The 15 Best Vegan Restaurants in Tokyo, Japan | Eater

"This high-end, reservations-only restaurant is hidden away in a quiet residential area in Yoyogi, creating the feeling that you’ve been invited to an intimate dinner party at chef Mamta Reid’s home. Deeply unusual for a restaurant in Japan serving a set-course menu, Tudore allows diners to customize each flight of creative dishes to fit their needs; Reid can alter dishes to make them vegan, gluten-free, or low-sodium, or to avoid a particular ingredient. The chef’s Zambian and Jamaican background comes out in the spices, but the melting pot of flavors is far more complex, evolving over eight courses to end in a glittering taster plate of sweets and tea." - Chiara Terzuolo

Excellent food, excellent experience! Highly recommend because everything was exceptional. Creative cuisine at its finest, along with an excellent wine list. If you’re in the habit of eating meat and cheese, you won’t miss it here. The restaurant boasts a romantic atmosphere that is also well suited to dining with friends (because they are happy to split the bill). Cash and card accepted, reservations required.

My friend and I had dinner here last night, and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Everything about it was superb—gorgeous presentation, dishes chosen to showcase the amazing food, and Cliff our server was very attentive after we were warmly welcomed and seated. My one regret is that I was unable to finish the entire meal, as I unfortunately tend to get full quickly and so could only sample the delicious dessert. The photos likely don’t do the food justice, as the lighting was a bit dim. My non-vegan friend also loved her dinner, and I can confidently say that vegans and non-vegans alike would be amazed by this dining experience.

Amazing restaurant. The chef serves the food herself. The food is magical has comfort of your mom’s cooking served on a very fancy Michelin level plate. The ingredients used were a celebration and a plethora of fruits and vegetables were presented. Highly recommended!

Amazing food. Vegetarian paradise. Being non vegetarian, I cherished the began food. And waiting for next time to go again. Must try for any vegetarian and vegan foodie.

What a gem. Went for dinner with my wife and it was everything we hoped for and more. The food was phenomenal. I am Vegan and my wife is Vegetarian with several allergies. We were accommodated in every sense. The presentation, the taste and the ambience were top notch. Both the owner/chef and the maitre’d were super friendly, both spoke English and were very knowledgeable about the food. This has been, By far, the best meal and dining experience, as a vegetarian/vegan couple, we had in Japan. The care taken in preparing the meals and the respect for the ingredients used is evident through the tastes, smells and the overall visual appeal of every dish served. “A must visit for every vegetarian/vegan in Tokyo”

Beautifully presented haute vegetarian cuisine. The sight, taste and smells are a feast for the senses. As other reviewers have pointed out, the price is a little steep (but not too much for Tokyo). The chef has done an amazing job melding different ingredients so that it works amazing together. I really wish them well. They are located in a residential area and a short walk from the nearest train station.

I think I can confidently say this is the highest standard vegan dining experience you can enjoy in Tokyo (though of course can be fully enjoyed by non-vegans as well!) Each individual plate was extremely well conceived and added up to a very satisfying (and filling) meal. The ingredient/flavour combinations were very original and beautifully presented by the talented chef/host (also great hospitality)

Fine dining that is vegetarian and gluten free with vegan options too! My partner is celiac and was very comfortable here. The chef was very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was fantastic. The restaurant also offers a number of vegan and non alcoholic wines. Both the food and the atmosphere are eclectic and fun.
