Austin Food Truck Discada Tacos Reopens After Car Crash | Eater Austin

"One of two Asian restaurants organizing a charity golf tournament to raise funds for its feeding-focused charity branch; the event features owner-led teams, takes place at a Round Rock course on Thursday, November 11, and awards a trophy to the winning team while the losing owner must work a day at the other restaurant. The organizers hope to raise $50,000 for each restaurant’s charity, and people can register to play or sponsor the event." - Nadia Chaudhury

I ordered a late dinner off DoorDash around 10:30 pm. I got the Happy Family bowl and Vietnamese chicken wings. The rice was undercooked, the meat tasted old (like frozen then thawed) but the chicken wings were ok. I will not order from here again.

Google
Just not that good. Fried rice had a foul flavor to it that reminded me of a Chinese bathroom. Gave it to the dogs. General tso's chicken was pretty yummy although a little too spicy so my stomach hurt that night. But I just felt disgusting after eating this food. More so than your regular Chinese greasiness. Green beans were good. General tso's chicken was okay. Orange chicken not as good. Hot and sour soup okay. I would order for this as my standby greasy Chinese place if it didn't really make me feel kind of sick afterwards. Just heavy and gross. I will not order from here again. I gave all of the chicken to the dogs the next day very sad. Fast delivery.

First time tryng TSO. Picked up for my daughters and I on Sunday Oct 5. It looked really good but it lacked flavor. Ordered combination lo mein, combination fried rice and general tsos chicken. The lo mein and rice had very little flavor. The rice and noodles were light coated with very little sauce. The general tso was really sweet and no spice. There were larger cuts of vegetables compared to other places. It wasnt too bad it just lacked flavor. May try again but may try to find another place before I try TSO's again .

Waited over an hour for my delivery order with no update. The driver couldn't find my unit despite detailed instructions. If I had not called to get an update, I am not sure if I would have gotten a refund or even been notified. They were nice about the refund and made that easy at least. So much for feeling like crap and wanting to order in food.

Google
This a definitely a Chinese restaurant I'll be hitting up more often. The food, and atmosphere of the restaurant gave me high hopes. The portion of the bowl was good for the price. My only problem was with the beef. It required some chewing up. However, everything including the beef was full of flavor. And let me tell u...the spice level I chose was dead on...I didn't want it too spicy or just mild. They got it spot on. I would also say...include more duck sauce or a small cup of sweet and sour for the spring rolls. They were good 😋 too. Yes, I'll be back. I'm definitely taking my daughter.

Google
This is the 3rd time we have had Tso delivered. Food was delicious and hot and order spot on. Delivered faster than stated every time. The green bean appetizer is scrumptious! Tried the chicken lettuce wraps as a main meal and it was the perfect portion. Plenty of crisp butter lettuce for scooping!

Google
Tso Chinese Takeout & Delivery is my go-to when I’m craving Chinese food that’s quick, fresh, and consistently delicious. The portions are generous, the flavors are spot-on, and delivery is always fast and reliable. I also love that they make it super easy to order online and the packaging keeps everything hot. Comfort food done right every time!

Lisa R.

Google
Delivery was fast and great updates during the process. First time trying this, and it was delicious. Pork fried rice and orange chicken is what I tried.

Yelp
Highly recommend!!! So far my favorite fried rice in Austin!!! They have a charred pork fried rice that is my favorite and their chicken wings are so amazing! We always order the chinese fried wings and they vanish in a quick minute haha! Good prices for their portions, flavor is always on point and they use vital eggs!! It wont disappoint
google avatar

Yelp
Very fast and convenient service. You order on kiosk, wait in lobby, then get your food. Food wasn't the best Chinese food, but the service and cute esthetics in the waiting area was great.

Teresa H.

Yelp
We called in for take out. It was fast and easy. The food was good and my two favorites were pork fried rice and the teriyaki chicken. Most of all the option of GLUTEN FREE at a Chinese restaurant is wonderful for me with my allergy.
google avatar

Tanesha M.

Yelp
Update: I ended up getting credit to try Tso again and went to this location. I can gladly say the food was much better. We got pork fried rice, general Tso chicken bowl, and pot stickers and each one was very fresh and hot. The service was very fast I want to say my food was ready like 10 minutes after placing the order and the customer service was great.
google avatar

Yelp
My go-to place for Chinese delivery. My favorite thing to get is the crab rangoons & either the orange chicken bowl or the broccoli beef bowl! The soups are also fun on the side. I love the no tipping policy too
google avatar

Yelp
FYI Owner posts comment about correcting issues and to contacting her under reviews to appear responsive but has not replied to email in over a week.

Natalie V.

Yelp
The owner appears responsive to negative reviews but the link she provided to contact does not work. Does not appear to concerned about her location serving spoiled food to their patrons. I have contacted the health department so they can hold them accountable.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is delicious and well prepared. I've not had any delivery issues. The price is reasonable. I'm ordering again today. Good stuff. Thanks so much !

Yelp
This may be the perfect restaurant of its type: delivery and takeout only, including an enormous variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The tiny, cheerful waiting area is useful when you arrive ahead of your assigned pickup time. No tipping policy strictly enforced, delicious orders ready when promised, a warming oven so that your food is piping hot when you arrive to pick it up. Jason makes me smile because he always remembers my name. Who does that these days? Several locations in the Austin area. As I said, the perfect restaurant of its type. You're welcome.
google avatar

Arian B.

Yelp
The General Tso's is soggy. Spring rolls are lovely, but the duck sauce tastes like nothing. The general chicken was ordered spicy and is not.
google avatar

Chantel G.

Yelp
It's like a ghost kitchen You order take out or order delivery I felt the service was quick for take out You can modify on the website Easy to pick up food when arrive I felt the food was mind nothing spectacular Definitely not restaurant quality more of a Panda Express to me from what I ordered The sauce didn't seem fresh *crab ragoons were great! Definitely would recommend tht u can taste n see the crab in them In all will give another try just to see Prices I felt were a little high for what was received
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
Tso Good doesn't just describe the food, but also the service. Ordered lunch and accidentally got a wrong entree. Jason was prompt and courteous, sending out a replacement meal in minutes. The food was hot and delicious! Can't wait to try other items in the future!
google avatar

Corwin S.

Yelp
Great value for $25 I got Sesame Chicken with the soup and spring roll combo and, Potstickers. All delivered in 30 min!
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
I tried this place today for takeout and Hayden was so helpful, he even took my order before they opened and brought it out to my car. The food was excellent, I had Kung pao chicken with Szechuan, green beans, fried rice, and hot and sour soup, all of it tasty and hot! Thank you Tao's for a great lunch and thank you Hayden!
google avatar

Taylor M.

Yelp
We used to love this place and we ordered it today, but the food was flavorless and awful. So sad, it used to be a great spot for takeout. The general Tsos and sesame noodles had NO flavor, and the beef was really gummy and weird. Skip this spot.
google avatar

Alex V.

Yelp
This is the brand new fourth location of this Austin company, so while you enjoy the ease and consistency of what feels like a national restaurant, you can feel good about supporting a local Asian family-run business. There are so many things to like about the food, like the crab rangoons that use real crab. I recommend the General Tso chicken since it's my favorite, but there are lots of good dishes that are all made fresh and don't sit under heat lamps. Since this is a delivery business the storefront has only a small area for pickups. But behind the front is a full modern kitchen with awesome induction woks that reduce the amount of heat in the kitchen while cooking everything so efficiently. And because everyone wants delivery anyway, I must say I love their philosophy on free delivery and no tipping. They have the technology to handle all the deliveries themselves, tracking and timing everything just right so they know what they're doing.

Yelp
We were looking for a new place to try for takeout and decided to try Tso, based on reviews. Not sure if we caught them on an off night, but the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because my spouse's beef and broccoli and the edamame were fresh and the order arrived quickly. My kung pao chicken on the other hand, had bell peppers that were at that stage of freshness where they were starting to turn sour. The sauces for both entrees were bland. The kung pao sauce wasn't spicy, even though I had selected spicy, and was not seasoned with any other notes other than salt. The beef and broccoli sauce was also bland and didn't taste of anything really at all. The edamame was very salty, at least the ones on top. Everything below that had no salt. Everything was cooked pretty much perfectly as far as doneness, but the inconsistency of seasoning and the overall blandness really disappointed. Doubly disappointing because it was not inexpensive and overall we felt this was not worth the cost.
google avatar

Bobbie N.

Yelp
I was so disappointed in the food. Not good at all. Very bland. The fried rice was more gummy and mushy. Thought I would try it since my favorite spot is quite a distance from my house. I will not be returning to Tso's.
google avatar

Path W.

Yelp
Easy ordering and food comes out fast. Very good for Chinese takeout and the people are kind. Not authentic being an Asian foodie but takeout worthy. This is my 2nd time ordering and recommend the green beans, kung pao chicken, honey walnut shrimp and combo lo mein.
google avatar

Jeanna L.

Yelp
Yes!... finally a Chinese Takeout that is not overly greasy with REAL chunks of chicken (not just breading) and BIG chunks of crab in the Rangoons. For years, I stayed away from Chinese food because it was hard to find one that hit all the checkpoints. You can tell their sole focus is on the food, not necessarily the experience. This is a ghost kitchen, so there is nowhere to walk into. The options are getting your food delivered or picking it up for take-out. The app to order is very user-friendly. Something fun and interesting is that they collaborate with other local restaurants to have a rotating feature item on the menu to bring different flavors together. I will order again!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
I have ordered twice now and both times the food was outstanding! Fresh and DELISCIOUS! I try to order more than one or two things each time so we can try everything they have. So far they are our favorite chinese restaurant! Also, they delivered on time! I wish I had taken more pictures to share. I only took this one to make my daughter jealous when she saw what we were having for dinner. LOL

Yelp
Worst attempt at Chinese food I've ever experienced! Walked in to pick up at the Round Rock, Tx location and everyone looked at me like I wasn't expected. Never greeted me, nothing just leaning on the equipment visiting each other until I literally had to ask if my order was ready, they never said a word! I ordered Beef & Broccoli and General Tao's Chicken and this meat is old, dark, hard, and tough and I can literally taste the freezer burn on the broccoli. So reseal the bag/box when you're done! Oh and there's way more batter than chicken! Very clean location is all I can say but I'll never go back because this is horrible when we paid $30 for 2 basic simple to go dishes!

Lauren S.

Yelp
I've never eaten there but I always order delivery and it's great every single time. Tasty, packed well, good portions and fair pricing.
google avatar

Amber W.

Yelp
Tonight I FINALLY got to have tso delivered to me! I've been waiting what seems like forever for this location to open! The crab rangoons, spring rolls and pot stickers were still hot and fresh and so tasty. I also ordered hot and sour and egg drop soups. Not a complaint, but a preference, I would probably order no green onion next time because there is a lot and I'm not a big onion fan. But the soups are a generous size for the price and loaded up! Can't wait to order entrees for my next order.
google avatar

Jeremiah G.

Yelp
1st time ordering from here. It was really good and there was flavor. I just wish the orange chicken was not soggy. It should be a lil crispy. Over all though it was good

Roberta H.

Yelp
The first time we ordered, it was delicious. The second time, we ordered delivery and the lid had come off one entree creating a huge mess and it wasn't that great. Today, I picked up our order and the food was terrible. Zero flavor. Additionally, no one in there spoke English. You guys need to reevaluate what you're doing.
google avatar

Danielangel V.

Yelp
I can't believe I just stumbled onto this place. The Lo Mein had fresh veggies, and made it that much better, the General Tao chicken IS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!!!! Now I've eaten at several Chinese places and some good, some hohum, but a lot of the times, the food was soggy or rubbery. NOT this place, and it is a must try you all, and it doesn't hurt your pockets either!!!!
google avatar

Trent N.

Yelp
Basic American Chinese. Panda Express is better. Chicken tastes microwaved, lathered in fry batter and mediocre sauce. Also the rice is the same rice they use at all the Mexican restaurants.... idk if all of Texas accepts this style of food but ive been to sketchier hole in the walls that were 4.5stars across this country.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Been here before and I felt like some things have changed since my last visit. The "Minute Rice" was definitely noticeable. No flavor, no seasonings, NOTHING AT ALL! The tofu was ok- but the portion size is so small for the price. Also, as far as the crab Rangoon, I feel as though more were served in an order. They charge $8 for 4- making them $2 a piece. Not worth it at all. 3 stars for "freshness of food and cleanliness of restaurant."
google avatar

Jim F.

Yelp
Blue Crab Rangoon is amazing. More crab than any where else and cooked perfectly. Definitely the go to for Rangoon.
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
I am from WA where Asian food is like Mexican food here... I have lived here for 3 years and couldn't find any Asian food even semi-decent. This place is fantastic. I wish they had more customizable options (I order the sweet and sour chicken sauce on the side but I wish there was a no veggies option or veggies on side option). Their lo mein is the best I've had anywhere in TX. They also offer very cheap and fast delivery.
google avatar

Damali V.

Yelp
There's a reason why this place is somewhat highly rated. Clearly people enjoy the food. That is why I chose this place for the first time. Even the lady I spoke to waiting for her takeout said so. I should have asked what she ordered. What I ordered was so disappointingly non-delicious. I had the Honey Walnut Shrimp. The mayonnaise sauce they use was just nasty. It reminded me of Miracle Whip. I detest Miracle Whip. The broccoli was the best part about it but I had to wife the mayonnaise sauce off. I also ordered the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. The flavor was okay but it had way too many peas and water chestnuts for my liking. I went all out and ordered the spicy green beans. They were also okay, just not enough chili for me. Haven't been in a while but I remember liking the ones at PF Chang's. Just to clarify, neither Tso nor PF Chang's are authentic Chinese but at least PF Chang's has flavor. I'd much rather go to Panda Express than Tso. What sealed it for me when my side order of lo mein noodles and fried rice were painfully yucky. The noodles had no texture and overly soft. The fried rice! How can you mess up fried rice?? There was such a horrible after taste! It was like vinegar or something with no hint of sesame oil. I threw those away. I hate to say these bad things but I am being completely honest about my opinion. I wish I hadn't splurged and just tried ordering one thing to try it out because that was an expensive bill especially when I was so dissatisfied and disappointed. I can tell they are really nice in there tho.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Always quick on delivery, delicious food, good portion size! Just wish they would change up the menu more often

Melissa S.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place but after nearly 40 minutes in the car, the food showed up barely warm. Sesame chicken was soggy and tough, broccoli was completely overcooked and brownish looking. Crab rangoons taste was decent but sogginess really took away from them. Potstickers were just ok. Pork fried rice was really the only very good thing I had. All in all, very disappointing. Maybe if I had driven the 12 minutes to get there, it would've been better. 3 stars is for the fried rice.

Justin L.

Yelp
Initially liked it but recently in the last two months, it's been gross. Not clean from what I saw when I picked up last, dirty rags, spilled messes, etc. Rice tasted burnt and had hard flakes. I wouldn't trust the food here anymore. May return eventually but not for now.
google avatar

Kat T.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service is first rate! Delivery time was quoted to be an hour but it took less than 20 minutes!! I'm so grateful that Tso is in my neighborhood Keep up the great work!
google avatar

Cece H.

Yelp
My mom and I wanted some good Chinese food since we hadn't had any in a long time. So I suggested we try this place since the reviews were so good. I ordered the bok choy w/ brown sauce and the orange chicken with broccoli. My mom ordered the crab ragoons and shrimp fried rice. We both were disappointed with our meals. My chicken was cooked hard and had no flavor. Her rice okay but the shrimp tasted weird. The service was good. I just don't think we will be back as a customer.

Tea B.

Yelp
We KNOW good Chinese! And this IS NOT "IT"!!! Pea's-Pea's, carrots and MORE Pea's! It taste like MANUFACTURED FAST FOOD. Absolutely flavorless. Fried rice was undercooked. Hot & Sour soup was weak watery. The Egg drop soup tasted like an instant packet with guess...lots of Pea's. The house combination Lo Mein was over cooked-flavorless loaded with peas, carrots and a ton of red pepper strips if you are into that kind of thing? But that is NOT Chinese tradition! We have lived in San Francisco and eaten all through China Town. I have also lived in Seattle and have eaten all through that China Town as well, and all around every major city in the U.S and I can tell you this does not cut-it. I'm only comparing them to small, family owned, hole in the wall to die for authentic Chinese food. You would seriously get a better meal at the Chinese chain with the Panda Bear!! Bai-bai
google avatar

Brianna J.

Yelp
I've ordered from here a few times now, and my one star off is because I have received an issue with my order almost every time. However, the four stars left are because they always handle the situation very well. I think they are busting orders out so fast, there has to be some sort of human error. In the past, they've corrected issues with a credit. Tonight they forgot a part of my order and went ahead and sent someone out again to deliver the missing side to me. They were over extremely quickly and they even included a dessert as an apology for their mistake. Excellent service. The food is pretty good for the price and convenience factor. It's always pretty consistent and I have found my favorites. Will definitely order again!

Kate S.

Yelp
Wonderful sting beans and potstickers!! I was needing something other than the Kalahari Resort offerings and this was a win! Somewhat healthy and way less expensive than resort food. Flavors were perfectly balanced.
google avatar

Hammond H.

Yelp
This is our "go to" Chinese Takeout Restaurant in Central Austin. They consistently deliver great dishes in a timely manner. The Beef & Broccoli and the large Won Ton soup is awesome. Also, the Veggie Delight is good as well. I have never had a bad dish from them and highly recommend them for Takeout. Oh, and no tipping necessary!
google avatar

Cassie H.

Yelp
Tried Tso for the first time and their business model is one that many others should file suit! I got the general tso chicken, salt and pepper shrimp, and their crab rangoons. All three were pretty good! We added egg rolls and soup for one of the entrees, and our total came up to 50 dollars.... Including delivery! They have a standard delivery fee of $5 and they do not accept tips.. because... they actually pay their employees competitive fair wages! This is such a breath of fresh air as I feel like tipping culture has been out of control lately. I can see ourselves ordering from this place more often from now on. The whole experience gives out easy Chinese takeout night kinda vibe which I absolutely love.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
I have been struggling to find decent Chinese in the Round Rock/Georgetown area since I have moved here, and am delighted to be able to leave this review. I had heard about them in Austin and was so excited to see we finally have a location up north. Highlights: Delivery process was quick and easy, no fees or tipping. Amazing. Food was delivered well before the ETA and arrived hot and fresh. Driver was very pleasant. Food: Rangoon's are a must have. You can def tell that they use real crab, and they are packed. Spring rolls are solid. Just your typical fresh good fried spring roll. Drunken Noodles and General Tso's were nailed. Veggies on the noodles were incredibly fresh. Portion sizes are fair. Def a pricier option, but considering there are no delivery fees or tipping involved...I didn't mind their price point. 10/10 Finally found my place.
google avatar

Nancy N.

Yelp
We decided to give this place a try and it was great! We ordered drunken noodles with beef, combination fried rice, hot & sour soup, and cheese puffs! They were all freshly made and there's left overs for tomorrow!! Definitely coming back!!!!!

Larry C.

Yelp
Very, Very, Overpriced food. Their gimmick when they first opened was No Delivery Fee and No Tipping, so I could validate the overpriced food. NOW THEY CHARGE FOR DELIVERY, and it's set fee of $5.00., So your lunch plate just went from $15.95 to $22.68 (tax included). The portions are not big so you are not getting 2 meals out of your lunch plate. I do not support this business and encourage others to support local authentic chinese restaurants instead of this chain restaurant!

Veronica M.

Yelp
Quality of food exceeded our expectations. It was a good experience once we understood the ordering and pickup process. You cannot eat-in this is take-out only. You also have to order your food online, you are unable to call it in.
google avatar

Shane L.

Yelp
Super good. So we accidentally got someone else's order 3 nights ago and I have to say, it was the bestest!! Not something we would normally have ordered but now we know that ordering "extra spices" is extra delicious!!! Our orders were comparable price wise and portions so I don't feel bad for the other persons who got our order. But it was SCREAMING GOOD!!!
google avatar

Bonnie E.

Yelp
I have ordered two times now.. Craving good Chinese food and both times y'all Delivered.. Both times the Drivers/delivery person were Awesome.. Friendly & Kind .. and NOT creepy, which is very important to me. Food was delicious, hot.. and totally what I was looking for. Thank you! Btw I had their Fun noodle entree, Beef peppers entree and Potstickers.. Yummy!

Janice J.

Yelp
I love that they have gluten free options!! They also have an easy-to-order website and they're usually prompt with the time they estimate food to be ready.
