Tu Kab Khao Restaurant Phuket

Tu Kab Khao in Phuket Old Town ended up being one of those spots that feels a little fancy but still homey. It’s inside this old Sino-Portuguese house with velvet chairs and high ceilings, and honestly just a nice place to sit down after walking around the street market. The vibe is laid-back, and our server, Kan, couldn’t have been nicer, she kept checking in on us, explained a couple of dishes, and just made the whole thing feel even better. Food-wise, the pork belly stew was the star, tender, rich, and exactly the kind of comforting dish you want with rice. The salt and chili prawns were another favorite, with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Nothing felt overdone, just simple dishes cooked really well. Between the atmosphere, the food, and Kan’s friendliness, it’s definitely a place I’d go back to next time I’m in Phuket.

My mom and I were at this place a year ago in Phuket and ordered a pannacotta with strawberry and fell in love in one moment! Today we were together with a whole family and decided to order the best traditional dishes and also try a dish in a pineapple. It was so delicious and wonderful! Recommend this place!😍❤️🍜Also, the service of the Kan is the greatest.

The way the restaurant was decorated makes you feel you're entering a traditional thai house. Tried several phuket dishes and all of it were delicious. They could improve more with service given that there are a lot of customers at all times. Food came very fast yet the wait to get the bill and clearing the table took a while. It is recommended to make a reservation to eat here.

I love the decor of this restaurant! It is beautiful! The service was good but I felt a little bit rushed. We are a group of 6 and the waiter came back a few times to ask us if we were ready to order when I already mentioned that I needed two more minutes. In a good way they are very efficient. Once the order is made, the food came so quickly. The food is good but not wow. It’s been a week that I had thai food 3 meals per day in Phuket. The deep fried fish was very delicious. However the pineapple rice was disappointing as it was dry. The tom yum soup lack of flavour compared to other tom yum soup I had. Overall, it is a nice ambiance of restaurant, l the food I ordered was good but not exceptional.

The restaurant located at Phuket old town serves some authentic Thai dishes with other pan Asian cuisine options. A must visit if you're a tourist to experience the local cuisine. The place is well lit & decorated with an orthodox Thai look. The Thai Green curry with roti/rice, fish cake, crab cakes tasted excellent.

Tu Kab Khao had a really lovely atmosphere—it felt just like being inside a beautifully decorated Thai home, warm and welcoming. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food overall was really good. We tried the signature pork belly stew and the Tom Yum soup, and both were excellent—flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the Thai-style fried dumplings we ordered—unfortunately, they just didn’t hit the mark. The texture and flavor were off, and they didn’t match the quality of the rest of the meal. Still, we’d definitely recommend Tu Kab Khao for the ambiance and standout dishes like the stew and soup.

Disappointing experience. The restaurant was overcrowded and noisy, and the service was unfriendly and rushed. Food was average and overpriced. Definitely not worth the hype.
