St. Philip’s College Campus: Where to Eat and Drink Around the San Antonio School | Eater Austin

"This East Side mainstay has undergone many different iterations since it opened in 1948. Still, it has always maintained its vintage charm. Hang out on the patio for an eclectic mix of local music; head to the lounge for burgers, barbecue, and even pho. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Brandon Watson

Great service and great food ! Wasn’t expecting much since it was a last min option near me, and I wasn’t aware it was a bar setting . Glad we stumbled upon it! The dumplings were fresh , soft and the stuffing was juicy . Burger meat flavor was on point and the brioche bun 👌🏼 but the bbq was one of the best I’ve had in Texas

Cool little spot that looked like you could really have a great time. Had the catfish and it was some of the best catfish I’ve ever had. Mac&cheese was super creamy and okra was made just right. Live music was going when we showed up. Two bars one inside and one out. The bartender served us. She was very nice and cute.

Tucker’s is your good ole neighborhood bar, albeit an almost iconic neighborhood bar. The food is good, the service is great, the ambiance is cool and the beer is COLD. The food prices are a little on the high side (but in this day and age the prices are high on everything, everywhere). Will definitely be back. Food – 4/5 Price – 4/5 Service – 5/5 Ambiance – 4/5

The customer service was good and I have no complaints there, but the food was hyped up in the past reviews. The wings were fried up perfectly and that's why this place has any stars at all. $7.00 for a jack and coke. Gosh, let's change it from $ to $$. I chose this spot for a birthday meal. Like...I could have picked anywhere in San Antonio, but I wanted waffles and fried chicken and unfortunately that's a Saturday&Sunday kind of brunch thing only. We settled for wings, spicy chicken sandwich, and a Patty Melt. The cheese on the patty melt could kill a starving possum. I have no idea what that gunk was. All I could say was yuck it tasted how it looked, that says alot. French fries were too crispy.. almost hard, house ketchup was good, the chicken sandwich was sloppy loppy. The bread was soaked and the sandwich fell apart instantly. It was a hot mess. Eat inside if you can with the ..yes...loud music....cuz outside is swarming in flies. If you do come here.....I would say come here...late night for beers and the hemisphere tower view .....only while you wait for an uber.....because for some reason.... your car broke down on this street.

Went for lunch with my 2 coworkers this afternoon, and wow what an amazing experience! We all got the beef pho which came with a delicious healthy portion of brisket and comforting house-made broth, and served with fresh herbs, lime wedges, and sprouts! We also ordered these delicious honey citrus bourbon drinks from the bar called The Gold Rush, and the Syracuse Cabernet for my other colleague. The service was 12/10, wonderful, and genuinely friendly, with the server/bartender, Nick, taking great care of us, and the Chef, Mr. Daniels, taking time to visit with our table and inquire on how everything was for us. The food was truly phenomenal, ambiance cozy with great classic soulful music playing, and all around awesome experience!! 👏🏽🙌🏽💯

Google
Definitely the best ribs in town! If you are looking for a restaurant with finger licking good ribs, look no further! The meat falls right off the bones! 5 star food forsure. Make sure you check out Tucker’s Kozy Korner! The plate you see in the images is ribs, beans, green beans and cornbread.

Google
This place is not what they make it out to be. The fries are nasty(dry) taste like they were made two days ago and they just warmed them up. The burger was ok once they cooked the meat some. Save your money and go to Burger King unless you just want to drink and listen to ole school music. Wait staff were nice. They didn't have over half the stuff on menu.

Google
The food was decent. Great presentation of food, but wasn't worth the price to me. The chicken was dried out to me like it had been reused or something. My waffle was drench in syrup when I got it, so it fell apart as I ate it. I would choose another place for brunch if I wanted to pay as much as I did.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in a while and was surprised it was pretty much empty when I showed up. Had a drink and left. It was nice inside and clean just expected the old school party Tuckers vibe.

Yelp
Fun restaurant and bar! The bartender and wait staff were very friendly. Chicken was crispy and the portions are large. Definitely check out their bar menu and happy hour!

Yelp
While this little historic piece of real estate has been a staple of S.A. for some years. The changes made it seem a bit more to stay a float than to progress. There is a bar, during our visit they were quite limited beer, soda and the standards for mixed style drinks. The new menu boasts of a Vietnam flare on the food, but we had pretty standard fried and steamed rolls with chicken or of course brisket . The chicken was fried, but you either had to order white only or dark only. The soul slaw lacked a bit of soul and maybe could have marinated a bit longer. The service, I must say, was excellent. Our server was polite, knowledgeable of the menu, and was available when needed. He made the day, and is why the rating is 4 instead of 3 stars. We are here on a Saturday happy hour at 5pm. Maybe we will try some other day and give them another shot at the flavors and pictures I saw posted on IG and the SA current.

Yelp
The service is amazing. Attentive and tailored...my husband ordered a tequila shot and I asked for something powerful but flavorful and my shot was amazing. I asked our server what was in it so I can attempt it at home. The BBQ fried rice is mouth watering and my husband's Tucker cheeseburger was delicious including the crispy fries. I recommend the pan fried pot stickers and crab Rangoon. For my drink, the Moscow mule was refreshing with a perfect ginger kick. Prior to today, it had been a year since my last visit. I can't wait to go back! 20/10 visit.

Yelp
I drove 35 minutes into San Antonio to try this place tonight (Sunday) and it was my ONE weekend plan. Was super excited to read about them in the San Antonio Edible magazine. They were closed even though their sign and Google state that they are open. Super disappointed. I hope that there wasn't a bad emergency for them or something.

Yelp
What a cool place!!! The vibes inside were like a sexy 60s lounge. Cocktails were pricy so we did not get any, but the options looked good. Beer was affordable and had great local options. The food was all pretty affordable as well, and they have great happy hour deals! We loved the spicy pineapple wings, but the onion rings weren't great. But for the price, we were impressed. There was live music outside. Definitely worth checking out. Also- I saw the mac n cheese balls on other reviews on here and I really really wanted to try them but they aren't on the menu anymore :(
google avatar

Yelp
The food was really good and the beers are really cold. The service is okay. I would like to try this place in a weekend.

Yelp
Only two stars this time because no chef today. No chef = no food. No food = no me. We have eaten here a few times & always worth returning.

Yelp
All my experiences at Tucker's have been for their Happy Hour, and they've all been thoroughly enjoyable! The HH food is the real star for me, as their mac n cheese balls and wings are worthy if a visit. I've tried other items and have been satisfied with the quality and flavor. The drinks are really hit or miss as it depends in who's making the drinks. My old fashioneds are different everytime I go, not bad just different, but the atmosphere and vibe keep me coming back when in the area.

Yelp
We love it here, Robert is such a great bartender and loved educating us about new drinks. Everything he made was exceptional. We enjoyed it very much and will be back very soon.

Yelp
First visit was with my coworkers around 12:20ish today, and it was 12/10 amazing! From the cozy and friendly ambiance, to the delicious food and excellent service, I couldn't recommend this place any more!! A truly wonderful bar/restaurant. Thank you Nick and Mr. Daniels for hosting us today!! :)

Meagan J.

Yelp
Awesome. Funky, kinda retro bar, that also has so much charm. Sexy date spot. Elevated cocktails and yummy food. Excellent service. The live music is great too, sometimes a touch too loud, but always a great time. Bomb happy hour.

Yelp
So I haven't been here in years and apparently it's under new ownership since the last time I visited. Came here for brunch. The food was really delicious. The fried chicken has this beautiful crust that's a little sweet but not overly sweet. I loved the French toast because it wasn't drowned in syrup. But it could've had a liiiiiitle bit more. Also the biscuits werent flaky, but substantial and the sour creamy, chive-y flavored gravy was the best compliment. The drinks were strong and the service was good, not annoying. Just like I like it. Definitely recommend for a cool atmosphere, brunch/drinks!

Yelp
After an evening in downtown San Antonio, I was begging for a Sunday brunch to cure my hangover. My friend and I went to Tucker's with his word that this was the cure- and this place did not disappoint. We opted to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. My only complaint was our guest DJ was very loud, which made it hard to talk to my brunch buddy and wasn't great for my headache. Our waitress promptly brought us waters, and had a quick turnaround on our mimosas. My friend raved about the chicken fried steak, but opted to try the chicken and waffles. I watched him finish every last bite. The real secret here is the Fluffy egg sandwich with sweet potato tots. Everything that came on my tray was amazing (and gave my brunch partner food envy). It saved me. This restaurant is quaint and small. There's a mom and pop kinda vibe to it, which I adore. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
So. I've been to this bar at night time. But a friend out me on to this place for Sunday Brunch so I brought another friend. First the atmosphere is really dope. It's good place to sit outside and chat with friends while the DJ grooves and spins vinyls. The vinyls add the extra tar because I respect that craft so much. We were seated at a table that was extremely wobbly and had to request it be fixed but that wasn't an issue. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles which seems to be their staple.. since everyone was ordering it. She loved it! I samples and it was fairly good. Chicken and waffles with syrup! It's a rather simple menu most of the dishes have pork in them. So I opted for a burger. (Yes I'm a smidge particular like most people can be sometimes but nothing our the ordinary. Specially because I'm an allergic to onions.). They had to remake my burger twice... Once because of an ingredient I didn't like. Again because of the onion. They comped a round of mimosas .. and for the third time made a burger to go. In the end it was a good time. Our waitress Elizabeth was superb though. I don't care who's fault it was. They were graciously trying to rectify it and I can appreciate. The burger looks amazing though every single time. Overall not a terrible experience!

Yelp
Tucker's Kozy Korner is officially open for business and the only reason they don't get 5 stars is because their kitchen isn't operational just yet but will be soon. I just happened to be passing by and noticed the lights were on and stopped in and to my surprise they were open for business earlier than I had been told. I walked in and was greeted by the GM/head bartender named Christine. She was super friendly, greeted us warmly and brought us the drink menu. I ordered my usual, a Bulleit Rye Old Fashion and she made it to perfection. The mix, bar cherry and toasted orange rind were all on point. The interior decor is Kozy per the name and the music and overall vibe is very chill. I plan on coming back soon with friends and can't wait for the kitchen to open as I'm sure they will be elevated to five stars. Spread the word and come check out the latest incarnation of this San Antonio Eastside icon and you won't be disappointed but be aware that seating is very limited, hence the Kozy, but if you get a seat then sit back and soak it in!

Yelp
Totally underrated place. My go to happy hour spot when I'm staying downtown. They recently updated the menu and it was for the better. Before everything was fried and heavy but they've got a good variety now. The bees knees is my favorite off the happy hour cocktails. Was pleasantly surprised by the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. The bread had a nice crunch and not too buttery. Beef sliders had great flavor and perfectly toasted buns. The boneless buffalo chicken wings were good but I'm a sucker for anything with Buffalo sauce. Plenty of outdoor seating with music. I personally prefer indoor for the decor and ambiance. Parking lot in front of the bar is small but there's a larger dirt/grass lot down the street. Do not recommend on a rainy day, witnessed someone get their car stuck in the mud.

Yelp
I have driven by the place in the past and didn't think much of it. The Triumph Riders Of San Antonio (TROSA) had a meetup with about 30 plus motorcycle enthusiasts attending and let me tell you, the service, although mostly provided by one bartender/server/cashier/host was outstanding. Didn't get her name but she knew what customer satisfaction was about. I ordered a buffalo style order of wings and it did not disappoint. Easy to see that the kitchen staff was well educated in culinary arts. From what the rest of the group I was with said all dishes were prepared with great levels of quality. Absolutely recommendable .

Yelp
SAVE YOUR MONEY & TIME! DO NOT BOTHER EATING HERE! I don't even know where to begin to explain how terrible my experience was at Tucker's. A group of friends (5 people including myself) decided to try Tucker's for Sunday brunch (August 26). Our group decided to meet up around noon. We arrived and completed "check-in" at the table in front of Tucker's. We were informed the wait would be 1.5 hours just to be seated. We knew brunch times always have fairly long waits so this wasn't even an issue. Where the wait became an issue was when that 1.5 hour was over and the staff continuously kept coming out saying your table will be ready in a minute and minutes passed and still we are waiting outside in the heat. This happens about 3 times before I became upset and asked them to either seat us or stop telling us our table will be ready if that's not the case. Finally after waiting forever we were seated inside. The first thing I noticed was how small the establishment was and realized no wonder the wait is so long the place is tiny and can only fit like 20 people or less inside. Nevertheless we sat down and started looking at the menu. The waitress came over and took our drink order (everyone ordered water due to being extremely thirsty and hot from the long wait outside in the heat). The water arrived in glasses. A few people at the table started drinking their water when they realized there were random particles floating around in the water. It was disgusting. Everyone checked their drink and sure enough it was in all the drinks. We requested the waitress and she proceeded the state that the water was tap and that's why it had these miscellaneous particles in there. Tap or not, water shouldn't look like that. She returned the drinks and brought back another round and water for the table and the exact same thing. We also realized that everyone else in the restaurant had to-go cups and we were the only ones with glass cups (interesting). We were thinking maybe it was the cups that was the issue but either way nobody was drinking water with random stuff floating in it. The waitress and staff seemed like the had an attitude when we were trying to address the issue. We decided to order sprite instead. They brought out some canned sprite and it was really hot as if it had been sitting in the heat and the sprite was watered down. We finally all opted to order orange juice instead. The lady came over before she brought the orange juice and stated "the orange juice has pulp in it, is that okay, because I want to make sure before so y'all don't send it back." At that point I was agitated. Don't get upset and start exhibiting poor customer service because I'm complaining about a legitimate issue. NOBODY, I REPEAT, NOBODY WANTS TO DRINK ANYTHING WITH RANDOM PARTICLES IN IT. ITS NASTY AND UNACCEPTABLE! Anywho, on to the next issue, the food! The menu was a one pager with limited options so most of our table settled on Chicken & Waffles. The presentation looked good but that was as good as it got for this meal. The chicken skin was seasoned HOWEVER my chicken was not cooked thoroughly. It was still bleeding inside and so was others at the table. The waffles were so damn tough I thought I was going to break my teeth. I was so shocked I even had babe record me cutting the waffle just to show y'all how it was because it was that bad! (See Video). At this point I didn't even wants to send the food back cuz I felt like the wait staff would retaliate and/or try to spit in our food or do some reckless stuff to our food. I at bits and pieces of the tough waffle and the chicken skin. Everybody else pretty much did the same. Thank God the food was only $13 because anything more would have been robbery! At the end the staff did compliment our drinks due to all the issues we were having but that's all they did. I will never return and if I could give ZERO STARS I would. Please save your time and money. Don't bother coming here unless you want a follow-up at your dental provider and/or salmonella poisoning!

Yelp
So I had to try this local well known San Antonio spot. The food was great! I went on a Sunday for the brunch menu. I had the chicken and waffles for $15. The portion size was good. I actually was not able to finish the waffle. The chicken was seasoned well, crispy and delicious. The restrauant it self, is smaller than I expected with seating for up to 20 or so. The wait staff was friendly and got our food out quickly. Tucker's is well known by most in San Antonio and for my first time going there I would say it lived up to expectations.

Yelp
I'm sitting here now, writing a review since I've been here for over an hour without being served any of the food I ordered. Waitress waited 30 minutes after I ordered to tell me they were out of what I ordered. No apology or anything. Waitress is also pretty rude overall. Also, who pours coffee from a plastic carafe? I would love to add a photo of the food but I don't have any yet. So here have a pic of our empty table! I'll update if I ever get any food... so hungry... UPDATE: ended up leaving, without getting any food. The waitress said she understood and would do the same thing. She told us not to worry about paying for the drinks, which was cool. If you are considering coming here, DON'T DO IT!!!

Yelp
I wish I could say I even liked this place. But I'm so, completely disappointed. We came at 12:30 but we weren't seated until 1:55. We ordered immediately because we had plenty of time to review the menu. We didn't get table service for another 15 minutes. Then, we waited until 3:30 for food. When we placed orders we were told they were out of three menu items. When the food finally arrived, the four orders of eggs Benedict came without any hollandaise. The eggs weren't even poached. WHO GETS AN EGGS BENNY WITHOUT HOLLANDAISE OR POACHED EGGS? No one. Some reviews from the table include: "well, it's definitely not gross?" And "I could get this from in-n-out in 10 minutes" and "I waited almost two hours, they are out of 4 things I asked for, and everything was lukewarm." And nothing sums it up better than "Best mediocre brunch I have ever had for dinner!!" Save your time, money, and emotional energy. By the way, nothing was comped except the Benny without sauce.

Yelp
Came here again with a larger group of friends for brunch and it was incredibly fun. Service was, again, a bit slow but in their defense it was busy. Additionally, the food was absolutely excellent.

Yelp
Had been wanting to try this place for over a year but for one reason or another haven't been able to! So finally came out and was pleasantly surprised by how incredible their wings are! Their unique buffalo recipe is so thick it's like it's painted on with some of the most flavorful sauce I have ever had and the chicken that carries it to your lips is cooked to crispy perfection. The fried Mac N Cheese, sliders, egg rolls, and loaded fries are all wonderful, but there is something about these wings. And then there is the drinks. None were too sweet, which is a huge bonus. But all were so uniquely crafted - like a hibiscus margarita for example - to really just give you the best little date night. Love this place. Have heard their brunch is insane. Can't wait to try!

Yelp
My honey took me to this little place last night we had such a great time. We ate outside the weather was beautiful and they had a great band playing. We also had some wings and great drinks. I would highly recommend B 75. Delicious! The wings were Super good to. I would definitely visit this place again it's literally five minutes from my house. I love this area! The service was fantastic.

Yelp
Tucker's is usually a great time! I would recommend trying out this place. It's a great chill outdoor atmosphere. Sundays are the time to go with great feel good music. There is usually a wait so be prepared but definitely worth it. They ran out of chicken & waffles around 12:18pm,. They did comp the meal for my friends who ordered the chicken & waffles which is more than enough. Kudos!
google avatar

Maddy R.

Yelp
Been here a couple times and always had an amazing experience followed by amazing cocktails. Lucky enough to catch live music twice which was also full of talent and so fun to watch. Went in last Sunday to have a couple cocktails per usual, and was beyond disappointed. Upon our arrival, we noticed the bartender was already pretty intoxicated (still made good drinks and was friendly so no big deal). After our first round, she asked if we wanted another. We said yes. She proceeded to ask us about 5 times what our order was, and after about 10 minutes brought out my husbands old fashioned and asked again what I was drinking. I repeated my order and then asked if we could close out after that. She went on to make several other drinks, do a shot (probably the 3rd shot at this point in the 30 minutes we were there), then poured a few more shots and went and to the patio to take yet another shot, while I sat at the bar. After about 10 minutes (and no one behind the bar) I went outside myself to ask her if she could close me out. She came in and had no idea who I was or what the name on my tab was, closed us out and seemed pretty annoyed about it. Super bummed by this entire experience, knowing it completely deterred me from ever returning.

Yelp
BRUNCH!!!! Came here for brunch and had such a great time. The Brunch food menu is simple and limited. I had the chicken and waffles, which is the most popular. The waffle was good and the chicken was crispy, and well seasoned. I did notice that all the chicken served was more like wings, not chicken breast nor thighs. It didn't bother me, I thought it was tasty but just an FYI. Also I felt the portion was smaller but perfect for me, I usually feel like portions are too big and one plate is enough to feed two people at most places. It was nice though because it didn't leave anyone overly full, just enough room for some day drinking!! The bottles of champagne with a carafe of OJ is $11. They were fantastic. There were no other juice options just OJ, just good and simple. So we drank those for most of our day. We also tried some of the other mixed drinks and they were really smooth and delicious. The service was great and our man Wes seemed very busy but took great care of us and we really appreciated it. We left very happy and will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
This review is only for the food as we Uber Rushed this during the UYE at La Roca. First off, the food was amazing. Straight up devine. The chicken and waffles had an amazing bredding that had incredible flavor and the chicken itself was oh so juicy. Additionally their chrispy pork belly roll was simply hands down the most mouthwatering bite I've had lately. So. Darn. Good I would have been in trouble if we'd been on location because I would have kept eating and eating untilnI popped! What a great first experience into SA food! Love it and keep em coming!

Yelp
I was looking for a nice quiet place to eat dinner that wasn't Riverwalk or some big fancy restaurant and I wanted to support the local community however the environment is very stale here. The food was served beautifully like something you get at a very fancy restaurant however there's not much to their menu so don't come here if you're hungry looking for food around 5 to 7 PM. My dinner ended up being chicken wings and mac & cheese balls but I have to say it was delicious however not really a dinner the menu onlineis a little misleading to the non-local like myself. The interior is something straight out of the 70s literally not just decorate it that way but it has a cool vibe the locals are not very friendly they know you're from out of town I sat in the corner kind of by myself and was a bit bored car the music on the jukebox is pretty good it's pretty much controlled by the bartender. The bartender also served as my waiter for my table.

Yelp
Hungover or 100% Sober the food here will cure your Sunday Blues (or whatever blues you have) Drinks are strong and portions are generous. Quick and friendly service is like that extra shot on top. Do they serve food at other times besides Sunday Brunch? Guess I'll have to mosey over during a weeknight dinner and figure it out myself.

Yelp
Downtown and low key. The bar is just big enough for a girls night catch-up! They had a happy hour menu for food, super limited. Def recommend

Yelp
This is one of those places I was lucky enough to stumble upon while visiting San Antonio. The chicken fried grits were the most amazing thing ever. The bloody mary bar was so fun and extensive. The inside decor is a complete throwback and I loved it all. We had so much fun at this place in what seemed like the middle of nowhere (don't judge, LA girl here!). We might very well have been in the middle of somewhere, but regardless, I dream of being back there!

Yelp
First time here was looking forward to the Biscuits and gravy and they didn't disappoint! The gravy was sooo goood and the biscuits were nice and flaky! I ordered the Bologna Benny which is a huge thick bologna not like your Oscar Myer bologna. That was very Surprising but a good surprise. The eggs were perfect too. My only complaint is that the slight char on the bologna made it very salty which made us order two carafea of mimosas lol. The potatoes on both plates were up too greasy for my taste and a bit salty as well. No AC or at least it didn't feel like any AC was on and it was actually cooler outside. The interior is reminiscent of a 70's bar which makes it a very trendy hipster place to visit. Parking was easy as you can park on the street. I would come again but make sure it's nice and cool outside and share a plate rather than get my own. The portions are huge here!!

Yelp
I'm not from around here so I asked a friend for a recommendations and this was where he first recommended. Don't let the looks deceive you. This place is not just a bar with bar food, Although it might appear like it. The food is amazing. Walked in on happy hour and ordered the steak and the wings. Both tasted great and came out hot. I will be back for more .

Yelp
Checked out Tucker's for Sunday brunch and it was great. The brunch cocktails were fun, and tasted even better than they looked. We had The Paraiso cocktail, which is made from a blended Paraiso paleta I thought that was great. And a coffee cocktail that had a salted caramel rim. Both delicious! Chicken and waffles and the east Benedict were good as well. Service was attentive.
google avatar

Giang T.

Yelp
We went here for brunch on Sunday. Don't let the looks deceive you, the food was delicious! The chicken and waffles was amazing! If you're a fan of mimosas you can get a bottle of champagne and a pitcher of OJ for only $11! The only downside was that we had to sit outside and it was pretty cold out. They have heaters outside in the patio area but it didn't help much. If you are looking for brunch place in San Antonio close to the River Walk, I would definitely recommend Tucker's!
google avatar

Irma I.

Yelp
So maybe my expectations were too high especially after all of the reviews that I read. My experience did not live up to them :( First I will say that the mimosas were quite tasty, but even though they were unlimited, its only if you actually get your glass filled. Sometimes my glass went empty for quite some time. Other tables got 1/2 carafe but because only 2 of us ordered we weren't that lucky. Lets see we got there about 20 min before and a few minutes before 11am we realized they serving a couple already- even though we were waiting outside. I mean you could let us know you are ready for us. Anyho- we waited for the rest of our party. We sat outside because it was a beautiful Sunday morning. The menu is limited. I ordered the fried chicken, but was actually fried wings. There was a spoonful (and I mean spoonful) of coleslaw - check out the picture I posted- and fries. The chicken was greasy (which I don't mind) but it was not flavorful (which I do mind). It was heavy. I asked for a waffle on the side & that was cooked so it was on the dry side. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy & it was actually one split biscuit dunked in gravy. Now, I usually LOVE gravy, but this gravy had an overpowering smoky flavor- it was overwhelming so it took away from the biscuit. The vibe inside looks way cool, small place but it looks like you stepped back in time.

Yelp
Went there for the Puppy Brunch and it took forever just to get a server to come take our drink order. After we got our order for drinks taken, the server apparently forgot so basically we sat there for about an 45 min waiting for our drinks. We finally called another server and he took our order for drinks again and we ordered food. We waited so long for the food to arrive that we called the server again and seemed like they had forgotten about it. The service was terrible, one server mentioned they were understaffed but I mean, if they had that event scheduled, then why wouldn't they be ready with enough people? The food was not good either, we had the French toast and chicken and the chicken was too fried and the French toast was lacking flavor.

Yelp
Read the reviews of other Yelp'r's first. Therefore, I knew to arrive early. Short wait. The tables are small and the dining area is small, but you definitely get a quaint feeling vibe here. I had the Chicken and Waffles and it was decent. Not a bad lil spot. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
We found this place through Yelp, after seeing some crazy bloody mary pictures and wanting to check them out. Unfortunately, we stopped by on a weekday so they weren't really serving brunch. No bloody mary :( But! We did get lunch and the food practically made up for the bloody mary disappointment. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was really everything I wanted from a spicy chicken sandwich! I'm not sure what kind of sauce they put on it, but it was the perfect amount of spice and completely delicious! The inside was a really quaint/local looking bar and it looked like they had a nice patio/deck area that wasn't open when we went but definitely would've been a nice time! Service was great and very friendly! Would totally come back to try and get my hand on one of those awesome looking bloody marys!

Yelp
Love it. There is just the funkiest, fun and laid back vibe the second you walk in the door. Imagine a disco ball, lots of old photos and a very retro feel. Coupled with exceptional service. Honestly, they could not have been any more efficient or nicer. The food was phenomenal. We got the chicken and waffles (yes!) and the butter eggs. Everything was just mouth watering and so flavorful. We really also liked the sweet potato hash. Such a unique and superb experience. Get here early and stay long!

Yelp
Been to Tucker's several times for brunch now and I feel like I've given it so many chances to live up to the 4 and 5 star rating that's always given but I just can't do it. Each time I have been here is the almost exact same scenario: 1. Arrive at 10:45, 15 minutes before brunch begins, and put my name on the list - normally about the 3rd person on the list. 2. Seated by 11:15, even though your the third person on the list. 3. Wait 10 plus minutes after you sit down to have a waiter finally come greet you - at this point we always have our drink AND food orders ready or who knows how long it will be. 4. 11:45 - keep chugging away on your bottomless mimosas as you watch every table that came in after you get their food. 5. Noon - finally get food - and again when you have your waiter at the table, ask for the check because you have no idea when you will see them again. Bottom line is the food is pretty good, but it can't make up for the service. I know brunch isn't supposed to be a bang bang meal. You want to have time to eat and drink with family and friends, but you still like a waiter to at least check in every once in a while. Tucker's has been one of the more popular brunch spots in San Antonio for a while now....please add some staffing for brunch. Don't order the biscuits and gravy or you will be extremely disappointed - biscuits are typically hard as a rock. Stick with the chicken and waffles or eggs Benedict which are both pretty good.

Yelp
Brunch is a must at Tucker's! I recently went and had a great experience. Parking right in front, walked in with no wait and got seated inside. First on the list was mimosas! The inside seating in small and intimate with a cute jukebox playing everything from Otis Redding, to Prince, to Lauryn Hill. I ordered the chicken and waffles that came with fresh berries on top. The chicken was nice and crunch and the waffle was golden and perfect. My friend got the salmon eggs Benedict and the hash potatoes she got were out of this world. I would definitely go back to Tucker's for brunch time and time again!

Yelp
Went here late at night after a Spurs game. Great reviews on Yelp decided to try. Ordered wedge salad and wings and it was shockingly really good. Some of the best wings I ever had. I didn't expect much thought its bar food won't be great but the wedge salad was fresh and wings were amazing. Tried this place by change and would definitely recommend and will be back !!!

Yelp
Kozy burger and fries were life changing. Owners were there and super nice. We'll be back a bunch.

Yelp
I'd give it zero stars if I could. I brought a group of coworkers here and the bartender was more concerned with entertaining his friend at the bar rather than paying customers. Additionally I asked if it was black owned as they listed on Yelp and the bartender said it was bought by a white guy years ago and he probably doesn't want to change it on here. That is false advertisement and I am not happy! Allies you shouldn't be either honestly. How dare he use the plight of black folks to attract customers. I am not the first comment on this so YELP I am expecting you to advise here!

Yelp
I remember the good old Tucker's when the food was hot and fresh every time and the staff was friendly. We went to brunch this Sunday and there wasn't a long wait, but the hostess wasn't friendly. She took us to a table outside next to a table that was smoking and made a face when I asked if there was seating inside since we had a baby. We sat and it took about 8 minutes to get our order in. We ordered 2 chicken and waffles and a burger. The food finally came out 45 minutes later and the waffle was cold and chewy. We had to go up to the bar to get a server to give back our waffles and request new ones to be made. When the new waffles came out and we cut into the chicken, it was RAW. So we kindly asked them to just take off the two chicken and waffles. We paid for the burger and left. It saddens me because this used to be a great place with good service. I wouldn't waste my time or money here.

Yelp
Hidden gem for sure! Anyone ever been here before??? Food is so good, drinks are yum, and service is on point. Music could be more varied but overall this place is an absolute 8.75/10 for sure. Check it out!!!

Yelp
I use to like this place but today was not a good one. I'm never coming back. Our food good 40 minuets and when it arrived it was cold. New chef/management need to get it together
