants so that we have to put up with this trash. I can live my whole life not seeing someone served me food out of a trough behind a sneeze guard and that would be an upgrade to this establishment. Here we are. Tebo's finest. Outstanding if you have no taste and will take any slop they throw on top of rice. It's a complete embarrassment that the place remains open. I wouldn't return here for a napkin.

Steve M.

Yelp
What could improve? Everything. Maybe go out of business and hopefully a decent Chinese restaurant could make a go of it.

Yelp
The must be a popular place: they were pretty much full on a Monday! Came after voting to grab a bite. It's a fairly standard Chinese restaurant with some great vegetarian options. The staff was friendly and nice, only one hard working waitress for the dining room. I came expecting more of a Thai/Japanese vibe, but this place is straight outta the 90s! Not in a bad way, but different than I expected. To be honest, I thought the prices were high for the quality. They have a big buffet m, but sadly not much vege options. The buffet is reasonably priced at $20. I got the wonton soup and sesame tofu. I messed up and didn't ask for vege wontons, so I got pork. They were alright but tasted plain. Sesame tofu came on a big platter with lots of rice. The broccoli smelled funny, but tasted fine. Would have liked a few other vegetables. This entree was listed at $15. There was a lot of tofu and sauce. Overall, I can tell that this place has a strong community founding. Which is great to see, but I can definitely hope for higher quality next time. I will try their soy entrees next, everyone buzzed about them on Yelp!

Yelp
Great customer service. The woman offered my child watermelon after we were done with our lunch even brought us more when my child accidentally dropped it. Great options for vegetarians/vegans. They also have carnivore food.

Yelp
I love, love, love their vegan buffet. It's so refreshing to enjoy a guilty pleasure (Chinese food) but keep it healthy-ish by being 100% vegan. Even better, they were open New Year's Day, so we got to have a nice little date night. The buffet offers a fair amount of variety. They had orange slices, honeydew, and a salad as starters. White rice, brown rice, and lo mein were available as a base. Then they had orange "chicken" (my favorite), sweet and sour "chicken," a "beef" and veggie entree, an option that included eggplant, one that included tofu, and a couple other options and soups. Basically, there are more than 3 things to choose from and eat. Service was also great. There was always someone around to refill drinks, check on the food to see if anything needed replenishing, and check in on us to make sure we were good. I can't wait to go back.

Gabriela ..

Yelp
We drove from Denver when we heard of the vegan buffet. It was delicious, and the service was awesome. Everyone was really nice. We will be coming back many more times.

Yelp
We came in for their buffet around 1:00 today. It's a small, but decent buffet. Around $14 per person, which isn't too bad. The owners are kind. When we walked up to the buffet, they asked us which items we were interested in... so they could refresh them. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
I ordered through an online service, as is encouraged on the website. When I arrived to pick up my order, about 5 minutes later than the estimated time for pick up, I was told I'd need to wait another 15 minutes (which turned into 20+). It seemed they only fired the order after I showed up in person, not when I submitted online. The food was fair - we had chicken with vegetables and shrimp lo mein. Both were greasy and the lo mein was bland. We have eaten at Tsing Tao for about 20 years, and the quality has fallen over the last 5-ish years.

Cara K.

Yelp
We love this place! Service is always super warm and friendly! My son loves the Chicken Pad Thai. My husband loves the vegetable dumplings steamed and I really loved the Beef Chow Fun! Cute little casual spot!

Yelp
Horrible food and horrible service. I went in for lunch, nobody sat me. I was almost done with my first plate of food when the waitress finally came and asked me what I'd like to drink. Food was old and horrible. Never again.

Yelp
We ordered: crab Rangoon, egg rolls, sweet & sour chicken, fried rice and cashew chicken - pretty simple stuff The crab Rangoon was decent, nothing to shoot from the mountaintops about. My teens had the sweet & sour, and they weren't too happy. Didn't really like the taste and the chicken was dry. But this is all about me, and I had the cashew chicken, which was awesome. The quality of the chicken was unexpectedly good, the ratio of vegetables to meat was perfect, and the ratio of different veggies was also perfect. Typically when I've ordered cashew chicken, there's an entire head of celery in there, some carrots, hardly any cashews, some mushroom slivers, and some really sad gristly, rubbery chicken. Not the case here. The sauce was amazing, everything was cooked perfectly - I will definitely be ordering this again.

Yelp
Vegan buffet is now Monday night AND Thursday night 5:30-8pm , full menu is still offered so vegans and carnivores can enjoy an amazing meal at the same restaurant - take all your friends!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Best Chinese buffet ever. I can't believe a Chinese restaurant in Boulder could be so authentic and fresh. I don't mind me some greasy Americanized Chinese food, and that's what I was expecting. But that's not what I got at all. Just a really fantastic restaurant both in terms of value and quality. I can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly place, delicious steamed pork dumplings, with a sauce that has a tiny bit of heat to it. Pad Thai was good too, not quite as peanut-y as I am used to but the chicken was fresh and tasty and the noodles were good , it was a nice big portion for 2. I will be back!

Reagan D.

Yelp
Friendly lady server. She' remembers my Keto restrictions and she gets me my Jalapeño Shrimp with no sugar and flour. Delish.
google avatar

Yelp
Had the luncheon buffet. Decent variety but the food was hardly warm. Nothing exceptional. Service was good and place was clean.
google avatar

Bree G.

Yelp
Reason to eat here: 1. Tons of authentic cuisine 2. Two entire pages of vegetarian and vegan options 3. Huge lunch portions that are all specials! Come with soup and egg rolls 4. A fan favorite buffet coming 7/19/21 (have not tried yet but excited to) 5. Quick, friendly service 6. Great prices for portions I can go on and on, and I can't wait to return to add on to this list.

Yelp
I tried to call inquiring about what time their lunch ended. The guy that answered the phone hung up on me. So thinking we just got disconnected I called again. I explained I was planning a lunch with my daughter and before I could say anything else he hung up on me! WOW We will not take our business there! What is sad is the lunch menu looked good. We were just trying to work around my daughter's class schedule.

Yelp
Still my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant I've been to. I give it five stars because the staff is so welcoming, always remember me (even after a nearly year long hiatus,) and the food is always exquisite! ^^ The one thing I miss is the mapo tofu i the vegan Chinese buffet! Tsing Tao has hands down the BEST mapo tofu I've ever tasted so I'm sad to see it not in the vegan buffet anymore and super duper hope they bring it back! :x
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Large vegan menu (a full page of faux chicken/beef/shrimp dishes) so they automatically get major kudos for that! I got the "beef" and broccoli. I thought it could have been seasoned better - the "beef" was pretty bland. Also tried the vegan hot and sour soup - that was really tasty. There's ample space to eat there and they offer delivery as well. They also have a vegan dinner buffet on Mondays & Thursdays from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Couldn't find a price but you can always call ahead.

Yelp
It's *good* if you're looking for basic Chinese food. Like, if you eat at buffets and that's your thing, you'll think it's great. Nothing here will blow your socks off if you are used to Chinese food. After a while, everything on your plate starts to taste the same. It's just decent Chinese food. Stereotypical Chinese food joint in a land-locked state, in the US. Get what I mean? It just is. Nothing bad about it, but we didn't finish the leftovers.

Yelp
My wife and I frequent this place for lunch monthly, and while their food is really great I ran into a conflict with the waitress / owner. I ordered Lemon Chicken which is usually great, but this time the chicken was rubbery and tasteless. I sent it back and the waitress copped a nasty attitude. She refused to replace the entire meal - giving me just half an order of lemon chicken - I didn't complain and paid the entire tab. I thought, oh well, Stuff happens so I'll let it go. The next time I ordered lemon chicken again the waitress balked, reminding me that I returned the last one and I probably would not like this one either. It's not like I was a chronic complainer ( I love lemon chicken), and I have never returned a meal at Tsing Tao. A good customer for over a year. After her protest she delivered our meals. She had the gall to give me half an order and when I asked her about it I got more attitude. She said, and I'm paraphrasing, "I told you not to get that! You were just going to return it anyway!" I expressed dissatisfaction but she could have cared less. BTW, she charged me for a full order of lemon chicken!! She lost two good customers that day as we will never return. But no worries! We found China Gourmet in N. Boulder and it's even better than Tsing Tao.

Yelp
If you are in Boulder you MUST stop by Tsing Tao. I have difficulty finding authentic and flavorful Chinese food, but not at Tsing Tao. The staff here are extremely kind and sweet. The food is fresh and locally sourced, I have seen the family cutting vegetables and prepping for orders while seated at my table. My experience with Kevin was superb, he recommended the shrimp fried rice, pad see lew, and the bbq spare ribs. I was blown away by the flavor explosion. Also their fresh Thai tea was one of the best I have had, you can tell they steep their tea leaves for a long time to prepare the fabulous drink. Delicious and excellent service, I will be back for more.

Mya C.

Yelp
10/10 My favorite asian place to eat in Boulder!! The staff is always super friendly here PLUS you get so much for the price. I always have left overs to take home. I'm pretty picky when it comes to good Asian food but Tsing Tao checks that box!! Definitely a the go-to Asian restaurant if you're looking for a big menu and some big plates I also recommend dining in since I found you get more food! Take out is good - but I prefer the dinning in experience Also they have a delicious vegan menu!!

Blaine P.

Yelp
Delicious food and kind, gracious owners. They pick/clean/trim fresh produce at one of the tables between services, just as many legit Chinese family restaurants in LA, SF, etc do.
google avatar

Jeb H.

Yelp
This has always been my go to Chinese place. Im a girl who is used to Chinese food in NYC. Staff is always kind.

Lisa S.

Yelp
I was there last night for the vegan buffet, and the food was awesome! What's even better is the personalized attention and very friendly nature of the two managers, Kwok and Huina! They are both fantastic people!
google avatar

Matt N.

Yelp
Three hour wait for takeout food, with no notice of when food would be ready? No thanks
google avatar

Rick H.

Yelp
Was a good place years ago but crappy now. They won't even sub noodles for rice because "we cook to order." Well if you cook to order cook some noodles instead of rice with the order. If you want to stay in business may work to give the customer what they want. No kids menu, no substitutions, $2.50 for a fountain drink and $1.00 per each refill. Welcome back to 1969!
google avatar

Todd R.

Yelp
I'm a Boulder native, but recently discovered, this little gem. The buffet and lunch was amazing, with a wide selection of delicacies. The owners are very Friendly as well. We will return soon.
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
So glad the vegan buffet is back on Mondays and Thursdays! The food is always great, and the staff couldn't be nicer. If you're looking for Asian food, especially if you're vegetarian or vegan, definitely check out Tsing Tao!!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic! Great food and nice people. Our granddaughters beg us to take them there every time they visit. Our family's favorite!
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Wow great 10/10 would recommend. Will come back. Waitor is the mvp. Hardest worker ever works every day. So nice best service ever. The best thing here is the chow fun. The Thai tea is pretty on point too. There's a lot of variety on the menu.

Yelp
had lunch here again today. was delicious as always!!!!! got my regular order of sesame chicken and broccoli with steamed rice, wonton soup, and spring roll. when I tell you tsing tsao has the BEST SPRING ROLLS IN BOULDER!!!!!!! ilove this restraunt so much and the staff make me feel right at home. I'm becoming a regular here and will probably never order from anywhere again!!!

Jessica H.

Yelp
This place has a vegan buffet on Monday's and OMG is it spectacular. I cannot thank them enough for catering to different dietary restrictions. The buffet was amazing and the staff and atmosphere was so warm and welcoming.

Mother S.

Yelp
I really like Tsing Tao! The food is good & they are super sweet & friendly. My favorite is Buddha's Delight with tofu. They also deliver to my doorstep! Highly recommend them.

Carol C.

Yelp
Friends told us about this place and we were really looking forward to finding someplace for good takeout. Ordered Szechuan beef and Orange chicken, two dishes that are supposed to be spicy - plus two orders of fried egg rolls. The egg rolls were skinny and filled with the cabbage mixture - no season, no flavor. Worse, both of the entrees were completely bland and tasteless. Wasn't just that they weren't spicy - they had NO taste. It's like the forgot to put them in the sauce and cook them. The orange chicken had no orange zest or scallions or anything in it. Just breaded chicken - and overcooked breaded chicken at that. Both came on top of some very overcooked, pale green broccoli florets. Threw away the leftovers - didn't want to make myself have to eat a bland mess of food twice.
google avatar

Yuri K.

Yelp
This is great American Chinese food. The quality of ingredients is high and the woman who works here is a ray of sunshine. We order delivery at times and are always greeted with someone who is happy to see us despite our pathetic pj-wearing state. They have nice fried rice dishes, and I appreciate that they have vegan options. Their chicken dishes are nice if you eat meat. They also have an affordable lunch buffet that they keep fresh. I think one or two weekdays are vegan buffets. The only challenge is the food coma afterwards!
google avatar

Jacob L.

Yelp
It's difficult for me to put into words how insanely much I LOVE the vegan buffet on Thursday nights. When I stopped eating meat, I was always worried that I would never taste the delicious-goodness that is sesame chicken again but boy was a WRONG! The vegan buffet at Tsing Tao takes everything I love about Chinese food, takes out all the meat, and makes it 1,000X better. I get cravings for this place like you wouldn't believe. Their Hot & Sour Soup is easily my favorite in the state. The vegan sesame chicken is life-changing (and better than regular sesame chicken, in my opinion). The green beans (at the vegan buffet) are cooked to perfection and mixed in a DELICIOUS garlic-onion sauce. I can't get enough. I stuff myself to the verge of exploding because it's so amazingly good I just can't stop myself. And, as if it could possibly get any better, the service here is just perfect. Everyone is so nice and friendly. I feel at home whenever I come in. I can't stop smiling from the moment I enter the door to long after I leave. I'd probably eat here every day if I could. This is, without question, one of my top 3 favorite restaurants of all time.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a fake meat gold mine! They offer an extensive menu of vegetarian dishes ranging from vegetable based to fake chicken, fake beef, even fake ham and seafood. Definitely a must try if you are a fan of Chinese food and want some mock meats. Number 1 dish for any time you go: mock sesame chicken. Delish!! I don't really know what it is about this meal but it is so good. Tasty breaded fake chicken in a superb sesame sweet sauce. The meal is just the chicken and does not come with any side veggies. Best time to go though is Thursday night for the vegan dinner buffet! Seriously we almost go every week for this. The buffet has many entree options and is all vegan! Of course they have the mock sesame chicken but they also have so much more. The Peking mock chicken, sesame tofu, sesame balls, egg rolls, pepper potatoes are all top favorites! The hot and sour soup is also quite tasty with lots of peppery spice. Not all the entrees on the buffet are to my liking. The veggy beef is sometimes a little dry and I am not a huge fan of the fake seafood. This is of little consequence since this is a buffet after all. The staff here is always very kind and present. I've never been disappointed in them. A must try if you are in South Boulder.

Yelp
This great place at the Table Mesa Shopping Center has the same name as the famous Chinese beer. I've been coming to Tsing Tao for 4 years now and have never been disappointed. They've got some good cooks who put together the right flavors into the different dishes. The stir-fried Udon, Shrimp Fried Rice, Pork Dumplings and Lo Mein are my go-to dishes, but I'll be trying other items on the menu over time. The owner lady is very charming and always stops by the table to say a personal friendly hello, even if she's really busy. Good food and warm atmosphere. Give Tsing Tao a shot !
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
The best part of our experience here was the quick friendly service. Our waitress was friendly and on top of it. The food on the other hand was unfortunately sub par Chinese food. I started with the scallion pancake which came out thick and doughy, similar to Navajo fry bread. Definitely not the flaky delicate pancakes I've had before. Next for me was Ma pao tofu. The dish looked and tasted as if it had frozen peas and carrots in it. The sauce was barely spicy and overall quite bland. The hubs went with pad Thai and it was so sweet that I could only do a bite. Same with every dish my friends ordered. Kung pao chicken and chicken with broccoli all tasted the same with no distinguishing flavors.

Mike S.

Yelp
Vegan buffet is a good idea to try out new stuff! The salad and dressings are really basic, but the variety makes up for some of the items.
google avatar

Conrad S.

Yelp
Avoid avoid avoid I got the dinner special. It tried the wonton, fried shrimp, wonton soup, Kung Pao delight (chicken, beef, shrimp combo). My fortune was right keep up the good work and I will be rewarded. Hopefully yelp reviewers will start actually giving places legitimate reviews so I don't find myself in this shit-uation again. Waste of $18 How? Does this place stay open? Does the kungpao delight taste so terrible? Did I end up here? As far as Americanized Asian goes this is some bottom of the barrel quality. The food is bland, lacks spice, and the fried rice was not very fried. Everything is covered in a really unimpressive sauce and yeah- not very good. The service/owner was nice enough but the food was so subpar. The meat is flavorless- the vegetables are flavorless. Someone please show these folks how to use salt and spice. Literally the most white asian food I've ever had.
google avatar

Amy Beth E.

Yelp
They advertise having gluten free dishes, upon testing what we ordered was not gluten free. Good thing my mother thought to test it or else she would have been hospitalized. When I called, the person who answered the phone didn't apologize or seem to care at all.

John F.

Yelp
Great hot and sour soup!Searched hot n sour soup found it here. They have a vegan buffet here as well which " looked" good.

Yelp
YES! Being from Chicago, I really love hearty chinese food that hits the spot. We were coming home late one night and decided to grab some pick-up from Tsing Tao on the way home. We are SO glad we did! The egg rolls are great - the pork egg rolls are AMAZING. Delicious generous filling wrapped in thick crispy egg roll paper and perfectly deep fried. The Mongolian beef was spot on and some of the best I've had in a long time. The sesame chicken was great as well. The chicken fried rice had the perfect flavor. They were friendly, fast, efficient, and the portions were huge. We live in Golden but will be coming back up to Tsing Tao soon!

W D.

Yelp
Love the yummy vegan options and the service is always so friendly! Portions are huge.
