Tu Kab Khao in Phuket Old Town ended up being one of those spots that feels a little fancy but still homey. It’s inside this old Sino-Portuguese house with velvet chairs and high ceilings, and honestly just a nice place to sit down after walking around the street market. The vibe is laid-back, and our server, Kan, couldn’t have been nicer, she kept checking in on us, explained a couple of dishes, and just made the whole thing feel even better.
Food-wise, the pork belly stew was the star, tender, rich, and exactly the kind of comforting dish you want with rice. The salt and chili prawns were another favorite, with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Nothing felt overdone, just simple dishes cooked really well. Between the atmosphere, the food, and Kan’s friendliness, it’s definitely a place I’d go back to next time I’m in Phuket.
