Love it ! The hot Cheetos mozzarella are worth it ! The service was amazing definitely coming back!

Was down in the South Bay Area with my husband and two kids. We needed something quick to eat so decided to stop in at Tu Tú Taco. The restaurant was empty. Menu was limited and no kid friendly options. The lady at the restaurant was very friendly. Ordered rolled tacos and two plain birria tacos. Food was ok but I can't get past the fact that they have a speaker in the dining area blaring loud rap music. I enjoy some good rap but not when I'm dining with my 4 and 9 year olds, it's like read the room. In the 20 minutes we were there, the songs had the "F" and "N" word, Ho and b****es. It's like come on, you have one family in your restaurant, change the music. I wasn't going to leave a review but I would like the owner to get my feedback.

Rolled up to Tu Taco Taco Shop down in Chula Vista the other day during lunch hour looking to inhale a grip of their renowned Flaming Hot Birria Ballz. The hot cheeto king rules over a friendly comfortable joint with a soulful vibe. Plenty of imaginative supper choices for the most hungriest patron. Service is efficient and professional. Food is made to order; fresh, abundant, & well prepared. Prices are fair and honest. This establishment rocks on the daily. Full and hearty recommendation. Stoner Grub Rank: 9.2

Really good Mexican food. I travel 30+ mins to eat their flamin hot Cheetos balls. Everything I've ordered has been amazing. Their flamin hot menu is the best in San Diego. Definitely recommend the flamin hot tacos and balls.

Third Time here and I got to admit, Their "Flaming Hot Cheeto Mozzarella Sticks" are on my top 3! Great appetizer! definitely trying other Hot Cheeto Mexican food infusion plates!!! Friendly service and a chill environment.

Average at best. They're known for their hot Cheetos covered burritos and honestly not really interested in that. What I am interested in is a good burrito, with seasoned meats and good flavor, and if it covers in hot Cheetos and you like that, than that's an extra plus. I ordered a carne Asada burrito to go and when I got home it was cold. That was my first thought that this probably isn't going to be good. The carne Asada was flavorless. All I could taste was the pico de Gallo and parts where I put salsa. The meat was tender and easy to chew, but lacked any seasoning. Maybe it was a bad batch, but unlikely I'd come back.

My friend & I were hyped about their birria balls & cheese balls. Ran into the page on Instagram, when we first got there they had NO WATER they said not even to sell or serve. The cashier that helped us out stayed on her phone, was late on our order, & kept forgetting to bring our stuff out. When my friend & I got home we ended up very ill, food poisoning is not the business. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Gave this place another shot today, tried the carne asada fries, once again the meat was dry and had to put a bunch of sauces in order to get flavor. It took about 5 minutes to get helped out at the registers so the service was mediocre. The ambiance was dead, there was no one In there. I tried this place 3 times In the past years hoping for some change. It's the same dry food, overhyped hot Cheetos... so much for the hot Cheeto king. This place is bad.

I got there hot Cheeto birria bombs and let me start by saying they were just reheated and not made fresh one . Second after I took a bite I immediately had diarrhea. This place is trash I'll never return

Absolutely terrible tasting carne asada. Went with the flaming hot mozzarella sticks and flaming hot carne asada fries for the first time. Both were flavorless and flaming hot Cheetos were definitely knock offs and the sauces didn't help. I been in San Diego for 14 years and gave it a try. First and last time.

Ambiance is cool. It's definitely a "hip" but small dining room. The service was fast, you can see the cook making the food and the service was fast. Food is very fresh and the owner was around, helping guests pick out food on the menu witch is always nice.

This place is solely for the aesthetics of hot Cheetos with your Mexican meals. My husband got the carne asada fries and they were over cooked and extremely hard. The cheeses wasn't fully melted. To say the least , we threw away half of the order . They definitely tripled fried the fries causing the fries to be extremely tooth breaking. Also the Horchata we got was watery.

I found out about Tu Taco Taco Shop on Instagram of their Flaming Hot items (i.e. Flamin Hot Burrito and Flamin Hot Mozzarella Sticks). Pictures looked fun and really good to eat. *MOUTH WATERS* My friend and I went on a Saturday night in September 2020 to order pickup / takeout. We tried both the Flamin Hot Burrito and Flamin Hot Mozzarella Sticks. I also ordered another Flamin Hot Burrito for me, but ended up with the Flamin Hot Fries. The cashier misheard me through my facemask. I had asked her for suggestions on popular items and she had suggested fries, so I guess that was at the top of her mind. Hahaha. #FacemaskProblems Overall, liked it - but flavors didn't wow me; both my friend and I felt like it needed something (like a lemon or lime to cut the grease, meat, and spicy flavors). The flavors on the Flamin Hot Fries tasted the same as the Flamin Hot Burrito. Flamin Hot Mozzarella Sticks are a MUST GET item. The rest (burrito & fries), for me, was good to try for novelty purposes. Found a hair in my Cheeto burrito unacceptable what is that, no hair nets ? Like what ?

The food is alright not ready good tbh , i don't see what the big hype is about ! Also they wear NO gloves or mask here !!! Not very sanitize if you ask me I seen the cashier handle money in the register and went back to do sauces . The Cook in the back had no gloves or mask that's how cross-contamination happens We are in a pandemic soo Atleast try to be more organize and be more safe !!

I venture out to the southern edge of the country in search of tacos. I remember my mom use to visit one of her friends out here. It was quiet and there was lots of open space. Now it's quiet and there is abundant parking in this strip mall. Inside Tu Taco I find a good variety of tacos to choose from. Carne asada taco featured nicely marinated beef which was tender and had a good char. Adobada has a spicy kick and good char. Fried shredded beef taco had a crunchy shell and generous amount of tender well marinated beef. Fish taco had a big piece of battered fish which had a light flavor complimented by the seasoned batter. Tasted like cod and had that smooth texture cod has. Beef rolled taco had the same well marinated beef as the shredded beef taco. Crunchy corn tortilla shell. I'd prefer more beef though as this rolled taco had a high tortilla to beef ratio. Pollo asada taco had had a nice flavor from the seasoning and the light char. Pollo adobada taco had a spicy kick. My fav taco here is the carne asada taco as I loved the flavors of the slightly sweet marinade and the char came together to make for a really delicious taco. Shredded beef taco was a close 2nd as I do love crunchy tacos with lots of juicy beef. Pollo asada taco comes in 3rd as I enjoyed the flavors of the surprisingly juicy chicken. I loved the greasy soft tortillas on the soft tacos which had a light corn flavor. I remember the great Chinese food they use to serve at the Tea Pot Inn out here. That was one of the coolest things when I was a kid and my mom's friend owned a restaurant so I could check out the kitchen and try stuff. Next time I'm in Chula Vista I'll visit Victor and eat more of his delicious tacos.

The flamin' hot Cheetos menu sounded intriguing and a bit intimidating all at the same time. So I was a tiny bit apprehensive about trying it out, however my curiosity won out and I was pleasantly rewarded with the genius combination of ingredients. We were fortunate enough to get to meet and chat with the owner Victor. When you love what you do you never really work a minute in your life and this sentiment is readily apparent in Victor's sunny personality and intensity for his food.Each menu item I've tasted is unique and inspires continued curiosity and enthusiasm to order a new creation on each visit. First visit I ordered the Flamin' hot burrito (includes Asada and cheese with the flamin' hot Cheetos wrapped in an additional flour tortilla with cheese surrounding the outside of the burrito making a nice red circle) and the Trojan burrito (includes Adobada, French fries, sour cream, bacon, guacamole, cheese and chipotle). Each burrito was superbly made with layered flavors. My favorite is definitely the flamin' hot burrito because the combination of the cheeto flavor with cheese is just sublime. Second visit I ordered the Mulitas in Asada and Pollo Asado. Both include cheese, cilantro, onions and guacamole on a corn tortilla. Three homemade sauces are offered, my favorite was the green bottle. For my next visit I'll have to order the flamin' hot fries or the surf and turf fries from the Fries menu. They also offer Chimichangas, rolled Tacos, Quesadillas, combinations with rice and beans, breakfast Burritos, Tostadas, Tortas, Tacos and Cheese sticks. Each mouthwatering out of the ordinary combination is sure to please the palate.

The fish tacos here were horrible. Just horrible. They use frozen fish sticks straight from the super market. Super disappointed. I also bought the carne asada plate, and it was bad. The guacamole was watered down, and they served a very small amount of dry chopped up carne asada. But the fish tacos were the biggest disappointment. If they want to use frozen fish sticks, they might as well take fish off of their menu. It's such a disrespect to the customer who expects real fish tacos.

Really wish I could this place 0 stars.. My friends and I drove from the OC to try this place out. I have my usual Mexican spot nearby but my friend told me about it and I was interested in trying it out. The menu looked good so I pumped my self up for it. PSA: There are no restrooms in the restaurant or nearby. Make sure you use it before you come here or else it's a longer drive to find one. I ordered the flaming hot fries and two tacos (one chicken and one asada) on the side. The tortillas were stale and hard. My friends and I shared the fries. The fries were cold and not as flavorful as we expected. We didn't finish them and threw them out because of how bad they were. I also got agua de Jamaica but it came with no ice..talk about stingy. As we're eating a young man comes in and asks about the prices. The cook ringing him up states "If your order is under $10 you are charged a .65 cents fee." I'm assuming that applies to the use of credit cards. My order that consisted of two tacos and flaming hot fries was a total of $17.69 and I was still charged the credit card fee. I know .65 cents is only .65 cents and I didn't want to make a big deal out of it until my friend told me she mad two transactions. Her first order was under $10 and was charged the .65 cent fee. But when she went to go order a $2.35 drink she was NOT charged the credit card fee. There's no sign nor did the owner / cashier state there was a credit card fee. I would have simply have used my cash if they told me. I went ahead and asked the cook since he was up there and he stated the fee is for use of ALL credit card use. So why did he tell that young man it was only if your order was under $10??? I didn't bother to make a scene so I left it at that. Overall, the customer service by the OWNER and his cook was horrible. I am very disappointed and don't recommend this taco place.

I hate to be harsh on my neighborhood taco shop, but it really is just OK. On a positive note, their tacos are definitely on the cheaper side - $1.65 for most options. I also like how they oil up the tacos and slap them on the grill, leaving you with a somewhat crispy and flavorful tortilla. The meat portions in their tacos aren't the greatest though. There are two unique taco options here - the Taco Perron and Chimitaco. The Taco Perron is a whole dollar more and it's really just carne asada and adobada mixed together. You otherwise get the same scant portions. Workers are friendly enough, but are definitely still in the learning phase. For instance, a worker had no clue what meat was in the Taco Perron when I asked and had to bust out a notebook to look it up. I also had ordered a Chimitaco but no one working knew how to make it neither did anyone they were able to call and get a hold of. They did ask if I wanted something else to replace it and they were totally alright with me changing it to the Taco Perron (which was maybe 30 cents more). Overall, okay neighborhood taco shop when you're too lazy to drive somewhere further.

This is a hole in the wall taco joint with some pizazz. They add hot Cheeto powder to almost everything. The hot Cheeto burrito was good, but too much tortilla for my liking. The way they make it is with 2 layers of tortilla with the hot Cheeto powder in between. Overall, it was a decent burrito. The quesadilla was on the dry side. I think it maybe needed more cheese. Worth a try if you like hot Cheetos and burritos!

All the hyped for the "flaming menu" and yes I went for it The food was horrible! barely any hot Cheetos in my burrito don't get me started on the cold cheese, mozzarella sticks were Cold AF! The hot balls COLD CHEESE YUCK! My roll tacos COLD AND SOGGY omg did I mention COLD Ruined my appetite!

Couldn't be more happy with my meal. It was our first time trying this taco shop, as taco shop fanatics this is definitely one of our top choices now! We had the infamous flaming hot burrito and can't say enough great things about it. The meat was so fresh and amazing quality, our only issue was it was piping hot we were too eager to wait to let it cool down! We will definitely be coming here again! Great service !

If you want a $10 pollo asado burrito with a tiny, spoon full of chicken, then this is the spot to go to! Smallest pollo burrito I've seen.

This place sucks. The food is decent, not great or good. We waited 25 minutes for our food and we received the wrong order. We placed a order for buffalo chicken fries. We ended up getting carne Asada fries and we dealt with it because we did not want to wait another half hour. We also ordered the hot cheetos mozzarella sticks. What a mistake. 3 of them were hollow. The ones that did have cheese were actually good. The rest of the food was very bland. The horchata is also watered down too. This place sucks but I'm giving it a 3 for good food portion and having okay food. Now updating this review because I was charged a $0.65 credit card fee without being told and no signs of charge. Also, woke up at 3AM with the runs. That food went right thru me and literally killed my insides. I have no idea what they do to the food.

Gave 1 star only because I had to give a star other Wise 0 stars Victor the owner is extremely rude... we asked for a couple items on the side for a $56 order and he acted like it was extremely complicated and impossible when other taco shops accommodate side orders perfectly... he not only skipped our order he put bacon on Carniasada fries which was gross and we had to pick the bacon out, and he didn't give us any forks or napkins we called him to let him know he said come get your money back and when we went back he gave us $5 dollars... i'm letting the owner of the building know what kind of business is going on in his plaza... Victor shouldn't be in the food business he's not very intelligent nor knows what he's doing our money was wasted there we basically just threw $56 away

Came here for the California burrito wrapped in a Flaming Hot Cheeto cheese quesadilla. Saw the Burrito on world star Hip and told myself I have to have this burrito. The burrito was very tasty and delicious just how I predicted. This place is the home of different kind flamin hot Cheeto Mexican food.The line was pretty long for a taco shop but went by very fast. Service was great just one issue was seating but that was because we had a huge group. Very good taco shop will be making my way back here again.

I was very disappointed with my last visit here. So much, that I will not be returning. I was disgusted from the moment I entered all the way up till I got home with the food. I should have gone with my gut and left, instead I wasted $20 on garbage, and had an upset stomach all day. I walked in to the shop to have my eardrums blown out by the music. It was sooo loud, I had to yell to give my order. The guy at the register was not helpful and in fact, just upright rude. I asked about a couple items, and he seemed annoyed with me. So I quickly made a decision and ordered the 5 rolled tacos and the flamin hot Cheetos burrito. I paid $16.08 for 2 items. I was charged $0.68 for using a credit card and was not notified of this fee. I looked at the counter, I looked around for a sign notifying me of this charge and found nothing. Had I'd known prior to paying, I would have used cash. We waited outside for our order due to the blasting music, and 10+ minutes later we heard yelling. We looked in and our order was ready. We took our food and headed home to eat our overpriced crap. The rolled tacos were rock hard, and way over fried. There was no biting into one or even cutting it with a knife. It was too hard and too crispy to even enjoy. The meat was super dry from being over cooked and was like eating dry leaves. The guacamole on top was so watered down that I am not even sure there was 1/8 of avocado in there. Super disgusting I couldn't even stomach it. The flamin hot Cheetos burrito was even worse. The entire burrito was filled with thick, stale, and dry, steak fries. There was maybe 5 pieces of meat in the entire burrito. There was a thin paste layer of Cheetos, sprinkles of cheese and chipotle sauce. F-ing terrible!!!! My wife opened it up because she said there wasn't any meat in one side. And she was right. After eating some fries and the 5 pieces of meat, the burrito was thrown away. I shouldn't have even eaten a couple of fries and tortilla, because I got super sick from doing that. If you want good quality Mexican food don't come here. They are known for using flammin hot Cheetos on their items, but it's so not worth trying. Buy yourself a bag of hot Cheetos and sprinkle the crumbs on good food you buy somewhere else. That way you can try it for yourself. It's a good idea, but poor food and quality here. Read the reviews, and check out the pictures. Or else, find out for yourself and get robbed and left disappointed and hungry. Do yourself a favor, save your money and don't come here.

This place is disgusting! They gave me rotten limes and very old hard rice. I called to have it replaced and they said i could buy a new one if i wanted. Rude people and disgusting food!

I had TTTS when they were barely starting and the food was great! The flamin hot burrito was loaded with everything making it very good. Yesterday I went in and i was completely disappointed. I hate when a restaurant starts off doing very well to get clients but then they start to make Poor quality food just because they started gaining more attention. Overall very disappointed. Burrito was more tortilla than actual meat. The second layer of burrito was not much cheese and Cheetos were soggy. Flamin hot fries were not good. Not much flavor. Fries were soggy from so much oil. I'm sorry, instead of promoting to go to this spot, I will recommend not to go here.

Buyer beware. Prices on the menu do not match what they charge you. Bought a Carne asada burro which is $9.75, but was charged $11.50 because supposedly they haven't updated the menu.

I finally tried the famous FLAMIN' HOT CHEETO CALIFORNIA BURRITO. My friend and I have been waiting for a long time and drove all the way to Chula Vista for this. Long story short- would do it again. :) If Yelp allowed, I'd give the burrito a 3.5 stars. Hot cheeto flavor is very faint in between the outer layers of burrito. When I ate the first half of my, I was super hyped and didn't process properly. Upon eating the second half later that night, realized the burrito was kinda dry with a lot more fries and burrito layers than meat. Caught myself reaching for water and sauce multiple times. Although, props to the chef who wrapped everything together nice and tight in a soft, warm, flaky tortilla. What's worse than a burrito that falls apart? How I would order next time: 1 Flamin Hot Cheeto CA burrito Extraaaa chipotle sauce ($1 for extra sauce, otherwise) Extra hot cheeto shavings

This is the only spot to get a hot Cheeto burrito. And do yourself the favor of getting extra chipotle sauce on the side The flour tortilla is soft and smooth. The sauce isn't super overwhelming with Mayo flavor- it is rich with chipotle tang. The meat is tender and high quality ! Perks - owner victor is cool Af. Me and my boyfriend always come here for burritos and love to say hi ! Cool dude and cares about his customers. Parking is pretty easy too as long as you don't go when it's too busy.

I used to order here all the time but I just literally almost cracked my tooth eating a bean and cheese burrito that had a rock in it. I called and they basically got an attitude saying that was a bean seed. I've eaten probably a hundred bean and cheese burritos and that's never happened to me. I'm going to try to post a video...it is ROCK HARD and easily could've chipped or cracked my tooth and when I called and told them they were rude. Not only this but the quality of food has definately gone down hill within the last few months. Definately lost a customer. EDIT THERE ARE 2 IN THE BURRITO! I don't care if it is a bean seed it's as hard as a rock. This is an issue you're going to end up with customers suing for broken teeth. When I called they said it's "normal" wtf!! It's not normal I've NEVER had this happen

Their hours of operation are inaccurate says they are open from 10am-10pm, I showed up at 9:40pm they were already cleaning with the doors locked. It said on their door they were open from 10am-10pm. So don't depend on them being open.

Pros: hot Cheetos everything. Hot Cheetos fries, burritos, tacos, rolled tacos, and I'm sure anything else you can imagine like nachos maybe? And definitely, hot Cheetos everything is what you want. Trust me. Food came out fast and was very tasty (including the non hot Cheetos things lmao) and the burrito was huge and delicious. But the hot Cheetos fries were the most wonderful. Warm and cheesy, with meat and hot Cheetos, they had everything I wanted and the plate was gargantuan. I ate some, my friends ate some, and there were still a ton left over. So believe me, you'll leave full. Cons: no bathroom, far outside San Diego. But let's be real. You can suck it up for the drive, and get take out or something. You'll survive, because I did. Dining area is somewhat small, but clean and functional so no complaints there.

I was skeptical because of some of the reviews, but honestly the food was everything I expected. Plus the guys working the register were super nice and our order was ready pretty fast. I got the flaming hot asada fries and the portion was enough to feed at least three people, definitely worth the price. My husband got a torta which was so good! I would definitely go back

As a local I have always had high hopes for this shop... but sad to say today was the last straw and we will no longer be customers. The last few times I've ordered here had been a miss. And today was what decided to no longer be a tu taco shop customer. I had called three times and no one ever answered, until the 4th time. The person on the other line of the bat was rude and disrespectful. He didn't want to listen to me or take my order. I had to repeat myself several times and it seemed as if he was talking to someone else in person. After repeating my order several times, he didn't take my name, number and not even a wait time, he simply just hung up. Sad to say since it's my closest taco shop and I will now have to find somewhere else to get my Carne Asada Hot Cheetos burrito...

So disappointed ordered a carne asada burrito with guac, sourcream, cheese, and no pico and a flamin hot burrito. Carne asada burrito was prepared wrong regardless of asking for no pico it seem like it had extra pico and for the flamin hot burrito honestly felt as if I was bitting to only flour tortilla and no filling. Will not be returning to this taco shop.

First time going tried the Hot cheeto fries & horchata ( One size , free refills). Ate at the shop, Fries were hot and fresh although I would've wanted more sauces due to it being a little dry at the end, however meat was surprisingly good and tender. It didn't taste over cooked or like if it was sitting there for a long period of time like other shops. Red sauce wasn't spicy it gave a good flavor to the meal Will be stopping by to try more things and maybe upgrade the stars Overall I was satisfied, left home stuffed and happy. Update- I was really disappointed in the customer service but I'm a believer that it can improve as well as safe food handling. This is my sexond time going. I came in and the cashier was making flaming balls and grabbing the cheese with bare hands. ( reminder she has long nails). She didn't even notice me all she did was stare and keep talking to the cook. When receiving my order I forgot to order my burrito with extra sauce it comes with I didn't want it to be dry. Cashier asked the cook for a side of I guess it was chipotle sauce. Cook said annoyed that it was extra for sauce . I was willing to pay extra I didn't know it was extra tbh, I was gonna tell him " Oiga señor pero no me regañe " lol & he wasn't too happy that he didn't close it and it ended up spilling in the bag. Tu Taco is in a little strip mall next to a pizza shop and it was difficult to see from the street and easy to miss the driveway into the small parking lot. Definitely feels like a nice family owned place. At odd afternoon hours, your food comes out quick. What I loved about this place is the bang for your buck. Tacos are only ~$2 each, small, but that also means you can order more variety of tacos to try. My favorite was the adobada taco. The asada fries were also a perfect accompaniment to my tacos.

Would definitely go back if i lived closer /: i love the originality on the flamin hot fries and the hot cheeto sticks were great too! The service was really good as well
