The World's Most Beautiful Alpine Lakes

"This cobalt blue lake is set within India’s Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve, a wildlife-rich area home to 34 species of birds (black neck cranes, golden eagles, great crested grebe) along with elusive snow leopards and Tibetan gray wolves. It’s a popular destination for outdoor adventurers and pilgrims who come to camp in the Korzok Village and visit the town’s 400-year-old monastery."

It's one of the world's highest sweet water lakes . The place is still offbeat and offers a pristine and quiet environment. The place has not been commercialised like Pangong Lake . But a visit to Tso Moriri is a must. Karzok is the place to stay near this lale.

The best place in my opinion if you are visiting Ladakh. A must visit from my side. Quiet and mesmerising at the same time. No network or Internet connectivity. Great place to spend a day. Also we had a great experience the day that we visited as there was a ceremony in the local monastery and a very young 4 year old Ringpoche was visiting and we had the fortunate of seeing him.

Beautiful place. Absolutely breathtaking. But brace for the cold. We reached our hotel at 4 pm and we were cold to our bones. We barely could walk from the room to the restaurant. We survived on heating pads and warm clothes. The area is very windy. We found it hard to control our bikes in certain areas. The scenery brings a lot of tourists this way. The route is tarred and the place is safe to travel.

Tso Moriri or Moriri Lake is one of the most beautiful high altitude lakes in India, located nearly 15,000 ft above the sea level. If you go to Tso Moriri be prepared for chilly gusts of wind, I personally felt it was colder than Pangong Lake during my visit here. A very small number of homestays, hotels and tents are available, so please book before your arrival. The most beautiful part of this picturesque lake is this is surrounded by 'Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve' and its green grassland around the blue coloured lake and snow capped yellowish brown mountain range in the backdrop makes it more attractive and spectacular. This wetland reserve is maintained by locals, tour operators and armed forces officially and voluntarily. The best time to visit is during August and September, if you are going on a clear sky sunny day the lake will give you a magnificent view to remember forever.

Peaceful and Beautiful Lake. Make sure you have enough rest and get your body to the altitude. Be prepared for a sandstorm at top of the viewpoint.

Mesmerising experience Tso moriri is surrounded with many small lakes as well. The colours of this lake are very vibrant. The number of tourists here are near to 0. Very peaceful and refreshing. The road to tso moriri is very good 👍🏻

This is a beautiful lake at a higher altitude than Pangong Tso but reaching here would be a slight task since this doesn’t fall in the general tourist route. The roads are under construction and may take a toll on your vehicle. There are decent stays in Korzok but don’t expect fancy places here nor fancy eat outs. Much of the lake shore is cordoned off for general public and one needs to find a sweet spot to access lake waters. There are view points though at higher level to sit and enjoy the scenery. Glacial mountains in the background add to the overall beauty.
