An interesting shop can see Chinese traditional bamboo steamer whatever giant or tiny size. We can see at the door only but still fun.The small ones are good for souvenir to friends

Amazing little shop with bamboo steamers and table mats. I bought another bamboo pen holder from this place as well. Price is great and the owners are super friendly, there aren’t many of these shops anymore so do go and support small businesses

Fantastic to see genuine Hong Kong made products. I believe this may be the only place left in Hong Kong making bamboo steamers and related utensils by hand in this way. The owner was very accomodating and happy to let me browse. The prices are amazing for the quality and the steamers also make great authentic gifts

Tak Chong Sum Kee is a Sai Ying Pun institution for handmade bamboo steamers of all sizes, along with other bamboo products made either in the store, or in their warehouse. If you're a tourist or visitor, head to Tak Chong Sum Kee for a special souvenir and exposure to old Hong Kong-style retail. If you speak Cantonese, you'll find the proprietor is very friendly and happy to talk about his work, including special steamers he has made for restaurant openings. Watching him make the steamers is pretty incredible. Here's hoping Tak Chong Sum Kee stays in business for a very long time.

A small local store you can still get handmade bamboo utensils. The owner is also very friendly and talkative. He patiently explained all the various tools to me.

Shop is open(May 2018). Bought two cake molds and a trivet for 66HKD. You can see them forming bamboo steamers in the small shop. Neat little local shop!

I'd been given a mission from back home, a seemingly simple one - to bring back a bamboo steamer. What was casually requested, rather offhand, soon descended into a mini frenzy of obsessed madness, as simply popping out to get a steamer in Hong Kong isn't as quite easy as you might think it to be. Hong Kong is no longer a place where these things are made, and had it been any city in China it might have been a fairly simple request to make. Luckily, the hotel had fabulous internet, and I read up on a charming little local family business - the last of its kind in Hong Kong - which supplies local restaurants (and annoying tourists, like myself) with homemade bamboo wares. And so I spent my last morning in Hong Kong trekking across town to Tuck Chong Sum Kee Bamboo Steamer Company. Much to my delight and relief, it was still there (some of the articles I'd found online were quite a few years old). Tuck Chong Sum Kee was a charming little store full of amazing handmade bamboo steamers, moulds and other knick-knacks, making my brand new, homemade bamboo steamer the perfect souvenir to bring home - and one with a story, too!
