Four of us went to dinner on Wednesday the 11th at 6 PM. We walked in the bar had a private party but the young man behind the bar waited on us and told us just to let him know if we needed anything else while we waited for our second couple to join us. At 6:15 we were seated after they arrived and our server said her name was Brittnie.
Since my husband and I had never been there she explained all the specials. Explain the one special and then allowed us to all just settle down and enjoy our drinks while we looked through the menu. She came back and we decided to try some appetizers! We started off with some Cisotaki-thin slices of seared USDA choice tenderloin with Ponzu Sriracha and Ciso sauce. Ika fries-Fried strips of calamari tenderloin served with tsurai sauce & eggplant miso, tempura flowered eggplant and shrimp tossed in a sweet miso sauce!! Everyone loved those three choices for the apps. Then she came back and explained some of the different roles and Nigiri!
We chose several items because there was four of us. The rolls we chose were the Leon special which is temp shrimp, snow crab, cream cheese, cucumber, topped with Kani crunchies. Tsunami and Tsurai sauces! Second what is the happy feet which is tuna, temp shrimp, snow crab, cucumber, jalapeño, soy wrapped, topped with salmon, kani, baked crispy onions, tsunami and kazan sauces!
And followed by transbestbite-it is no rice, mints spicy tuna, tamp shrimp, kani, Cream cheese, asparagus, soy wrapped and Panko fried with plum, ponzu, & Tsurai sauce!!
And as if that wasn't enough we figured why not go all out since it's our first time and get three different of the Nigiri sushi!!
We selected the tuna, the smoked salmon, and the octopus. Everyone loved this dinner. We also ended it with some hot purple sake. Probably the best feature of our meal and our evening was our server Brittnie! She came back many times made sure that our drinks were always filled and if we had any question she was there to answer them. She made us laugh many times and it was an all-around great evening.
I suggest if you're going to tsunami in Lafayette you ask for her to be your server you won't regret it.
Now a funny story to end this great night. So, by the end of the evening everybody is pretty liquored up except for one person lol! My husband picked up the tab and he wrote a tip of $24 looked again and thought he changed it to 44. In the middle the night he woke me saying you have to take money tomorrow back to the restaurant I think I cheated our server we laughed about it. I called the next morning spoke to Mike the manager who laughed and said it's not a big deal I told him we were bringing in $40 extra because we felt very embarrassed!!! Lol
Then I called the friends that we went to dinner with and they said they saw that my husband had only written $24 and figured it was the sake. Lol
So they left her $20. Lol
I went back the following morning Mike the manager let her know. I left an envelope with a note explaining what happened and $40, so she ended up making $84 on a $200 plus table! Which she deserved! I put my phone number in there and she text me telling me it wasn't a big deal she thought it was funny when she found out what it happened and she couldn't wait to see us again! So, we will be going back because she didn't make it uncomfortable or embarrassing for us. Neither did Mike Who said they have never received a phone call from someone saying I think I owe my server more money. So if you're ever in Lafayette I suggest you go downtown and hit tsunami
You won't regret it!
